Posted Image Rain aims for the American market after winning Best Buzz Asia Award in Japan 2005-05-30 Singer Rain won the Best Buzz Asia Award at the MTV Video Music Awards Japan 2005, which was held May 29 at the Tokyo Bay NK Hall. The music festival, now in its fourth year, was attended by 8,000 people. The festival is organized annually by MTV Japan to recognize the best and most popular music videos of the year. Rain was the only Asian performing artist, aside from some Japanese singers, who was invited to perform on the same stage with Mariah Carey, Amuro Namie, Orange Range, Ashanti, Hoobastank and Jamiroquai. The audience was mesmerized when the singer started dancing onstage to the powerful sound and dynamic beat of his song “It's Raining.” In his acceptance speech Rain, mixing Korean with English and Japanese, said that he was grateful for the award and promised to work harder to become an even better artist. A day later receiving the prize, Rain said in an interview on May 30 that he is now poised to establish his presence in the U.S. During the interview, Rain said that his next goal is to win an award at the MTV China Awards in August. He added that by achieving his next goal, he would be able to make advancement to the American market. Rain, who is riding high in popularity in Japan, China and Thailand, has emerged as a rising “world star” and is soon to record several songs with “hip-hop queen” Lil’ Kim. Rain will give concerts at the Tokyo International Forum July 30-31 and the Osaka Welfare Center Aug. 3-4.#AMR# //Seoul |
