"Somehow, Somewhere" is the name of this new fanfic. I finished this one on 11.28.04. This one isn't as long as "Rurouni Angels" and has NOTHING to do with it. The two stories are not related in any way. Thing about this one is there was a big gap in between when I started and where I finished especially with the last episode. That one didn't get finished until more than a month after the episode before it. I do have some criticisms toward this one though. This one is actually more action based. And it is hard to do an action fanfic if the reader can't picture it going on or even know what's being described. I'm trying not to put this down, but just stating that it is different from "Rurouni Angels." Hope you enjoy it. Hope it's somewhat likeable for you readers. If not, read my other story again then, ha. "Rurouni Angels" |

Episode I - Intro - “...it's been a while now...but it still hurts. Even though I keep busy so that my mind will stay occupied, there's always those times when those thoughts go away and thoughts of you surface. Every day...every night...there is never a day that goes by that I wouldn't think about you.” EunJin: Hey. Arnell: ...mm... EunJin: Hey, wake up. - She gives him a gentle nudge. Arnell slowly opens his eyes to the view of others standing up. EunJin takes him by the hand and helps him onto his feet. The subway stops and the two file in line to exit. Out on the streets... Arnell: ... EunJin: I can't believe you fell asleep on the subway. Arnell: ...very tired. EunJin: I know you are. I feel you move around at night. Arnell: Sorry. Is that keeping you up? EunJin: Sometimes, but it's okay. I know you've had trouble sleeping for a while now. If there's anything I could do to help you fall asleep then let me know. Arnell: Okay. - They make their way through the sea of people and enter a small donut shop. Arnell goes to sit down as EunJin goes over to the counter to order. The tired companion rests his head down on the table he is at. A minute later, he brings his head up. Immediately, he notices a small group of guys looking through the window of the shop right at him. Their eyes meet and the group spreads out. Arnell: Damn... EunJin: Something wrong? - She stands next to him with a box of donuts in hand. Arnell gives a sigh and gives her a look. EunJin: Ah! Really? Arnell: Mm-hmm. EunJin: You know, I really want to eat these. Arnell: Then let's eat. EunJin: What about..? Arnell: Screw them. We have to deal with them everyday. I'm not about to put having a life on hold just because we have to run into them all the time. Let them wait outside. EunJin: But what if they come in? Arnell: Sit down. Eat. - He pulls out a chair and EunJin sits. They take their time and eat up the box of donuts. Several glances are made towards the window as the two notice the men walking back and forth. Minutes pass by and the two finish eating. EunJin hesitantly starts to leave, but is soon dragged out by Arnell. They walk out hand-in-hand and walk on. Arnell: You see them? EunJin: Two are behind us, one is on the roof two buildings away, and two more are walking on the other side of the street coming our way. Arnell: You're so good at spotting them. Okay. We'll make them follow us to the warehouse behind the building that one guy is on so no one else gets hurt. EunJin: Got it. - They turn to an alley and make it over to the warehouse. They walk to the middle of the abandoned warehouse and wait. Gradually, each of the five men enters in from different entrances and surrounds the two. Arnell: What's up? Your boss keeps sending more of you guys out. EunJin: It must be horrible to go back to him and have to report of your failures. Guy: Shut up, woman! - *punch* Arnell: C'mon. Less talking and more action. - Arnell kicks the same guy into two others. Then each takes the remaining two one-on-one. Arnell runs off to a separate part of the warehouse followed by one of the standing men. Arnell stops and turns around and misses a roundhouse kick. The man ducks and goes for a sweep. The sweep is hopped over and Arnell connects with a kick to the side of the head. He then grabs him and throws him toward a steel girder. Two more guys come for him and he runs off. - EunJin is blocking a series of punches and kicks. Finally, one punch manages to get through to her side. She stumbles back and blocks an oncoming heel kick. She grabs the foot and pushes the guy off and punches him in the back. The guy regains his balance and advances. He attempts a jump kick, but EunJin ducks under and hits him in the lower extremities as he flies over. - With another guy down, another one immediately comes for her. He pushes her into a pile of cardboard boxes. She takes a while to come up from the pile. The man grabs her by her shirt collar and picks her up over his head. From behind, Arnell rolls into the guy's legs causing him to fall back onto a cement block knocking him out. EunJin falls from the man's grasp. Arnell catches her and the two roll off a short distance. They get up and are met with the final two men. - One of the guys comes out swinging a wooden 2x4 at both of them. EunJin jumps away and onto the other guy and gives him a huracarana onto the hard floor. She is then knocked down by the 2x4. Arnell comes from behind the man with the weapon and holds on to him. Arnell: Tell your boss it's too early for this. Man: Tell him yourself. - The man elbows Arnell in the stomach to free himself. He takes a swing, but Arnell catches it under his arm. He tries to free the board from Arnell, but is unable to. Arnell swings him around a few times before releasing the board. The man wobbles off and gets an uppercut from Arnell. The board comes flying up. Arnell takes it and swings a powerful hit into the man's stomach. Arnell lets go of the board and goes to check on EunJin who is slowly getting up. Arnell: You okay? EunJin: ...ow. - He helps her up and she puts an arm over him. The two begin to walk out. EunJin: What time is it? Arnell: Only 2pm. EunJin: ...it's too early for this. Arnell: I know. C'mon. Let's get back home and ice your back. That board shot must've been bad. EunJin: Yeah...can't believe I let that happen. - They walk out of the warehouse. -...- Man 1: Sorry, sir. Man 2: Yeah. We'll do better next time, Angelo. Angelo: Hmph. - Angelo turns around in his chair to face his ailing colleagues. Angelo: I'm tired of you and the others coming back here day after day looking like crap! I don't pay you to get your asses beat. I pay you to take him out. Man 1: We know. Angelo: Doesn't seem like it. Man 3: He's just a good fighter. So is that girl that's with him. - He rubs the top of his head. Angelo: I would think that after all this time that they would've been somewhat worn out enough for someone to take them out. Man 1: It's not enough for you that he has to deal with you every day of his life? - Angelo stands up and gives a stern look to the men in attendance. Angelo: It'll never be enough. - The men hold their breath thinking the worst is to happen. Angelo simply comes out from behind his desk and walks to the door. Angelo: Go to the training room to learn to use the new gadgets we received. Some of you may be sent out again later today. - He opens the door and the men file out. A beep comes from Angelo's desk. He returns to his chair and pushes a button. Angelo: Yes? (Woman): Sir, we have the report you asked for. Angelo: Have someone send it up and I'll take a look at it. (Woman): Yes, sir. - Angelo leans back in his chair. Angelo (T): Arnell...it's been too long. I told you things would go my way someday. -...- EunJin: ...ooh...that's SO good... Arnell: You like that? EunJin: Mm-hmm! Do it harder. Arnell: Like this? EunJin: OH, yeah..! - Arnell massages her back harder. EunJin: A girl can get used to this. Mm... - He brushes her hair off to the side to massage her neck and shoulders. EunJin: You're really good at this. I never knew. Arnell: I swear I've given you a massage before. EunJin: I would remember something that felt this great. Trust me. Arnell: That hit to your back seemed pretty hard. EunJin: It was. I'll try to keep my guard up next time. Maybe we should train a little more before the day is over. Arnell: Maybe. I'll help you get more familiar to weapon-based attacks. EunJin: Sounds good. I saw you take that 2x4 shot under your arm. I'm sure that hurt a little. Arnell: It did. It felt better once I gave that guy an uppercut. EunJin: Did you see what I did? Arnell: Yeah. I never saw you do that before. EunJin: It just came to me. I wasn't sure if I had enough strength to pull it off. Arnell: Good thing you did. Your leg strength is better than mine. EunJin: You know all those holds though. Those hurt a lot. Arnell: They're better for one-on-one though. When there's a group of guys I can't hold on to one for that long. EunJin: I'm sure you could snap a bone quickly though if you tried. Arnell: Maybe. More? EunJin: Yes, please. - He puts more massage oil on EunJin's back and continues. EunJin: Mm... Arnell: Do I get a massage in return? EunJin: I'm not good at it like you are. Arnell: I don't care. I ache, too. Anything will feel good. EunJin: We'll see. Arnell: What time do you have work today? EunJin: Monday? Arnell: Yeah. EunJin: I should leave at 5. Then I'm supposed to work until midnight, but I'll see if I can leave early or just finish my stuff earlier. Arnell: What for? EunJin: Just to come home and rest and to make sure you're okay. Arnell: Haha. I'll be fine. EunJin: I hope so. You never know now. We got that unexpected visit earlier today. Arnell: Yeah...you would think they would just let up for one day. EunJin: Well, that's the mess we're in. Now we just have to deal with it. Arnell: Actually, you didn't have to be a part of this. EunJin: I know that. I chose to. I'm glad I found out about this so you wouldn't have to go through this alone. I don't think you'd be able to take all this on by yourself. Arnell: I could and I was. - EunJin turns over. Arnell begins to massage her arms. EunJin: And you know what, you would probably be in worse condition than you are now. Arnell: What are you talking about? I'm in fine condition. - She pulls her arm he is massaging, turns him around, and gently jabs him in the back. He lets out a small grunt. She spins him around again and he continues to massage. Arnell: That has always been there. EunJin: Good thing they don't know about it. You would be really screwed by now. Arnell: ... EunJin: You want a massage? Arnell: Maybe later. You should go get ready to leave for work. - She tilts her head back to look at a clock. EunJin: Time flies. Okay. I'm going to go shower. - *kiss* -...- - Angelo watches through a window down at the training room. A woman standing next to him hands him a walkie-talkie. Angelo: Yes? (Lady): Sir, your stock has risen. Would you like to buy more or sell? Angelo: ...leave it alone for now. Buy more shares of two stocks that aren't rising. (Lady): Yes, sir. Anything else? Angelo: Push my 4 o'clock meeting an hour back if you can. Let me know if they're not able to make that time or if they need to reschedule. (Lady): Yes, sir. - Angelo hands off the walkie-talkie and continues watching the men training with weapons and gadgets. One of the men uses a stun gun on another. Another uses a grapple hook to swing around walls and obstacles in the room. A third person tries out a pair of glove claws on a padded dummy. Angelo nods approvingly and makes his way downstairs and into the training room to talk to the men in there. -...- - EunJin leaves in her car for work. Arnell goes back into the house and gets a bottle of water from the kitchen. He takes it outside into his big back yard. His walk outside takes him over to a small pond they have. He watches as a few fish swim by. He takes a nearby can of food and sprinkles it over. The fish rush together to eat, but then quickly disperse. Arnell lets out a big sigh. He stands and turns around to see three men standing by waiting for him. Arnell: This is a first. Never had to deal with this at home. - He walks over to the biggest of the three. Arnell: You first. - The man nods. The other two spread out as the large man and Arnell pace backwards creating more space between themselves. The large man readies himself and gestures Arnell to come to him. Arnell slowly makes his way over. About five feet away from him, Arnell throws his bottle of water at his head. The man blocks it, which causes the water to splash out. The water splashes onto the man's face. With the distraction in place, Arnell takes the man by the head and quickly takes him down with a DDT. Arnell rolls away and readies himself. The man is down and out. Arnell looks to the other two men and motions with his head for them to come. The shorter of the two advances and starts a flurry of punches and kicks. The first few connect, but the rest are blocked. Arnell grabs one of his legs after blocking a kick and whips his leg really hard causing the man to fall over. Arnell takes his foot and quickly turns him over and pulls back on his knee. Man: AH! DAMMIT! MY LEG! - Arnell lets go to meet the final of the three. A quick combination of punches is sent Arnell's way. The punches pack power and force Arnell to back up close to the pond. The man throws in a trip that catches Arnell. He lands hard on the ground, but protects his head from hitting the stone pond with his hand. He looks up and rolls away to avoid a stomp to the face. Arnell rolls off more and finally rises to his feet. He keeps on running as he is chased down. He turns around and ducks a kick from the man. Coming up from the kick, Arnell blocks a punch and pulls the man off to the side. The man recovers, but receives a kick to the shoulder. The man holds his arm and then takes a kick to the side of his neck causing him to go down to one knee. He holds up his free hand to Arnell as if to say "no more". The large man comes over helping up the other man with the bad leg. Arnell: That's it? Man: Yeah...you're as good as we've heard. Arnell: Tell Angelo he needs to do better. This is becoming a bit of a routine now. Man: Well, then you won't be disappointed when things pick up. - The men escape. Arnell: Ugh... - He slowly walks back into the house holding his side. Arnell (T): ...it has got to end sometime, Angelo... |

Episode II - Intro - "Work is the same. The usual customers come and we talk and chat. Some of them do still ask about you. It doesn't bother me. It actually feels great to talk about you sometimes. Do you remember Linh? She always likes to talk about you and the great times we've had together. She's so sweet. Keeps everything upbeat despite what has happened. But our store is having great business. It keeps me busy and helps bring in more money." Arnell: Thank you very much. Don't forget to return it on Friday. Gentleman: Thank you, Arnell. Have a nice day. Arnell: You, too. - The man leaves. Arnell walks over to take a drink from the back end of the sales refrigerator. He starts to walk back to his spot behind the counter where a customer is waiting. Young Woman: Isn't that stealing? Arnell: Not when it's my own store, Anna. You want one? Anna: For free? Arnell: You can pay if you want. Anna: I'll take a free one. Arnell: Haha. Go ahead and take one. - She goes over and takes a tea drink. She takes a sip and joins Arnell behind the counter. Arnell slides a stool over to her. She puts it aside and sits on the inflated mattress he has back there. Arnell: You here to help me out? Anna: Just came to visit, but if you need help then I'll help. Arnell: Great. Could you go put some gas in my car then? - She gives him a glare. Anna: I'll help you IN the store if you need help. Arnell: Haha. Okay. No classes today? Anna: Actually, my classes were cancelled. Had nothing else to do so I thought I would drop by. Arnell: Lucky me. Anna: Hehe. Yeah. Arnell: No work? Anna: Later today. Arnell: Oh. How is work? Anna: Nothing special. Just work. Pays the bills and buys me things, hehe. How is the store doing? Arnell: It's doing well. It makes a profit at least. Anna: It's amazing that you actually have your own store. Arnell: It's only a small video store. It has loyal customers that know they can get international stuff that they can't get at other huge and well known stores around here. Anna: Your parents must be proud of what you've done with it. Arnell: They are. I told you that I bought it from them, right? - She takes a sip and nods. Anna: It was really nice of you to save up so much money to help pay for their early retirement. They must be happy back in the Philippines. Arnell: Oh yeah. They call me all the time making sure everything is okay. I wanted them to relax since they have done so much for my brother and I. Plus they're both in their 50s and I don't know how long they can be working. I know my dad is still doing things because he is always working on some type of project. Anna: Seems like you got that from him. Arnell: Probably. Anna: How is EunJin doing? Still working hard? Arnell: Ever since she started. Anna: I'm still not used to seeing her all dressed up just for work. Arnell: She pulls it off well. Anna: I'm sure you like that, Arnell. Arnell: You know I do. You look good yourself, dressed up or not. Anna: Hey now... - She slaps her right hand into her left hand towards Arnell. Arnell: Haha. - A customer walks in. Anna gets up and joins Arnell. Arnell: Hi. Anna: Hello. May we help you? Man: Just returning some tapes. Bye. Anna: Bye. - The man leaves. Arnell takes the bag of tapes and starts to check each one of them. Anna goes back to the bed and lies down. Anna: So how are things with you and EunJin going? You must like living together with her, hehe. Arnell: Can't complain. It is nice to have someone like her living with me. Anna: Hehe. She is a wonderful person. I like hanging out with her. Arnell: You should come hang out with us more often. Anna: Oh, I wouldn't want to interrupt...things. Arnell: You could always join...ahem... Anna: You wish, Arnell. - Arnell pulls out a piece of paper left in the bag of tapes. He reads it. Anna: It won't happen. Arnell: I know. Just throwing it out there in case you or her were ever in the mood. Anna: Uh-huh...whatever. - Arnell crumbles the paper. Arnell: How long until you go to work? Anna: Hours. Why? Arnell: You think you could watch the store for me? I just remembered that I need to pick up a new shipment of dvds and tapes that are coming in soon. Anna: Good thing I'm here then. You would probably leave them there if you had no one to watch over the place. Arnell: Yeah. Anna: If you want, I could always go pick it up for you instead. Arnell: They ask for ID. Security reasons. Thanks for the offer though. Anna: No problem. You heading out now? Arnell: Unless you wish I stay behind so we can make out for a while. - She glares and slaps her hands again at him. Arnell: I'm out of here then. Help yourself to some of the candy and drinks. If anyone asks for phone cards, they're in the bottom drawer of the black cabinet case. There's also extra money and change if you need some although I doubt you will. The middle of the week are usually slow days. Anna: Got it. Arnell: I'll be back. Anna: Drive carefully. - Anna takes a bar of candy as Arnell drives away. Minutes later, he arrives at an office building. He parks his car and walks over to the entrance. He passes it up and walks to the building under construction next to it. He surveys the area around him. Some equipment and other things remain lying around from the lazy construction team who are most likely on a lunch break. The hot sun found its way through some of the patches and cracks still not finished. Arnell moves a few things around to busy himself. He then takes a chair and places it close to a large crate. He sits and leans back using the crate for support. A minute goes by and someone enters through a hole in the wall. Man: You're early. Arnell: I never like being late. Man: Comfortable? Arnell: As much as I can be in a place like this. - The suited man walks up to him and tosses him a sealed envelope. He opens it up and takes a look at the papers inside. Arnell: Mm...okay. This looks good. Thanks for the info, Vic. Vic: No problem. Arnell: Next time, if you could... Vic: I'm working on getting you some pictures. It's hard to bring in a camera to the building. High security. Arnell: I know. Try your best. Also...how about picking a better place to meet up next time? Vic: Yeah, sure. Just that it was the closest place I could think of between our work areas. Arnell: You sure they don't know that you're doing stuff for me? I need my tracks covered. There are so many of them and just one of me. Vic: I'm sure they don't know anything. - Arnell gets up and shakes his hand. Vic: But if you really want to make sure, you better dispose of that guy over there. - Vic points up as someone silently runs around on the steel beams. Vic: Watch out for this guy. He likes to fight dirty. Arnell: Thanks. Get out of here. - Vic leaves the same way he came in. Arnell looks up as the man runs from beam to beam before being low enough to jump off safely. He stands a few yards in front of Arnell. Man: Who was that? Arnell: A friend. Man: Sounds like that's all I'm going to get out of you. Time to shut up and fight me then. - Arnell shrugs his shoulders. The man runs off quickly and goes for some dirt on the floor. He lunges and tosses the dirt at Arnell. Arnell covers up his eyes, but gets jabbed in the stomach. The man rushes off in another direction. This time he grabs two handfuls of dirt and throws one towards Arnell's eyes. The dirt is ducked, but the two meet closer to the ground. The man rolls and dusts Arnell with the second hand of dirt that catches him in the face. Arnell rolls off and tries to wipe off the dirt, but is kicked repeatedly on the floor. He tries to roll away as the man continues kicking. Finally, the man pins Arnell down and begins to unleash a flurry of punches all over. Arnell does his best to cover up as the punches keep coming. The man jumps off Arnell and rushes off. Arnell gets up as he wipes his eyes. He scouts the room for the man. He hears a rattle on the floor. His eyes turn to the noise, but then are brought over to a glass pane that shatters close to him. He looks up to find the man at a crate of glass panes. The throwing of glass starts. Arnell dodges a few and ducks under more. Some glass breaks close to his feet. The shards bounce off and pierce him from the knee down. The man forces Arnell up against a wall. He chuckles and then throws more glass. They break off along the wall beside Arnell. The shards penetrate him all over now. Arnell covers up as best as he can with his jacket. He makes it a point to duck down and protect his face. The onslaught continues for a couple minutes, but abruptly stops with a resounding thud. Arnell questions what has happened. He opens up his jacket to find EunJin standing above the now unconscious man. EunJin: You okay? - She walks over to Arnell and helps brush off the glass. EunJin: You have cuts all over you. Arnell: Nothing major though. EunJin: Do you have some first-aid things at the store? I assume that's where you'll be going after this. Arnell: Yeah. I have bandages stored somewhere. If not, I'll buy some. EunJin: Okay. - She brushes off the last few bits of glass and starts to wipe off some of the blood. She gives him a kiss on the cheek. EunJin: Be more careful next time. These little injuries add up. Arnell: How did you know to come here, EunJin? EunJin: Did you get a note? I did. I was late because I needed to finish up a report before being able to leave for a small break. Sorry that I wasn't here sooner for you. Arnell: It's okay. You came at a good enough time to stop this guy. With? EunJin: A small lead pipe. Found it when walking in here. Arnell: My savior. EunJin: Bring home dinner and we'll call it even. - She kisses him and starts to leave. EunJin: Sorry to rush. Need to get back before my break is over. Bye, Arnell. - She leaves. Arnell takes a long walk back to his car to head off to the store. The whole way back, he tries to pull off as much glass from his pants as he can. He almost gets into a couple of accidents because of that. Finally, he returns to the store just as a few customers leave. Anna is counting the change to be sure of the last exchange. Anna: That didn't take too long. Arnell: Yeah. Wrong day... Anna: Really? Hehe. It's not like you to be forgetful about things like this. So... - She closes the cash register and turns around. She gasps as she notices the cuts covering Arnell's body. Anna: Oh, my gosh! What happened to you? Arnell: You want the truth or a lie? Anna: A lie. Arnell: A truck turned over as I came out of the building over there. Lots of the shrapnel flew and hit me all over. Anna: Oh...I see. - Arnell goes to the bathroom and comes out with a box of bandages. He sits down on the mattress. He starts to apply some on himself. Anna pulls the stool close by and helps put some bandages on him. Anna: ...I'm not the only one you keep things from? Arnell: You're not. Anna: Oh... Arnell: Sorry, Anna. There's just some things I don't want people to know or get involved in. Anna: You're not involved in some illegal activity are you? Arnell: No. That's one thing that's true. Anna: How long have we known each other? Arnell: A couple of years. Anna: I know we haven't been really close, but you know that the others and I would be there for you if something is wrong. We or at least I have noticed that you seemed more banged up than usual. If you're getting yourself hurt all the time at least let us take care of you. You're a great friend who does what we ask for without asking for anything back. I'm throwing out an offer to help if and when you need it, okay? - He nods. She puts a bandage over his right eyebrow. Anna: Don't make me force any help on you. Arnell: Ha. Anna: I mean it. - He nods again. Anna waits for him to look up at her. She slaps her hands together again. He chuckles. A customer comes in. Anna goes over to the counter. Anna: Hi. Customer: Hello. Arnell: Looking for anything in particular? - Arnell joins Anna. The man asks for Arnell to come closer. He whispers something to him. Arnell: Oh. Back corner. |

Episode III - Intro - "I couldn't keep the garden maintained well. Umm...EunJin is actually taking care of it now. The garden is really great out front. Sorry, but we got rid of some of the plants in the backyard. The ones that are left are the ones near the pond. It looks like a nice scenery set up back there...sort of like something from a movie or book. I know you would like it. I was actually the one to set it up, too. I bet that's a surprise to you. I keep it looking really good because I know how much you loved the pond. With the plants out of the way, the backyard is a whole lot bigger. It's really nice." - Arnell and EunJin are out in their big backyard training. The sun has begun to set. Both are sweating and breathing hard after already training for an hour. Arnell is wearing a white t-shirt with no sleeves and black sweat pants. EunJin wears a white halter-top and white sweat pants along with a purple headband. They charge at each other. Arnell comes in with a clothesline. EunJin slides under and attempts a sweep kick. Arnell flips over and turns. He delivers a series of punches that EunJin successfully blocks. She comes back with quick kick and punch combos which Arnell blocks. He grabs her leg and performs a leg-waist take down that sends her to the ground. She quickly flips up and side kicks him in the ribs. He recovers while ducking a palm slap and body slams EunJin. He quickly hops to her legs and attempts a sharpshooter. With her legs wrapped up, EunJin manages to pull herself up and deliver a forearm to the face. She lands on her hands, but then is grabbed from behind. Arnell lifts her up. She begins to punch the top of his head. Arnell begins to stagger over to the small pond in the backyard. He power bombs EunJin into the water. She stands soaking wet. She sprinkles a few drops of water at Arnell and charges in with more kicks and punches. Arnell throws a punch, but gets thrown down and hit in the shoulder. He rolls to avoid a stomp and gets up. He goes for another clothesline and connects flipping EunJin onto her chest. She pops up and charges. Arnell does a standing dropkick. EunJin slides to the side while Arnell is still in the air, she uppercuts his spine, kicks both his arms causing him to spin, elbows him in the ribs, and makes him land on his stomach on her knee. She pushes him off her knee. Arnell gets up slowly, but catches EunJin off guard with a spinning heel kick. They get up and stare each other down. They lock up in a test of strength. They push each other back and forth turning in many directions coming closer and closer to the pond. Both smile and giggle knowing that they intend to do the same thing. When they reach the pond, Arnell Trips over a rock falling backwards into the pond while taking EunJin with him. They sit in the pond laughing at each other. The fish jump excitedly. EunJin: I guess we're done for now. Arnell: Yeah. Go on ahead. I'll be in there soon. EunJin: Sure. I'm going to head in for a shower. I'll be quick. I promise. - She helps herself out and goes into the house. Arnell remains sitting in the pond. He watches the fish swim over his stomach. He then runs his hands over the rocks that surround the water. - *FLASH* - A hand meets with his from the other side of the pond. - *FLASH* - He quickly pulls his hand back. He touches his hand and then looks back over to the rocks. Nothing there. Arnell: ... - He gets up and takes off his wet shirt. He hangs it over a wooden rail outside. He takes a small washcloth nearby and towels himself off as best as he can. The washcloth is thrown to the side as Arnell heads back in. He takes a seat on the floor close to the television. He lays back and turns on it on with the remote control. (Reporter): ...has started less than half an hour ago. Firefighters have quickly arrived on the scene here in the northwest part of Rinoasai. The fire has spread, but not a lot thanks to the firefighters keeping things under control. Witnesses are saying that a small-unknown gang started the fire. It was started by a firebomb thrown into the already vacated home, which is now almost completely burned down as you can see. Thankfully, no one has been hurt or injured in the fire. Arnell: ... - EunJin walks in, drying off her hair with a towel. She looks at the screen to see the fire. Her eyes dart toward Arnell who sighs. She goes over and kneels behind him and gives him a hug. Arnell lets his head hang down as a small smile forms. EunJin: You okay? Arnell: ...yeah. - She helps him up to his feet. EunJin: Go shower. When you come out, dinner will be waiting for you. Okay? Arnell: Okay. - He leaves. (Reporter): ...is almost completely out. Police are trying to link this fire with the horrible fire in the south side of town that happened two months ago. They think a link can be established since there was a similar fire that occurred two months before that one also and the one... - She takes the remote and turns off the television. EunJin goes over to the kitchen and starts to cook. -...- - They finish dinner. Arnell takes the plates up as EunJin wipes up the table. Arnell begins to wash the dishes. As he soaps up a dish... - *FLASH* - A hand joins him in washing the dish. - *FLASH* - Arnell snaps out of it as he feels EunJin's hand grab the dish. EunJin: Need help? Arnell: Wouldn't hurt. - They start to wash the dishes together. Arnell: Dinner was good. EunJin: Thanks. Good thing we both had the day off today. Arnell: I should learn to cook as well as you sometime. EunJin: It's okay. You massage well, I cook well, you fight better, and I look better, hehe. Arnell: Sounds fair. - The dishes are clean. They both return to the living room. The doorbell rings. EunJin goes to answer the door. EunJin: Yes? - She comes back and joins Arnell on the couch. She hands him an envelope. He takes it out and reads on. Arnell: Vic does some excellent work. EunJin: He does. What did he send this time? Arnell: Just a report on some new people being trained. He says that we should be more careful because there was another group of people that came today. He doesn't know why they're there, but he's sure that they're not fighters. They went into the meeting room. EunJin: I'm guessing they're not normal clients. Good thing you have Vic helping out. Arnell: Why else do you think I have someone on the inside? - *kiss* EunJin: I do what I can for you. You know that. It is hard though considering that Angelo knows of where and when to get us. Me being here doesn't matter to him. He knows I've had to fight the men he sends after you and had to deal with the weird events we go through. Arnell: Yeah. - He puts down the paper. - *sigh* Arnell: What's wrong? EunJin: Is there any end to this? Arnell: I wish I knew... EunJin: ... Arnell: I'm sorry, EunJin. EunJin: Why? Arnell: For getting you involved in this. EunJin: Don't say that. I told you before that I knew what I was getting into from the start. Do we really have to go through this again, Arnell? How many times have I told you that I'm here for you and will go through whatever will come our way. I've been with you ever since...well...you know... Arnell: Mm... EunJin: Yeah... Arnell: ... EunJin: I want it all to end. I want things to live a normal life where we wouldn't have to watch over our shoulders all the time. No troubles. As much as I would like this to end, I'd rather be going through it with you then to know you're going through this alone. Arnell: ...thanks for being here for me. EunJin: You... - *kiss* EunJin: Are welcome. Arnell: Well, what do you want to do now? EunJin: I don't know. I'm really tired. I don't see why you insisted on training after we've had to fend off a few guys earlier today. Arnell: Looks like we'll have to train more now that Vic has given us some more information. The other day he told me about how a new shipment of weapons is being used in training. EunJin: That's not good. I guess we're going to train with the weapons more now. Arnell: I think we have to. EunJin: Mm... - She leans against his body. EunJin: Maybe we should formulate a plan. Arnell: A plan? EunJin: To end everything. To make Angelo stop messing with our lives. Arnell: It's hard. Trust me, I've thought of ways to stop this and I've tried a few things before you got into the mix. EunJin: And? Arnell: He just has so many resources at his disposal. I mean, look at how many guys he sends out. Most of them have been different. So he just gets whoever he can to do his dirty work. EunJin: What if we try to get rid of Angelo himself then? Arnell: I would love to do that...but someone will notice something is wrong when the head of the biggest company in Rinoasai is gone. The best thing would be to just...get a point to him so that he stops. Like...maybe just hurt him bad so he'll stop. EunJin: I doubt he would. Even if he was no longer around I would have the feeling that we'd still have to deal with something...you were right. This is hard to think about. Arnell: Mm-hmm. EunJin: There's still something I don't get. - He turns his head to her. EunJin: Things between you two happened so long ago. Why is he still bothering you now? Arnell: Maybe he can't let go. EunJin: If that's the case then he is nuts. I know you've told me what happened, but if he can't let things go from long ago...that doesn't say much for him. From what I remember, what happened between you two wasn't so bad. Unless...you didn't tell me everything. Arnell: I've told you most of it. I didn't leave out anything important. EunJin: Oh. Arnell: Maybe I just don't know everything from Angelo's view. HE didn't tell me everything. I know he didn't. EunJin: Really? Arnell: He may not have said anything, but I could tell he was holding back. I just don't know what it is. -...- Angelo: ... - Angelo looks up from his bar stool as he finishes off his drink. He signs to the bartender for another one. Angelo turns around to listen to the alluring jazz music being played on stage. His drink is set behind him as the bartender walks off with the previous glass Angelo had finished. He turns around, takes his drink, takes his suit jacket off the stool next to him, and goes to get a closer seat to the stage. He stays until closing time, which was only a few minutes away. He takes his jacket and pays his tab for the night. As he exits, Angelo puts his jacket back on and walks over to the nearby parking garage to his car. Angelo (T): ...and the pain of what you did...is still there. - He drives away. -...- EunJin: I still think that after time he would've let go of it. Arnell: Well...during our last couple of interactions together when we were still on speaking terms...he really changed. He wasn't himself, not the Angelo I knew. Maybe it was a part of Angelo I never knew, but I'll never know now. EunJin: Oh. Arnell: Yeah. Work and other things were really getting to him. That might have brought on that change, that...obsessive behavior...the new Angelo. EunJin: He must've taken hold of that change then. Look where he is now. He's that success that he wanted to be that I remember hearing about. Arnell: Mm-hmm. He always strived for that, but wasn't motivated. Back then he wasn't. EunJin: Maybe you two should talk or something. Arnell: What? EunJin: I don't know. Maybe that's all you two need to do. Talk things out and settle things. Arnell: ... EunJin: And I'm sure the fights will stop...yeah. That sounded stupid. Nevermind. - Arnell takes her in his arms. Arnell: It's okay. If it were that simple I would do that. EunJin: ... Arnell: ... |

Episode IV - Intro - "I've been busying myself with my free time. I still work out like before, except I try and wait for EunJin to come home so we can work out together. But with the new free time, I have started to type out stories. It's really...interesting. Maybe I should be more descriptive than that. Plus that would help my stories. It's hard when you notice things are getting repetitive. Hmm...well, writing these stories is very relieving. It gives me a chance to escape my life. Truthfully, life has been hard and this makes me feel better. I've been writing sort of fantasy type stories. I know you've read some writings I've done before when I was younger, but never finished. Those were more sci-fi and more like something you would see in anime. The ones I've been doing lately are more realistic. I've had many different ideas, but I'm working on this one more than another. I'll probably stick with that one. I've also been doing it at work on the laptop. Oh, I got a laptop since you didn't know that. But these stories are a great escape for me. I really need to escape sometimes." Elderly Man: Excuse me. Arnell: ... Elderly Man: Hey! - Arnell looks up from his laptop. The man pats his hand on the small stack of tapes he put on the counter. Arnell: Oh! I'm so sorry, sir. I'll ring these up right away. - He does his job and starts to put the tapes in a plastic bag. Arnell: That'll be... Elderly Man: I know how much it is for three tapes. - The man lays the exact change out on the counter and takes the bag. Arnell starts to count as the man leaves. The money is placed in the cash register. The bells on the door chime as someone enters. EunJin: Closing time. Arnell: I know. I was just getting ready to close up. - EunJin goes behind the counter as Arnell goes to count the money. He goes over to unplug a few things and turn off a few switches. Meanwhile, EunJin sneaks a peek at the laptop. As Arnell comes back, he notices the machine starting to shut down. Arnell: Whoa! Wait up. I didn't save that file. EunJin: I did. Don't worry. Arnell: Oh. Thanks. - EunJin closes the laptop as it finishes shutting down. She takes it in her arms with her purse as Arnell takes his keys and wallet with him. The lights are turned off and the two exit the store. Arnell locks the door. The two start to walk off. EunJin puts the laptop in the case they have for it and hands it to Arnell. They make their way over to the subway station. While waiting for the subway to come, the two have a conversation about what happened at each other's place of work. The conversation does not last long as the subway pulls in ten minutes later. They enter along with the group that was waiting. EunJin takes the last seat next to a girl listening to her mp3 player as Arnell stands by her. The subway takes off. EunJin: You sure you don't want to sit down? Arnell: Been sitting down all day. My legs need to be stretched out. - The quiet subway ride continues on. A group of women pass their section of the subway and stand around where they can, which is close to Arnell and EunJin. She pulls Arnell close to her. EunJin (W): You want to move somewhere else? It's too crowded in this part of the subway. Arnell (W): Well, if this group moved here, there's probably little room in any other section. EunJin (W): Maybe no room for the six of them. We're just two people. Let's go to where they came from. - She stands up and takes Arnell by the hand. They make their way past the group and to a different portion of the subway. This one is overly crowded as well. So they go to the next one over, the rear cart. They enter the surprisingly empty area. EunJin: Odd. - They walk to the middle and look towards the back for anyone. They hear the door close behind them. Arnell: ...damn. - They turn around to see the group of women at the door. Woman: "Damn" is right. - One of them blocks off the door and locks it with malleable metal. The other five spread around the two. Arnell stands back-to-back with EunJin. The lead woman walks up to Arnell. She rubs his chin. Woman: I'm sure you wouldn't mind a group of lovely ladies working you over in the back cart of a subway. Must be a fantasy come true for you, handsome. Arnell: Sorry. - He removes her hand from his face. Arnell: You're not my type. Woman: Ha! - *slap* - EunJin gets in her face. EunJin: You're lucky he won't physically hit a girl. You're not so lucky with me though. - The woman removes her coat and throws it over on a seat. Woman: Ladies, keep an eye on handsome over there and make sure he doesn't try any thing. If he does, handle him as you would like to. Ladies: Yes! - The ladies move to the back of the car, while encompassing Arnell in the middle. The action between EunJin and the lead woman has already begun as EunJin swings her purse at her. The woman ducks a few swings and grabs her wrist. She takes EunJin's momentum and swings her to the seat. EunJin releases her purse and charges. She starts with a combination of kicks. The woman blocks each one, but the last one connects on her leg. EunJin follows up with a quick jabs to her stomach. The woman grabs her last punch and jumps over EunJin to start an armbar from behind. The armbar is reversed quickly. The woman breaks free, but is kicked in the back. She pushes herself slowly off the wall. Woman: Hmph! - The woman lunges forward and begins a kick and punch combo. Each one is blocked, but the power behind them pushes EunJin back towards the group of ladies. Once in range, the closest lady clubs EunJin in the neck. EunJin falls. Arnell advances, but the others line up in front of him. Lady 1: And where do you think you're going? Lady 2: Wanting some action, baby? Arnell: ... - EunJin begins to stand up. The lead lady signals to one of her group mates. She tosses a small rod over to the leader. She catches it. The device opens up to a form a steel pole. She spins it around as EunJin watches on. Woman: My skills in fist fighting aren't that great, but I'm usually stronger than most people I fight. Now you're the lucky one to face against me and my steel. - She licks the tip of the pole a few times before pointing it at the ready EunJin. EunJin: Damn... - The fight continues. EunJin does her best to avoid the multiple pole swings. Each time she tries to attack, the pole knocks her limb away. The woman does well to keep EunJin completely on the defensive. Arnell: C'mon, EunJin! Lady 2: Keep quiet, baby. Arnell: Mm... Lady 2: C'mon...hit me, baby. Please, hit me. Lady 3: Ooh, no. Hit me first. I'm craving a man's touch. - She jumps on Arnell and brings him down on the ground. Arnell quickly rolls away and gets on his feet. The lady gets up and starts to laugh. Lady 3: Ooh. Feisty. Lady 1: Looks like he's ready for some action. Lady 2: C'mon. Touch me, baby. Arnell: Don't push me. Lady 2: Push me. Pull me. Do whatever you want to me, baby. Lady 1: What are you going to do? You do look like one of those sissy boys that won't ever hit a woman. No way you can get passed us without hitting us. Arnell: You would think. - The women charge at once. Arnell blocks the oncoming hits. He slips down and under one of them and pulls her feet out from under her. She hits her head hard on the floor. One of them goes forward. Her attempted kick is grabbed. Lady 2: Mm...I like that, baby. - Arnell lifts her up and tosses her into two of the other ladies taking all three out. The final one looks to him and readies herself. She then puts her guard down and shakes her head. A subtle surrender. She starts to tend to her fallen friends. Arnell turns his to the fighting girls, but is met with the steel pole in the gut, then a shot to his back, and a final hit to his chin that knocks him to the floor. The woman jumps back and hits EunJin's legs a couple times. She jumps back over to Arnell as he starts to get up. She points the tip to his neck. Woman: I don't see why the guys sent after you have so much trouble. You were nothing. - She licks the other end of the pole with a seductive smile on her face. Woman: Leave it to a woman to do a man's job. - *SMASH* - The woman falls to the ground. Arnell looks up to EunJin who has the laptop case in hand. She breathes hard as Arnell gets up to her feet. EunJin: ...hope I didn't break it. Sorry if I did. Arnell: ... - He gives her a hug. Her weak body collapses in his arms. They get her purse and he helps EunJin walk out to another car. Both put up a nice act for the other passengers as they walk by as if nothing is wrong with them. Luckily, the noises of the subway muted any noises going on in the back section. The two walk three cars up and take a seat. The ride continues on further. Minutes later, they reach the subway stops and the two make their way out with a few others. They go up the stairs to the darkness outside. EunJin kneels down on the sidewalk. Arnell: Can you make it the rest of the way? EunJin: I don't know...I took a lot of hits from that pole. Don't know if you saw it. Arnell: I took a few myself. Those hurt. Do you want to just rest for a bit before we walk the rest of the way home? EunJin: It might not be smart to just sit out here...looking vulnerable. - She holds onto her sides. She closes her eyes and taking a deep breath. As she exhales, her eyes wander around for Arnell who is not to be found. She sees the laptop left behind and pulls it close to her along with her purse. Seconds later, she hears sounds approaching. Over in the distance, she spots Arnell coming toward her with a shopping kart. She smiles as he arrives. He helps her up and carries her into the kart. He then puts her purse and laptop in with her and proceeds to push onward. EunJin: You're always a quick thinker. Arnell: I'm just glad there actually was one of these around. The alternative would've been a piggyback ride. EunJin: I wouldn't accept that. You're hurt just like I am. - They make a turn up ahead. EunJin: You were right about needing more training against weapons. I wasn't really sure what to do against that person. Arnell: Yeah. And that was only a pole. EunJin: We better get ready for that and any other weapon we may have to encounter next time. Arnell: Mm-hmm... EunJin: ... Arnell: ... EunJin: Don't feel like talking? Arnell: Not really. I didn't like having to hurt those girls. I'm glad that last one backed down. EunJin: Oh. It's okay. You had to, but I know how you feel about it. Don't feel like talking then we don't have to. Arnell: ... - Silence continues for a bit. Arnell pushes on making sure not to run into anyone. EunJin: "No matter what you decide, I will always be there for you. This is the one time that you have to be totally selfish because this is all about you." "It's about you, too. I don't want to leave you." "I don't want you to leave either, but if things go on the way they have been, what will become of us? Will they continue to butt into our lives for the sake of money? Will it be worth all the pain you will go through...the pain I will go through...the pain that we will both go through..? I know you think that when you overcome adversity, it makes things worth more than they are. I believe that, too, but not if that adversity doesn't go away. It will just stay there making things worse and making things harder than before. Will it be worth it? Yes. Will it take its toll? Yes...on our relationship, on your health, and...*cries*..." Arnell: Huh? - He looks down to see EunJin reading on his laptop. EunJin: You write really well and you write a lot. Arnell: ... EunJin: I just pulled up a random one and started to read it out for you. I didn't like how it was all quiet. From what I read to myself, this is pretty good. Arnell: ...you don't mind about... EunJin: Of course not. She's very special to you I know that. I'm fine with it. Arnell: Okay. EunJin: It must make you feel really good to write these. I like how you two are the main characters...am I right about that? You two being the stars? Arnell: Yeah, that's right. It does feel good like you said. EunJin: Are all those files in that folder stories like this? Arnell: They're actually all just one big story. If you read it from the start, you'll see how it all goes together. EunJin: How long is the whole thing so far? Arnell: I think close to fifty. EunJin: Wow. How long were you going to make it? Arnell: I have no idea. Just until I'm done with it whenever I have nothing to write anymore. EunJin: Hmm. Do you mind if I read them or is this just for yourself? Arnell: I guess it's okay if you read them. I've had a couple of other friends read them before. Linh has and so has Anna. EunJin: All of it? Arnell: Don't think they've read all of it yet, but they've only gotten what I have recently. Since they both work and have classes, I don't think they've read that much. EunJin: Ah... - EunJin turns herself around in the kart. EunJin: So you must've been working on these for quite some time now. Arnell: A few months. EunJin: ...how come you never showed them to me before? Arnell: ...because...I wasn't sure how you'd react to it if you read it all. EunJin: Why? Arnell: There's...a lot of stuff about me and... EunJin: Oh... Arnell: We are the stars...so to speak. EunJin: I know she was a big part of your life. So I can understand your feelings about it all. I'm not going to be one of those girlfriends that don’t let their guy to hold onto old feelings. It's okay, Arnell. Arnell: ... EunJin: I'm okay with it. Really, I am. - She holds onto one of his hands. EunJin: If I weren’t, I'd be questioning our being together right now. That's not the case though so there's nothing to worry about. - She kisses his hand. She waits until he looks down at her with a smile. She smiles back and turns back around still holding onto his hand. During the rest of the ride home, EunJin uses her time to begin reading the story from the very beginning. |

Episode V - Intro - "Remember how we trained a lot? It's being put to good use. You could not imagine how much I've had to use what we've learned. I'm trying to learn the weapons better. I'm glad I learned the sword well. I can use things that are like a sword in a similar way at least since it's kind of unwelcoming to be carrying a sword around, but it's okay to have a gun...weird world. I'm trying to learn how to use other weapons, but it seems that I'm just becoming more creative with whatever is around me. A few days ago I had to defend myself with a broom. Like I said...you would not believe what I've been going through lately." Arnell (T): ...man. - He jumps over a brick thrown at him. The young man who threw the projectile runs off. Arnell (T): You caught me at the wrong time. You're going to get chased and beat down now. - He gives chase. The young man makes his way to a playground and stops in front of a slide. Arnell stops and looks around. He checks his phone for the time. Young Man: The kids are already home. School is out. C'mon. - Arnell walks right up to him. He staggers back due to Arnell's intimidating approach. Young Man: Man... - He readies himself. Young Man: ...let's go! Arnell: O...kay. - Arnell steps forward and the man steps back. Arnell looks at the man up and down. He notices his uneasy breathing pattern and his non-descript fighting stance. The man's constant eye movements show signs of uneasiness. Arnell drops his guard. Arnell: You don't want to do this? Young Man: Huh? Arnell: You don't want to do this. Young Man: Umm...not really. - He hesitantly lowers his guard. Arnell: ...you don't seem like a normal...client of his. Young Man: ... Arnell: How much is he paying you? Young Man: $100. Arnell: You know, that's not enough to cover medical bills from the butt kicking most of these people get that do this. Young Man: Really? Arnell: Have you seen the people I've had beaten up? There are some that I know needed to go to the hospital for broken bones. Young Man: Damn... Arnell: I know you have to go back to him to report of whatever he asks for. So... - He pushes the guy down into the dirt and rolls him around in it. Then he helps him up and slugs him in the arm. Young Man: Ah! Dammit! What the h*ll, man! Arnell: You need some proof of the fight. Plus this is for almost hitting me with that brick. I'm letting you off easy. I wasn't in the best mood for this to be happening either. You're lucky. Young Man: ...thanks. I guess since you're helping me out, I'll let you know of something. Arnell: Okay. Young Man: Someone else is waiting for you today. He's supposed to come soon to help me out because...well, I would've needed it. - He looks around. Young Man (W): Punch me out. Arnell: What? Young Man (W): He's close by. Knock me out so I'm out of the fight. Quick! - Arnell pulls a punch and the boy falls over. Arnell kneels over him to check on him. Arnell (W): Nice fall. Young Man (W): Nice fake punch. - He closes his eyes and lets his head fall over to the side. Just then, the man spoken of earlier appears. Arnell gets up and his met with a blunt object hitting him in the jaw. He staggers back and takes a look at his adversary. The man stands clad in black. He kneels down to check on the other guy. Young Man: ...ugh. He's strong. Be careful. - The man turns his attention to Arnell. He reaches behind him and pulls out a dagger. Arnell readies himself. The man then reaches again from a side pack. He quickly throws mini-shurikens. Arnell dodges to the side as the shurikens hit the ground, but is met by a cut to his arm. The two men turn to each other and the attacks begin. Arnell gets the upper hand first with a quick kick combination. His attacks are blocked and stopped as the man takes control of the situation with quick dagger swings. The swings are dodged. Arnell grabs his wrist to stop the flurry. The man instantly starts to kick at Arnell's legs forcing him to release his grip. Another dagger slice is received. This time it's on the abdomen. Arnell backs away. His eyes notice the shurikens nearby. The man closes in and nails Arnell with axe kick. He falls to the ground, but quickly spins to his side and clips the man's knees from the side. The man staggers away for a bit. He leaps up with his dagger pointed at Arnell's body on the ground. His attack is spotted. Arnell rolls off to the side and is just missed. The dagger sticks into the ground. As the man struggles to pull it out, Arnell continues his roll to the shurikens. He takes them and throws them one at a time. The man is hit by one in the ankle. He dodges two more, but one grazes his face and the last one sinks into his right shoulder. The man stands up as some blood trickles down. He jumps over to the young man who has started to stand up. He takes him and the two make their leave. Arnell goes over to retrieve the dagger from the ground. Arnell (T): Can't have this laying around in a playground. - He looks around and puts it in his pocket before he walking off. Arnell (T): Hmm...he actually drew blood. I guess Angelo's asking for more now. - He takes a path through some trees. Arnell (T): Don't want to get caught with this knife...or these cuts. Knowing these extra paths home is actually paying off. - Elsewhere... Young Man: Sorry. I couldn't do more. He took me out really quick. Even if I had a chance to fight back, he would've taken me out eventually. Angelo: ... Young Man: At least you sent him along. - He points behind him. Young Man: He inflicted some damage at least. He got a few good cuts on that guy's body. Angelo: Yeah...he is a tough one to handle. Although from your "credentials," I would've thought that you could've put up more of a fight. Young Man: Ha-ha...I might of embellished that a little. Angelo: Really? Young Man: Yeah...sorry about that. Angelo: Don't be. Young Man: UGH..! - He falls over with a small dagger sticking from his back. The other man stands behind him. Two other men carry the body out. Angelo: You go report to the training room. Your knowledge of weapons will be beneficial. I'm sure you'll love using these new toys we have. - The man leaves. Angelo checks his watch. He gets up and leaves his office. He enters an elevator outside and goes down a few floors to a business floor. Workers greet him as he passes by and checks up on peoples' progress. He finally makes his way over to a couple of guys talking and having a snack at a table in the break room. Angelo: Vic. Vic: Angelo. - He gets up out of his seat and shakes his hand. Angelo turns his attention to the other guy. Vic: This is DongWan. DongWan: Hello. Vic: He was just brought into our offices today. Angelo: The one we had transferred here from out of state? Vic: No, you're thinking of Danny. He won't arrive until next month since he's still involved in a project over there. DongWan is the prodigy out of college. - Angelo shakes his hand. Angelo: What department? DongWan: For now, regional stats manager. Angelo: Already a manager title given to you? Impressed. DongWan: Actually, it's more like regional stats manager in training. I don't think I would be able to get things off straight off the bat without actually dealing real deals. I'm still fresh out of college. Angelo: I'm sure you'll catch on quickly. DongWan: I hope so. I originally wanted to come on in the international department, but you guys advised I start in the regional spot first. Angelo: Well, show us what you can do and I'm sure you'll get what you wanted. Push for it like I did. I used to just work here in human resources. Now look at me. I am head of this department and many others. DongWan: I've heard the story. It's really impressive. Vic: Yeah. I would've told him that, but he already knew. Angelo: Haha. Vic: I was helping him fit in and relax around here. We were just talking about the technology department here and their latest project. DongWan: I'm not technology savvy. So when I hear what's being done, I get blown away. Even the simple and silly things that are useful to people fascinate me. I don’t see how you guys can come up with this stuff. Angelo: Then I guess you like the idea of the self-cleaning dish. DongWan: Haha. I do. I would like to see how that actually works. Angelo: Maybe you'll get to see sometime if you're lucky. Vic: Not everyone is allowed to the tech wing of our building or any other building this guy is head of. But you've seen some of the stuff out there. DongWan: Oh yeah. Angelo: Glad to have someone like you as a part of our team. DongWan: Thanks for having me. Angelo: If you don't mind, I need to borrow Vic for a while. DongWan: Oh. No problem. I was just hanging around before I headed back home. I guess I will just see you guys tomorrow. Vic: See you then, DongWan. Angelo: Have a nice day. DongWan: Bye. - DongWan leaves. The other two take a walk to a small conference room. Vic: What's up? Angelo: Got rid of another one. Vic: Already? Geez... Angelo: I hate this! Why can't Arnell just...MAN! Vic: ...I know that I work for you and all and that you trust me the most out of all of the workers, but...don't you think it's been enough? Don't you think it's time to let go? Angelo: ... - Angelo gives an intense glare toward Vic. Angelo: Not until he has suffered as much as I have. Vic: ... Angelo: You'll never understand. No one will. Vic: I never pried into what this all about, but it does bother me that this is part of what I have to do to earn a pay check. Angelo: Don't pry. The fewer people that know, the better. Vic: ...so should I get started on finding a couple of new guys? Angelo: No, not this time. I have a new plan. Vic: Oh? Angelo: You know of the new people that came in a few days ago, right? Did you know who they were? Vic: I just thought they were new guys you hired to help with your..."personal business." Angelo: That's true, but they're not just any guys I just hired. These are well-trained experts in many fields of combat... Vic: Oh. Angelo: ...and business. Vic: Business? Does this mean that we're about to..? Angelo: Move on to more global ventures for our ever-growing business. We have a few international markets so far, but it's time to increase those current businesses and start new ones. It's time to move forward. Vic: Taking over? Angelo: That's not the official thing to call it when dealing in public relations. Vic: Wow...never thought I'd see this happen. Angelo: Yeah. Vic: So...how does effect your "personal business?" Angelo: We're stepping things up a bit. Those experts along with the new weapons we're having developed will do two things. It's going to add to his torture that I wish he endure and it may end things quicker. Either way, it's worse for him and better for me. Vic: Are we going to start either of these advancements anytime soon? Angelo: Of course. My first step was telling you. I'm going to tell others that are involved with these projects about what's going to happen the day after tomorrow. Vic: That's pretty soon. Angelo: It's been in the works for a few days, but now we're ready to progress farther. I am also having you and the others I tell spread the word to the others I don't reach to save time. There is going to be a meeting that evening for all of us at 6. We're going to talk business and give a few demonstrations. Vic: I will be there. Angelo: And like always, be careful about getting the word out. Keep it on the down low. Vic: Absolutely. - Angelo opens the door for Vic. They both leave and go their separate ways. Angelo goes up a couple of floors in another part of the building to the technology area. He swipes a key card at the main entrance and then again at the door in the back. His walk takes him past many different types of workers who are busy developing a few technology based weapons. He ends up at a table where a couple of lab technicians are looking over a blue print. He signals for all of them to leave except for one. Angelo: How are things progressing? Female Technician: Very well. Each individual project you see around you will finish at different times within the coming week. Angelo: What about for the meeting? Female Technician: We have a few done if you would like to see a demonstration right now. Angelo: Save it for the meeting. I'd rather you save time explaining it to me individually. Are you the one to give the speech for the tech area? Female Technician: That would be me. Angelo: Great. I wasn't sure if the lead technician would be doing that or not. Do you know if he's here or where I could locate him? Female Technician: I am the lead technician. Angelo: Oh... - She looks down at the blue print. Angelo: Is that..? Female Technician: Yes. We're still in the process of getting the materials needed for it. We've never put together something like this before. The same goes for some of the latest projects we've had to work on. Angelo: Well, I'm sure that... - She rolls up the plan. Female Technician: Could you tell me why we've been developing more weapons lately? Angelo: Am I detecting a bit of an attitude? Female Technician: Yeah, you are. Angelo: And you expect me to answer your question now? Ha. See you at the meeting. You'll get your answer there more than likely. - Angelo leaves. The technician goes and kicks her foot out in his direction. Female Technician: Jerk. - She lays the plans out again and shakes her head. -...- - Angelo returns to his office. He takes a seat as the phone rings. Angelo: Yes? (???): Hey there. Angelo: Hey to you, too. (???): You coming home soon? I'm missing you here, Angel Baby. Angelo: Let's see... - He looks at a clock on his desk. 8:37PM. Angelo: I'll leave at 9:30. (???): Can you make it 9? Angelo: Why? (???): No reason. Just want my Angel Baby with me. Angelo: Ha. I'll be there eventually, babe. Just wait up for me. In the meantime, maybe you could take a relaxing bath. (???): Sounds good. I am dirty from being out today. Angelo: You're always dirty. (???): Just how you like me. Haven't heard you complain. Angelo: Haha. I'm sure that dirty girl will be there when I get back. (???): If not, just come and check the bath. I'm sure you'll need one, too. Angelo: You know it. (???): I'll let you go...for now. See you soon, baby. Angelo: Later, babe. - He hangs up the phone. |

Episode VI - Intro - "I bought that new bed. The one that is supposed to help make your sleep more comfortable. It's bigger than the previous bed and it does work. It does make things more comfortable. I wake up less at night for no random reason. Now it's the phone or a nature call that gets me out of bed. It was hard to get it through the house. We had to move things around so we wouldn't knock them down or break them. It took a while, but we managed to get the bed upstairs. Had some help from EunJin, Anna, HeeJun, and Fany. It was actually a fun time doing this. We said and did so many stupid things trying to get the bed to where it needed to be. One of those "you had to be there" things. But the new bed is working out great." - EunJin enters a building. She goes through the sea of people to her cubicle. She places her suitcase down against one of her walls and takes off her jacket. She lays the jacket on her chair and takes a seat. - *sigh* - She begins to click away at the computer that sits in front of her. A male co-worker comes by and drops off a folder. EunJin: When does it need to be done by? Worker: Whenever. It's only one page and it's something sent in early. Just if you can get it done and out of the way sooner, then we won't have to worry about it. Just do it by the end of the week if you have other things. - She takes out the paper inside and reads over it. EunJin: I'll just do it now. It's not that long. Worker: Okay. Thank you. - He leaves. EunJin gets to work on typing up the paper. She quickly finishes it within a few minutes. The paper is placed in an out-box. Another worker comes by. Coworker: Hey, got some time to spare? EunJin: Umm...my lunch break. That's all. Coworker: Time to have lunch early. Let's go. EunJin: No, I can't. I really should be filing more of these papers. Coworker: It'll still be here when you come back. C'mon. I don't want to eat alone. EunJin: ...okay. Fine, MiYoun. I'll go. MiYoun: Great. - EunJin takes her jacket and goes off with MiYoun who is dressed in a similar businesswoman's attire. They head off to the lunchroom. They get a few things and sit down at a small table together. Both start to eat on their food. MiYoun: So, what's up? EunJin: Mm...not much. Work...little play. MiYoun: Haha. Really? EunJin: Yeah. Go to work, come home, and repeat. MiYoun: You don't go out or anything? EunJin: Rarely. MiYoun: Maybe we should go out sometime then. That is if you have the time. EunJin: That would be nice. I guess we could do that if I have time. MiYoun: Cool. You can invite that cute boyfriend of yours if you want. EunJin: Mm? MiYoun: That picture at your desk. Isn't that of you and your boyfriend? EunJin: Umm...yeah. He is. MiYoun: He's cute. EunJin: Thanks. MiYoun: What's his name? EunJin: Arnell. MiYoun: Interesting name. Don't know anyone with that name. - She goes over to get a drink. EunJin (T): I know what you're going to ask next... MiYoun: So... - She sits back down. She takes a sip from her drink. MiYoun: How did you two meet? EunJin: ... - EunJin quickly finishes up the rest of her food. She takes her drink and stands up. MiYoun: Something I said? EunJin: ...sort of...I'll let you know some other time. Coincidentally, I just remembered a few files I need to get finished and sent out before 2. I better get back to those. MiYoun: I guess I should get back to work myself then. Thanks for spending time with me. I just hate not knowing that many people here. EunJin: Same here. Been working here for almost a year and I barely know anyone still. MiYoun: Glad we were able to click easily last month. EunJin: Yeah. Doesn't hurt to have more friends. Well, back to work I go. Talk to you later. MiYoun: Later. - Both ladies part. EunJin sits back down in her cubicle. She pulls out a folder full of papers and begins to type. -...- Arnell: Shouldn't you be at work right now though? Vic: Family emergency. Arnell: Good excuse. Vic: Anyways, that's the big thing going now. I'll let you know how the meeting is when I can. Arnell: Do you know about the specifics concerning me? Vic: Just that it's being stepped up. So I guess anything you've had to deal with so far is nothing compared to what's coming soon. Arnell: Damn. Vic: ... Arnell: Have I mentioned how I like how you bring the greatest news to me all the time? Vic: Hey, what do you expect from a personal vendetta? I could always just give you no news at all. You wouldn't be getting any bad news that way. Arnell: Ha. Nah. Anything is better than nothing. Thanks, Vic. - Vic stands up from his seat. Vic: You were right about me getting back to work though. I didn't come up with the best excuse to leave. I was going to head back as if things were handled well enough for me to not have to be there. Arnell: You could just lie and said it got worse. Vic: It's okay. Need the hours and I need the money. Arnell: Okay. - The two shake hands. Vic: I've got a long way to go. Next time I will pick where we meet. Arnell: Sure. Thanks for the information, Vic. Have a nice day at work. - Vic runs off to his car and drives away. Arnell: ...guess I'll go home now. - He slowly starts to walk off. From a tree falls a man. The man meets a flying uppercut from Arnell. The man falls hard to the ground. Arnell continues to walk off. -...- EunJin: Hmm... - She reads over one of the papers. EunJin (T): That seems wrong. How did the costs of production increase so much in the last few days..? - She sifts through the folder to check on the other papers. She reads through the numbers and makes a few calculations. EunJin (T): Weird. - She leans over her cubicle wall to a coworker. EunJin: Hey, did you happen to get the production report? Coworker: Not me. I think Fany did. EunJin: Okay. Thanks. - She leaves her area and walks to another room full of cubicles. She makes it to a corner where she finds Fany with a frustrated look on his face as he goes through papers. EunJin: Fany? Fany: ...not now. - EunJin peeks over at his computer screen. EunJin: Ah. You are confused about the production numbers also. Fany: Yeah. There are no specifics for it. I'm checking old documents just in case something was said in them about it. EunJin: Find anything yet? Fany: No. These numbers are just from the past week and I've already checked reports from the past month. EunJin: These have to be filed before the day is over. If we find nothing on the increase, should we just send them out anyways? Fany: Not if this is a mistake, which it very much may be. Can't send in a mistake that costs this much. - Fany pushes himself away from the computer. Fany: Man...nothing. This isn't good. EunJin: Maybe there's someone else we can ask about this. Fany: I'm sure anyone else dealing with this report is having similar problems. EunJin: Well, then maybe someone higher up will know something. Fany: Good luck talking to them about it. You know there's that unwritten rule about how some people upstairs think they're too good to talk to us grunts. EunJin: So what? I'm not about to lose my job if this some big mistake that one of them made. Fany: What are you going to do then? EunJin: Don't know. Hopefully find someone and see if they could maybe find some information. - EunJin leaves and returns to her cubicle. She sits down and thinks things over. EunJin (T): ...don't want to do this right now... - Someone comes by and hands her another folder of papers. She goes through it quickly in hopes that the information she needs is there. EunJin: Nothing. ???: Something wrong? - She looks up at the man standing in front of her. She notices his ID tag. EunJin: You're from upstairs. ???: Yeah. That's where I was heading. EunJin: What are you doing here then? ???: Have to pass through the lower floors to go up. Plus, I was meeting someone here. EunJin: Hey, can you help me out here. I hope you can help me out at least. ???: What's up? EunJin: Well, I recently got this financial report for the end of this month. It's higher than usual and there are no records as to why. The numbers given to us add up with close to a ten thousand dollar increase, but there is nothing saying where that increase came from. ???: Mm-hmm. EunJin: Talked to another colleague who is working on a similar report and he's having the same problem. I'm thinking this just a mistake, but with such a big number difference I'm thinking that it might not be and I don't want to be responsible for screwing it up either way and possibly losing my job over this. ???: Okay. I see. - He takes a look at her computer and then the papers scattered upon her desk. ???: Ah, okay. I know where this is coming from. EunJin: Oh? ???: The numbers are correct. I think the people in the technology lab forgot to file their sector along with their numbers. Whoever works on putting out the numbers must've known about the numbers, but just forgot to add where it came from. That's a bit sloppy. I guess I need to talk to someone in that department. EunJin: You sure it's from the technology department? ???: Positive. Just let the other guy working on this know what’s up, finish typing it up, add the lab name to the file, and get it sent out. It needs to be sent out today. EunJin: Okay. Thanks. You saved me from so much trouble. Thank you, Vic. Vic: No problem. Now I'm off to go meet someone and head on up to all the other upstairs people. Catch you later. EunJin: Hey. Vic: Yeah? EunJin (W): Thanks for all the... - He holds up his finger. Vic: No problem. - He leaves. EunJin resumes her typing. After a few keystrokes, she stops. EunJin (T): Ten thousand plus dollars from the tech labs... (Arnell): Looks like we'll have to train more now that Vic has given us some more information. The other day he told me about how a new shipment of weapons is being used in training. EunJin: ...I hope that correlation is wrong...somehow I doubt it. |

Episode VII - Intro - "It's raining really hard. We had to run out and put some protective support around the plants outside. Man...I can't remember the last time it was this bad. Had to close up the store early. EunJin came home early even though she had some work to do. The storm had actually passed her work area, but it's hitting our area pretty hard. It's actually a tornado warning. Mm...I really don't know what to say now. I'm sorry. I'm just more concerned about the current weather condition right now, but I won't let that get in the way of me talking to you like I do everyday." Angelo: I would like to thank all of you for coming out today and for braving through this horrid weather. - He stands before a small auditorium at a podium. The other people in attendance settle in. Angelo: I'm glad to see this great turnout considering that this was a meeting not to be missed by any of you. From the sign-in sheet, it appears that everyone is here and once again, I thank you for being here. Now that everyone is settled, I would like to begin the meeting. - He turns on a screen on the podium to show the desktop. The desktop is shown on a projector for all prospectors to watch. Angelo clicks on as he begins the power point presentation. He reads on. Angelo: Ever since I received ownership of this company some time ago, we have always been about progress. Now, I know at first my ideas seemed a bit out there and asked a whole lot more from almost every worker in the company, but look where it has gotten us now. We started from a small third party developer in the technology game. Since then, we've bloomed into this country's leading developer in a number of categorical areas. That wasn't enough for us though. We had the ability to move even farther. We soon had third party developers work for us and have opened a successful string of corporations here. Not too long ago we started to branch out internationally. We have five main buildings in different continents scattered about and each has bloomed with their own small factories. This is where we stand today. We started small and now we produce the small companies we once were. - *applause* Angelo: Now...some of you may be asking yourselves about the future of our leading industry. Well, I can say this. We haven't reached the top yet. So there's no roof over our heads stopping us from climbing even higher than before. - *applause* Angelo: What can possibly be the next step? Going international established the foot holds we needed to go farther. What could possibly be more for us to do? The answer is simple; further expansion. With as big as we are already, we can always become bigger. Some of you may be thinking that we may be turning our company into a bit of a monopoly with a continuing plan to expand. I wouldn't worry over that. As long as we're in business there will always be competition against us. If we happen to always be better than them, we have nothing to complain about then. We'll just keep doing what we do best and that is moving forward in the technology and business game. - *applause* Angelo: Now...there is another big advancement for our company as well. This has been under wraps for quite a while now, but details were being worked on and we wanted things finalized before making any announcement. Some of you may have noticed a number of different groups coming in and out lately. Well, one of those groups happens to be government officials. Why would government officials visit our offices? Put things together and hopefully you come to the conclusion of our new involvement in government activities. Specifically, the government is very interested in our technological advancements as of late. They have given us quite a grant to develop technology and weapons for the army, navy, and other similar groups. In doing so, we have also been offered seats in government jobs for those qualified for them. So not only are we international, we now have our hands in the game of politics. - *applause* Angelo: We will have another meeting about our involvement in that during another time. - He looks over to a nearby wall clock. Angelo: This ends this part of the meeting. We will have a brief intermission as we begin to set up the next part of the meeting. Those that do not have to be here anymore may leave during this time. Those that need to stay; we will be announcing a five-minute warning when we will begin again. - Angelo takes his things and steps off the stage. Everyone else begins to move about. People begin to bring things onto the stage. In the back... Woman: Hey, sir. Angelo: How did things come off? Woman: Really well. You had the crowd in your hands. Angelo: Thank you, JungHyun. JungHyun: We have the technicians setting up. It should take about 10 minutes at the most. Angelo: That's fine. Do you know where the lead technician is? JungHyun: She's supervising the people onstage. Do you need to speak with her? I can bring her back here. Angelo: That's okay. Not necessary. Vic: Hey. - Vic joins. JungHyun: Hello, Vic. Vic: Yo. Angelo, nice speech. Angelo: Thanks. Vic: I suppose we're getting into "other" business next. Angelo: Smart man. JungHyun: This one should be interesting. Live demonstrations are always exciting to watch. Angelo: Yes. You and I have front row seats. Sorry, we couldn't reserve one for you, Vic. Vic: It's okay. No problem. JungHyun: Hopefully nothing goes wrong. Angelo: It better not. Those technicians are getting a lot from us lately. It better not have been going to waste. Vic: Well, from what they're bringing out onstage, they used as much of the money as they could. Some of those things are big. JungHyun: Oh. I'm going to go look...unless you need me to do something for you, sir. Angelo: I'm fine. Go on. JungHyun: Thanks. See you out there. - She leaves. Vic: Kind of curious myself as to what's going to be shown. Angelo: Don't hype it up in your head so much. They're just weapons. Vic: ... Angelo: Problem? Vic: No...just that it's weird that all this is happening because of one guy. Angelo: So...you have a problem with this? Vic: Not if it gets me fired. Angelo: Again, smart man. I think I'll go take my seat. Standing up there that whole time...need to relax a bit. - He walks by Vic and stops. Angelo: If you're getting uncomfortable with things here...there's always way to get rid of your worries. Vic: ... Angelo: Let's hope, for your sake, that you become more comfortable with things like when you first started in the position I hired you to. Vic: ...sounds good. - Angelo leaves. Vic shakes his head. He then walks out to the auditorium and takes a seat a few rows behind JungHyun. He takes out his laptop and powers it on. Right behind the curtain... Lead Technician: Excuse me. Angelo: Yes? Lead Technician: We're making weapons for the military? Angelo: That's...right. Lead Technician: Some of that doesn't really equate. I don't see the point of the smaller weapons for military use. Angelo: I know that you're a smart woman. You should know that they could be used for hand-to-hand combat. Lead Technician: But those aren't what they normally... Angelo: If you have complaints about this, talk to your government official about it. And if you really do have more complaints, you won't have to worry about anything after cleaning out your desk once the meeting is over. Lead Technician: ... - She huffs and leaves. -...- - People have returned and have sat down as the technicians make a few final checks. A few remain on the stage as others take their seats. The lead technician clips on her microphone as she stands by the podium. The crowd quiets down as Angelo walks back up. Angelo: Ladies and gentlemen, thank you for returning. We will now move to the next phase of the meeting in which we have our tech labs tell you of their latest projects that we have had them work on. Let's have a big round of applause for the tech lab's lead technician. - People applaud as the woman steps forward. Angelo returns to his seat. Lead Technician: Welcome back, everyone. Access to the tech area is very limited, so I doubt many of you know me. I am head of the technology department, Morgan Webb. - *applause* Morgan: Thank you very much. Now to start off I would like to say that given the direction that this company is taking, this presentation of our latest products will not be of the norm. Usually we highlight our newest inventions dealing helpful products for the home and or business such as the computerized sewing machine. Over the past few weeks we have been given the new line of requests that should obviously be of use to our new military connections. We have for you a three-part demonstration today. - A group of people files on stage. Each has a weapon in hand. Morgan: First off is the latest in close quarter combat with our latest line of hand-to-hand weaponry. - As she explains each weapon, a small demonstration of how it is used is given. Morgan: First is a standard metal Bo. Almost any long and thin object similar to a Bo can be used the same way. This one obviously functions like any normal Bo. Other than it being made out of metal, this one has a button on it. The button does two things. It allows the Bo to extend and collapse back to its normal size. A simple add-on to a classic weapon. - The crowd reacts. Morgan: Next we have a simple bola gun. It is similar to launchers that shoot nets with the benefits of a lighter weapon. Each one can hold up to six bolas for we still have troubles making it so we can have more or smaller bullet rounds. The guns are also capable of firing standard bullets in the case of running out of bolas. Another new addition to the firearm collection is our creation of the flat bullet. Simply put, these bullets are paper-thin. The flat bullets are made with an extremely strong material and still have the same effect of normal bullets. They can pierce through skin easily and can go through most other materials. On a standard handgun, one clip can hold up to one hundred and fifty flat bullets. We also have a machine gun version that can handle these bullets. We have other projects in the firearms department that we are still working on such as added effect bullets. An example of that would be bullets that can release a toxin or poison once entering a person's body. - She takes a look back to see what product is next. Morgan: Our next product is a new intensified laser. The base of it is much like a hilt. The hilt has a small keypad in which you input codes to change the type of weapon it turns into. For example, when you push zero and one, it changes to a type of small laser gun. By pushing another button, you fire off the laser. You can push numbers on the keypad to change the strength of the laser for it to be able to just shoot through a piece of wood... - The demonstrator fires through a wooden board on the stage. Morgan: Or he can make the laser stronger and shoot through various types of metals and alloys. - The man pushes a key and then fires again. The laser penetrates through 5 thick pieces of metal onstage. Morgan: Another function of this weapon is the ability to change the laser into a concentrated beam to use. The user is able to change the strength and length of the beam allowing it to be used as a small dagger or even a sword. A second laser can protrude from the other end making it like a staff weapon...so it can be used as either a long range weapon or, if need be, a short range weapon. - She pauses for a moment and continues on. Morgan: Finally, we have a preview of one of our bigger projects. This weapon. I assume, will strictly be used by the military. - Technicians wheel out the prototype. Morgan: Simply put, this is a heavily concentrated fire-spraying device. Much like the laser weapon we just showed you, the levels of strength and intensity can be fluctuated on this with simple control options. - She pulls out a control from her lab coat. Morgan: For now, we have subjected the device to a remote control for usage. This device can fire out a strong streamline of fire. - Flames shoot in two parallel lines over the heads of the crowd. Morgan: The streams can be fired individually and can be maintained for as long as a one-minute blast. It can shoot singularly or dually in any function. It can shoot short or far. Another way to use it is with typical bursts of flame or even as fireballs. - She stops each fireball by catching each with a burst, causing each fireball to expand and be engulfed with each blast. Morgan: There is even a function in which you can shoot out strong gusts of wind by simply canceling the flow of fuel into the tubes where the flames shoot out of. - She fires the wind gusts high above the crowd. The winds move tables and things around the far back area of the auditorium. Morgan: There are more functions still being worked on as well as other precautions. As of now, the material we are using is not strong enough to withstand the extreme heat levels of this apparatus. You can clearly see how the casing is heated so much that steam is coming out and that it's starting to melt through the stand we have it on. The current plan is to have these mounted on tanks or other mobile devices for times of war if we are driven to take that path of action. So we're getting to work on that... - She looks down in Angelo's direction. He sits there taking notes. Morgan: Provided that our sources aren't tapped out by now. Quite a bit of money has been poured into these current projects. - She puts the remote back in her coat as she sets her focus back onto the crowd. Morgan: We hope that our continuation of these projects doesn't impede on any other projects that we normally create for our usually focused on demographic. - *clears throat* Morgan: We are also in the works of mobile devices and many other forms of weaponry. That concludes the tech labs demonstration portion of this meeting. If there are any questions, members of the tech crew will be around to answer as best as they can. Once again, I am Morgan Webb. Thank you very much. - Applause rings as Morgan removes her microphone and steps backstage. She leans up against the wall and takes a deep breath. She listens on from backstage as Angelo has taken the stage. Angelo: And that concludes today's meeting. I want to thank all of you for coming. Return to your homes as safely as possible. Morgan (T): ...I can't believe that this is what I'm doing now... - She starts to walk off. Angelo: Have a good night, everyone. Morgan (T): ...the change in production was so drastic. It's obvious that there's more to this than what we’re allowed to know. Why else would our tech teams be split to make what we normally do and...to make these weapons... - She exits to the parking garage. Morgan (T): This is a bunch of crap. - She opens her car door as her cell phone rings. Morgan: Hello? (Angelo): Please come in early tomorrow. Thank you. - He hangs up. Morgan: ... |

Episode VIII - Intro - "Remember when we went to that musical? I saw a version of it on TV not too long ago. It wasn't that great. Only good part about it was that I could get up during commercials. I watched it with EunJin, but she wasn't into it that much. She liked the dancing and singing, but she thought the story wasn't good. They did change a few of the dances and they added an extra scene for some reason. It was fun seeing the dances. I still remember some of the steps. You remember how we tried learning those dances together? Haha, that was fun. I tried to get EunJin to do it, but it was late and she was really tired. Oh well...hey, I forgot to tell you that we got a kitty. It's a boy so EunJin named him VSA, Very Sexy Arnell...yeah. Well, she really wanted to name it and I'm not good with guy names." Arnell: Dammit... - He hobbles onto the perch in the backyard. He rubs and covers his knee. EunJin: I want to say that I am sorry, but...like you said, we need more training. - She holds her shinnai up against her shoulder. Arnell lifts his hands off his knee to see that blood is seeping out. EunJin: Oh! Guess I hit you harder than I thought. Arnell: Yeah... EunJin: I'll get a washcloth and some wrapping bandages. - She goes into the house. Arnell takes a couple of deep breaths to recover from the pain. He then starts to push around the cut to force the blood out. He wipes some off with a finger and then licks it. (???): Don't do that. Arnell: Huh? (???): Don't do that. - A hand takes his hand away from the cut. Then the cut starts to be cleaned off. Arnell: ... (???): Does it hurt? Arnell: Umm... (???): Well? - He looks up to see a blurred face. (???): DoEs It HuRt? Arnell: ... (???): aRnElL? - He blinks his eyes. EunJin: Arnell? Arnell: ...oh! No...the pain is going away. - She washes it off a little more. Arnell continually looks towards her face. EunJin: I'm going to spray some antiseptic now. Arnell: Mm... - *spray* - Arnell holds in a small grunt. EunJin looks up to him. EunJin: Can you get up? We should get you inside. - He starts to stand. EunJin stands and helps him up. They walk in and reach the couch in the living room. Before he sits down, EunJin lays a towel down for him to rest his knee on. He lies down. EunJin leaves for a bit and returns shortly with the bandages. She begins to wrap his knee up. Arnell closes his eyes and leans back. He picks his head up. Arnell: Hey...do you... (???): Yes? Arnell: ... (???): WhAt Is It? Is SoMeThInG wRoNg? Arnell: Umm... EunJin: Does it hurt still? Arnell: ...a little... EunJin: I'll try to be gentler. - She gives him a kiss on the leg. Arnell looks at EunJin's face again. His breathing stutters a little. EunJin: I'm sorry. I'm doing it as gently as I can. Arnell: Okay... - He closes his eyes. Arnell (T): What is going on with me..? - EunJin fastens the bandage down. EunJin: Feeling better? Arnell: Yeah. Thank you. - EunJin gets up and starts to walk off. EunJin: I'll get you a drink. Be right back. - Once she is out of view, Arnell sits up. He pulls his leg down to the ground and attempts to stand up. A minute full of grunts and tries later, he stands. A glass of water is held in front of him. EunJin: Where are you going? Arnell: Nowhere. - He sits back down with his water. EunJin walks off. Arnell: Where are you going? EunJin: Getting the mail. I'll take a nice stroll for a few minutes getting it. Arnell: Take your time. EunJin: You stay put. - EunJin closes the door and heads out. Inside the house, Arnell sighs. - *meow* - He looks down to see VSA rubbing against his leg. He picks him up and lies back on the couch. VSA then crawls around on top of his stomach. He makes a few circles and then rests on him - *meow* EunJin: Nice day outside. - EunJin turns the corner not too far away from their home. She looks up at the sun and then back in her walking direction. She reaches the group of neighborhood mailboxes. She takes her keys and opens it up. Immediately, the mail door is shut. A black glove is in her view. She turns to see a man and woman dressed in similar outfits standing before her. EunJin: ...you got to catch me first. - EunJin runs off. The couple chases after her. EunJin leads them to a home that is still in construction. She looks around at her surroundings as she waits for her pursuers. The man enters first followed by the woman. EunJin: How are we going to do this? - The woman steps forward. She snaps her fingers. The man throws her a small pole. She catches it and swings it around a few times. EunJin: Great...another pole woman. Woman: Only difference...I'm better than her. - EunJin readies herself. - *beep* EunJin (T): What was that? - The pole extends out and slams her into a weak wall. The pole shrinks back to its normal size. The attackers wait for EunJin to get up. Seconds later, EunJin staggers onto her feet. EunJin: What in the world..? Woman: C'mon. Round two starts now. - She advances. EunJin jumps away from the pole. She ducks one swing and gets hit in the side. She rolls from the hit and remains on the floor. The woman attacks with an overhead hit with the pole. EunJin gets her feet up to block the hit. A struggle goes back and forth ending with EunJin pushing her back. She pops up and immediately grabs the pole close to the woman's hands. As they struggle over possession, EunJin lets looses a flurry of kicks to the mid and lower section of her opponent. Their hands continue to run back and forth on the pole. - *beep* EunJin (T): Huh? - The pole shrinks, falling out of the hands of the owner. The two stumble back. EunJin realizes she has the small item in her hands now. Before she is able to think of what to do, the woman kicks the item from her hands and into the air. She jumps up and catches it. While in mid air... - *beep, beep* - The pole grows twice, striking EunJin in the stomach on the second enlargement. EunJin braces the impact and holds onto the end of the pole. She looks up as the woman slides down the pole and kicks her in the face. She stands above her fallen opponent. Woman: Told you I was better. EunJin: ... Woman: You were able to block the pole from piercing through your stomach, but that won't happen this time. - She aims for EunJin's head. - *beep* - EunJin is alert and slides between the woman's legs as the pole extends and crashes through the ground. EunJin gets up and dropkicks the woman into the wall. As she recovers, she watches as EunJin swings from the protruding pole and delivers two quick swinging kicks. Again, the woman is knocked over to the wall. EunJin holds her up and gives her five knees to the stomach. She pushes EunJin away and rolls to the side. EunJin grabs her from behind and attempts to suplex her over. They struggle until the woman reverses the hold and then lifts EunJin's legs from behind off the ground. She hops over her and tries to take the pole out. She looks up as EunJin kicks her away. She then kicks the pole. - *beep* - The pole comes out from the ground and shrinks one size as it flips in the air. EunJin kicks it again. - *beep* - The pole continues to flip as it grows. One end smacks into the face of the woman, knocking her out. On the other end, EunJin keeps her focus on the other end as it comes her way. She is able to lean way back as the pole passes over her. The pole falls to the ground and so does EunJin. The man watches over the fallen fighters. He walks over to his partner. EunJin starts to get up. She watches as the man turns off a device he held in his hand the whole time. He then goes over and picks up his partner. He looks to EunJin who is back on her feet and ready to continue fighting. He smiles and then throws down a smoke bomb. EunJin coughs and stays ready. As the smoke clears, EunJin looks around. The opponents were gone as well as the pole. She hesitantly leaves the home and looks around more. She gives a sigh of relief. She holds her stomach as she walks back home. Before she turns the corner back home, she looks back. She walks over and turns her key and takes out the mail. EunJin: Ha... - She walks back home. She takes a deep breath before walking through the door. She throws the mail on the table in front of where Arnell lies. VSA wakes up and jumps over to EunJin. She cradles him in her arms. EunJin holds a grunt in as she lifts Arnell's head up and sits down. She lays his head in her lap. EunJin: Pretty kitty. - *meow* Arnell: You sure took your time. EunJin: It...was a nice day outside. Arnell: Oh. Well, how come you have a small bruise on your stomach? EunJin: What are you talking about? Arnell: I can feel a...what smart word can I use...protrusion... EunJin: Hehe. Arnell: Yeah. A bump or something is protruding from your stomach. EunJin: Oh. - She feels her stomach. EunJin: You were very correct about us needing to learn how to defend ourselves against weapons. Arnell: Mm... EunJin: ... Arnell: Sorry you had to handle it on your own. But at least you were able to come back. I'll take it that you won. EunJin: I did. It was tough though. She was using some weird staff that grew and shrank. Hurt. Arnell: Must be that new stuff Vic had been hinting at. EunJin: Another weird thing...there was two of them, but I only fought one. The other guy just stood there, at least that's what I thought he was doing. Before leaving I noticed that he turned something off. It looked like a little video camera. Arnell: A video camera? EunJin: Definitely not a good sign. They really are stepping things up now. - *sigh* Arnell: And here we are getting more and more damaged over time. I don't know what to do now. We really need some sort of plan like you've mentioned before. EunJin: We'll come up with something. It'll be okay. Arnell: Hope so. - *meow* |

Episode IX - Intro - "Nothing like some good music. I'm trying not to buy a whole mess of new cds. I always hated buying more than one at a time. I'd neglect one over the other because I like it better. You don't get to appreciate the cd to its fullest that way. When I go to put a cd in...I usually reach for one of my older ones. With those, I can sing along or dance with the whole cd. The new ones are good, but more than likely I only like a few tracks from it. There are a few exceptions from favorite groups, but...yeah. Whatever. Was I trying to make a point? Haha, I don't know. You know how I am. Weird tangents spring from no where and then I could go right back into talking about whatever it was or just go off on something weirder. Or in some cases it just stops because I can't think of what to say...like now." Angelo: Very impressive. - He straightens the stack of papers he just finished examining. He hands them to JungHyun. JungHyun: The tech labs have been working nonstop to bring you those results. I'm glad you are favoring them well. Angelo: Nothing like progress. JungHyun: Well...there is something else. I have spoken to a few of the technicians. Lately, they have been complaining about having little off time since these latest projects have begun. Most of them already had five days a week work schedules. Some are starting to sleep here so that they don't waste time commuting back and forth. Angelo: Mm-hmm. JungHyun: And I know you want them to work as hard as they can, but they do need some time off. Some have personally asked if I could suggest to you that they all at least receive an extra day off sometime soon. Angelo: Hmm... JungHyun: I mean, who wants a low energy and cranky staff? They might not even be working at full capacity. You wouldn't want them to be producing shoddy products. Angelo: Good point. I knew it wasn't a mistake in hiring you to your current position. JungHyun: Thank you, sir. - Angelo pushes a button on his intercom. Angelo: Tech labs, this is your boss speaking. I would just like to inform everyone that due to outstanding process in the past few days that you have all earned an extra day off. Tomorrow, none of you show up for work. That is mandatory. Thank you very much. - He lifts his finger off the intercom, but immediately pushes it again. Angelo: Actually, whenever you finish up with whatever you're doing now you may leave. Have a nice day, everyone. JungHyun: Nice touch, sir. I'm sure they all appreciate what you're doing for them. Angelo: Mm, yeah. Who doesn't like to take a break? Actually, I think I'm going to leave early tonight also. What time is it right now? JungHyun: 8:36pm. Angelo: I'll leave at 9. JungHyun: I'm sure your wife will love that. Angelo: Ha, she sure will. You can leave now if you want to, JungHyun. JungHyun: Ooh. Thank you very much, sir. I just have something to do first and then I'll go. - In the tech area... Morgan: It's cool. Go ahead. I'll clean up here and you guys can leave. Tech Guy: You sure? Tech Girl: We don't need to leave right away. Morgan: Don't worry about it. There's not much. I'll be out of here in no more than ten minutes. Go. Get out of here before I make you stay longer next time, hehe. Tech Guy: Thanks, Miss Webb. Tech Girl: Thank you very much. - They leave. A few more technicians leave shortly after. Morgan takes off her lab coat and lays it on a table next to her purse. She takes out her cell phone and checks for any missed calls. After seeing there are none, she puts her phone away and continues putting things away. Minutes pass. Before getting her things, she stops in front of a door leading to the testing area of the lab. She enters and turns on the lights. She makes her way to one of the larger inventions with a tarp on it. She pulls it up to look under. - *sigh* Morgan (T): Making weapons...still don't like it. - The tarp falls back into place as Morgan leaves. Elsewhere... Arnell (T): Mm... - He locks up the store and starts to walk away. His walk takes him from the store to the subway. His ride ends shortly as he comes up to the downtown area of Rinoasai. He walks into a bar and sits down on a couch. As the classical music fills the room, a waitress greets Arnell. Waitress: Something to...oh, it's you. The usual? Arnell: Please. - The waitress leaves. Arnell closes his eyes and lets his head fall back on the top of the couch. Arnell: ... - Minutes pass and another song starts up. He feels as someone joins him on the opposite side of the two-seater couch. Lady: Hmm... Waitress: Care for a drink? Lady: Do you have a list? Waitress: Sure. - She hands her a small menu booklet from her back. Lady: I'll just have water for now. Waitress: Okay. I'll bring you your water, ma'am, and, sir? Arnell: ...yeah? Waitress: I'll leave your drink here on the table. Arnell: Thank you. - The waitress leaves. Arnell: ... Lady: Interesting looking drink you have there. Arnell: ...how so? Lady: Its color is pure blue. Sure it's not anything bad for you? Hehe. Arnell: It's not. - He finally picks up his head and goes for his drink. He cups the glass in his hands and takes five sips. Arnell: No more blue. - He sets the drink down. Lady: It's green now. Arnell: Yeah. It's not the best tasting thing they have here though. Lady: Then why order it? Arnell: This is a stupid reason, but it makes me feel like I'm drinking something else each time I drink it. Lady: Little mind tricks. Arnell: Ha. Yeah. I'm probably the only person that orders this drink also around here. It's not that bad. Lady: Maybe you got used to it. Arnell: Maybe. It only tastes that way because of the way they made it. It leaves... Lady: A citrus-esque taste in your mouth even though it's considered a fine wine. I know. The citrus taste is because of what they used to make it change colors. Arnell: That's right. Lady: Trust me, the citrus taste was the best thing that we could make it to end up like. It used to leave a...paper like taste, believe it or not. Arnell: Interesting. Lady: We would've left it with no taste at all, but sponsors felt it should have more as if a color changing wine wasn't enough. Arnell: And how do you know this? Lady: Because I helped make this drink, Chameleon Web. Arnell: Ah... Lady: I originally wanted to call it Chameleon Tech because we started speaking of it as a technology drink. Sponsors opted for "Web" instead because the drink is supposed to "catch you" and keep you hooked. They should've come up with a different tag line in the front instead of "Chameleon" because...well, it makes little sense, but it does sound cool. - She looks over at Arnell who is just staring at her. Lady: What? Arnell: You expect me to believe you helped make this drink? You could've learned that on your own by reading something. Lady: Well, you don't have to believe what I said, but it's true. Arnell: Show me some proof and I'll buy you a drink. - She reaches into her purse and pulls out an ID tag. Arnell: "Morgan Webb...Head Tech..." - She slowly takes back her tag from his hand and puts it back in her purse. Morgan: I believe that is all the proof I need for you and a free drink. Arnell: Yeah. That sure was a nice way to shut me up, haha. - She giggles. The waitress comes back with Morgan's water. Waitress: Anything else for either of you? Arnell: A bottle of Chameleon Web and an extra glass for her. Waitress: Sure. I'll be back. - She leaves. Morgan: A whole bottle? Arnell: Might as well now that I have someone to talk to right now. Plus I never said you got to pick the drink. Morgan: Not a problem. By the way, in case you didn't get it from the nametag, my name is Morgan. - She extends her hand out and they shake. Arnell: I'm Arnell. Morgan: Nice name. Don't know anyone else with that name. Arnell: Don't know any other Morgan's myself. Morgan: Ah. Cool. Well, I'm glad you're up and talking now. When I came in, there was nowhere else to sit. I thought I would just be bored here with no one I knew or at least someone to talk to. It looked as if you were out of it. Arnell: Oh. I was a little. I didn't feel like just going home right away. Stressful days lately... Morgan: Work? Arnell: ...that's one thing. Morgan: Ah, I can relate to that. That's actually why I didn't head on home either. Arnell: Dealing with technology must take its toll. Morgan: Not really. I love technology. My earliest experience with any technology was a gaming system. I grew up playing games all my life. Years later my interests leaked out to other aspects of technology. Arnell: Cool. I'm not that much into technology. I barely know what to do with my desktop and laptop. I only use them for what I need them for like typing up stuff and talking to people online. Don't really explore anything else. I'm not tech savvy. Morgan: Hehe. I like your use of the term "tech savvy." Arnell: I would bet that I could beat you in videogames. I too grew up playing games. Morgan: Oh. Well, what are you into? - The waitress comes by and drops off the bottle and extra glass. She leaves as Arnell opens up the bottle and pours Morgan a drink. It starts off pink. Morgan: Thank you. Arnell: How about you tell me what you're into first? Then I can just agree with you or not. Morgan: Hehe. Whatever. I play real time strategy games. Arnell: Not good with those. Morgan: First person shooters online or offline. Arnell: Really suck at those. Morgan: ...then what are you into? You already brushed off two of my personal favorites. Arnell: Ha. Sorry. - Arnell takes a sip of his drink. Morgan: Ooh, red. I like how that looks. Arnell: Yeah. I could imagine people drinking this at some high-class affair and then you hear someone complain of how the color clashes with their outfit. Morgan: Hehehe. Never thought of that. Arnell: Haha. Morgan: So, c'mon. What do you play? Arnell: I have weird tastes. I have some of those weird games that no one else would ever play. Don't know how to categorize those. Morgan: Hehe. Arnell: I was good at fighting games. Barely play them hardcore anymore. Morgan: Hardcore? Arnell: Learning how to use everyone. Don't have the time for that anymore. Morgan: What else? Arnell: Music games, platformers...I don't know. Just a weird mix of games and genres. Morgan: Well, we didn't come upon one we both are into. I like some platformers, but I'd prefer any of my favorites to those. - She takes a quick gulp of her drink. It turns yellow. Morgan: Eww... - She drinks it again. This time it turns purple. Morgan: Better. Arnell: Hmm...well, what have we not mentioned? I hate when I draw a blank for something I should know. Morgan: It happens. I'm as blank as you right now. Arnell: ... Morgan: ... Both: RPGs! - They laugh together and clink their glasses. Arnell's drink turns black and Morgan's turns white. Morgan: Hehe, that was funny. One of those things that happen on television. Arnell: Should we go into why we like RPGs? Morgan: I'm pretty sure it's for the same reasons. Story. Arnell: Characters Morgan: Game play. Arnell: Being hero. Morgan: Ah...good games, good games. Arnell: Haha. Man, I could go for a good one. I haven't played any in a long time. Morgan: Me either. Too much work lately. Arnell: Yeah. I've got things keeping me busy also. Morgan: Well, you know what I do for a living. What business are you in? Arnell: Entertainment industry. Morgan: Oh. What field? Arnell: Distribution area. Morgan: Interesting. Arnell: It's not really. I own a video store. Morgan: Hehehe. I felt there was some underlying meaning behind what you said. Arnell: Yeah. I have some weird way of talking. Sarcasm leaks in and it doesn't seem like it. Morgan: Like people don't know when you're actually serious. Arnell: Yeah. Morgan: Same here. I'm the same way. It happens with me sometimes. Arnell: Sometimes. Morgan: Sometimes. Arnell: Sometimes. Morgan: Sometimes. - He finishes off the rest of his drink and pours more. It comes out clear. He offers to pour Morgan more, but she waves it away. He puts the bottle down and takes a quick sip that turns the drink orange. Arnell: ...sometimes. Morgan: Hehe. So you own a video store. What kind? Arnell: It's a little family one. I bought it from my parents so that they could retire. Morgan: What kind of stuff do you have in your store? Arnell: Mostly international stuff. Things you can't get from the normal video stores around here. Morgan: Is it just videotapes you rent or sell? I imagine that in these times it would be hard to still be on regular VHS. Arnell: It's hard sometimes. I'm glad we have a hardcore group of customers that know they can get their things from my place only. Honestly, there are very few other places that specialize in just international products. Morgan: Oh. Arnell: I am trying to move things forward. We have VCDs also and then next we'll start selling and renting DVDs. Just taking it slow because...well, I have to. Morgan: Why is that? - She drinks the rest of the drink in her glass. Arnell: Well, it's only me at the store. - She pours herself half a glass. It comes out silver. Morgan: Only you? Arnell: Sometimes I have friends come over and help out. That's about it. Morgan: No hired help? Arnell: Nah. Don't really want any. It's not too much to handle for just a couple of people. My parents did it by themselves. I helped them when they asked me to and have even done all the duties myself when they needed me to. Morgan: So I guess you do well enough to keep up with things. Arnell: Mm-hmm. - He looks over at the digital clock display on the table. Arnell: Mm...didn't realize we've been here this long. Morgan: Ooh. Midnight already? Wow. Arnell: I always liked these tables. Convenient to have a clock close by. Beats having to try to read a clock from ten feet away. Morgan: It really is. At first we thought to add clocks to chairs, but that seemed like too much. So instead of many separate clocks on chairs, why not just one on the table they encompass? - She looks up to Arnell who has his eyebrow raised at her. Morgan: Oh, I made this, too. Hehe. Arnell: Man, that's so cool. Anything else in here that you had your hands in creating? Morgan: Hmm... - She looks around. Arnell follows her head in the direction it goes. Both of them drink. Morgan: There are a few things. I see...two, three, four...at least five things around this room right now that I've helped make. - They set their empty glasses down. Morgan: Never been here before, but I bet there's more around here that I made. Arnell: Wow. Morgan: Actually, if we went around town I could point to a lot of things that our tech teams have developed. Arnell: Haha. Morgan: You want to? Arnell: Huh? Morgan: Go around town? I actually have a day off tomorrow...today, hehe. I'd like to stay out longer tonight. Care to join? Arnell: Hmm. Sure. The weather is nice out. Morgan: Yeah. I was going to just walk around, but I'm glad I came in here and meet you. Arnell: Glad you came in here, too. Morgan: Hehe. Arnell: I'll go pay our bill. You want to take the bottle? If you don't, I will. Morgan: I'll take it. Arnell: Okay. Morgan: I'll go to the bathroom first and meet you outside. Arnell: All right. - They split. Arnell goes over to the bar and pays. He then goes outside to wait for Morgan. Arnell: Hmm... - He takes out his phone and makes a call. (EunJin): Hello? Arnell: Hey. (EunJin): Hey, you. I figured you went out. Arnell: Yeah. Sorry. (EunJin): It's cool. Not like this is the first time you've done this and not like I've gone out without you before either. Arnell: I know. Anyways, I called to let you know that I'll be out late so you don't end up waiting for me all night. (EunJin): Oh. Okay. What are you going to do? Arnell: Just go around town with a friend. (EunJin): Okay. You have fun, honey, and be safe. Arnell: I will. Night, babe. (EunJin): Bye. - They hang up. Morgan joins Arnell outside. Morgan: You want to drive or should I? Arnell: Well, I didn't drive here, but it's nice out for a walk. Morgan: You're right. A walk it is. Arnell: Lead on. |

Episode X - Intro - "I need new clothes. Everyday that I go to the store, I just wear a white shirt and jeans. If it's cold I'll have a jacket, but that's it. When I go out, I still go through the same clothes. I wear whatever is comfortable. Even if there's no reason to wear fancy clothes I'll still wear them. Wore them to work the few times I knew I wanted to go out after. EunJin always dresses nice. Work requires that she be part of the suit-and-tie bunch. She looks good in her business outfits though so she doesn't mind the dress code. The few times I visited her there to do something nice for her, I dressed nice so I wouldn't stick out of the crowd. And, yes, I still have the same formal attire I had ever since you knew me. I only have a few new things. There's the leather dress jacket, the leather trench coat that is white like I always told you I wanted to have, and one extra tuxedo. Still don't have many occasions to wear the stuff, but with my weird fashion tastes, I wear it when I feel like...except the tux." EunJin: Hehe, wow. Look at the turnout. Arnell: Damn... - The two are dressed very formal. Arnell in slacks and a red dress shirt with his leather dress jacket and EunJin with a brown tube dress with a matching shall. As they enter the restaurant, they wait in line to check in. In the meantime, they look around at the large crowd of people moving about. Arnell fiddles with his tie a bit. EunJin slaps his hand away from it. They move up in the line. A caterer passes by with little foods on his plate. EunJin reaches out and grabs one and quickly eats it. Arnell smiles and shakes his head as she chews with a smile on her face. They are finally checked in and are free to roam about. First, they look for their table. They are directed by an usher to their seats. Arnell takes off his jacket and lays it on the head of the chair. EunJin kindly greets those at the table. They both take a seat and enjoy the champagne at the table while talking to those around them. Minutes pass before they get up to walk around. EunJin leads them over to a small picture display the restaurant has. They stay there for a few minutes talking about the individual pictures before moving to a small bust nearby. Arnell: Who is that supposed to be of? EunJin: Owner of the restaurant...maybe? Arnell: Don't they usually have little descriptions on these things? - He looks around for one. EunJin gets tapped on the shoulder. She turns around. EunJin: Hey, MiYoun. MiYoun: Hi, EunJin. - They hug. EunJin: Wow. How could I have not spotted you earlier? Profile that dress for me. - MiYoun smiles as she does a spin to show off her pink dress. EunJin: That is really cute. I like how it's only one shoulder strap that goes over the chest...or however you describe it, hehe. MiYoun: Hehe. Couldn't describe it myself either. It was cute, it fit, so I bought it and this was a reason to wear it. So how are you? EunJin: I'm doing well. I just arrived maybe ten to fifteen minutes ago. MiYoun: I've been here from the beginning. They were still setting up. I was kind of...nervous because I couldn't recognize anyone I saw and I didn't want to be all alone. I am so glad I found you here. EunJin: Hehe. Well, I'm glad you found me, too. But... - She looks around. EunJin: You came alone? - MiYoun smirks and nods. MiYoun: Yeah...I don't know that many people remember? EunJin: Outside work also? MiYoun: I only moved here recently for this job. So I left the few friends I had for my career. Arnell: That sounds bad. - MiYoun's eyes move to Arnell who takes his place next to EunJin. Arnell: But sometimes you have to do those types of things to get anywhere. MiYoun: Ooh. I assume you're Arnell. Arnell: You assume correctly. - He extends his hand and they shake. MiYoun: I'm MiYoun. It's nice to meet you. Arnell: Nice to meet you, too. MiYoun: Even cuter in person. Arnell: Mm? EunJin: She's seen the picture of you in my cubicle. Arnell: You have a picture of me in your cubicle? EunJin: Yeah. The one of us... Arnell: Wait a minute...you have a cubicle? - EunJin playfully hits his chest. MiYoun giggles. EunJin: Shut up, you. Arnell: Even in a fancy setting you would still hit me. MiYoun: You were teasing her so you kind of deserved it. Arnell: Great. I just meet you and you're already against me. MiYoun: Haha. No, no, no, hehe. Arnell: It's cool. She doesn't hit that hard anyways. - EunJin raises her hand. Arnell just stares at her. She puts her arms around him. EunJin: And this is what I deal with day after day. MiYoun: Hehe. Very cute. EunJin: Where are you sitting at? MiYoun: I'm close to the back. Can't see the stage that's at the head of the restaurant from there. EunJin: Maybe you can trade seats with someone or just pull up a chair and sit with us. We're pretty much in the middle. MiYoun: Okay. Let me go get my coat then and I'll join you. EunJin: I'll go with you so you won't get lost looking for us. Arnell? Arnell: Oh, I'll join you later. Need to find the bathroom. MiYoun: Bathrooms are a couple tables down that way. - She points. MiYoun: Should be the door before the kitchen area. Arnell: Thanks. - They split up. MiYoun: He's really cute. EunJin: Hehe. I know he is. MiYoun: I'm sure he keeps some cute company with him. Any of his friends single? EunJin: Hahaha. MiYoun: Or...is he single? EunJin: Hey now... MiYoun: Kidding, hehe. - In the bathroom, Arnell tucks in his shirt in front of the mirror. He then washes his hands. Another guy comes out of the stall and washes his hands also. Arnell pushes the button on the hand dryer, but it does not work. He tries the other two, but they do not work either. He then takes some paper towels to dry off. He takes one more that happens to be the last one. The other guy pushes the hand dryer button with no success like Arnell. He looks over to the empty paper towel dispenser. Arnell: Sorry...uh... - He goes into one of the stalls and comes back with an entire roll of toilet paper. He unrolls some and the other guy rips it off to dry his hands. Guy: Haha. Quick thinking. Arnell: I wouldn't think you'd want to dry your hands off on your nice suit you have on. Guy: If I did, it would've been on the ankle of my pants where no one would notice. - They continue drying off his hands. Guy: Guess I owe you one. The name's DongWan. Arnell: Arnell. I'd shake your hand, but... DongWan: Haha. It's cool. We can shake hands another time. - DongWan throws away the paper. Arnell puts the toilet paper roll on top of the empty paper towel dispenser. They leave. DongWan: So how can I pay you back? Arnell: What can you do for me? DongWan: Want to sneak into the kitchen and sample some of the entrees we'll be getting later? Arnell: You work for the company? DongWan: Yeah. I've only been here no more than a month and I'm high up in the ranks. It has its perks like kitchen access at events like this, haha. Arnell: How'd you move up so fast? DongWan: Short story, I'm really smart. Arnell: Really? DongWan: I graduated college early. Arnell: Works for me. Let's go food sampling. - They walk off. DongWan: Do I know you from somewhere? Arnell: Don't think so. Why? DongWan: Just that I've heard your name before. Arnell: Oh... - Over at the table, the two girls have continued talking. MiYoun: ...and then I ended up deciding to come here. EunJin: You should always come to these events. They don't happen that often. At the least, we have these banquets twice a year. MiYoun: Is there really any reason for them? EunJin: It's just the big guys giving back to us workers. It's always fancy and they go all out for it. Look how huge the restaurant is and it's all for us. If anything, a good enough reason to come to these functions is for the free food. The chefs are ...mm-mm, incredible. I can't wait for the food to come out. MiYoun: Me either. I'm hungry. What are we waiting for? EunJin: We haven't been addressed yet. It's lame. Either one or a few suits get on the stage and give some nice words to us and sometimes talk about how great business is. That's all. MiYoun: Anything else? EunJin: Nah. Usually the speech and the food. Then people stay around and mingle. People make their own plans. MiYoun: Oh...I see. - She looks at a flower arrangement sitting in the middle of the table. MiYoun: I love these flowers. Wish I could take these. EunJin: Well...you could. MiYoun: Seriously? EunJin: They are just decorations. I'm sure they don't care. I took this small glass they had last year where they just put some potpourri in. They had a lot of them. There are a lot of these flower things on each table. They won't care if one is missing. MiYoun: Wish my purse was bigger. EunJin: Same here. Well, when we leave, I'll ask Arnell to smuggle them in his jacket. Hey, you want to come with us after this thing is over? MiYoun: Ooh, sure. Where are you going? EunJin: Well, we usually go to this lounge and just hang out there. Some other workers go there, too. MiYoun: Which one? EunJin: It's an international music lounge. It's not well known, but it's great. You can just relax in the main room or rent one of the rooms that you can hang out in or sing karaoke in there. You can sing karaoke in the main room, but only if you're good. MiYoun: Sounds interesting. I must go and check this place out. Arnell: You talking about the lounge? - Arnell returns, but he is not alone. With him are DongWan and Fany. MiYoun: Yeah. I'm going to tag along with you and your girl. Fany: Is this another couple hang out place? EunJin: It's not. You should come with us also. I'm sure you would like it. Fany: I'll go, but probably leave early. MiYoun: Why? Fany: I'm already tired. I've been up all day and the night before. I'll go out, but I just don't want to end up falling asleep when I'm there. Arnell: Maybe you should just go home then. Fany: Nah. I've heard of this place, but never went. Might as well check it out while I have the chance. DongWan: I'll go, too. I like karaoke places. EunJin: How about we all go together then? Sound good? - All agree. Arnell: Do we all know who we are here? - *laughter* - Arnell points to each one as he says their names. They greet each other. Their voices are drowned out as the noise in the room rises. -...- - Activity carries on throughout the night. As mentioned before, the crowd is to be addressed soon as the invitees witness a small group make their way on stage. From their table, MiYoun and EunJin finish off their drinks, and Arnell continues chatting with DongWan and Fany who are at the table next to them. A minute later, a woman takes the microphone on stage as the others are seated. Woman: Hello. If I could have everyone's attention, please. - The noise gradually shrinks to silence. Woman: Thank you. I would like to thank all of you for coming tonight. My name is Lee JungHyun. - *applause* JungHyun: Thank you for that. We would like to apologize for the little delay with our speaking with you. A few technical difficulties, but not to worry. Everything is okay now. So let me step aside so we can have our featured speakers take the stage and then we can get to the free food, which is probably the reason most of you are here, hehe. - *laughter* JungHyun: First, let me introduce to you our senior representatives in our public relations division, Victor Carpenter. - The crowd applauds. The two shake hands as they pass. JungHyun takes her seat next Vic's empty chair. EunJin (W): There's our guy. Arnell (W): Yeah. Wish we were closer to get a good look at him. EunJin (W): I agree. The screens aren't helping thanks to the cameraman. Vic: Hello, fellow employees. - *clears throat* Vic: As head of public relations for our company, I have only great news to give. Seriously, we have not run into any troubles as it relates to our growing business. I would like to proudly state that at 10:20 tonight, we have gone through one entire year of nothing but increasing success. - *cheers and applause* Vic: Yes, it is quite a thing to behold. This will be a great milestone to remember in our company's history. DongWan: Wow. I never knew that. Glad I'm part of the company. Fany: Yeah. I didn't know we were actually doing that well. Vic: And now I would like to introduce someone that has assisted and will continue to bring future milestones to us, Miss Morgan Webb. - *applause* Arnell: Morgan? EunJin: You know her? Arnell: Yeah...we just became friends not too long ago. She showed me her ID card, but she took it back before I saw who she worked for. How...interesting... EunJin: Why is that interesting? Arnell: I'll let you know later. EunJin: I like her dress. Red is a great color on her. Arnell: Mm-hmm. Morgan: Thank you, Mr. Carpenter. As Mr. Carpenter is head of PR, I am head of the technology department. Like he said, our department is what helps take this company out and up in the world. We have not stopped in the advancements of inventions in any field. From the day-to-day products we make to the amazingly innovative creations we make, we are not slowing down. We have a small two-minute video we would like to show you right now. - The lights go down and the video plays. Many "ooh's" and "aah's" from the crowd ring throughout the whole video. The lights come back up accompanied by cheers and applause. Morgan: That is just a taste of what is in store for the public. This was also not just a taste of what's to come in the future, this was a taste of what is being made and produced right now. - *applause* Morgan: Yes. Innovation, advancement, continuation, and revisions; these words describe what we do. We keep growing and we keep changing things for the better. I thank you for your time. - Morgan waves to the crowd as she returns to her chair. JungHyun walks up to the microphone again. JungHyun: Thank you, Morgan. To add to what Victor and Morgan have said... EunJin (W): We should talk to Vic sometime soon. Arnell (W): Yeah. EunJin (W): And since you know Morgan, maybe we could get her to help us out. Arnell (W): Hmm... MiYoun: Hey, who is that woman next to the boss? EunJin: There's someone else on stage? I can't see. MiYoun: She's at the end of the stage sitting next to him. The one in the black dress. EunJin: Still can't see her. DongWan: Is she hot? MiYoun: Hehe. She looks gorgeous. My guess is that she is either the boss' date or girlfriend or wife. DongWan: Damn, haha. EunJin: The boss is married? DongWan: No ring on her, no problem for me, haha. JungHyun: ...for days to come. And finally, the main nerve of our company, Mr. Angelo Seda! - Cheers and applaud come from the crowd as they get on their feet. Angelo stands there to receive the accolades. He then signals for them to return to their seats. Angelo: Thank you, everyone. What can I say? Ever since becoming head of this company two years ago, I never expected to reach this point...this highlight in my career. It's indescribable. The many triumphs and successes far outweigh the struggles and troubles I've had to go through with the company and personally. This job has done wonders for me and for all of us and it will continue to do so into the many days that are ahead of us. I want to thank all of you that continue to make this happen for us. - *applause* Angelo: And that is all I have to say. Now...let's enjoy the rest of the night. Bring out the food! |

Episode XI - Intro - "Hmm...some things can't be avoided. Sometimes it is best to just put on a facade. The other option is to just avoid it, but you know that I'm not one to avoid things. Circumstances do change things among people sometimes. Sorry, I'm trying to keep this as positive as I can, but I'm guessing you would know why things are this way. Well, on a lighter side of things, I have a new friend, haha. I know you would like her if you met her." MiYoun: Mm-mm! This food is delicious! Arnell: I can tell you like it. MiYoun: Oh? How? - He points down at his plate where MiYoun's fork has sunken into a piece of chicken. MiYoun: Hehe. Oops. - She takes her utensil back and eats the chicken on it. Arnell: It's okay. Just don't eat it all. EunJin: You already full? Arnell: A little bit. I filled up on too much bread. EunJin: Told you that you should've just waited. Just take some time and let your stomach settle. I want you to be able to lead me out there on the dance floor. MiYoun: There's dancing? EunJin: Fancy dancing. Ballroom dancing. MiYoun: Ooh. I'd love to learn how to do that. EunJin: Well, maybe I'll let you borrow Arnell for a while. We both just learned a couple months ago. MiYoun: As long as you can lead me, Arnell. Arnell: I'll do my best. - At another table... Vic: Are there any other dishes to be served? JungHyun: One more and then dessert. Dessert is a very thick chocolate cake. Nothing but calories there, hehe. Morgan: I'll pass on that. JungHyun: Not wanting the extra pounds added? It's really delicious. I sampled some of it earlier. Morgan: It's not that. I just don't like sweets and chocolates that much. Any of you can have my slice. - Morgan stands up. Morgan: Excuse me for a moment. - She leaves. JungHyun: Can I tell the DJ to start the music soon? I want to get out there and find a cute guy to dance with. - She winks at Vic. Vic: I have no problem, JungHyun. Just ask my wife if it's okay first, haha. JungHyun: Is it okay, Angie? - Next to Vic sits Angie. She thinks about it and then looks to her husband. She then waves him off. Everyone laughs. Angelo: Haha. Not doing your part there, Vic? Vic: Whatever. Now I get to dance with Lee JungHyun worry free, haha. Angelo: The dancing will start a few minutes after dessert is served. It won't be long now. JungHyun: Okay. Will we see you and your girlfriend out on the dance floor? Angelo: Of course. She loves to dance. She's really great at all kinds of dancing. JungHyun: I can't wait to see her dance then. Will it be okay if I get a turn to dance with you, sir? Angelo: Sure. Why would I object to that? JungHyun: Hehe. Thanks. I'm just making sure. - Elsewhere, Morgan comes out of the bathroom. Morgan (T): Whoever picked our seats to be across the room from the bathroom is dead, hehe. - She looks off in the distance toward her table. Someone coming the opposite way a few rows down then catch her eyes. Morgan (T): ...Arnell? What's he doing here? - Morgan changes her path and cuts Arnell off. Arnell: Morgan? Morgan: Arnell! - They hug. Arnell: Saw you on stage. I love your dress. Morgan: Thank you. You look really nice yourself. Arnell: Thanks. Morgan: Of all the places, I would never expect to see you here. Arnell: I could say the same to you. Wish I got a better look at your ID card when you showed it to me. Morgan: That would explain why I am here. What's your reason? Arnell: I'm a guest. Morgan: Oh? Arnell: My girlfriend works for the company. Morgan: OH, hehe. Okay. Arnell: You bring a date? Morgan: I actually brought my brother along since he's in town to visit. I had no one else I would've asked anyways. He actually left a little after the food got served since he has an early flight in the morning. He had fun while he was here though. Arnell: That's good. Morgan: So...are you going to introduce me to your girlfriend or do I have to suggest it to you first like I am now before you do anything about it? Arnell: ...how about I introduce you to my girlfriend..? Morgan: I would love to meet her, hehe. - They start to walk off. Arnell: Wait, I was going to the bathroom. Let me go do that and then do the other thing. Morgan: Hehe. Okay. I'll just wait by the door I suppose. - At the table, the two girls have turned their chairs around to DongWan and Fany. Fany: So full... - He stretches out. DongWan: Yeah. I sort of had to force myself to eat that cake. It was sooooo good. MiYoun: It was. I want more. - Fany places his cake on her empty plate. She beams with delight before taking another bite. MiYoun: ...I'm going to have to punish myself for gorging on food today, hehe. Fany: You're a little stick anyways. A couple extra pounds won't hurt. MiYoun: Quiet. Eating. - The guys laugh. Arnell: Yo, people. - The small clique turns around to see Arnell with Morgan. DongWan: You always meeting people in the bathroom, man? Haha. Arnell: This is Morgan. She was on stage earlier. - Everyone greets her. Morgan: Hi. Arnell: This is DongWan, Fany, MiYoun...who is eating. Morgan: Hehe. Arnell: ...and lastly, EunJin, my girlfriend. EunJin: Nice to meet you. Morgan: Same here. Fany: So we're all co-workers. How come we never see you? Morgan: I'm one of those higher-ups no one likes. I've heard that a lot of us are not like just because of our position. Fany: Oh... Morgan: It's okay. We all know about it. We don't have time to talk about it with anyone else though since we're so busy. DongWan: You must be pretty busy considering you are lead technician. Morgan: That would explain why I was onstage. If anyone has a problem with me then I'll fire you! Others: ... Morgan: Kidding. I can only hire and fire people in my department. I may be high up in the company to be up there with them, but if we have to put everyone on a totem pole...technology wing is maybe the mid of the higher ups. We get our fair share of being kicked around. MiYoun: I bet the paycheck makes up for that. - Arnell shares EunJin's chair and offers his to Morgan. She sits down. Morgan: ...it's not about the money, at least for me. Sure, it's nice, but I take a lot pride in my works. When something turns out great, that is where I get the gratification I like so much from hard work and dedication. Even when we make something that's sub-par...at least we tried. DongWan: One of those types. I'm that way sometimes. EunJin: I'm sure we all are. I know Arnell is. Morgan: You've got to be when you own your own store. DongWan: You have your own store? That's so cool. I've always wanted to have my own business someday. Fany: Me, too. Arnell: It's just a small family video store. Nothing special. MiYoun: EunJin, bring me to his store sometime. I want to check it out. EunJin: Sure. Morgan: So what do the rest of you do as it pertains to our beloved company? EunJin: Well, I'm in accounting along with Fany. MiYoun: I am a secretary for the human resources department. DongWan: I'm in stats. Morgan: Regional? DongWan: They're prepping me to step up to international soon. Morgan: Impressive. I like this nice bunch of workers here. You guys must be really tight. EunJin: Actually, most of us are just meeting for the first time. Morgan: Oh. Hehe. Arnell: Couldn't tell by the way we have been acting. Morgan: That's for sure. - They continue talking. Many minutes pass by. Morgan: ...and it ended up being better in its first prototype stages, hehe. MiYoun: Wow. I'd be so frustrated having to go through all that. Morgan: I was frustrated, but it just ended up being really funny for me. - Music starts to play in. Fany: Looks like it's time for the dance floor to fill up. MiYoun: Will we be seeing our lovely couple out on the floor soon? EunJin: In a bit. I'm still digesting. Arnell: Why don't any of you go out? MiYoun: Oh...I'm too shy... - Arnell gets up and takes her by the hand. Arnell: Let's go. MiYoun: But... EunJin: You shouldn't have said you were shy about it. You sealed your fate there, hehe. MiYoun: Ah... - Arnell drags her along. Morgan: Have fun, you two. EunJin: Why don't you two boys go join them? Fany: Not together, haha. - He gets up from his chair. Fany: But...I'm not want to skip out on browsing around. I'll be making a few rounds to find a dance partner. If you'll excuse me. - He leaves. EunJin: And what about you, DongWan? DongWan: Well, I am busy thinking of an excuse not to go out on the dance floor...and I think I have to do that over there. - He quickly gets up and walks away. The girls laugh. EunJin: Will I see you on the dance floor? Morgan: ...probably not. Can't dance that well. EunJin: Oh. Well, you can try with Arnell. He can lead you. Morgan: I'm guessing he's good. EunJin: ...not really, hehe. He started to learn all kinds of dances...um, sometime ago. He never finished any dance lessons he took, but he at least knows some of what he's doing. Morgan: Kind of like the blind leading the blind. EunJin: Or more like having a seeing-eye-dog, hehe. Oh...that's a bad way to put it. But seriously, go dance with him after MiYoun. You'll at least have fun trying it out. Morgan: Thanks, but what about you? EunJin: I'll get my dance in. Don't worry. - Out on the dance floor, Arnell twirls MiYoun. MiYoun: Hehe. I'm glad you know what you're doing. Arnell: One of us has to or else we'd both be on the floor. - They continue dancing around amongst the sea of people. A couple bumps into them. MiYoun: Whoa. Oops. I'm really sorry. ???: No, it was my fault. Arnell: Oh, Vic. Vic: Arnell. - Vic leans in closer. Vic: Let's go talk. Arnell: Right. MiYoun, want to keep dancing? MiYoun: Hmm. For a little unless you need to talk to your friend. I’m having fun. Vic: It's okay. Continue dancing. I'll catch up with you later, Arnell. - Vic dances off with his wife. The dancing continues until the song ends. Some people applaud as others exit the dance floor. Arnell parts with MiYoun and goes off to look for Vic. He finds him at the bar area. He takes a seat next to him. The bartender brings Vic a drink. Bartender: Anything for you, sir? Arnell: No thanks. - The bartender leaves. Vic: A drink could loosen you up. Every time we talk it's about something serious. Arnell: True, but I don't think a drink will make it any better. Vic: Whatever you wish. Arnell: So, what's up? Vic: Well, you know how it is with these banquets. Every time we hold one we're usually about to take a big step forward in things. Remember that meeting I told you about? Arnell: Yeah. I watched that video clip you emailed to me a few days ago. Vic: Just a taste to things to come. Other than that we are moving things forward business-wise meaning I will be very busy with work. I don't know how much I can be helping you out in the near future. Arnell: Mm... Vic: Sorry, friend. Arnell: Is there anything you can do in the meantime? Vic: Not really. We're starting soon and there hasn't been anything else new since the last time we spoke. Arnell: Damn... - Vic finishes his drink. Arnell: Well, thanks for everything you've done for me thus far. Vic: Glad to help. I know you have to go through some horrendous crap with all this. Arnell: Yeah. Guess I really have to step it up and I'm not just saying it this time. Vic: Got any plans for that? Arnell: ...thinking of something. - Arnell holds out his hands. They shake. Arnell: Thanks, Vic. Vic: I'll see you around. - Arnell walks over to his table where the girls are. EunJin: Here he is. Your next dance partner awaits. - Morgan stands up. EunJin: Don't take too long. I have next. Arnell: You telling me that or Morgan? EunJin: Whomever it applies to more. I'll just say that it applies to you to get rid of any confusion, honey. Morgan: Trust issues? Arnell: She knew what she was getting into. - The girls laugh. EunJin: Go before I change my mind, hehe. Arnell: After you, Morgan. Morgan: Thank you. EunJin: He's just going to be looking at your butt as you walk out there. - Morgan gives Arnell a glare. Arnell: Wow...same look as her...I'll go first. EunJin (W): Now you can check out his butt as you walk out there. Morgan: Hehe. - They walk out to the dance floor. Arnell leads Morgan on. Morgan: ... Arnell: You okay? Morgan: Just concentrating on not tripping. Arnell: Just relax. Morgan: Okay. Arnell: Have fun talking to EunJin? Morgan: Yeah. She's a really nice girl. Very talkative. Arnell: Anything interesting? Morgan: Just general things. Worried she revealed some secrets about you? Arnell: ...now I am. Morgan: Hehe. - They dance some more. Moments later, Arnell's eyes meet with Angelo's. He sits at his table looking right at Arnell as he converses with JungHyun. The two keep their eyes locked for a minute before a waiter interrupts Angelo in need of his presence. He leaves. Arnell's eyes wander off to his table. EunJin notices and waves with a big smile on her face. He smiles back at her. The smile dies down and he focuses on Morgan. Arnell: Umm... Morgan: Hmm? Arnell: Morgan...I need to ask you something. Morgan: Oh...I sense no sarcasm in your tone so it must be very serious. Arnell: It is. - *sigh* Arnell: Where to start..? |

Episode XII - Intro - "Another one of those off days...if I were a frequent drinker, this feels like one of those times I would just go straight home and down a couple. I did do that a couple of weeks ago. EunJin came in worried since she saw I was home early for no reason and half awake in bed. Yeah...I know it's weird to hear that I'm taking a few more drinks than my normal zero, but these days...it's just one of those things that would make me forget some worries. At least I'm not doing drugs. If I did then you know I've hit rock bottom and hit it hard. Don't worry about the drinking though. I can hold my liquor surprisingly, ha. Plus I only drink a couple and it's the expensive stuff. So when those rare times come and I need a drink, if I can't afford it, I won't get anything. I'll always like to have my champagne and wine." Man: C'mon! - Arnell rushes in and ducks under a punch from a tall fighter. He goes around to his back and does a palm press to the man's back. He stumbles. The man turns around to see Arnell running off. He gives chase. Arnell quickly turns a corner and goes into a crowd of people. As he slowly makes his way through, the man stands tall over the crowd and looks around. Arnell (T): What's with all the people? - He bends down a bit as he continues through the crowd. The tall man pushes onward through everyone. Arnell (T): Need to find somewhere to go. - A hand grabs his shoulder. Arnell is turned around by the tall man and blocks a punch. The people around scream and they start to run about. The man loses his grip due to the masses running about. Arnell runs off with a group from the crowd. Man: Grr..! - He pulls out a gun and fires it into the air. More screams ring out and a few hit the floor. He looks around and finds Arnell. The chase continues. The chase leads to the two to a nearby factory. Arnell busts into the building causing a commotion. Worker 1: Hey! You're not aloud in here! Worker 2: Get out! - The chaser makes his way in and the distracted workers grab hold of him. Worker 3: This isn't a playground for you guys to be running around in. - The man punches the worker. Others stop what they're doing and crowd around. Arnell squeezes through the workers as the man is held back. Arnell (T): How convenient. - He exits the building and goes up a fire escape. He looks down through the ceiling window as the men stay crowded around in one area. *BANG* - Arnell instinctly ducks. A few seconds later he peers back through the window to find that the crowd has dispersed and the man with the gun runs off. Arnell runs over to the edge of the building to watch as the man looks around frantically and leaves. He gives a sigh of relief. Noise from inside brings his attention back to the window. Arnell: Damn... - He stands and looks away from the sight of one of the workers sprawled on the floor. As the other factory workers call for help, Arnell walks over to the side of the building. Worker 1: Someone go call an ambulance! Worker 3: Cesar, get up! C'mon! -...- EunJin: ...and-I-am... - She hits one last key on her keyboard. EunJin: Done. Thank you. - She checks over a few papers and over what she typed to make sure of things. Then she puts the papers down and rolls her chair away from the computer. She stretches her arms out behind her head. A hand grabs hers. EunJin's eyes light up and she twists the hand and drags the person over. ???: Ow, ow, ow! EunJin: Huh? - She lets go and covers her mouth. EunJin: Oh, MiYoun! I'm so sorry. MiYoun: You better be sorry. Ooh... EunJin: I'm really, really...really sorry. - She takes her hand and rubs it for her. MiYoun: Remind me never to sneak up on you...but as long as you provide these wonderful massages after each time... EunJin: Sorry. MiYoun: Nice touch and nice grip. You taking self-defense classes or something? EunJin: When I was little. Arnell teaches me a few things and we train together. MiYoun: Ooh. He's a fighter, too. Never would've figured. So you two...get rough with each other? Hehe. EunJin: Hehe. Well, we do...and we DO, hehe. - They laugh. EunJin lets go of her hand. MiYoun: Maybe you could teach me a thing or two about defending myself or at least enough to take you on. EunJin: Now why would I teach you how to beat me? That's just silly, hehe. MiYoun: Good point, but at least I could learn how to defend myself from those creepy perverts out there. EunJin: You have people follow you? MiYoun: ...well... - She looks around and then leans toward EunJin. MiYoun (W): A few times. Scary... EunJin: Whoa. Seriously? - MiYoun nods. MiYoun (W): It's...very disturbing. Street thugs and such...ugh. EunJin (W): How many times has this happened? MiYoun (W): Quite a few times since moving here. - She leans back on a wall of the cubicle. EunJin gets up and takes her jacket. EunJin: You done for today? Want to come have some dinner with me? MiYoun: Oh. Sure. I was actually on my way out anyways. Just thought I'd chat with you for a bit. Dinner sounds good though. Where at? EunJin: I was going to another friend's to eat and meet Arnell there. She won't mind me bringing anyone. C'mon. - The two take their things and start to walk out to the parking garage. EunJin: Where are you parked? MiYoun: Not here. I ride the bus. EunJin: Hmm...no wonder you have people follow you. MiYoun: That thought had occurred to me. I am saving up to get a car soon. EunJin: Having a car is very helpful in this city. Arnell and I share one, but he barely drives it since I have a ways to go for work. - They reach EunJin's car and get in. She gently backs out and drives off into the streets. -...- Arnell: ... - He locks up the doors to the store and walks off. A car pulls up and parks in front of him. The person steps out. Arnell: Hey, Anna. Anna: Hey. Looks like I have good timing. Arnell: Yeah. I was about to start walking. Anna: Well, get in or do you want to walk a little bit? I can swing around and pick you up at the corner if you want. Arnell: ...ha. I think I'll take advantage of you car's air conditioner. Anna: Get in already then. - She unlocks his door and they set themselves in. Anna drives off. Arnell remains quiet as he looks out his window. Anna looks over as they stop at a red light. Anna: Busy day? Arnell: Mm... Anna: I'll take that as a "yes." Arnell: Mm... Anna: It might help if you talk about it. Work is hard at times. Trust me, I know. Arnell: It wasn't work. It was something that happened...outside of the store. Anna: Oh? Arnell: Someone got shot. Anna: What?! - The light turns green and they drive off. Anna: You saw this happen outside of your store? Arnell: ...yeah. Anna: Wow...that must've been shocking to witness. Then again, I'm not surprised you haven't seen anything more or similar to a shooting. You are located in a kind of shady area. Arnell: Mm-hmm. Anna: Thank goodness that you haven't personally been involved in any of these events. Arnell: Mm-hmm... Anna: But I guess they still hit you pretty hard what with what happened on that... Arnell: Don't...just don't. Anna: Oh. Sorry. Didn't know if you were okay with that or not yet. Arnell: ...not your fault. You didn't know, Anna. Anna: I won't bring it up. Sorry. Arnell: ... MiYoun: It really sucks. It's usually the same guys, too. You know, this would never have happened if I never made eye contact with one of them. I should've just kept walking. EunJin: You tried calling the cops? MiYoun: Yes, and may I say that I dislike the law enforcement officers here. "Can't do anything unless something happens." What the heck is that?! EunJin: Yeah. The police are not that reliable. MiYoun: Ugh. You would think they would be. I guess doing their job is a bit too much for them to accomplish. EunJin: That's why you take the law into your own hands sometimes. MiYoun: Self-defense? EunJin: Mm-hmm. MiYoun: I'll pay you to teach me. That is if you have the time. EunJin: Don't know if I'll have the time myself with work and all, but Arnell usually has some free time that he spends training. You could ask him if you really want to learn. I could teach you, but you'd learn quicker with him. MiYoun: Hope I remember to ask him. I'll probably forget and then remember the next time I have a little "encounter" with some...ugh. EunJin: I'll try to remember for you. Anna: ...and then I had to help out with the filing. Arnell: They pay you for doing extra stuff around there? Anna: Nah. If you're able to help, you help. I don't mind doing it sometimes, but today...there was just a lot going on. I needed a break. Arnell: Are you still going to make us dinner? Ask EunJin to cook or at least help so you can relax a little. Anna: You want to help cook? Arnell: You want to lose a kitchen? Anna: Oh yeah. Forgot about your lack of cooking skills. Good thing you have EunJin. She's a great cook. Arnell (M): I've had better... Anna: Hmm? Arnell: Nothing. Anna: You and your muttering. You remind me of my dad. Arnell: Haha... EunJin: No, I didn't. MiYoun: Yeah. It was on the news. I caught it as I was getting a drink in the break room. EunJin: Are you sure it was near our building? MiYoun: A few miles down, yeah. The shooting happened close by. The fact that it happened so close by...kind of freaks me out. As if I didn't have enough to worry about already. Now I have to worry about getting shot. EunJin: You must be really paranoid. MiYoun: Yeah... EunJin: It's okay to be a little paranoid though. Things happen. You need to be aware of them. MiYoun: Anything ever happen to you? EunJin: ... MiYoun: I'll take that as a "yes." EunJin: A few muggings. Attempted muggings. The first time I got mugged...well, I got mugged. Lost all my cash and my purse. I got a little roughed up. The mugger threw me up against the wall and slapped me down. MiYoun: Oh my! What did Arnell say about it? EunJin: I think he would've said, "Tell me what happened" and comfort me, but I don't know. I wasn't going out with him at the time. Didn't even know him. MiYoun: Oh. Sorry, I just assumed...yeah. EunJin: It's okay. MiYoun: So... EunJin: ...yes? MiYoun: I don't know which part to ask about now. EunJin: What do you mean? MiYoun: Either more about when you got mugged or how you met Arnell. EunJin: Well, the mugging story continues like most mugging stories and it ends like most mugging stories. If you must know, the guy did get caught so there's sort of a happy ending to that. MiYoun: Oh. That's good then. I guess I'd like to know about you and Arnell then. EunJin: Mm...some other time. MiYoun: Didn't you say that before? EunJin: Probably did. MiYoun: Touchy subject? EunJin: It usually leads to a few touchy subjects. MiYoun: Well, you can stop it before it gets there then. Arnell: I'm hungry... Anna: Well, you're going to have to wait a few minutes as I prepare things. - She begins to chop up some vegetables. Arnell pulls up a stool and watches on the other side of the table. Anna: If you help, the food will be done quicker. - She puts a bowl of vegetables on the counter. Anna: Wash. - He gets up and stands over the sink next to Anna. He takes off his over shirt and throws it to a nearby chair. Anna: Without soap. - He turns his head to see her giggling and cutting more vegetables. He turns the water on and puts the bowl in the sink. Arnell: I'm not that cooking illiterate. Anna: Hehe. EunJin ever teach you anything? Arnell: I can boil water. Anna: Lesson number one. That is an important place to start. Anything else? Arnell: Noodles. Anna: Just add water. Good thing you learned how to boil water. Arnell: You picking on me for any reason? Anna: I'm bored, you're there, you amuse me. Arnell: ...as long as you're fair game to be made fun of. Anna: Like you never make fun of me. This is maybe the one time I make fun of you out of the twenty times you make fun of me and I'm being generous by saying "twenty." Arnell: You lash back good though. You cut deep when you really turn it on. Anna: Yeah. Be happy that I don't pick on you so much. - *ding dong* Anna: Could you get that? Arnell: Yeah. - *ding dong* Anna: Now? - He leaves the water running low and takes a towel as he goes to the door. He dries his hands and opens the door. On the other side are EunJin and MiYoun smiling big. Arnell: Anna, you have some weird neighbors. - He walks back to the kitchen leaving the door open for the girls to walk in. EunJin closes the door behind her as the girls take off their shoes. EunJin: Nice to see you, too. - They walk to the kitchen area. Anna: Hi, EunJin. Hi. I'm Anna. I'll be your cook for the evening. MiYoun: Hello, Anna. I'm MiYoun. I hope you don't mind cooking for an extra person. Anna: Not a problem. I usually make more than enough. Arnell: And I usually eat it. EunJin: I see you put him to work. Anna: He's the one that's hungry. He could help out. Arnell: With EunJin now here, the food will be done quicker. - He shuts off the water and goes back to his stool. EunJin gives him a glare. Arnell: I'll only slow you down. EunJin: ...you've got a good point. - EunJin walks over to the other side of the counter. MiYoun sits next to Arnell. MiYoun: Hi. Arnell: Hey. - She feels his arm. Arnell: Weird way to greet people. MiYoun: You just don't look like a fighter... Arnell: You tell her something, babe? EunJin: Obviously. Anna: For a guy who can eat a lot, he's very fit. EunJin: You tell HER something, baby? Arnell: Obviously. - *laughter* EunJin: MiYoun wants to learn some self-defense techniques. MiYoun: If you have time. Arnell: I can make some time. Any reason you want to learn? MiYoun: Fight off thugs in the name of justice...guys that stalk me. Anna: Join the club. MiYoun: Really? Anna: Happened a couple times. Hasn't happened lately, which is great. Arnell taught me a few things just in case. MiYoun: Can you believe all the creeps and weirdoes that are in this town? Anna: It's horrible. The police in Rinoasai do not do a good job. MiYoun: EunJin and I were just talking about that. Did you hear about that shooting earlier today? Anna: Hear about it? Arnell saw it. EunJin: You did? Arnell: ...yeah. Anna: Happened right outside the store. How could he not see it? MiYoun: Oh. I was talking about another shooting that was close to our work place. I'm sure Arnell didn't see that if he was working at his store. Anna: Where did you hear about the shooting? MiYoun: News. - EunJin looks over to Arnell. He looks up to her. Anna: Two shootings in one day...sad. - He gives her a knowing nod. She gasps. The others turn to her. Anna: You okay? Did you cut yourself? - She grabs her finger really quick. EunJin: Mm...yeah, just a little bit. Where are your band-aids? Anna: Bathroom. - EunJin walks off. Arnell: I'll go check on her. Anna: Good boyfriend, hehe. MiYoun: Hehe. - Arnell meets EunJin in the bathroom. She sits on the edge of the tub. EunJin: There was no shooting outside the store was there? Arnell: You didn't cut your finger. EunJin: What were you doing in our part of town? Arnell: I was attacked. He pulled out a gun so I ran. EunJin: That was a long run. Arnell: He wouldn't give up. EunJin: ...you okay? Arnell: Yeah. It was a close one. EunJin: Arnell... - She gets up and hugs him tight. EunJin: I really hope you meant it the last time you said we'd do something about this. Arnell: I did. Trust me. Things will happen soon. - He kisses her on top of her head. Arnell: It's going to be our turn to hit them back. |

Episode XIII - Intro - "I remember that trip we took to the tropics. Man...that was a great time. Having just a piece of land to ourselves. No one around to bother us unless we needed help with maintenance. Didn't need their help anyways since we fixed anything that was wrong. I don't have enough money to go back there with EunJin, but I am looking to get this place by a lake. It's really nice. We rented a place there before and spent the weekend there. Lots of water things to do like jet ski. I'm planning to surprise her with it, but it won't be another month or two before I make enough money to afford it. I haven't spoiled her as much as I would like to...but she's very appreciative of the little things." EunJin: And then what? Fany: Then we have to finish the report before the week is over. EunJin: Why do we have to help with promotions though? Where are the people that usually do this? Fany: No idea. EunJin: Is this for the public or just for shopping around the other companies? Fany: My guess is that it's for shopping around. We would never release our numbers like this to the public. Has to be a business thing. EunJin: ...we have all week for this, right? Fany: They'd like it as soon as possible. There's some added incentive. If we finish early then we get a day off plus half a day's pay. EunJin: Wow! They must really want this thing done quickly to offer something like that. Fany: That's why I came to tell you right away. The report doesn't seem that hard to do. Seems pretty normal. Doing the promotional stuff like the slideshow and... - He looks through papers in a folder. Fany: ...whatever else it was they asked for...yeah...those things will take more time. EunJin: That day off sounds really nice...but I could just be lazy about it and it would seem like a day off. Fany: Won't get that half a day's pay though. EunJin: Yeah...that sounds nice also. Fany: The team is leaving it up to you as to how we go about this since you're the senior member. So...whatever you decide. EunJin: It seems doable in under a week. We can actually take our time and finish up in five days. We start it tomorrow, right? - He nods. EunJin: Then we'll start tomorrow. Just have everyone meet in the meeting room when they arrive. We'll discuss things and divide the jobs up. Sound good? Fany: Not a problem. I'll call up people tonight and let them know. EunJin: Thanks. - EunJin yawns. Fany: Late night? EunJin: Guess you can say that. Fany: Why not go home early then? EunJin: You going to finish up my work for me? Fany: ...OR I can get someone else to do it. EunJin: Either way works for me. Thanks. I really want to just go home... - She gets up and puts on her jacket. EunJin: Eat... - She picks up her purse. EunJin: Take a shower and go lie down. Fany: Sounds good. You have a nice night, EunJin. EunJin: Thanks. Same to you, Fany. - EunJin leaves. -...- - Arnell sits on the couch and reads a letter. Arnell: Hmm...thanks, Vic. - He sets the letter down and picks up the folder it came in. A couple of photos are taken out of the folder. Each one is labeled on the bottom. The first one is a display of weapons. The next photo is of a small robotic walker simply labeled "Walker." He flips the photo over to see a brief description of it. A door is heard closing. EunJin: Secret photos? Arnell: A little present from our informant. You're home early. - He puts down the photo as EunJin takes a seat next to him. She leans up against his arm. EunJin: Came back to relax...too bad that won't happen. Arnell: Huh? EunJin: Two of them a couple houses down. I'm guessing that they've gotten wind of who is helping us out. - She takes the photos from him and puts it back in the folder. She then slides it under the couch. She gets up and walks off. EunJin: I'll go change so we can take care of them. Arnell: Hey, you don't have to if you don't want to. I can do it myself. EunJin: That's okay. I need to put up with my end of this, too. - She proceeds to change in her room. EunJin: Besides, I spotted them. I could've just not told you and did the job myself. If I did that, I know you would worry even if I were able to handle on my own. It will also be easier with you helping anyways. Arnell: Mm... - She comes back out wearing a plain t-shirt and shorts. EunJin: I bet you're glad that they didn't attack me on the way home. Arnell: But you were in your car. EunJin: Yeah, but they could’ve done something and I might have crashed. - She gives him a kiss on the cheek. EunJin: Come on, baby. Let's go kick some butt and then you can show me the photos that are giving us trouble right now. - She starts to leave, but Arnell grabs her by the arm. Arnell: What's wrong? EunJin: Nothing. I just want to get this over with so I can relax. I didn't want to come home early and not relax, but this happens and it's got me a bit ticked. So if you don't mind... - She frees her arm from Arnell's grasp and turns around. EunJin: What's with you and not wanting to fight? You usually are one to want to deal with it and don't mind the testosterone flowing through your veins. Arnell: Fine. Whatever. Let's go do it. EunJin: Do you not want to do this? You want them to just spy around on us? They already have us pinned down enough. - She starts to walk off. Arnell: Look, I said, "let's go" so let's go. Just be quiet and c'mon. - She stops and turns around. She stomps back over to him. EunJin: Don't tell me to shut up! Arnell: I never said that! EunJin: Damn, Arnell! Why are you making this situation worse than it is? Arnell: I'm making it worse? EunJin: Yeah. You. Arnell: Oh, I'm making this worse. EunJin: That's right. Arnell: What the h*ll am I doing? You're the one with the attitude. You're the one PMSing around the house. - *slap* EunJin: Jerk! - She storms out and the door slams. It opens again with EunJin poking her head in. EunJin: Don't even come and help me. I wasn't even going to come back for your help at first because you know what, I don't need your help. Arnell: Don't be stu... - *SLAM* - Arnell walks over to the wall and punches it. A picture frame of Arnell, EunJin, and a few others, falls from the other side of the wall. The frame and glass cracks. Outside, EunJin is out as if she was taking a late jog. She can feel the presence of her followers behind her. She continues on until she reaches a vending machine next to a small parking lot. She buys a drink with the change in her pocket and drinks it as she walks into the parking lot. As she wipes her mouth… EunJin: Come out of hiding. I know you're out there. The sooner we start, the sooner you can go crying back home. - A pair of girls steps out from the shadows. EunJin: Am I always going to be the one having to deal with other girls? Female 1: We are not just little girls you can kick around. You'll find that out soon enough. Female 2: Kei...always with the talk. Kei: Go ahead and start off if you want, Mei. I won't stop you. Mei: Great. - With that said, Mei rushes toward EunJin. EunJin ducks a jump kick and sets her drink down. She gets up and turns around to block a knee strike. She pushes her knee off and connects with a kick to the head. Mei rolls back, but quickly gets back on her feet. The two start a kick combination. Each kick cancels the other out. EunJin is the first to throw in a punch. Mei gets a good grip on her wrist and tosses her off to the side. EunJin flips up. Mei: Kei! Kei: Mei! - Kei tosses Mei a pair of sais. Mei twirls them in her hands a bit and readies herself. The sais spark up with electricity, which catches EunJin's attention. Mei lunges. She misses as EunJin cartwheels to the side. Mei continues her attacks as EunJin continually dodges. They reach a wall. EunJin leaps off of it, but Mei swings upward cutting EunJin on her stomach. She lands, but stays down. She slowly turns around to catch Mei's wrists. They struggle for a bit until a smile forms on Mei's face. She quickly changes the grip on the sais so that they point downward. The tip of each one just touches EunJin's wrists and shocks her until she lets go. EunJin stumbles back until she taps her drink with her foot. Mei increases the strength of the electricity on her sais and charges again. She runs a short distance and leaps into the air getting ready to strike down on her foe. EunJin quickly takes her drink and tosses it up into the air. Mei screams as the sais shock her back. She falls to the ground screaming as she throws them away. One misses EunJin and the other lands close to Kei. Kei: Mei, it's not over yet. - She tosses Mei a set of gloves. They fall a bit short. Mei crawls over and grabs one as EunJin sprints by and grabs the other. She watches as Mei puts on the one glove and unsheathes a set of claws. EunJin puts the glove on, but does not know how to make the claws come out. Mei gets up and starts to swing. EunJin dodges each one and gets in a couple of jabs. She slaps Mei's gloved hand away causing the claws to retract. Mei pushes a small button on the top of the glove to bring the claws back out. EunJin watches on and slaps the top of her hand, which makes her claws come out. Kei (T): Can't believe Mei is screwing up like this. Well, I never said I wasn't going to get into this fight. - Kei pulls a gun from her back. As she finishes loading up a clip, she notices someone looking right at her from the shadows on the opposite side of the parking lot. She aims the gun over in that direction only to see a head shake back and forth along with a finger doing the same. She gives a disgusted look and puts the gun away. She watches the ongoing fight. Kei (T): Who the h*ll is that? The nerve of that guy being all calm and cool telling me to put my gun away as if I'm no trouble at all. a$$hole. - She continually looks back and forth from the fight to the person in the shadows. Meanwhile, EunJin and Mei continue clawing at each other. They lock claws and struggle. Mei gets pushed back to a gate. It gradually opens as the weight of the girls pushes against it. As it opens, Mei uses the momentum and tosses EunJin over her head. EunJin flips over and lands safely with her claw dragging against the ground. As she looks up, Mei kicks her in the face and pushes her into the side of a dumpster. Then Mei runs off closer to Kei. Mei: Kei...she's tough. Help me out, please. Kei: I can't. Mei: Huh? - She looks up at Kei whose focus is towards the shadows. Mei's eyes light up as she sees someone there. Mei slowly gets up and bumps into Kei. Kei: Hey! Mei: Just take care of whoever that is. Kei: I want to... Mei: Then do that or help me. Kei: ...uh... - She turns to Kei who is shocked. Mei: I can't believe you're letting him psyche you out. Kei: ... Mei: Forget you. - She takes the gun from Kei's back and conceals it in her back. She makes her way over as EunJin gets back up. Mei: C'mon. EunJin: ... - EunJin wipes a trickle of blood from her mouth. Again they lock claws. With her free hand, EunJin punches Mei away and then gets a couple of kicks to her side. Mei reels back and suckers EunJin in for a slash on her claw arm. EunJin falls back holding her cuts as Mei stands over her. She takes out the gun and aims for her head. Just then, a soda can knocks the gun out of her hand. A second one hits her in the stomach. EunJin quickly slips between her legs and claws Mei behind her left knee. Mei falls to one knee. Slowly EunJin gets up, but is quickly knocked back down by Kei. Kei frantically removes the claw off of EunJin's hand. She then picks up Mei and escapes after dropping a flash bomb. As the flash dies down, EunJin sees Arnell holding out his hand for her. She looks back down as she remembers being mad at him. Her eyes land on her bleeding stomach and arm. She gives a sigh and holds out her hand as she continues to look away. Arnell takes her hand and quickly swings her onto his back and carries her home. EunJin: ... Arnell: ... - They finally reach home. Arnell brings her to the kitchen and sets her on the counter. He goes to a nearby closet and looks around for something. EunJin sighs again and looks around. She notices that something is missing from the wall. Off on another table she sees the cracked picture frame placed on it with the picture removed from it. Arnell comes back with a first aid kit. After her wounds get cleaned, she holds out her arm to get bandaged. Instead, Arnell picks her up and carries her off. The trip ends in the bathroom where Arnell has drawn a bath for EunJin. He sets her down on her feet. She continues holding onto him and the two hug. Arnell gives her a kiss and leaves the room. EunJin: ...thank you. |

Episode XIV - Intro - "I know that sometimes I...I act stubborn. Can't help it. Everyone has a small sense of stubbornness and it comes out differently. I know that you've always been annoyed by it whenever it came out of me. You weren't that great when your stubbornness kicked in, haha. I can easily think back about one of our fights and laugh about it. It was fun butting heads at times. I...I miss that at times...weird." - EunJin ducks a shuriken thrown at her. She then flips over two blade saws thrown at her. She lands next to Arnell. He wraps her arm with his and swings her to the side. He follows her in the swing to avoid an even bigger saw blade. They push off each other and hit an attacker each, knocking them out. EunJin turns around. EunJin: Behind you! - She leaps over him and lands on top of a mechanized floor sweeper. She incapacitates the sweeper. She then grabs it by her feet and tosses it off. She turns to see Arnell at the opposite side of the room taking out a larger, yet still small, version of the sweeper. One of the arms hits him in the side, but he grabs on to it. He jumps over it and pulls back on it until it breaks off. He then takes the arm and jams it into a small compartment on the top of the sweeper to stop it. He takes the arm and tosses it to EunJin who is fending off three attackers. The arm hits one of them in the back, taking him out. EunJin catches the arm and swings it around like nunchukus. She does a few combos to each remaining attacker one after the other. She takes one big swing to take both of them down. Arnell joins her as an attacker with a gun comes out. They split up to avoid the shots. The attacker targets Arnell first. He fires five shots in his direction. He ducks and runs past them. Another shot is fired and it grazes by Arnell's face. He watches as that last shot makes a slice through the wall. He avoids more shots and even grabs a small-dismantled sweeper to use as a shield. As the shots are fired, EunJin runs from behind and leaps into the air. She readies her kick, but the gunman turns around and fires a shot at her. The bullet passes through her head. She lands on the ground. EunJin: ...damn. - The gunman fades away along with other attackers and sweepers. The room then changes to an empty room. EunJin: I'm sorry... Arnell: Are you okay? EunJin: ...I guess I am. - Someone joins them in the room. Morgan: You should be fine. Even though you were able to feel physical contact from everything else... - She sits on a chair with a clipboard. Arnell walks over to EunJin and helps her up. Morgan: Whenever a serious life taking attack connects, the system shuts down. EunJin: I see. Morgan: If it were real, you wouldn't be able to see the rest of what went on. That shot went through your head. EunJin: Don't remind me. - They join Morgan as they catch their breath. Morgan: The system is designed that way. We could switch that option and change it. That means if you are "killed" in the program, a paralysis program turns on in those headbands. Of course being paralyzed from that simulates you being killed off and any other users can continue on. Arnell: Wouldn't matter. If that really did happen, I would try to quickly take out the attacker and then immediately take EunJin somewhere for medical care. EunJin: So does the paralysis kick in say if we were to break a bone in a fight? Would they be able to simulate that also? Morgan: Of course. You're not just working with any state of the art technology. You're working with MY state of the art technology. Would you like to see any of the charts that the program shows? - EunJin starts to walk to the door. Arnell: How about we get some drinks while you tell us more stuff? Morgan: Sounds good. - They leave and walk downstairs. Morgan: It's a good thing you have that huge upstairs room. What do you use it for? Arnell: Training mostly. Sometimes we do stuff to that room for fun like a party area. Morgan: It's very convenient that you have that then for the hologram program. EunJin: Drinks? - EunJin walks off to the kitchen as the other two sit in the living room. Arnell: Juice. Morgan: Water. Arnell: That's an awesome hologram program you have made, Morgan. Can you actually call them holograms though? We can feel them and other things that get projected. So would they be more than holograms? Morgan: Well...it's easier to call them holograms. Arnell: No other way to explain it? Morgan: Hehe. Actually, there is. Again, it's the transmissions the headbands send to your brain. It stimulates whatever part of your body that makes contact with the object projected. That's how you're able to feel anything there. Arnell: Oh. - He takes off his headband and looks on the inside of it. Arnell: Hard to believe that this little thing is able to do that. Morgan: Along with the projectors set up in the room. - EunJin returns with drinks for everyone. She sits with Arnell. Arnell: What about sweat? Morgan: The protective gel layer, which is VERY thin, blocks and absorbs the sweat from touching any circuitry. You probably couldn't tell that there was a gel on it. Like I said, VERY thin. EunJin: Wow. Arnell: I have another question. Morgan: Go ahead, Arnell. I figure I'd be fielding a few questions after you two tried this out for the first time. Arnell: Okay. Well, I know that you explained before about the flat bullets and how powerful they are. So how come they were able to pierce through the walls and not the little shield I was using in the end? Morgan: Oh. Okay. The walls were obviously simulated normal walls. The metal you used as a shield was a piece of one of the sweepers. The sweepers are made of a strong material that the flat bullets can't penetrate. If you tried using anything other than part of a sweeper then it would've been you that ended the program. EunJin: So you made a weapon powerful enough to go through almost anything AND you made functional robots that have a strong enough metal so your own weapons can't hurt it? Morgan: And armor that's similar. EunJin: What if your supposed enemies you're making these to fend from gets a hold of the material or armor? Then you can't take that person down or they could figure how to make more of the material to suit up a whole army. Morgan: We've...considered that scenario happening. That is why we also have the one thing that can take care of that situation. EunJin: Hmm...could we get some of that then? Morgan: That would be the easiest thing to do if it were easy to get in our possession. We have that under heavy surveillance. Chances of getting it are slim. Arnell: Can't you just make more of it? Morgan: The material is also locked up tight. Same security around that as the actual made products. Sorry. EunJin: Don't be. You're doing a lot for us. Arnell: Yeah, Morgan. I know it was a bit much to understand the situation we're in. Morgan: Yeah. I didn't believe you at first. Arnell: Then you saw the evidence of things after a few weeks. EunJin: Hard to ignore those facts. - Morgan puts the clipboard on the table. Morgan: Those are scans done when the program is in use. They plot out things like heart rate, body energy, measures strength used, and other things like that. They’re pretty self-explanatory. You can look at those whenever you want. EunJin: I guess we can look at it later. Arnell: Hey, thanks for coming today to do this for us. Morgan: No problem. I told you I would come once I was given some off time from work. I'll do what I can to help you two out. EunJin: We appreciate it. - Morgan finishes her drink. Morgan: I've been against the making of weapons from the start. This isn't what I wanted to do with the skills I have. EunJin: Oh? Morgan: Yeah. I started off making all these useful inventions that served an everyday purpose. Then I got into a groove and started making some weird things that was still cool and somewhat beneficial. I never thought I'd be making weapons though. It...it irks me. Arnell: Don't like the fact that you're making killing machines? Morgan: Something like that. It sort of feels like my hands are the ones doing the killing... Arnell: Do you mind that we're kind of using the weapons ourselves? Morgan: It's different with you guys though. You're under fire with Angelo and some stupid vendetta he has against you, Arnell. It's ridiculous. Arnell: Mm-hmm. Morgan: I've had my own troubles with the big boss. So I'm not liking him much and don't mind getting back at him somehow. EunJin: Why don't you just quit? With all your credentials you should be able to get work anywhere. Morgan: I have plenty of offers, but my contract is very binding. I knew what I was signing and I didn't mind it because I knew that I wanted to work with this company and I didn't think I would work anywhere else or want to work anywhere else. Arnell: You should. You could probably start your own business. Morgan: Hey, not a bad idea. I'm pretty sure there are ways out of my contract that I haven't thought of just yet. So much work...I do have bills to pay. Arnell: Understandable. - EunJin stretches out. She lets out a little groan. Morgan: Are you okay, EunJin? EunJin: Yeah...just some pains from a few days ago. - She shows her the cuts on her stomach and on her arm. Morgan: Ouch. And you're able to take this type of pain? EunJin: It's not like I enjoy it, but these things happen when you're not careful. Fighting hurts. Morgan: I could never take that kind of pain. I'm a total baby when it comes to getting hurt. - She touches EunJin's cuts and cringes a bit. Morgan: You're a tough woman. EunJin: Fights are tough. I wasn't in the proper mindset that night. Arnell: Speaking of that night...let me show you something. - Arnell leaves for a bit. The girls hear a door open and close a few seconds later. Arnell returns with a gun in his hand. EunJin: Whoa! Be careful with that. Arnell: It's not loaded. EunJin: Didn't even know you had a gun. Morgan: Where did you get that? May I take a look at it? - Arnell flips the gun handle around and hands it to Morgan. Morgan: How did you get your hands on this flat gun shooter? - *Flashback* - Kei sets off the flash bomb. In the flash, Kei runs in and picks up Mei and hoists her onto her back. She then makes a sharp turn to her right and goes for the gun on the ground. Just before she reaches it, Arnell appears on the opposite side of the gun. He snatches it up and rushes over in front of EunJin. The two lock eyes just before Kei runs away with Mei. He then turns to EunJin as the flash bomb dies out. - *End Flashback* Morgan: Well, congratulations. You have quite a weapon in your possession. I guess you'll be paying Angelo and his group back for what they've done to you. Arnell: Keep it. Morgan: What? Arnell: You said you don't like the fact your making things that kill...so...do what you want with it. Morgan: ...are you sure? EunJin: I think I'll have to agree with Arnell. We're not killers. Arnell: Ever since this started, all the fights we've been in, we never killed any of them. Morgan: But they're out to kill you two. If anything, this is for your protection. Arnell: No. - He shakes his head. Arnell: Just take it back. It's yours anyways. Morgan: ... - She starts to set it down on the table, but stops. She takes it back and takes a good look at it. Arnell: Oh, looking for the clip? I'll get it. Morgan: No, it's not that. Just had a quick brainstorm. EunJin: Oh? Morgan: Well, I've already given you a few weapons that don't necessarily kill unless you apply it to do so. EunJin: Like the metal Bo and the claws? Morgan: Mm-hmm. Well, we do have guns that don't kill. We have a bola gun and different types of net shooters. EunJin: Oh. Sounds good. Morgan: And I just had a thought as to how to mod guns like these. We have been having plans to make effect bullets. Arnell: What are effect bullets? Morgan: Basically, they're bullets, but they don't kill...well, initially they don't kill, but they can. Basically, the bullets could do other things such as paralyze or poison the target. EunJin: So you're going to do that for us? Morgan: It won't be hard. If I sacrifice some sleep time, I can get you working versions of the gun and flat effect bullets to go with it within a week. I could always "delay" the release of the effect bullets for the company saying they're defective or need more tweaking-slash-testing. Arnell: You can really do that, Morgan? - She stands up and poses with the gun. Morgan: I am head of the technology department. I can do what I want. Arnell: Haha. Cool. EunJin: So what kind of effect bullets were you supposed to make? - Arnell gestures for the gun. Morgan hands it over. He begins to examine it and aim around. Morgan: Germ warfare type bullets. EunJin: Wow...that's insane. Morgan: I know...disgusts me...well, for you guys I'm going to try to create the paralysis ones. I remember hearing a suggestion of sensory depriving effects...that I'll try to work on, but those will be tough. By sensory depriving, I mean that it could take out sight, smell, touch, or the rest of your senses. EunJin: Interesting. What's the point of taking out the sense of smell? Morgan: If you can't smell that there's a toxin in the air then you'd be inhaling the dangerous fumes and die from it. EunJin: You guys think of everything. - EunJin grabs the gun from Arnell and starts to aim it around. EunJin: Are there any other toys you can give us to play with? Morgan: I've given you weapons already and I'm working on the guns for you. Anything else you want? Arnell: Any defensive or stealth type things? Morgan: The defensive tools would be harder to get like the metal used on the sweepers. As for stealth, we don't have anything new that we're working on, but I can get my hands on some of the stuff we have made already. That cool? Arnell: No problem. Just give us what you can as soon as you can so we can practice with it. - EunJin hands the gun to Morgan. Morgan: In a rush? Arnell: Mm...sort of. EunJin: Time for us to strike back! Morgan: Hehe. Well, I'll be back soon then. EunJin: You leaving? - Morgan gets up and takes her purse. Morgan: Yeah. Have to get to work for some late night "inventory." EunJin: Ah. Got it. Morgan: Thanks for having me over. EunJin: Our pleasure. Thanks for all you're doing for us. Arnell: Yes. Thank you, Morgan. Morgan: You're welcome. We're all doing this for the better. EunJin: That's right. Fight the good fight and all that other corny, clichéd stuff. - *laughter* Morgan: Bye. |

Episode XV - Intro - "Well...things have...have gotten more...interesting. I don't know what else to tell you. I've had to close the store down a few days because I've had to deal with so many things. EunJin has been maintaining the same schedule, but has had some rough times with things lately. I'm sorry...I even have to cut this short...I'm sorry. Next time I'll say more, I promise." Angelo: Do it. - Arnell walks down the sidewalk. He rubs his eyes from under his sunglasses. As he walks through a crowd of people, he grips onto a briefcase as he turns the next corner. He looks around each end of the alley to make sure it is clear before he goes up the fire escape. On top of the roof, he sets the briefcase down and proceeds to take things out of it. He takes a pair of binoculars and looks down towards a building. After a few seconds, he moves his focus to the next building over. He spots someone from a window close to the roof. Again he changes his view to the building on the opposite side of the first one to find another person a couple of floors below the top floor. Arnell (T): Great. - After putting away the binoculars, he takes out a pair of sunglasses and then a gun. From his point of view, everything is now bright. He pushes a switch and the colors change. He looks toward the first person he saw. The person is now definably outlined and colored black. He then puts the gun up. A laser starts to shine and line up with the person in view. He switches his view to the other building and his second target. A second gun is pulled out and the laser is aimed at the target. Both laser lines are in view. (Morgan): It's hard to explain. Just think of them as selective light lenses. It can block out certain lights and let in others. This makes them functional anytime of day for different purposes. - He fires both at the same time. Both connect, but each target stands still. He quickly reaches down and pulls up two different guns. He quickly lines up the lasers and fires again. (Morgan): So far I've only made a few effect bullets; paralysis and mute. I'm sure you'll find those useful enough. - He starts to put everything away. He takes out his cell phone, dials, and lies down on the roof. He switches his sunglasses back to normal. Arnell: Yes, I'd like to report some suspicious activities... - From the building in the middle comes EunJin with her work briefcase. She takes her sunglasses out from her coat and puts them on. She pushes a small switch by the ear tips and looks up. She sees through the buildings to see people moving about. She focuses on the two separate people standing still whom Arnell had shot earlier. She looks up to the building in front of her as someone walks from the top to the edge and gives her a thumbs up. (Morgan): The x-ray glasses are separate from the other vision glasses. It was too hard to put all the functions on a single pair. So we have several glasses and visors that do other things as well. - EunJin walks off. On the roof, Arnell goes down the fire escape he came up on earlier. He pushes a button behind his ear. Arnell: Everything good? EunJin: Yeah. I didn't think they would get desperate as to set up people outside of work. You would think they wouldn't want operations to hit so close. Arnell: We've been hitting them pretty hard lately. - He takes out a pair of gloves from his shirt pocket and begins to put them on. EunJin: We stepped up, they stepped up. I'm sure this will go on for a while. Arnell: Expected nothing less. See anything good while working? EunJin: I tried. My new "reading" glasses work, but there was nothing I could find. You find anything while taking a walk? - She crosses the street with a crowd of walkers. Arnell: Didn't find anything, but I was busy. Had spotters at home and at work. It was another great chance to try out the toys. EunJin: You get to have all the fun. Arnell: We could always switch if you want. EunJin: Nah. I'm fine. You think that since we're using these that they've reported it to their main man? Arnell: Of course. They stepped up. You were the one who pointed that out. EunJin: I know, but remember that Vic said they were going to put the pressure on us more. It was bound to happen. Arnell: True. - He walks amongst a crowd of people. Arnell: They do back off quicker now. Well...sometimes. EunJin: Wonder how Angelo is taking it. It must be ticking him off. Arnell: The more of them that come, the more pissed he must be. EunJin: You never know. We could be getting to him so much that he’ll just lay off. Arnell: That would be great, but that’s very doubtful. By the way, you have a couple coming from your right side. EunJin: Are you sure? - He presses a switch and his view changes to a heat vision type mode. Three people stand out. Each has blotches of red on them outlining types of weaponry. (Morgan): We made this type of mode to be able to spot out our technology. It was made in the event some of our technology was stolen or if the users were under any type of circumstances where their view was muddled and they couldn’t tell who was part of their team. - He tilts his shades down a bit to get a profile of them. Arnell: One guy with a white sports coat is on your right side. The other is a blonde haired girl with a black tube top and a black choker. I don’t…see anyone else you can mistake them for. EunJin: Where should we take them? Arnell: Where are we? - She looks to a couple of street signs. EunJin: Coming up on Uematsu and Sakaguchi. That means we're near the new construction area further down on Sakaguchi. You want to go there? Arnell: Lead the way. - Once she reaches the corner, she takes a right on Sakaguchi. Arnell watches as the man continues to follow her down the road and as the woman begins to run off in another direction. Arnell: They split up. One is still following you. I'll chase the other one. EunJin: Got it. Be careful. Arnell: You, too. Call if you need help. EunJin: Same for you, honey. - Arnell continues to follow the woman. She goes into a building and takes the elevator. Arnell enters the building and turns the switch back on his shades to identify similar technology. He goes and takes the stairs and follows, always remaining somewhat behind her. On the streets, EunJin opens her briefcase and takes out a firearm, trying to keep it as concealed as she can. She closes her briefcase and starts to load the weapon from under her dress coat with her other hand. She finishes as she continues to approach the construction area. She looks to both sides to see no workers around. She looks behind her to see the others walking in the same direction. She then speeds up and makes her way to the construction area. After getting into the main area, she pushes a button on the briefcase and slides it ahead of her to a construction sign. She turns around to find no one there. Man: Trying to be crafty, are you? Tsk tsk. You look good... - He profiles her. Man: ...but there's obviously no brains in this package. - EunJin turns around and smirks. Man: I thank you for voluntarily giving back our products. - He walks up to the briefcase and picks it up. A second later, the case shocks him hard. EunJin walks closer as the man screams in pain. Once she is a few feet away, she takes out her firearm. Man: ...n-n-no! D-d-d-do-don't...sh-shoot..! - *BANG* - A bola is fired out that wraps around the man and brings him down to the ground. EunJin takes out a small remote and pushes a button. She then picks up the briefcase, shock-free. The man lies still suffering from the shock. EunJin takes out a phone and makes a call. EunJin: Hi. I would like to report... - Back in the building, Arnell continues to follow the woman who is still going up in the elevator. He realizes where she is going so he starts to speed up. He gets out to the roof and hides. EunJin: I'm done. Arnell: That was quick. I'm about to start. EunJin: Need help? Arnell: I'll let you know if I...oh. I hear her. Out. EunJin: Hey, but where... - Arnell pushes a switch to cut off their transmission. On the streets, EunJin walks away from the construction as she switches her shades view mode in hopes to spot Arnell. Back on the roof, Arnell sits waiting. He puts the briefcase down and opens it. He pulls out a small pipe shaped object and tucks it up his sleeve. He kicks the briefcase closed and sits back up against a duct nearby. He peeks his head out just a little to get the elevator doors in view. The doors open, but no one comes out yet the doors remain open. Arnell hesitantly gets up from his post and approaches the door with caution. He stands just outside the open door. He quickly steps in prepared, but nothing. He looks over to see a bar holding the "open door" button down. Arnell: What the..? - Just then, a net falls on Arnell. The woman falls on top of him after, knocking him down. She quickly grabs the ends of the net and drags him out. She ties it up and stands over him. Woman: I don't want to say that seemed easy because I think that would jinx it. So rather than gloat, I'm just going to beat the crap out of you before you can manage to get out of there. - She pulls out a bar and proceeds to bash him in his abdomen. He tries to cover up, but each time the woman knocks his hands out of the way. Arnell attempts to kick her away. One kick lands in her stomach. She recovers and gives Arnell a nasty look. She leaps up into the air and lands with her feet on his ribs. She then takes the bar and takes a hard hit to his left leg. Arnell screams out in pain. EunJin: Huh? - EunJin hears the scream and looks around. She continues to run down the street looking around for Arnell. While looking up in the air, she bumps into someone and the two fall down. EunJin: Oh...I'm so sorry, Edwin. Edwin: Ooh...that okay. Are you hurt? - He gets up and helps EunJin to her feet. He then picks up the briefcase and hands it over to her. EunJin: Thanks. I'm fine. Edwin: You must be in a rush, Lady EunJin. EunJin: You don't have to call me "Lady." I've told you that before. Edwin: It's a habit. EunJin: Anyways, I need to go. Edwin: Oh? You can't stay for a bit and chat? EunJin: Not right now. I'm trying to find Arnell. He...won't pick up his phone. Edwin: Is he mad at you or something? EunJin: Yeah, he's mad. I'm really sorry, but I have to go. - She runs a couple steps away. Edwin: Wait! You forgot your sunglasses! - She stops and turns around as Edwin catches up to him. He hands them to her. EunJin: Thanks. - She puts them on. Just then she spots a piece of technology on Edwin's roof. Edwin: Something wrong? Weren't you going to find Arnell now? EunJin: …um, yeah. - A woman with long hair and a long coat leaves the store. Edwin: Oh, did you find the card you were looking for, ma’am? Woman: No, not this time. I didn’t have time to check that much because I have an appointment to go to. I’ll stop by some other time. Thank you for your help though. Edwin: No problem. Next time I’ll help you out more. Thanks you for coming. - The woman leaves. EunJin looks at her with her shades. She finds nothing on her. She then looks up at the roof again. She looks for the technology she saw earlier, but it is not there. The shades glitch up and the technology shows up, but disappears again. Edwin: You have a small crack on your glasses. EunJin: I do? - She takes them off and sees the crack. Edwin: They must have cracked when we fell down. Sorry about that. Do you want me to buy you a new pair, Lady EunJin? EunJin: …you don’t have to. It’s okay. They’re still wearable…and keep the sun out of my eyes. - She looks away and then up again quickly to nothing. EunJin: I should go. Bye, Edwin. Edwin: Bye. Have a nice day. - EunJin runs off. Back on the roof, the woman stands a few steps away from her pained opponent. She swings her bar around a few times before pushing a button on it to make it extend. She then takes it and splits it in two separate weapons. Again, she leaps into the air and comes down with a fierce strike. - *Clang* - She looks down with a puzzled look at Arnell who has blocked with just his arm. The hit depresses a button that makes a laser come out from Arnell’s sleeve. He uses the laser blade to swipe her away and cut out of the net. He slowly gets up and struggles as his leg still hurts. The woman sees her opening and charges. She swings, as Arnell is only able to hold the sword up. The laser cuts through the bars and the woman continues to fall forward. Arnell catches her with his free arm and throws her as far as he can close to the edge of the roof. He reaches inside his jacket and holds his stomach in pain. The woman sees her second opening as she pulls out a gun. She aims, but is shot in her wrist causing her to drop the gun. She tries to move her hand, but is not able to. She staggers back a bit and is then shot in her other hand. A third shot hits one of her legs. She tries to maintain balance with her foot, but cannot as she starts to lean towards the edge of the building. Arnell drops his weapons and hobbles as fast as he can to stop her from falling off, but is too late. He watches as the woman falls over the side screaming. Arnell: Ah! Dammit… - *BANG* - Arnell looks down to see as a net catches from below the woman. The ball weight at the end of the net latches on to a nearby fire escape leaving the woman trapped and hanging. Arnell gives a sigh of relief. He looks down to see EunJin pretending to blow the smoke off her net gun. Arnell switches his communicator back on. Arnell: I am so glad to see you. EunJin: Of course you are. Come down here and I’ll make the call. Arnell: I’ll be there in a few minutes. - He walks away from the roof’s edge while putting more weight on his other leg. He picks up his weapons and places them back in his briefcase. He gives off a sigh and then enters the elevator. He leans against the wall and closes his eyes with the doors still open. - *BOOM* - A loud explosion rocks the building knocking Arnell out of the elevator. He gets up and looks around. He sees smoke coming from a building down the road. He looks down to find EunJin running off in that direction. Arnell: EunJin! Don’t go there! It may be more of Angelo’s people. EunJin: That’s what I’m afraid of. Arnell: Well…fine. I’ll catch up. - She continues running off. EunJin (T): Please, don’t let it be. Please, don’t let it be what I think it is… - EunJin’s sight is in range to see the building that was blown up. She gradually stops running and just walks in that direction with a disappointed look on her face. She stops as she joins the crowd that has formed outside. She looks amongst the people as the fire continues to build. EunJin: …Edwin! - She runs through the crowd towards the building. A man holds her back. Man: Don’t be stupid. You could injure yourself if you go in there. EunJin: No, no, no! My friend is still inside. I have to go help him. Man: No way am I letting you put yourself in danger. EunJin: No! Let me go! - The man holds her back. Just then Arnell pulls her back with him and holds on to her tight. The firefighters arrive on the scene as everyone, including EunJin and Arnell watch on. |
