It seems that a TV station is removing all Obama-Blagojevich meeting stories where the two met about Obama's senate replacement: http://jammiewearingfool.blogspot.com/2008/12/surprise-stories-noting-obama.html Now that's change you can believe in. Edited by Dwayne, Dec 10 2008, 10:42 PM.

Yup, we get the government we deserve... Pantload Bill.Did we deserve to get this economy over 8 years of a Republican White House? Sending like never before?Guess what. While we were killing Mohammeds finest the greedy crooks in Real Estate were getting drunk. Wall Street did not get drunk, Mortgage brokers did. This system is flawed with $G$R$E$$E$D$ like a runaway train. The Smoke and Mirrors of Credit and NO FU***NG oversight with A.R.M.S Make no mistake in understanding this, Lots of people made a nice profit in this capatalistic ORGY. That is why we are Pinched now. What we deserve is some other option which we do not have. Edited by fireh8er, Dec 11 2008, 03:55 AM.

Interesting. I guess last month sometime, one of Obama's aids (a guy named Axelrod?) said that Obama had met with Blagojevich about the seat. Then this week, when all this went down, Obama went on record as saying he's never talked with the governor. Amazingly, Axelrod stated after that that he was mistaken last month. I guess that could be true... Anyhoo, this will be interesting to see how Obama get's combed down. His connectiong with Blagojevich has never been strong and the governor doesn't like the president-elect. And on the wire-tapping evidence, it is clear that Obama is not playing the game (i.e., is not giving Blagojevich anything in exchange for his choice to take the seat). But while Obama may be clean in this particular affair, it is still fact that he came up in the very same system that Blagojevich did. And the system itself is corrupt. And you can't play in the pig pen without getting dirty. |

I have heard more than once that JFK's father courted many a pig in the pen, such as the mafia to ensure his son climbed the political ladder to President, any comments on that? outragous lie or reality? |

Time to put something here
|
Yea it could be true; except common sense tells you that the employee vacating a position on good terms is going to be an instrumental consultant in his replacement. That’s how its done in every business in the world; so why would Obama have no contact with Blagojevich about the filling of his senate seat everything else being equal. The answer is he would have most defiantly had contact with Blagojevich regarding this mater, whether that contact was of a corrupt nature who knows but the fact that Obama is now lying about it is clearly not a good sign all around. Either the contact was of a corrupt nature or Obama has no compunction lying to the American people for political benefit. The only other possibility that excuses Obama actions are that he is working with in the cooperation of the investigation; that perhaps he or a member of his staff was the informant that tipped the feds off; and is now remaining quite as to preserve evidence. This will be known soon enough. |

It seems clear when you listen to Obama's response yesterday that he is not comfortable talking about this. |

Apparently neither is Ralm Emanuel, Obama's proposed chief of staff: http://www.suntimes.com/news/politics/obama/1326788,rahm-emanuel-blagojevich-obama-121108.article Maybe I should link to my post on this site where I predicted a lot of scandals would surface with an Obama presidency. |

My browser is not opening that link for some reason, but does it have something to do with the fact that Emmanuel took Blagojevich's IL congressional seat when the latter became governor? It looks like Jesse Jackson, Jr. could be the next to be picked up by the Feds... |

Nah, what I meant is that he's not comfortable talking about this, but the issue of how Ralm took the congressional seat is certainly fodder for discussion. Here's the article I linked to...

I'm interested to see when Blagojevich is convicted (or at some point during his trial) he'll go State's evidence in order to lessen his prison sentence and rat out a bunch of other corrupt schemes in the Chicago machine? That'd be nice. Maybe then, Illinois could avoid having a Chicago governor for a good spell. |

I'm sorry I was unable to answer it sooner, but I've been occupied. Pantload? Not hardly. The economy has NOTHING to do with 8 years of either party in the White House. It really doesn't. Federal spending is a small fraction of Gross Domestic Product. The real estate market (and the bankers) got drunk on greed not because of the Bush Administration, but ACTUALLY because of the rules set in place by Congress between 1979 and today. Banks sold securities as "mortgaged backed" (therefore safe) even though an increasing percentage were wild ARM loans (instead of 15 or 30 year fixed). Funny that I had NO PROBLEM getting a home loan for $320,000 in this turbulent market. 15 year fixed, under six percent interest. No capitalistic orgy (Dude, there is NOTHING WRONG with capitalism. What happened to the mortgage market was just plain greed. Big difference.). I closed on the house less than three weeks after I first walked through it. We are PINCHED now because our federal government made the mistake of saying, "Don't worry, we'll save you." What they should have done was say, "Suck it up. You did it, YOU fix it." Then they could have reorganized or merged. People who wouldn't pay their mortgages should have been out on the street. Cold? Yes, but they tried to get something for nothing and were a risk mortgage brokers should have refused to take (despite government penalties). You say we deserve some option which we don't have? Fine. A third party perhaps? Libertarians will never amount to anything aside from 5% of the vote. Ron Paul (or as we call him, "Ronpaul" in a robotic voice) woudn't even win his congressional seat as a Libertarian. It is a fantasy to think otherwise. The same goes for similar parties on the left. Here's the straight scoop. What is needed is reform. The Republican party needs Ronald Reagan (or his successor) to drive the party back to it's roots. That was what won elections. Today's Republicans are a pale shadow of the Reagan Republicans. They got fat, dumb, and predictable in the 90s and didn't learn from their mistakes after 2000 or 2006. McCain was evidence of that. Some here may remember saying that I was a reluctant McCain supporter, but an avid McCain-Palin supporter. It is people like Sarah Palin who will return the Republican party back to conservative, smaller government roots. Not the "go along to get along" types like McCain. There won't be a third party revolution in this country any time soon, no matter how bad things get. The pendulum will simply swing back to the right. |

And the wrangling begins... IL House votes to begin Impeachment proceedings. But they decide not to strip Blajojevich from his power to appoint the Senate replacement and instead creating a special election. The Democrats are afraid of losing the seat to the Republicans. Unfortunatley for Illinois, the sad part of this whole affair is that more Chicago machine politicians are running it. While House Speaker Michael Madigan has been at odds with the governor the last few years, he's still of the same political fold. Used his public office to campaign for his daughter's gubenatorial campaign against Blagojevich last election - accusations include use of state time, resources, and money. Lisa Madigan, currently Attorney General, will no doubt use the limelight to gain some notoriety for the next governor's race. Barbara Flynn Curie, House majority leader, also from Chicago is in the mix. Fine. We get rid of one crook. But to be replaced by whom...?

I wonder if Rahm Emanuel will be able to perform his duties as Obama's White House Chief of Staff? It turns out that he spoke with Blago TWENTY ONE times about Obama's senate seat: http://www.suntimes.com/news/sneed/1333057,CST-NWS-SNEED16.article Oops. |
