sorry long post ok at my work today. I had this lady who was nice and all. but she was getting stuff of her daughter's wedding registry, btw I work for williams-sonoma, a very high end kitchen supply store. ok so this actually started last week. my co-worker jennifer p. asked me to see if we had these particular items in stock and if so put them on hold because the mother of the bride was going to come in and get these items. she said she would be in the store on friday *today* and she wanted them giftwrapped which is free at WS. usually if the customer gets something already wrapped ahead of time and will pay for it when they come in, usually they won't change their minds right? mind you this was going to be close to a hmmm *gets a calculator* I am looking at the website for my store to see how much each item is. ok it would of been like $919.95 plus tax originally, but then she changed her mind and since I wasn't the one that wrapped the whole slew of gifts, I didn't know what was in each box. the person or persons wrapped it into 8 12x12 boxes which is a lot plus also had to be wrapped a $300 mixer well the thing is the lady changed her mind when she came in and only wanted half of the stuff so since the boxes didn't have tags on it to say what was in each box. I had to unwrap all the boxes to see what was inside and I found out that no one took the price tags off. number one rulle of gift wrapping *take the prices off no matter what* well so I had to do that and my co-worker was helping me do that. Plus there was too much ummm don't know how to say this, this stuff we call geami *gee ah me* it's like paper bubblewrap as best as I can explain it. but anyways, who ever wrapped it put way too much geami around the stuff and that is why it was in so many boxes. when I had to rewrap the lady's gifts, I was able to put it into 3 boxes because I kick butt lol. that is including me not using so much geami in the packages. but man I was mad earlier. I found out who it was at my work and it was the new guy which is funny because he also worked in another WS in another state but he said sorry and he didn't check to see if the prices were off or not he assumed they were. don't assume anything lol I told him. but he only wrapped 2 of the 8 boxes and I found out who wrapped the rest and it's a girl that has been working with me plenty of times and she has wrapped gifts plenty of times and she knows to look for the stickers but I guess this time she didn't which she should know better. It seems lately that girl has been slacking off at my work, I mean how hard is it to put something away that is arm's reach of you and you can see I am gift-wrapping like crazy and you ask me to help you put this for an example a mug away. when you know where it goes and you can reach that shelf. why do you ask me to put it away when you are going to that very shelf to get another mug of a different style?!?! stupid huh? well we still got the sale from the one lady, but jen and I were like never again are we going to do a prewrap for wedding registry unless they are going to stick to their original purchase and if not the customer, the other people in the back of house aka stockroom which I work at. but leave little notes to tell me or any other person what is in the giftwrap. it seems like only a few of us leave notes. I was telling one of my managers about this and she was like well it is a wedding gift and it's going to all the same person so they won't care if the prices are on. *me* yeah right lol. I take them off no matter what. the bride knows how much the stuff is because she or her soon to be husband did to the registry themselves so they know how much of it costs. but still I write notes or codes on paper saying what in each box, so we don't have this type of mishap. sorry for venting all this stuff you guys. I go through a lot of weird stuff daily at my store. it's so funny because we have walkie talkies at my store to communate to each other, when I am on my 10 minute break, I happen to be sitting in the area near the shipping desk which I also do the shipping there as well. everyone keeps on asking me where is this and where is that? which I don't mind that much, but when I tell you exactly where it is, what section and what shelf. they still go, "I don't see it, help me find it" and when I go find it for them, even though I am on my break. what really is funny is I am just too nice to everyone there. but it's reallllly funny when I am on my lunch and I am eating there they still ask me. or if no one is back of house for that 30 minutes or an hour lunch I get sometimes. they know where that thing is, they just want me to get it. there is one BOH *back of house* person that has been there the same amount of time as me, we were both hired on the same day, I was interviewed with her, but man you would think of being there a year and 2 months you would know where stuff is. I even have to tell her where stuff is! which sucks. but it seems like none of the people on the sales floor will call back to the BOH but they will when I say I am back from my lunch and then I get call after call after call. basically I run around a lot at my work!! up and downstairs. but I think it's funny that they call me the most out of everyone that is working in the back with me all day. sorry yet again for my venting. that was my day for 6/22/07 how was your day? :D can you top my average day? lol. oh yeah btw the lady spent close to 607.95 plus tax for the stuff her daughter wanted, still a good sale but man the hassle grrr lol. |

we did hire new people. I will see how they work out. I only saw 2 people hired but there might be some more. fresh meat mwhahaha, sorry I call all the new people at my work fresh meat lol. well I do :). when they work there a little bit longer, I call them seasoned meat lol. lots of the people in the front *sales people* want to be cross-trained so they can do the back of house stuff too, but when they see what I do, they change their minds. plus you have to do a lot of running. well I do it so I can get those idiot customers out of my store so my co-workers don't have to deal with them anymore. |
