Hmm...bout 50/50.

Hulu thinks it should charge use for all the free movies, cartoons, and anime they stream.
They say that there will still be some free stuff but it won't be the same. :'(

Hulu never loved us in the first place, and this was no surprise at all. What sensible company would pay the immense price needed to air advertisements starring Alec Baldwin, Dennis Leary and one of the creators of Family Guy upon national television unless they were willing to squeeze the profits from their users?

Oh right:
"Hulu is a joint venture of NBC Universal (GE), Fox Entertainment Group (News Corp) and ABC Inc. (The Walt Disney Company), with funding by Providence Equity Partners, which made a US$100 million equity investment and holds a 10% stake."

They need to satisfy shareholders somehow.

No, actually. I don't mind the 2-4 10 second commercials placed through-out a movie or episode of a show, if anyone actually does, its rather pathetic. What does bother me is a site that advertises how it is free and stands on that exact stone to gain fame is no longer going to offer that service. It is a shame.

Of the advertisements, I had always thought the advantage of video upon the internet was the ability to view it without the annoyance of television, so how does altering the internet to become more like television not completely destroy the point and ruin the experience? Seemingly, one of the things which has made the internet so enjoyable was the lack of commercial interest, which often allows for greater quality and freedom in content.

Also, there is good laugh when you think, "I can sit through commercials, thus, I must be stronger than the weak whiners!" We do not cry ourselves to sleep from the advertisements, but when paying for the internet, the availability of things without profitable irritations such as those is simply expected, which returns to my previous opinions. Ah never mind all that, because, like everyone else, I have no care and should not, for I never used the service, and was merely using this thread as an excuse for social commentary again.

I agree, I'm honestly tired of being beaten over the head everywhere I look with advertising, and 99% of those ads have no impact on me, so why do I have to sit through them?

Ditto, I'd rather buy the DVD of whatever it is if its good enough and even DVDs have ads.

Little bit late to this comment, but I just felt the need to say that I honestly didn't think about it that way. I just assumed 'Something to whine about' was the primary subject for debate here and that people always finding new things to whine about was the matter at hand. A rather narrow minded POV at best, but PAWG isn't really known for producing mind-expanding arguments.

I was sort of upset at first, then I realized I hardly ever use the site, and it's much easier to find movies/tv shows/anime on some other site anyway.
