| Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit. Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own. In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins. There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free. Create a character now! If you're already a member, you can log into your account below: |

Aether Draka stood upon the hill looking down on what had once been the wonderful city of Taras. It was the first city she had ever been to in Imythess and was where she had learned how to be a Shadowdancer. She had learned the basics for summoning in the library and was here for it's fall, her guild being fooled into releasing someone's army, whoever that dark being was, on the trade city as a distraction while he stole the power of Imythess' Gods and Goddess'. Now, now AD was ready to try and take the city back from the rouge demons, thieves, and who knew what else. She was going to clear them out. Bit by bit if needed, or more drastically if called for. She looked back behind her to see who all was going to be joining her for this venture. The ones she saw first were those who had first spurred her into action. The young boy and girl who had once called this place home. Taras had been a thriving port city. Her plan was to see if she could give it back at least a little of the city to it's people. Steal it back from rogues... Not everyone was here yet though. She would wait a bit longer here on the hill. |

Nicodemus strode up the hill, followed closely by his golems, the eight foot Samuel and the shorter but much bulkier Caine. Nicodemus raised a hand, pausing the golems in their tracks, and approached AD in long, smooth strides. He made no move to hide his nature, the auras rolling off of him. Leaning on his staff, the tall, gangly demon looked over the ruins of Taras. “I remember the day Taras fell.” He said no more, leaving it at that. He had some small interest in Taras flourishing once more, helping to raise the once proud city, reduced to rubble and refugees. “Greetings, Aether. I'm not here in an official capacity. You've been kind to me in the past, and you remain a fair leader of the Divschatten. I wish to lend a hand however I may.” The demon bowed lightly, fist clenching over the wooden staff. It gave a shiver, pins and needles poking at his arm in anticipation. The aged man drew free an orb of black crystal, streaks of silvery orange whirling in its depths. He shifted it into the crook of his elbow, holding it close to his side. Cain shifted his weight, mouth opening in his belly. It closed and opened idly, seeming eager. |

The two children shifted uneasily as the demon approached. They felt themselves able to fight, and they were both older then AD when she had learned. Both had ability, but nether had skill, yet. AD smiled warmly at Nick, welcoming him. "If the guild had managed to stay together, it might have become our city." AD said softly and mostly to herself, not blaming him for leaving when he did. The fall of Taras had scattered much of the guild before she had taken up leadership. With no leader to keep them together, the demons had went on to their own devices. Pity. Though AD had not seen the city for what it could have been until it was too late. "Feel free to collect any parts for your creations. I have a few more to wait for as of yet. Have you had a chance to look over the area yet?" AD asked Nicodemus. She didn't want to make him feel tied down to her in this affair after all. She needed all the allies she could get. Edit: ((Hollis, the Divshatten, and anyone else who likes the idea can join this topic ^^ )) |

Nicodemus nodded to the children, smiling as reassuringly as he could, though it was likely a hopeless endeavor. Shrugging, the demon faced Aether Draka once more. “And great we would have been. A pity we’ve fallen apart since. If it is any comfort. I still consider myself partially loyal to the Divschatten. You realize I cannot give my full support at all times, due to my other responsibilities and my post in another guild. But if you wished assistance, I could always lend a hand. If you wanted to attempt to bring the guild back together, perhaps.” The demon had turned to face the city as he spoke, looking grim. Taras would prove a most excellent post for any who held it. Its location at the water’s edge, and the roads that crossed through, made it an ideal center of trade and commerce. Whoever held it had a great deal of power over the workings of Imythess. He would assist in its cleansing. “I have a great stockpile of parts, and little use for them at the moment. Though, I wouldn’t object to several pair of eyes. It’s about time I started a new project.” Nicodemus smiled Shadows crawled up his feet and crept over his tall frame, dissipating into nothing once it had covered him entirely. Nicodemus had Stepped into the fringe of the city below, picking among the rubble with an idle interest, awaiting the beginning of the Cleansing. |

Melmoth trudged down the dusty road to Taras, following a short ways behind the girl he was accompanying to Taras. He made for a sorry sight, tattered old clothes turned a mottled brown from the dirt and grime of far too many days unwashed and on the road. His dirt caked hair hung limp in the unimpressive breeze of the moment. The sword hanging at his side, however, was polished to a neat shine, promising razor sharpness and marking him as something other than just another wandering beggar or refugee. Unfortunately, he felt little better than the Refugees of Taras must have felt after their city had fallen. He had, for his own reasons, attempted to save the city. It was of no use, in the end, of course... Still, he'd been out of things for an as yet unknown amount of time, and had hoped the city had been reclaimed and rebuilt. Finding that it had been left to rot had been hard on him, as had learning Imythess' center of power was still that damned island of a city, Cascadia. The power and beauty of Taras was little more than memories of the dead, and for that he truly regretted that night. Fortunately, his trip didn't seem to be completely in vain. Up on a hill not far ahead, he could spy a humanoid figure. He'd bet gold that was AD, or someone in her party. (ooc - AD asked me in. I think. )(ooc2 - OH GOD TIME PARADOX, YOU SAW NOTHING) Edited by Melmoth, Fri Jul 30, 2010 7:03 am.

Hollis had heard the stories of the fall of Taras, but had yet to see it. Her mother, leaving among the humans, had not said anything of the truth of Hollis' being... Thinking that it was better to keep it to herself. Knowing to herself, that if Hollis found it all out, that her mother would be left alone, with the humans... She might have gone back to the elves, but why, when you have a child to raise, right? No quite... But in the end, Hollis found all that she needed to know. Not long after finding what she was, Hollis decided that she should set out and find her sister, Aether Draka... But she hadn't any idea where to look. It was in a cave, looking for a drake Of all things.. Hollis had thought at the time to herself, in hopes not letting her cursed cat hear her. that she had finally found her sister... Now, Aether needed Hollis' help in reclaiming Taras from the Demons that had taken it in the first place. Aether Draka needed help, and though she have only known that AD was her sister for a short time, she know that she had to... But to face the things that had haunted her dreams for many days, it seemed to soon... AD trusts them, that should be enough for you, right? But, it didn't seem enough, for some reason, in the eyes that had grown up under the watchful eyes of her mother... She would do what she could though, even if it meant helping some of the things of the worst nightmares that Hollis had ever had. She would help though... She had to. She said that she would, and well. After all, AD was the head of the demon guild in the first place... What is there to be scared of? As Hollis came to a hill, she saw what the Demons of another time had done the trading City. Hollis saw that the City was in bad conditions, worst then she had thought that they would be in. There was... nothing... just crumbs of a City, and a lot of them, to. There where some buildings, but there wasn't much of them standing. In the once beautiful City, Hollis saw some movement, but she wasn't sure if it was a bad Demon, or what, so she left it be... The once beautiful City of Taras, torn to bits by Beasts of Daiblo... There are good ones in the world, and those are the ones that I well be working with... the ones that AD has made friends with... Thought Hollis. And she would be, but how many, she didn't know... Maybe there would be more then she had asked for. Maybe there wouldn't be... Who knows... As she found where AD was supposed to be on, she found what she was looking for, just not quit what she was looking for... The one that was there looked much nicer then the ones of her dreams... Well, maybe nicer isn't the right word, but he didn't look like the ones that she had dreamed of... As Hollis saw that there where some others, not much younger then she was Or, maybe they are older... Hollis didn't know, but she didn't care right now... About 5 feet away from the kids, was AD... She looked like she was talking with the Demon... Hollis heard part of the conversation as she came closer to her sister"...wouldn’t object to several pair of eyes. It’s about time I started a new project." Hollis heard the other demon say... New eyes? New Project?? I don't want to know Hollis thought... "Should I say hello, or wait until she is done talking?" Hollis said to herself as she came closer to AD and the other Demon... What would Hollis say? Hollis shook her head, and that made her two necklaces that she has never taken off, make noise.. |

As Nicodemus vanished into the shadows, AD heard another noise and turned. She saw Hollis and Melmoth not far away. She gave them both a welcoming smile before stepping forward to embrace Hollis. "Sis, I'm glad you decided to come!" she took a step back and continued with, "I think we have enough here to find ourselves a good place to use as a base. I was thinking we could start with the arena. It still has a lear spot in the middle and most of the lower levels are still intact." AD let her gaze fall over what had once been a great city. She had liked it for the most part. It had it's bad parts, like people chasing friends of her about with torches and pitchforks. That was however easy enough to stop. Fear was a good way to keep ignorant people out of the situations they don't understand and thus should not be a part of. So called innocents bugged AD very much. After all, AD had been kept from the truth for too long in her own life. If they were too afraid of the truth, they could just stay away. She didn't need any ignorant fools in her life. |

Melmoth gave a awkward wave as Hollis and AD embraced. So they were related. Surprises abound. He had more important things on his mind, however. Sister or not, the Divschatten was a secret society, and he had to get permission before he blew their cover in front of the girl. He didn't know about AD, but she might not want her sister to know she led a guild of demons and the like. Twisting the shadows inside AD's ears, Melmoth quietly asked, "How far can I go in front of her? Does she know of the Divschatten? Can I take this blasted illusion down?" The whole deception business, despite the illusion he wore most everywhere, was not his thing. It grated on him to fend off questions and keep such basic things as what he was a secret. Once that was settled, he was ready to fight, one way or the other. He'd tell his name, probably figure out the girl's, there would be demons killed, and everyone would go home bloody, exhausted, and most of all, happy. Or scarred for life, missing limbs, or dead. (ooc - A thousand curses on time paradoxes and long running deceptions. )

"Your really slow" a voice commented from the roof of a ruined building, Alice sat there with one leg over the other. Her long flowing hair moved in the wind and as always she was perfect, she was having a small smirke on the visage and did not seem at all surprised to have people there. "How many times have I not been in this place, charming to be true. Yes very charming" she casually jumped down from the roof and landed on the ground, the skirt of her velvet dress softly gathered around her feet. The dark lady curiously examined the people present in the area, how charming it was. "So I get you have a very good excuse for not calling on me sweetie?" she asked and the eyes stopped at Aether when she said this, unlike many of the others she never called her AD. "I'm hurt, did not even get a little letter to congratulate me when I gave birth." she placed one hand on her forehead and sighed deeply. "How can you do this to me darling?" ((OOC: Nick is retired now, so feel free to ignore his posts. Also Hollis is on vacation for a week and will not be posting until she gats back. Feel free to post in her absents. )) Aether Draka grinned at Melmoth. "My sister is debating joining the Divshatten. She was a bit unsure, so I invited her on this venture to see what we are made of. She expects demons, so don't disappoint her." With that done, AD started into the city. That was when she saw Alice. "Oh, I sent imps to inform everyone. I shall have to be rid of the one sent to you!" Then AD paused, realizing what Alice had just said. A look of shock and surprise crossed her features. "Birth? You had a baby?! Really?" Distracted from her reason for being here at the news of her 2ed having a child. Of course, AD knew next to nothing about childbirth or pregnancy, so it really was no surprise she was out of the loop. She was curious of course, but she had never known her own mother and was more inclined to fighting and snooping about then she was to any form of family life. |

Alice examined the woman and watched her reaction to what the sorceress had just said, then she smiled a little and gave a small nod before she replied anything with words. "Yes I have, a little baby boy." she explained slowly and gave a small rock a kick. "His name is Azrael, he have green hair and is the most adorable little thing you ever layd eyes on." she sighed softly and ran a hand thought her hair. |

Melmoth shrugged, glanced at AD's sister, and turned his ring. His illusory skin flashed reflective silver, held for a moment, and then began receding from his extremities, speeding up as the process went on. The final place to remain silver was his left hand, and finally silver signet ring devoured the illusion there as well. He stood, red from head to toe, claws and fangs glowing like embers, as a demon. Unfinished, though, he flexed his mind, igniting the air behind him into massive wings of flame, which he curled around himself, cloaking him as he once had with his wings of flesh. Through it all, he did his best to ignore Alice. She was some breed of succubus infused, the names of which he never really kept track of. Despite this, she made him uncomfortable. Perhaps it was the fact that she was a sort of seducer, but more likely it was the talk of babies. Melmoth did not like the things. He had had one a long time ago, and the fact that he had been forced to leave it still hurt, despite the many years between then and now. It was most likely dead by now, but still it weighed upon his mind, that possibility that he still had descendants somewhere. You do, and you know it. The names have changed a bit, but they're out there. You even have that book in the library th- Melmoth violently shoved Xrtchwdg out of his mind, his anger flaring, and almost threatening to make him lose his control. Yes, he had had a book in the depths of the library where he had tried to catalog his relatives. He had relatives all over the place, but descendants, that was a different story. He had discovered several lines that might be his, but none were confirmed, and hopefully never would be. They were all a threat to him, though a highly indirect one. Unintended coldness bled through into his speech, "I'm as ready as can be. We do this in teams, split up, or in one big group?" |

Hollis hugged her sister back, worrying more and more about how the numbers well stand when all the others get here... Well we have enough people/demon/ whatever else comes to take back Taras Thought Hollis... and though it seemed weird, Hollis was really worried that there wouldn't be enough Demons to help take back Taras Hollis watched Erolam became a demon. It was nice to see what his wings looked like in the light! A women came down off of a building then. It seemed that AD know this women. They where talking about a new baby. It looked like AD didn't know that this women had a baby. And that they had known each other for a while. Hollis hadn't been around this many people for a while. And she wasn't as comfortable knowing that Eorlam was demon... Looks like I have been traveling with a demon, while worrying about meeting one... When I knew one already!! As Hollis thought this, she smacked herself on the forehead. Hollis nodded at the new women. She then went to stand behind AD, and said "I think that we should split into two groups, or stay in one big group." She then looked at AD, to see if her idea was any good... and saw that AD was still detracted by the new women... |

AD grinned at Alice, glad to hear a bit about what had been happening with her. "We will talk more once we have a footing in Teras." AD promise Alice and looked over at Melmoth, then at her sister. "I think we should head to what remains of the arena and the hospice. It has a strong foundation and should be the easiest place to clear out and set up. I have a few lesser demons scouting out the area and a pair of not so lesser one's who cleaned it out." Aether Draka had sent them ahead before she had told anyone to meet her here. She motioned to the brother and sister who had once called Teras home. "These two will be keeping the base working and protected when we go out. They knew the citty well before it's fall and may be of more assistance then they seem." She grinned at them and the girl grinned back, but the boy seemed uneasy. "I'm takeing these two through the streets. If you all wish to come with, feel free. If you would rather fly," she looked from Hollis to Melmoth, "It would be helpful to know if there are any groups laying in wait." She then motioned for whoever was coming with her to do so and started on her way through the city. As she went she heard Turin's voice in her head. "I've been scouting. Why did you say they could?" She didn't bother answering. The fact that others could fly at will made her sad still. She couldn't do that. She couldn't fly even when she had wings unless she let her celestial side take over. It knew how to fly while she remained ignorant. She hadn't known she had wings for most of her life though and in a way it was worse to know she had wings, but couldn't fly, then not having wings at all. |

Considering his talents, Melmoth decided to stick on the ground, for now at least. "I'm more useful on the ground. Unless we encounter flying enemies, I can't do much up there." He drew his shining sword Fate from its scabbard, and extended it straight out, demonstrating the range limitation of his attack style. Holding Fate loosely, but still at the ready, he followed cautiously after AD. The crumbling buildings and wreckage all throughout the city made him nervous. There were plenty of places to hide, and any could hold an ambush. Considering the fact that some buildings still stood two stories or taller, and basements, tunnels, sewers and the like had existed, they'd have to watch out for attacks from above and below, as well as around them. This is going to be a real pain if the inhabitants get organized. We could spend ages digging demons out of this place one house at a time, buying each foot with blood. Demon blood, hopefully. Melmoth looked his companions over again. They didn't have the numbers to play that game for long. AD with her summoning magic could be a great help, but he didn't think she could keep it up all day. As much as he hated to admit it, regardless of the actual numbers they faced, they'd probably have to call in a lot of people to help search the place. He suspected there were just too many places for demons to retreat to for the few of them to cover everything. "I suppose burning the place to the ground isn't an option, is it? Not that it would kill everything, but it would certainly cut down on the number of places for enemies to hide. Above ground, at least. I have no idea what copious amounts of hellfire would do to the sewers, or if it would even work down there." But no, of course he couldn't burn it all down. Most of Taras was going to have to be leveled and rebuilt in order for people to move back in, but... That damned library again. Can't have the knowledge in there be destroyed, and my hellfire is not so selective that it would survive. |
