Something Crazy Happened to me Tonight

Actually a few days back. Driving from Austin to north west Llano County approaching Llano I passed a woman holding a baby waving me down.
I stopped. She was out to take pictures of wildflowers and the baby accidentially kicked the car door closed thusly standing them locked out on a Texas highway.
Step through it with me you pain in the ass.

I call pop a lock for LLano tx., no offices near result = fail
I call LLano tx Fire dept I get voice mail for volunteer peeps.
I call 411 for Llano county sheriff and I get a voicemail and a call back number.

Holy bick back bully blast spit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What the F?

I am now relegated to calling 911 to help this woman and her baby. Yes freaks its public record you can actually hear it I guess, when you are done hearing about 38957's bemusment or 8247's

Something CRAZY happened to me tonight

My wife wanted to buy something off craigslist, so I told her I would go get it. The catch? It was in the ghetto. No problem, I went, picked the item up, paid the person, and left. However, as I was on my way out, I stopped at an intersection. I heard a woman yelling HEY! I didnt think she was yelling at me, but then I saw her outside my window looking at me. I also saw a truck pulling up behind me. She said "PLEASE help me! That guy's gonna kill me!" I unlocked the door, and said "Get in." I could see from the dome light that she had been beaten. Her face was swollen, and she was bleeding. I could also hear the guy yelling. I made a right turn on red, and asked her where she needed to go. The guy in the truck turned the opposite way when the light turned green. She started giving me directions, and I asked her why she didnt call the police. She said "Because I was tricking with that guy!" I said "You don't need to tell them that!" She said that the cops knew her for prostitution.

So, a minute or two later, we get to the house she wanted to go to, and she gets out. She says "Thank you so much for helping me!" I said you're welcome. She then tells me to stop by sometime and she would "give me a freebie" to say thank you. I told her that I was married. Then, she says "You know you like some extra p***y!" I said "No thank you." She said "Thanks anyway, but if you change your mind, you know where I'm at." I told her to be safe, and I drove off.

W-o-w!

Guess what! (new career attempt)

I am scheduled to take the aptitude test on May 22 to become a cop.

My reasons for this are that I have always had an interest since I was 19, when I had a car stolen from me, but Florida makes you pay for the academy, and you arent guaranteed a job. In SC, you are hired prior to going to the academy, and are on the payroll 3 weeks before you start. Now, over the past few years, I have lost a couple good jobs due to downsizing, etc. So, I figure this would be a stable career that I can advance in, and it would also be a job that I can transfer anywhere. Basically, a last stop career.

Any suggestions?

What have you always wanted to know about

Just a fun thread.

What have you always wanted to know about the people on this board?

You can ask a question to the board generally or to a specific individual. Perhaps if you ask a question of an individual put their name in bold so it's easy for them to find it when scanning over the thread.

I'll start.

I would like to know of everyone, what is your favourite food?

I would like to ask Sophie who is publishing your book?

Music Recommendation Thread

Posted by Sophie (Moderator) at May 3 2012, 09:52 PM. 15 comments

I decided to start a music recommendation thread due to finding new music or artists I like due to people saying something about them and I listen to see if I like it. Last three discoveries: Metronomy (Mike Welsby posted a few videos), Lindsay Stirling (someone on Livejournal posted a few videos) and Neil Young (Husband's nephew was playing 'After The Gold Rush') Not even in the same genre, which is fine since my musical tastes are a bit eclectic anyway. I tend to pick up a bit here and there for various reasons. With Numbers by Kraftwerk it made me laugh when i was having a bad day, with Mitternacht I liked the music and loved the video that went with it.

The point of this thread would be for people to list what they like and others to suggest what they might like and then put what they like and so on.

Here are the ones I like and why: I put them behind a spoiler cut to take up less space.
Spoiler: click to toggle

There were three more but I didn't list them.

Anyone Else in Leadership?

This year (yes this'll be partly about church lol) at church I've helped start a Women's Ministry since we didn't have one. It'll be geared (hopefully!) towards lifting up our congregation's women and families.

Backstory:
Next week is our first BIG event: a Mother Daughter Tea. We're doing it in conjunction with my cousin's girlfriend's church, so a TON of planning had to be done. The major part of the discussion was cost. How much should it be? Should it be free? Age range priced or one set price? Etc.

Now I understand that you can't please everyone with everything, but I had it given to me by one lady who thought it was the CRAZIEST, WORST thing in the world that we had to pay money for a CHURCH event. We tried to explain it to her but nothing helped. (We had finally decided on $10 for adults, $5 for kids 5-10, kids under 5 free). Now I don't make a lot of money, but I agreed to the $10.

(backstory to the backstory: we had a soup cookoff that same sunday after church. the same lady had apparently gone to the people in charge, all mad, asking "WHY wasn't this a fundraiser this year??? WHY IS IT FREE?!")

Has anyone here ever been in a leadership position where you have to...not do damage control per say...but...deal with people who are hypocritical and gossipy?

Ya know....

With all the "old timers" coming back, it might be fun to try to get a Frimpy's Chat going at some point for old time's sake (Newbies are welcome too.)

What do you think?
