I know all of us in the past have expressed ourselves saying how much we love K-Pop. Therefore, if this is sort of repetitious to you, feel free to skip this thread.

What got me the idea to start this thread, to read your opinions on what you think of male and female artists, was watching Revolution (Korean music show) yesterday. As i watched, i noticed that i would check out it's male artists more so than their female artists featured on the show. That's where your thoughts and opinion come into place, i want to know what you think of male and female Korean Pop stars.

As much as i love the ladies in K-Pop, i have yet to find any artist worth buying her album. Sure i love Baby V.O.X, Bada, SHINE, Park Ji Yoon, and J among others, but, i don't feel like wanting any of their albums no matter how much their music sounds great. One reason for this is because i feel that if i do buy any of their albums, am i buying it cause i love their music or am i buying cause i think they're hot and i am in love with them? Therefore, if i buy someone's album i want it to be cause of their music, not because of any physical attraction. So, in conclusion, female K-Pop are just pretty to look at for me.

Now, when it comes to male K-Pop stars, that's where my love for Korean music really shines, the beginning roots of why i got into K-Pop alone is because of male artists and groups like H.O.T, Seo Tai Ji, Se7eN, Shinhwa, g.o.d, YG Family, 1-Tym, and others. To me watching male artists sing, dance, rap, and rock is just awesome. And even though i don't own all the albums of all the artists i mentioned, i do buy the albums of my favorites like JTL, Kang Ta, Hee Jun, and Se7eN. Also, mainly the reason why i love a lot of these guys is because they just simply look cool to me and i buy their music because i truly want it and love it, not because i somehow am physically attracted to them...well Kang Ta is another story (lol). But, yeah, Male Korean artists are the foundation, the main reason why i love K-Pop so much.

What about you guys?

That's the nice thing about music; you can try to listen to it blind and not worry about the images. Or you could also immerse yourself into the total media package, which includes idolizing over your favorite guy/girl singer or whichever actors they put on their videos.

On a non-kpop note, I did listen to one of Celine Dion's albums (the one with Beauty and the Beast) blind for several months and really enjoyed it. Didn't even know what she looked like until she did another disney song, or was it Titanic, then was in for a shock when she didn't look like the R&B singer I was expecting.

My venture into Kpop is very similar to that. I can't tell who's been hot and who's new in town without some help like okay...ninth album, must be a veteran group/singer, well except Dong Bang Shin Ki, which is pretty obvious who their fan demographic is. In terms of buying albums, I got Wax's Best album without knowing what she looked like too!

But if the image comes first, oh well, maybe I'll get a chance to try out their album blind or just wait for enough of their videos to show up to decide whether it's a buy.

Nice imput, Angus! That's exactly why i made this thread! :)

Now, i say the male artists i like is because i truly love their music...well, if it weren't for their image as well, i maybe wouldn't had buy them. Still, i gues is easier for me to love their music since i am not phisically attracted like i would with any female artist.

Edwin, are you running a fever??

My list of albums would take a LOOOONG time to type in. Baby VoX, SES, Koyote, Jewelry, Sugar, and how many many more?? And yes I bought them. Not because they have nice photos, (they certainly do) but because of their TALENT.

Edwin, get thee to a physician, buddy. I think you're ill.

How could you not get a joke of thar, Vic? heh

And, on the record, i do see their talent, but i still feel like i can't own any of their albums. And i'm sure i sound machist (is that a word?), and i'm sorry if i offend anyone when i sort of mean female artists are not worthy of me, but this is the way i buy the music i love, in general, not just in K-Pop.

wow, EDWIN, just the way you type and express your thoughts -- AMAZING =)

i would have to agree and disagree w/ you edwin -- yes, the reason i was drawn to kpop was the male gasoos, but as time progressed, i've realized that many of the kpop music i listened to was not at all 'great' to my ears -- for example, sure, i like only 3-5 songs from shinhwa's entire album but does that mean i actually liked their music? hms, i'll like to think again =) the only true kpop music i've actually loved is H.O.T, 1TYM, and SE7EN -- that's it

i've NEVERED liked the female gasoos' singing -- to me, it was rather 'off pitched' 'didn't sound good' 'wasn't of good quality' ect. to be honest, the only songs i could bare were to listen only to the musical of the song -- not the actual song =) like you, female gasoos were not attractive as the male gasoos

BUT ORIGINALLY
