Three big names of Korea's entertainment industry were arrested. 2003/07/19 Three big names of Korea's entertainment industry were arrested Wednesday on charges of embezzlement, tax evasion and bribery while in office. 51-year-old Lee Su-man, the majority shareholder of SM Entertainment, 47-year-old Seo Se-won, a celebrated comedian and manager of Seo Se-Won Production, and 42-year-old Kim Kwang-soo, the majority shareholder of GM Entertainment, were imprisoned Wednesday with the court predicting stern punishment. The three men wielded great influence in the local entertainment industry. Lee has been called a "star producer" with many of his acts, including H.O.T, S.E.S, Shinhwa and BoA rising to stardom. Seo also has been a leading figure in the local entertainment business, producing the 2001 hit movie, "My Wife is a Gangster." Lee Soo-man is alleged of helping himself to over 1 billion won of the company funds in 1999. Seo is charged with offering 8 million won in bribes to TV producers to publicize his movie and promote the entertainers managed by his company. Kim is alleged to have usurped over 4.6 billion won of company money for his personal use. URL: http://rki.kbs.co.kr/MTrap/News/NewsView.a...mbr=612&iPage=1 //Seoul Comments: wooHoo!! Yeah, I cried crocodile tears over this story too, Arnell. The second guy named apparently had a lot to do with a movie called "My Wife is a Gangster", when in reality SHE should have made a file called "My Dork is a Gangster"..... Ah well. All the news that's fit to punt! //Seoul |

Yeah, I guess once you start making LOTS of money, you can never have enough. Sort of nice to see that all the crooks aren't in the US... I feel sort of bad that I bought so many SM Engertainment CDs... //Seoul |
