Posted Image Indi Festival to Promote Self-respect 2005-03-31 Lifeline, an organization dedicated to helping prevent suicides committed by young people, and a group of indie artists are holding a variety of cultural activities aimed at persuading people to choose life over death. “Indie Festival: In Search of Myself” will be held in the Daehangno district of downtown Seoul April 4-5, with major clubs and theaters offering venues. The performances will be conducted under the slogan of “I Love Myself, I Respect Myself.” Indie Festival organizers noted that there is prejudice about youngsters, but not all of them are stuck with hopelessness. Indie bands and artists, for example, are quite open about their feelings and willing to express their freedom in a positive way. A total of 20 indie bands will join the festival and other indie artists in the fields of cartoon and visual art will present their works. To open up fresh opportunities, the organizers are holding auditions for new indie bands. In Seoul, there are thousands of obscure indie bands, many of whom are finding it hard to present their music due to the dearth of clubs and bars. Established indie bands like No Brain, Oh! Brothers, Mister Funky, Sang Sang Band and six indie bands who pass the audition will jointly hold a concert at Daehangno Club SH April 4-5. Tickets are priced at 5,000 won. All the income from the concert will be donated to a campaign to reduce suicides.#AMR# //Seoul |
