Really? You have proof of Hollywood celebrities plotting assasination attempts on Bush?

I'd like to see some evidence of this.
They advocate it and call it a joke: http://www.thesmokinggun.com/archive/kilborn1.html

I find it pretty lame you're even acting as though you have no clue about the attacks on Pres. Bush.

Well, it's clear that Republicans and "centrists" aren't taking it seriously that people were plotting an assasination attempt. Obviously they're nuts. Anyone who wants to take the life of another based on skin color is obviously a few sandwiches short of a picnic. But the ATF and Secret Service are taking it seriously and an investigation is underway. Therefore, it is possible that security around Obama and his family has been heightened. It's no secret that there are plenty of "nutters" who still entertain themselves by hating black people and plotting their demise.
:rotfl:

Why is it that you ALWAYS try to make mountains out of molehills?

EDIT: As I remember, you were a big supporter of McCain back in '04 and '05, when others here (including me) were saying he wasn't Republican enough. It was you, and "you know who." I recall you saying you'd be proud to vote for him. So, how'd that work out?

Alec Baldwin, on national TV no less, stated that Republicans and their children should be killed. Does that count?

I don't accept this as proof of any cult of personality. It is one person's opinion and my opinion is that it is sour grapes.
I personally loved Chris Matthews' comment about getting a thrill up his leg after hearing Obama speak.

Of course, that may ONLY be a man crush.

Henry Hyde, specifically. Old Arec Barrrrdwin called for Hyde and his family to be stoned. "Stone them!"

Specifically:

Quote:

We would stone Henry Hyde to death and we would go to their homes and we’d kill their wives and their children. We would kill their families.

Back on topic.

Personality cults are created by those who wish to radically transform society. Usually a personality cult centers around a single leader who is associated with this revolutionary transformation, and held up as a loving and caring leader, without whom the transformation cannot occur.

This is Barack Obama.

Oh, sorry... thought you were talking about Kim Jong Il for a moment.

I do think there are many out there who have unrealistic expectations for Obama. I believe that they're in for a rude awakening when they find out that he's a human being.

Some mayhem, arrests after Obama rally
November 5, 2008 at 4:54 PM

At least five people were arrested across the city after Barack Obama's rally in Grant Park, including a woman who slapped a Chicago police officer, saying police couldn't arrest her anymore, prosecutors said today.

Most of the others celebrated the historic occasion with gunfire.

Celita Hart, 19, stood silently in court today when she appeared for a bond hearing.

Prosecutors said Hart, who is black, yelled " 'White [expletive], [expletive] McCain--you white police can't do nothing anymore.'" With that, she reached through the window of a squad car and slapped a white male officer in the face, according to Assistant State's Atty. Lorraine Scaduto.

The incident occurred after police responded to a crowd of people celebrating Obama's win on the corner of 69th Street and Western Avenue. Hart, of the 7100 block of South Rockwell Street, was charged with aggravated battery of a police officer and was ordered her held in lieu of $10,000 bail.

Others who appeared before Circuit Judge Israel Desierto included Andre Murph, 37, of Aurora, who was arrested after police saw him shooting a handgun into the ground on the Southwest Side.

Scaduto said he told the officers he was "shooting to celebrate Obama as president."

Narada Thomas, 23, of the 1200 North Central Avenue, allegedly gave a similar explanation after he was arrested with a handgun near his home. "He said he had the gun because he wanted to celebrate Obama becoming the first black president," Scaduto said.

Kenneth Smith, 24, of the 6700 block of South Ada Street, was arrested after he allegedly fired a handgun outside his home. Smith, who is on parole for a previous weapons conviction, told authorities that "the police only arrested him because a black man won for president," Scaduto said.

Robert Morgan, 54, of the 5700 South Lowe Avenue, appeared to have simply been caught up in the excitement.

When officers arrested him for allegedly firing a handgun into the air from his back porch, "He told the officers, 'Everyone else is shooting off their guns--I figured, why not?'" Scaduto said.

Please do come back when your ready to have an intelligent conversation on the topic. Its quite an interesting one and I would like to hear your input. I already understand you think Republicans are angry so maybe when we continue we can put that to the side for a while and commence with the topic.

^^^ He won't be back.

As for the subject at hand. Let's look at the comments of Tom Brokaw... certainly no republican, but his words totally supports the opinions of Evan Thomas and Jon Meacham... No one really knows who Obama is...

Here's some excerpts...
Quote:

ROSE: I don't know what Barack Obama's worldview is.

BROKAW: No, I don't either.

ROSE: I don't know how he really sees where China is.

BROKAW: We don't know a lot about Barack Obama and the universe of his thinking about foreign policy.

ROSE: I don't really know. And do we know anything about the people who are advising him?

BROKAW: You know that's an interesting question.

ROSE: He is principally known through his autobiography and through very aspirational (sic) speeches, two of them.

BROKAW: I don't know what books he's read.

ROSE: What do we know about the heroes of Barack Obama?

BROKAW: There's a lot about him we don't know.

ci·pher also cy·pher (sî'fər) Pronunciation Key
n.
The mathematical symbol (0) denoting absence of quantity; zero.
An Arabic numeral or figure; a number.
One having no influence or value; a nonentity.

A cryptographic system in which units of plain text of regular length, usually letters, are arbitrarily transposed or substituted according to a predetermined code.
The key to such a system.
A message written or transmitted in such a system.
A design combining or interweaving letters or initials; a monogram.
http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/cypher

I'm confused here Dwayne. Which one of these definitions are you referring to?

Cult of personality is a reference to overwhelming popularity so it can't be having no influence or value, a nonentity. And I highly doubt you're saying he's the number zero or a system of arbitrarily transposed letters according to some code, or a monogram.

It appears that you, sir, are the one who has no idea what he is talking about.

I wonder if you are going to own up to this or run away like you did regarding "Kevin's Law".
I didn't have to look up cypher and understood exactly what Dwayne was talking about.

By the way, he was also making a pun.

Obama followers use the two handed "O" symbol, which is jokingly referred to as "the zero" in conservative circles.

:wave2:

Suddenly I have that Living Colour song going through my head.

I don't know if this is just arrogant, or plain creepy:

http://apnews.myway.com/article/20081107/D94AASTG0.html

from Obama's first press conference. Note the "The Office of the President-Elect" sign. I notice the little Obama presidential seal is back at the top.

By the way, that was a really classy move taking a potshot at Nancy Reagan there, Barry!
