Korea's hottest R&B pop stars - Big Mama, PSY, Wheesung, Teddy, Perry and Jinu - all are guests on a newcomer's album. Lexy, a.k.a. Hwang Hyo Sook, released her debut, "Lexury", this month with the help of her famous friends. She premiered her image with a "bad girl" song, "Novice", featuring PSY singing, "with no passion, and no fun, now days all guys are all the same".

"PSY heard my album, and he said it was 'hot'. So he called me, as a friend, saying how he wanted to be involved with the album. It's the first music video appearance that he's made for another artist," Hwang said.

Hwang, 25, began as a rapper at the age of 19. Though it was a hobby, she wasn't aware of her own talent.

"I really didn't know that I could rap. But I was in an audition before and the panel asked me if I could rap," Hwang said. "So I rapped on other artists' albums in the beginning of my career."

In 1996, Hwang was months into her studies at Maryland University, when she received a phone call from a friend, urging her to return to Seoul to sign a record deal. Following her lifelong dream, Hwang packed up her schoolbooks and returned. Her first project wasn't a success at the start, but Hwang knew her time would come. Now, a member of YG Entertainment's family of R&B stars, Lexy is here to stay.

Her stage and album name comes from combining the words "luxury" and "sexy": her alter-ego, she said. Hwang admits, however, the name was also inspired by her favorite set of wheels - Lexus.

"I don't know if I am really sexy, but I guess it's accurate if my boyfriend calls me sexy," Hwang smiled.

The album is a reflection of Hwang's multiple personalities-a collection of 17 songs, each with a different feel and sound. "I wanted to make each song different on this album. For all 17 songs, my voice is changes, and the mood is different. I want to show every side of my persona, from cute, serious, or sexy," Hwang explained.
