G.O.D. Member Will Renounce His US Citizenship
2005-05-23

Son Ho-young, member of the popular music group G.O.D., said Monday he decided not to renounce his Korean citizenship and instead will fulfill his mandatory military service.
Son's announcement comes after the 25-year-old singer, who is a dual Korean and U.S. citizen, was met with severe criticism on Internet message boards when he tried to give up his Korean citizenship.
Although the singer later said his dual citizenship was a case of “an administrative error,” Internet users accused him of being a “second Yoo Seung-joon,” referring to the pop singer who in 2002 was banned from entering Korea after he gave up his Korean citizenship. Other users called for G.O.D. to stop performing.
Son was born in New Jersey in 1980 but returned to South Korea at the age of 4 and has lived here ever since.#AMR#

Thanks for the updates; I'm just curious how is he renouncing his US citizenship then? Do folks have to choose at a certain age or time period, or can they retain dual?
Woof!

I'm not sure what the military does with dual citizens. It is more an example he was setting, appearing to be hiding from the draft, by having two citizenships. (I also wonder what the IRS thinks...)
(and thanks for your kind comments. I try to keep our board FIRST with accurate news. I think that KBS is spanking me, by not putting up stories as early as they used to, because I was spoofing them with their own stuff!)
