Hopefully, though, it would have a low bitrate for those of us that have really slow dial-up connections, though. >.< I haven't found ONE K-Pop station with a bitrate lower than 128! Let's shoot for... 38! XD |

There may be other issues as well. I'm in broadcasting, working for four radio stations, ( not counting Radio Korea) We only stream ONE station, and that is a very limited stream, for a local sports team. The reason is that EVERYONE wants royalties. Even the people who make commercials want extra money! (Yeah, like somebody in New Zealand would come over to Las Vegas to buy a Ford Distort...) So we would need to be especially careful. Also, how are we going to run this for 24/7? An automation requires a full-time PC, with a full time connection. (If we use only limited hours, that sort of makes it less of a value to people...) If you use Real audio (AVOID THIS!) they allow only four streams for free, after that, you pay and pay. Winders Media, is free, EXCEPT you have to pay for the server software (at about $5,000.00) Sorry to let the air out, but this may be a lot more of a project that we are ready for. We might want to contact either Soompi, or Dmelody and see what their experiences are. //Seoul |

Vic makes some good points. I can keep my PC operating 24/7, but I'd rather not. That may go the same for others who would be the DJs. There is also the need of variety in music. Can't have just one person always play the same songs over and over (one reason I never ever listen to American radio). Not only that, but the rate of visitors here is very drab as of late. What's the point of having a radio broadcast if there is no one here to listen to it? It would be fine to do a try out run of just doing this at select hours (night time, etc). The reason radio works well at soompi is because they have a large frequent crew of visitors and they have the sources and man power (volunteers, etc) to pull it off. I'm sure we could pull this off, but not anything big. It would be one way to attract more people here, but not if it's for a sparse amount of us. I'm all for it, but there needs to be a good handful of us regulars to contribute and pull it off. Can't leave it to a select few like David, Angelo, Vic, etc. This could also fall in the section that David started before he left about how to improve KMR. need some help with KMR everyone... |

Exactly, Angelo. Remember, we're just one click away from Radio Soompi, or Radio DMelody, so we would have to provide the same quality, or else we would look really dumb. //Seoul |

what dmelody do is having every DJ sub in for every 1 hour or 2 hours..and they're auditioning for new DJs to be in the team. it is done by ppl's convient time. since everybody live in different time zone..then they'll just sub in whenever yup,, volunteers is a big thing. if we go by what dmelody does, i'll be able to sub for at least an 1hour. oh..and they're also having a chatroom so that people can request for song and chat in there. check them out, and see how they do things: http://radio.dmelody.net/ and to join their chatroom, just send yourself an invitation to "dmelody" so yea, volunteers is definitely a big thing. who's willing to help, raise your invisible hand! nah...just reply here ^_^ |

Man...Vic has called me Angelo I don't know how many times now. I just find it funny and hope that he'd realize he used the wrong name, haha. Well, not only would volunteers be needed as DJs, but they'd have to be able to supply a large variety of music. It would be pointless to have people requesting stuff it can never be provided. Time, soureces, and person power is what we need for this to take off and fly right. |

well...as for that, it'll be hard for ppl to request things that the dj dont have. so what dmelody did was have everyone provide a winamp playlist in html file and viewers can browse through that and request their songs. a decent collection of songs is of course most perferable. i'm sure most of us have lots of mp3 collection right? ^_^ |

I sure don't. I only have a few on my PC right now that I have yet to put to cd. All I do with my mp3s is just get enought to fill a cd with them, burn it, and then get rid of them to make room on the PC, which I am dangerously low on right now. Most stuff I have are on actual cds that I bought online. So if I were to help provide songs, I would need to rip all those songs off of them first and I don't even have the space to hold them all. Stilll, we need a good maybe...5-10 DJs to rotate or to be there if substitutions are needed because one can't be there for some reason. And they need to be very reliable and have a great deal of music at their disposal. Some sites/forums actually do the DJ thing at certain scheduled times. Like they would just have their radio programming at certain peak hours when most visitors are on their site. We could always have like a 2, 3, 4 hour block or more each day and just do it that way. With the way things are around here lately, it would be kind of a waste to have the radio going around the clock. I come here a lot just to see if it's active and most the time it isn't. Maybe about 10 or less around at one time and seeing more than 5 happens very sporadically. We could perhaps put this to a vote, but I think more people would like to have this happen. I just wouldn't want the radio/DJing gigs to happen and go to a waste due to low visitations to the forum (but I am basing that on how it has been the past few weeks or so). |

I have the same problem, Angelo, except I DO have a mic. XD But, I'd hate to have to talk on it, since I have a lisp! XDD I'd love to help, but dial-up connection sucks... x_x I think I'm going fast when I hit 5.01 (which never happens, I must add). |
