Asia In Love with Seven

2003/07/19

Like his name that symbolizes "good luck," Korean pop singer Seven, recently became a lucky guy in Thailand as well as in Hong Kong, China and Taiwan. Seven, who debuted this year, has solidified his reputation on the homefront as a poster boy for local teenagers. Buoyed by his success here, the 20-year-old young pop star is trying to advance into other Asian entertainment markets. And his attempts have been fruitful. His first album, "Just Listen," sold like hot cakes in China, Taiwan and Hong Kong. And according to the Bangkok Post, Seven is a huge hit there as well. The Bangkok paper recently ran a story on the so-called "Seven syndrome," introducing Seven as Korea's newest R&B superstar, who sold 50,000 copies of his first album, 'Just Listen,' in one week in Thailand alone. That's no easy task. Seven's album was released in China last month and reportedly sold over 80,000 copies. The singer plans to release his first single album in Japan in February and debut in the U.S. market through EMI.

ooh.... debut into US? >__< I don't think...so. Just because his english isn't that good yet.... I mean, it's really good for.... him, but I mean...I can't understand some things in his english version songs because he's kinda fobby.... I think he should wait a few years and practice his english....

but I don't really want him to debut here, because.... well.... he's sorta ours, right? I mean I want him (and all the gasoos) to be sucessful, but if you bring them to the US, it's like...they're not really OUR secret singer.... OURS..... does it make sense? Maybe... like... I mean if he debuted here and I was like... liked him... people think you're just following the crowd on he new asian singer.... it sorta irks me... I'd rather see him be successful in Asia.... Europe..... everywhere.... but here..... =/
