Apparently we look like this now

I've been hearing alot about "Republican Rage" from the media..and here. Can anyone document this rage? I'm not angry. The angriest I've been was when McCain won the nomination in the first place. Once he did, I still supported him. Barack Obama is my president. I want him to prove me wrong. And, I am going to oppose his ideas when I disagree with them, but I'm not going to trash the man the way many on the left have trashed Bush, McCain, Palin, etc. And, I'd bet that every republican feels the same way. I have however seen alot of continued attacks on Sara Palin, Joe the Plumber, etc from the left. There is STILL a smear campaign on Sarah Palin. They are trying to destroy her. So, I ask Republicans/conservatives...Are you angry and full of rage? And, I ask Democrats...Is it ok for people to continue to trash conservatives? Why, or why not? |

Nope. I'm not angry. I'm certainly not full of rage. Yes, I'm disappointed, but I'll get by. I'm a grown up. I get a bit tired of the needling from certain folks who want to make claims for me, whether here or in the media. Edited by Admiralbill_gomec, Nov 7 2008, 12:55 PM.

^^^ Them, no. I had hoped that they would though. The party that preaches unity is the one trying to destroy anyone who opposes them. It seems that the election hasn't even happened with this smear campaign on Palin. They are also trying to drum Leiberman out of the party. |

If conservatives controlled both Congress and the White House they'd be enraged. They're merely projecting.

I think what you have here is a case of convenient alliteration. Republican self examination doesn't quite have the same ring to it. In terms of what I've seen in the British media, I haven't seen any mention of Republican rage, nor a smear campaign from anyone about Palin or McCain. Most reports that have spoken of McCain have talked about his concession speech and not much else. |

The criticisms of Palin at this point seem to all be coming from the McCain campaign insiders. Personally, I think that shows a lack of loyalty. The art of politics is about smoothing things over and putting on a good face. In my opinion, Sarah didn't contribute to McCain losing the election. She propped up the traditional base to a degree, and was a little bit "messianic" within that continuum. Now they're blaming here for the "shopping spree", and there are claims that she exploited these perks. Again, coming from McCain campaign insiders who are currently negotiating "book deals" and so on. Ain't politics wonderful ? Governor Palin was thrust unexpectadly into a very demanding and difficult situation. She should be given some applause, not treated like this. * Just as a side note, Gov. Palin knows all about NAFTA. She last year negotiated with Canada and BC in particular about the natural gas pipeline. NAFTA was the core of the discussion. I'll see if I can dig up the link.
Source I think John McCain should step in here and help Sarah out. I can believe a lot of things, but I find it hard to believe that Sarah is trying to keep stuff (props) for the campaign that isn't legit. This is the second time I've noticed that FOX news is out to get Palin now. Reason unkown. Edited by Franko, Nov 7 2008, 08:27 PM.

Does this thread qualify as the "Republcan Rage" you are talking about http://s2.zetaboards.com/SisterTrek/topic/5026667/1/ 8247 - you have been pretty classy about this so far but I must say that you seem to have a blind spot when it comes to seeing how some others of your political persuasion have reacted. I would say an entire thread devoted to trying to prove that Obama is "creepy" definitely qualifies as "Republican Rage" or at the very least "Conservative Rage" I applaud you personally for not engaging in the nonsense. But I think you are stretching things when you try to state that it simply doesn't exist. Not when it is so obvious right here on this board. Edited by Minuet, Nov 7 2008, 09:10 PM.

I agree with you, except I never supported McCain. Never anything approaching rage then or now. I will say that I got tired of shows that try to "whip me up into a fury of outrage". Mike Gallagher was the best example of this for me over the past 3 years, a drumbeat of outrage on any given topic of the day. I gave Hannity 3 hours a day and one at night since 2002 but when he went with Loops of jive Turkey Rev Wright I exercised my right to turn it off. When Rush pounded the Puff the Magic Negro tune I turned that off too. I couldn't take it anymore. I still listen to those guys but I shut them off at times too. I am sorry that some people on this board who I respect and generally agree with like Adbill took my rants on those subjects or anti McCain rants with disgust, but they were to get it off my chest and very theraputic. "disclaimer" I am not calling out Gomec but merely explaining how I think he dislikes what he would call sniping or other things I said at times. "end disclaimer" I respect Adbill and value what I learn from reading his comments as well as the perspectives of Republican Tasty Wheat (RTW) and Dewayne. But I won't get into to much of the pissing contests and arguments. I find that when I get tired of this place I find it a reflection of me not everyone else and have no need to post a "goodbye cuel world" exit thread. I just go live my life and come around when I feel like it. So back on topic no, I don't sense rage but I sense fear from conservatives, how could this happen? How could Barack be elected President OMFG fear, well the bar is set pretty low then, so anything Obama can do besides utter complete destruction of America should be a positive. But Republican Rage? Give me a break..... |
