Pop singer Yoo Seung Jun is set to restart his stalled music career in the United States after his efforts to come back to the stage in his motherland were effectively thwarted by an entry ban imposed by the Justice Ministry.

Yoo will produce one or two dance songs in English with a local black rapper in duet form for his American debut, according to his management company Westside Media. Shooting for the music video began Wednesday with a budget of $500,000, the management company added.

The government banned Yoo from entering Korea last February when suspicions arose that he had intentionally dodged military service by renouncing his Korean citizenship and obtaining U.S. citizenship instead.

Yoo's endeavors to make a domestic comeback were dealt a blow in July when the National Human Rights Commission ruled that the entry ban imposed on him did not violate the Constitution since the government has the right to decide whether to allow a foreign citizen to enter the country.

Yoo had wanted to revive his activities in Korea before venturing overseas but now has made up his mind to test his luck in the United States, Westside Media said. He was allowed a special three-day visit to attend the funeral of his fiancee's father in June, the only time he has been permitted to set foot in Korea since becoming a naturalized U.S. citizen.
