Comments: The photo is fake, an altered version of an unattributed image found on Photobucket.com which shows candidate Obama holding the same phone properly.

The spoof version appears to have originated on IMAO.us, a political humor blog, where it was posted on March 4, 2008 under the header, "There Is an International Crisis at 3 A.M.; President Obama Answers the Call." Both the title and the Photoshopped clock on the wall refer to a scenario posed in a TV campaign ad released by Obama's rival, Hillary Clinton, in late February:

It's 3 a.m. and your children are safe and asleep. But there's a phone in the White House and it's ringing. Something's happening in the world. Your vote will decide who answers that call. Whether it's someone who already knows the world's leaders, knows the military -- someone tested and ready to lead in a dangerous world. It's 3 a.m. and your children are safe and asleep. Who do you want answering the phone?

It could also be regarded as an homage (or a rip-off) of a similar visual joke targeting George W. Bush that circulated in 2005:

Phones are just the start. Soon he'll be pictured holding anything and everything upside-down and/or backwards. Best just to ignore it.

Take a close look at the photo of Obama talking on the phone.

I'll grant this is tame and in jest, but after having to put up for years with leftists using photos snapped at odd moments to bludgeon republicans, this could be fun.

Fun? Okay, I gave it a shot. Mildly amusing.

I think it would be more appropriate, but near impossible, to find those responsible and post fake pictures of them doing something stupid.

Amusing. Someone took a pic of Obama just before Election Day and Photoshopped in the phone. The other amusing thing is that an Indian paper fell for it.

Then again, if you consider Newsweek using Photoshopped images of the middle east for years, maybe not so amusing.

As Star Trek fans you're supposed to be very irritated by the "accidental/mistaken" inclusion of Star Wars themes.

Bad Star Trek fans! Bad Star Trek fans! :tsktsk:

What would happen if this were a republican?

Well first off you would see the members of Bush's personality cult falling over backwards to defend thier great leader from insult. Then about a week later they would realize it's a fake photo and say "see, I told you so" ;)

Yes, tons of fun, because we all know that two wrongs make a right.

No high road to be taken here I guess. :wave2:
