Well, over Xmas I found out my nephews got a PS2, and that got me thinking of what games are suitable for little kids, like preschool through elementary. Here's what I've figured so far.

Most sports games like Madden Football/NBA 2K3 - 2nd grader could figure out some basic plays, and other kids can play along

Soccer games - probably the best since kids just move wherever.

SSX Tricky - little kids can make it down the hill and still have fun

Pac Man World 2 - Cute E-rated storyline, but early on, it implies a lot of platforming skill so it can be frustrating. Then only the parents will be playing the game. Same with Kingdom Hearts and Scooby Doo.

DDR - getting them dancing is good, but other than the simplest Workout mode it requires too much coordination.

Nascar Thunder 2004 - NO WAY. Kids get stuck on the track too easily and oval tracks are BORING. Better to go with Mario Kart.

Pokemon - good, especially on portables.

I'm guessing Mario Party is good for all ages.

If you got any recommendations, including Nintendo, Xbox, and other consoles/portables, please share.

For the non-PS2 games, I was gonna pass those recommendations to a coworker who has a 4 year old.

yeah I saw the Ninja Turtles one; it's not bad; probably for older kids (4th grade and up). I just wonder if those movie games (spongebob, finding nemo, monsters inc) are any good. OK, this will probably date me, but I remember that the Atari
2600 had super-easy Kid-level difficulty games.

a while ago, my brother-in-law bought this game called "Ribbit King" for the PS2...for the kids 4 and 2. It's a Frolf game "frog golf", where u hafta save this planet from aliens by defeating them at Frolf...its a lil different than golf tho, in that u hit this lil platform that propels the frogs...all different kinds of 'em...to their holes.. its fun!

lemme tell ya...after the kids went to bed...me and him were goin at it with this game!!! LOL...it got ADDICTING!!!! a lil kids game!!! lol

i know Disney, Nintendo, and Cartoon Network all have games out....but ur probably gonna find more kid-friendly titles with Gamecube and GameBoy Advance....

theres also the leapster!!! i got this for my nephew this xmas...it looks like a big gameboy advance but its only educational games...

good luck!

PC games are good now. Dora and Blue's Clues, or I Spy School Days.

Anything Wii related should do the trick. But if you're talkin' PS2 that's kind of hard since i don't pay attention to game releases on the platform anymore... still, any animated movie tie in is always a good choice and i hear The Golden Compass is out right now too.

Are there really preschooler level games on the Wii? And anyone test drive them with the kids?

Wii sports is definitely a good game for pre-schoolers... just be sure wrap those wiimotes well onto their wrists or they'll hit you with trying to play tennis. haha

I got to play Guitar Hero with my nephews and nieces over the Winter holiday, and they are quite good at it, but then my daughter trashed the disc by yanking on the controller and sending the console to its doom.

So the $53.24 lesson is: Guitar Hero III bad for preschoolers, OK for elementary schoolers.

Sent the console to it's doom? You mean she broke the Wii?

Scratched the disc. The Wii was already broken so I didn't get a chance to play it.
