What caught my eye about this article is that I have noticed more and more, especially on TV moreso than movies, that many young men are portrayed in ways this article talks about. From my own little world "consensus", I would generally agree with most of these figures. I've also always believed that for every "guy" jumping from girlfriend to girlfriend, there is a "girl" doing the same thing. Most guys I've ever known really suffered after a breakup, even if it was just a girlfriend, as opposed to a spouse. Many of us are just good at hiding it. gentlemen.... |

You know someone will eventually suggest, probably in a news report somewhere, that the answers to this poll are geared to create a false impression in an effort to get girls horizontal. |

Have to agree, by and large. I get sick and tired of shows like Home Improvement, Raymond, King of Queens, et. al., that the plot is usually: husband screws up, wife gets mad, husband has to make it right. Not to stereotype all sticoms like that, but there are certainly enough on the air. There's also a problem with the depication of parents, in general, for shows geared towards kids. The parents are either dysfunctional, stupid, mean, or just plain not there... |

Pretty much a backlash to the whole "Father Knows Best" or "Leave it to Beaver Era". Also stereotypes that never really existed either. I can say that I have only known a couple of guys in my life that came pretty close to the stereotype and that by and large people who knew them generally kept their wives/girlfriends away from these guys. |

True, but I'd rather rather them portray an ideal or positive goal to aim for than what they are now... Edited by HistoryDude, Jul 29 2008, 12:08 PM.

I also get tired of the "kids are the smart ones while parents (especially fathers) are complete idiots." Who writes this tripe? Look at some of the junk on Disney as an example. |

Good gosh don't get me started on Disney Channel crap. lol. Sure some of it is okay, but they do rarely show things about parenting. Kids now it seems MUSt be independent and with all the child stars out there I can see why they'd want to 'live the life' at younger and younger ages. |

The more succesfull family sit coms here the father is usually an oppressed and embattled figure. Dominated by his wife/mother-in-law/children/boss, you can pick all or any combination. From Father Dear Father to My Family there is the familiar line. |

CPA - some are more afraid then others. Some are willing to take the gamble, others shy away from it. It's my 17th wedding anniversary today. After that long and two kids to boot I can safely say that I have no fear of commitment. |

Tim Allen is very funny in my tool and car loving opinion. But the tire old dumpy, ignoramous idiot guy doing all the dumb things - married to the smart, rude, sassy, hottie in the push-up who is always the enlightened and right one does get old. In my house, I wear the push-up. |

Reminds me of the one episode I saw of "The World According to Jim." Fortunately my remote does have the ability to turn off a TV, too. |
