Yeah, Arnell's da man! Like i told him, my favorite performance from the Shinhwa song ("A Perfect Man", lot of irony there isn't it? lol) was the one before the New Year's Eve party, the one where they're shot from the front. However, i'm sure it must've hurt when he had to do the jump in the air and the fall doing a split (lol). Nah, i know it didn't hurt, sure looks like it. I thought he did a pretty good job at doing the jump/fall split, though.

BUT! I want to see Arnell freestyle! I'll die happily once i see that! Oh, well, maybe once he gets to do his Revolution thing. :)

Oh, and, i could answer some of your questions, lady Valerie, but i thought i let to the man himself to handle.

Thanks to both Val and Edwin. I'm glad both of you enjoyed it. Angelo has seen all that stuff also so I know he liked it as well. Now to answer your questions.

Well, maybe telling what each thing was would answer your questions.

1. The three guys on stage - 2001
This was during an election for Vietnamese President/Representative of Houston. My friend asked me if I could peform and help around for that. The guys were Wil (the black guy who sadly is not a friend anymore), Andrew (the Vietnamese guy), and me. We actually did 6 performances that day when we were only to do 2. We did "The Heat Is On" from Bust A Groove/Move, then "Pop" from NSYNC, and "Git It Up" by HOT. We did two of each (Wil wasn't in the repeats though). But you only see the first performances of "Pop" and "Git It Up" due to the camerman's battery life and film life.

2. The one where I'm a host - 2002
This was my entry for Revolution's Music Video Contest. Basically, a mock version of their show. Actually, there was a bit of MVH thrown in there (me sitting) for the MVH fans. The food being delivered to me is an inside joke of how the host at the time (SooJin) was eating food during some of the shows. Fans of the show here know what I mean.
The part where I announce winners was part of the Revolution thing. They used to give out prizes during the show. Angelo was one of the "winners."
The dances there was "Git It Up" again, but with revised steps with the same guys (done in an empty lot next to my home). And then there's "Enter The Dragon" by JTL (one of our living rooms in my home). I didn't really like my performances (solo) of that since I had to quickly learn what I can and fill in the rest just to have more stuff on the video to send.
And at the end were what I thought were our not so good takes of the performances. Kind of like NGs or extras. I usually don't listen to this part because I don't like listenting to myself in it. It's one of those things. Like listening to a recording of yourself and not liking how you sound.

3. The dance practices - 2003
During this time I had 2 groups I was working with. Even though I have recordings of both dance practices, by request of the other group, I haven't given that footage out.
Anyways, this group of 5, I dubbed us as CAPAS.

C - Chamal - The tall Hispanic guy who does the splits thing.
A - Arnell - ...ME!
P - Phoebe - The Chinese girl with short hair.
A - Andrew - The Vietnamese guy from before
S - Sandia - The Chinese girl with long hair.

Chamal and Phoebe are a couple as well as Andrew and Sandia. We also dubbed the girls the Taiwanese Twins since they're both from there. This dance practice was the final day before our first performance. It's a little taste of how I try to conduct these practices.
Note - The practices with my other group was different. The CAPAS was for fun. The other was for competition.

4. The next two performances - 2003 & 2004
Okay. We obviously did Shinhwa's "Perfect Man." The first performance was at a friend's Christmas party. The second was a New Year's party at my place. I thought the Christmas one was better because we didn't practice from then to the New Year's party. At first we didn't plan to do the second dance, but decided to after our first performance. Plus there's more mistakes in the second one because of lack of practice.

5. The Vietnamese performances - 2004.04.02
My second group. Three years ago, my friend from highschool asked me to help her and her friends with dances. This was the same friend who asked me to perform during the Vietnamese election event. When I frist worked with them, I taught them Park JiYoon's "Adult Ceremony." Didn't record any of that. Wish I did. They were only a group of 6 this year. The second year I only helped them with a dance they made themselves and choreographed a small chair sequence I did with 3 other guys. The group of girls this time was 10 with only 3 returning from the previous year. Again, didn't record.
And now the third year, they gave me the choice of picking what to teach them. So I chose "Perfect Man" since I recently learned it. It was pretty convenient that I taught the CAPAS the same thing also. We gradually tacked on other dances because we needed to fill more time. That's where they wanted to add a traditional dance and Hyori's "10 Minutes." We practiced all of that since Novemeber. Then we needed a second act. That's where the song and dance came in. The song was "Dung Hoai Nhi A Nhe" by Bao Hahn. The traditional song was also Bao Hahn. That dance I made up from scratch only borrowing a few moves. We had less time for this. Only a couple of months to practice this one while continuing our other act.
Okay. The performances you see are during a VSA Cultural Show. VSA - Vietnamese Students Association (who I am an honorary member of for 3 years now, honorary because I can't officially joins because I don't go to their college). We actually did the song second, but I put that first because I liked our first act better. The dancers for the song were Kaori, Jessica, AnnA, and Belinda. Susan was the singer and I was also there to dance and do my part (although me checking them out as part of the act wasn't caught...that's why you only see me run across the stage). And of course there's our 3 dances in one: the traditional one with umbrellas, "Perfect Man", and "10 Minutes." Now here is who everyone is.

-Guys-
1. Me
2. Alan - The guy with his hair tied back, did "Perfect Man"
3. David - The guy with glasses, did "Perfect Man"
4. Johnathan - The guy with short hair, came in for the cha-cha dance
5. Steven - The guy with shaved hair, came in for the cha-cha dance
*all other guys are Vietnamese

-Girls-
1. Olivia - came in for "10 Minutes"
2. MyMy - yellow ao dai (I think I'm spelling that right)
3. Kaori - green ao dai
4. Susan - blue ao dai, and singer for other act
5. Jessica - red ao dai, darker skin
6. AnnA - pink ao dai (hard to distinguish from red and pink), lighter skin
7. Belinda - purple ao dai (who I refer to as Princess)

Anyways, we got 4th out of 6. Of course us doing Korean songs for a Vietnamese event didn't help. Plus it's usually the fobbier the act, the higher your chances of winning, but whatever.

And that's all that is recorded. I did miss the extra performance the girls did for a talent show at their college. They always perform for the VSA Cultural Show and the talent show at their college. They did the same dance except the replaced "Perfect Man" with Usher's "Yeah." They also changed the moves to make it more hip-hop and shortened the traditional dance. The dance was a whole lot sexier. I WISH I RECORDED IT. Stupid me having to return the camera...
Well, they won 2nd in the Large Group category. That was a great win because all the time I was with them, we never won. We didn't expect to win either, so we were all surprised and extremely happy for it.

So you can actually see how my dancing has evolved over the years somewhat.

And finally...

Yeah, baby. You got a great body, too. Imagine what our two great looking bodies can do together.
Sorry for that, haha. You give me material to work with. Trust me, I could say so much more, but I won't. Bad, Arnell.
Thanks for the compliment and I hope your finals went well.

And that's all. And this is a long freakin' post. But if there's anything more that you or anyone else wants to ask or maybe make comments, feel free to.

Nah, not "vietnamized." I may hang around them a lot, but I don't pick up much. I know of how it is in some Vietnamese families though. I hear and know of that a lot.
And I know very little Vietnamese:
"Hi, Grandma, Mom, Dad, I love you (learned that one when I had a viet girlfriend)"
That's about it.

Well, what I saw was good looking. Instead of just considering what was missing in the video, how about you show me? Haha.
Man...why do I get this way online...meh. Show me, haha!

Oh and I forgot to mention that the dances we used aren't straight copies of Shinhwa and Hyori. Most of it is, but we made a few changes. And thanks for the comments, Alyssa. I'm eating. You can tell by how I'm still alive and typing, haha.

We're talking about a tape full of me dancing. Since I have no way to put it online, I send people tapes. Val was the last one to get the stuff.
I was explaining what was on the tape to her and for others who have some or all my stuff.
You won't find the clips here. Sorry. Like I said, I have no way to put it online.

Thanks, Angelo. I would like to dance with someone like Val. Could come up with some cool dance to do together. Too bad she's so far away. I've always looked for one girl to be a part-time/permanent dance partner. None of the ones I've worked with ever have time.
Oh well.
That may change this summer though. Maybe I'll get a chance to dance with Sophia...you know what, I'll make sure that happens.

And here i thought me, my poetry, and my sexy good looks were the only chick magnet around here...guess i understimated you, Arnell! lol It's all good, though.

Sorry to hear Wil is no longer a friend of yours, out of Andrew and Wil, liked Wil's delivery more. Andrew's pretty good though.

Oh and, how come Chamal is the one doing this split? I mean, he's the biggest and heaviest (no offense), so i would assume someone smaller and thinner like you Arnell would fit that part. Also, i see Chamal and Andrew finishing the "A Perfect Man" performance with their hands on their behind their back, but i don't see you doing that, did you have it planned like that?

Wil was never fully into it. Never had his focus and heart into performing. Andrew is a better dancer than him. Guess I know that because I'm around them.

Chamal is a martial artist. He's got a black belt. I asked if he could do something during that one part in the song because when Shinhwa does it, they have HyeSung do a little spin kick thing (Edwin, if you watch the concert I sent you in that last tape, you'll see it). I left it open for him to do whatever he decided. That's why during our last practice when you see me do the splits in the air, it's funny.

The finish was planned that way. If you watch, their hands are opposite/mirrored. Also note that Phoebe and Sandia are mirrored of each other. We didn't really know what I should do except it should be similar to the guys, but different from everyone since I was in the middle. That's why I end up slapping the ground in the end.

Anymore questions or comments? Even from others that have my old stuff only like Madison, Christine, Vic, and Gloria. I like actually getting a chance to talk about this since people are interested.

Oh well, anyone would be great. If I wanted to really test myself I'd join the guy groups.
But for more selfish reasons, I'd like to dance with the girls. Actually, sonme of the girl dances are hard to do also, so it would still be a challenge. Obviously BabyVoX is at the top of my list. BoA is a great dancer so collaborating with her would be fun. Someone like Hyori would be...yummy, haha.

But really anyone would be cool. Like if I could get just one person to do special collaborations with or do things full time with, I'd be happy with that.
Breaking out on my own would be fine, but there's always more of an impact with more people. Maybe the Korean girl I'm to work with can dance well also.

I was wondering Arnell, is there a level you feel as dancer you haven't reached yet? Like you feel you could go further, just haven't tried?

Oh, and, man, if i ever saw you and WooHyuk together...that be AWESOME! That be so cool! It be like "You two are off tha hook!".

Yeah, I know there are levels I have yet to reach as a dancer. I don't even define my style. If anything, it's more pop than anything. Although lately I'm trying for a more hip-hop feel. I just do whatever feels right.

If anything, I would like to pick up in stuff like ballroom/slow dancing. I've tried before, but I have troubles doing it sometimes. Plus learning stuff like the Hispanic dances (the names escape me as of now). Dances that couples do. Those dances.
I have an aunt and uncle who do those dances. They've even won competitions before and whenever we have parties, they'll always be on the dance floor. But for me to do this stuff, I need a partner, and of course I never do.

I was dancing last night at my cousin's graduation party and became the center of attention again. There was even a song where the guy told you what to do and I ended up leading everyone in it. You would've seen nothing but freestyle there, Edwin.

Dancing with WooHyuk would rule. I would be hearing bells though because he'd be taking me to school. He'd be a great teacher to learn from though.
