Okay this poll only recorded one of my choices, so I will say that in my area housing prices have dropped about 20% and rents, which run high here to begin with, are relatively static.

House prices back in Newcastle have continued to rize (up to about 20% in the last 12 months in my area (near the lake and beaches).

I hear rents have also increased about the same amount in the same period.

This is driven by cashed up Sydneyite superannuants coming here to retire , and by people who still work in Sydney moving here to take advantage of the cheaper housing (compared with Sydney) and the more relaxed lifestyle who commute to Sydney every day to work.
