Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own.

In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins.

There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free.

Brant opened his eyes only to see another shape appear in front of them. Without even the slightest clue as to what was going on he knew he only had one real option, and that was to fire another arrow, this time at the new target. The new target was some weird form of half human half doll thing. In all honesty it creeped him out beyond comparison, but now was not the time to show anything other than pure focus.

He aimed for the head, unfortunately his aim was a bit off as a sweat drop fell into his eye at the exact wrong time, the arrow flew off to the side slightly to the left of the new target, going almost straight down the middle in between the first and second target. Brant cursed and reached for another arrow, only to find that he had only a few left.

Once it got closer, it became clear that the doll creature was holding a sword; it was old, chipped and rusted. It did, however, add to the overall strange and creepy factor of the creature. And whilst it appeared to act no different than a normal human, it did not speak, nor did it make any gestures; it simply continued to move forward at the two; its sword hanging loosely from a single hand. It seemed fixated on the green-haired vampire, and showed little interest in the human.

Nero had been waiting for Brant to fire for a second time before he was going to get involved in the combat. He wanted to let the boy at least get an accurate chance to hit this creature without the added worry of having the vampire move in his line of fire and subsequently take a hit. But, when the boy missed for some unexplicable reason, the vampire could wait no longer. With an unintelligable muttering of something to Brant; which included something about 'poor shot', he charged at the doll-creature. The doll was ready, however, and met Nero's blade with its own. The clang of steel upon steel happening as it did so.

The illusion of the woman, oddly enough, simply faded away once Brant missed the second shot. Instead, there came a muffled noise; akin to a bird chirping consistently. Before he knew it, a human, on all fours, came scuttling at Brant very quickly. It had only one eye in the centre of its head, and instead of a lower jaw, it had a knife there; matching the two held in its hand.

"Er, I. Can. See that thing!" Nero grunted at the man; his speech tying in with the swordplay going on between him and the doll creature.

As the first image dissipated into nothingness Brant drew the bowstring back and prepared to fire an arrow at whatever the thing that Nero was fighting was, however a new shape scuttled out of the darkness quickly. Brant fired an arrow but the creature moved far to fast, in mere seconds it was upon him.

Brant drew another arrow but before he could place in on the bowstring the creature jumped into the air, having no other option Brant blocked the creatures attack using his bow. The attack knocked the bow from his had sending it flying into the darkness.

The creature knocked Brant to the ground, landing on top of him preparing to jab it's dagger-chin into his neck and deal the killing blow. However Brant still had an arrow in his hand and without thinking used it as a dagger, stabbing it into the creatures eye and throwing him off of himself.

The show that Nero and the weird doll man thing were displaying was rather the spectacle to watch, had anyone actually been there to see it. The display of swordsmanship on both sides was rather skilled; and they were at an even level to one another; one blow being parried, and then the counterattack further being parried. The two didn't seem to be gaining a foothold on each other either way; and even when one tried to do something like a feint or false attack, the opponent had already judged it.

As for the battle between the boy and the chinny bladey thing, the arrow to the creature's eye was accompanied by a loud, piercing scream; almost identical to the ones which the two had heard earlier on in the tunnel. Yet, due to it being so close to the boy, it was both very painful and deafening to him. Once the creature was tossed aside, where it writhed in pain for a few moments, Brant would find a migraine approaching, as well as a loud, high pitched buzz in his ears...

The creature however, didn't take long in waiting, and flung itself at Brant again for a second time.

Brant closed his eyes and winced in pain as another high pitched screeching noise erupted from the weird creature, Brant would have covered his ears as well but he was a bit preoccupied searching for his bow and gave it no thought. The writhed in pain for less then a second before once more throwing itself at Brant. Brant lifted his legs just in time to catch the creature, using the momentum he was capable of throwing it behind him. He quickly rolled onto his stomach attempting to stand up, he may not have had his bow, but even he knew that fighting on your feet was better than lying on your back.

"How am I supposed to kill this thing?! Brant practically yelled as the creature rolled around, preparing to attack once more. For the most part Brant was fine, other than a scrape on his back and the suddenly very noticeable ringing in his ears...

Nero had almost half expected the kid to die on the spot, when assaulted by the mental named 'chinny'. But, though the man's view was plagued with having to concentrate on not getting bisected by the doll creature he was engaged with, he was slightly impressed when the boy threw the creature off of himself; barely a scrape shown from the creature's lightning fast attack.

"Well... You... Dies..." The vampire's response to the boy was practically inaudible over the high pitched ringing in the young boy's ears. Whilst it had begun to dim away from the migraine inducing sound that was there before, the boy's audibility was still practically nonexistant. "Stab... " The vampire continued to give the boy instructions, unaware of his complete lack of understanding.

On his turn of events, Nero had shown quite the display of skill in order to match the doll head creature, and was ever so slowly, or so what it seemed, to be getting a slight advantage in the fight they were engrossed in. Every now and again he'd make a move that was force the doll head thing to move back, or hurriedly block, leaving itself open to attack from another angle; yet, it was still skilled enough to defend itself from that point when the vampire tried to take charge... Barely.

The chinny creature was still moving at Brant, and just before it got to the boy, it lifted its head up, arching its neck backwards, accompanied by a cacophony of sickening cracks and clicksl readying itself to attack the boy for a second time!

Nero said something, but the ringing in Brant's ears cut it off at some very inconvenient times. It sounded like... Nero was telling Brant to die? No that wasn't right. Brant had heard "Dies" meaning he must have been talking about this thing. The loud clicking noise interrupted Brant's thoughts, Brant knew that signaled the creatures next attack. Once again it threw itself at him, thrusting it's chin at his face. Brant's natural reaction was to lift his arm, effectively clothes lining the creature, unfortunately the dagger still managed to clip Brant's chest, leaving a deep gash on the right side of his torso. Thus far Brant had been able to survive through luck and luck alone.

Brant took advantage of the downed creature and pulled an arrow from his quiver, stabbing the creature in the back and moving away before it could do anything else. "This is getting ridiculous!" Brant spoke to himself, doubtful Nero could hear over the sound of him and the doll creature's fight.

Upon being stabbed in the back with an arrow, the creature let out another yelp; this one much lesser in tone and elevation than the one prior. Pulling away, in a similar manner to the boy who had moved away from it, it turned back around to face the boy. It waited for a few seconds, as if it was watching the boy; and were Brant to look close enough at it, given to amount of time given, he would notice a few things about this creature which may have been pivotal in victory to be gained over it.

The first was its dagger-chin; it appeared to be rather shoddily, and crudely inserted, as if simply jammed into the creature's head, and been sown in place with a number of, well, stitches, which were loose enough to be severed. Secondly, were its eyes; the one which had been stabbed and wounded by the boy was leaking some kind of black liquid, akin to tar, which was rolling down its face. Upon hitting the cold, hard stone floor of the dungeon, it let out a soft hiss; similar to the noise water made upon being introduced to hot metal.

After a few seconds of respite, the creature attacked again.

There was little else going on with Nero and the doll... The fight was still as it was...

Brant tried to get the best view possible of the creature in the few moments of respite between its attacks. Were those...? They were! Stitches held the creatures weapon in place, if Brant could just get a hold of the dagger he could probably muster enough strength to- The creature leaped once more. Brant ducked and rolled out of the way just in time. Unfortunately a small drop of blood landed on Brant's shoulder, burning through his clothes and causing intense pain. "Bloody..." Brant kept himself from cursing at the pain.

Brant was no acrobat however, and his attempt at a role proved it. Somehow he tumbled awkwardly and ended up slamming the back of his head on the right stone wall. The world was spinning and Brant saw two of everything. Brant squinted his eyes in an attempt to clear his vision, and when he opened them the creature was once more leaping at him. Brant ducked out of the way, allowing the creature's bladed chin to slip almost perfectly in between a crack were two stones separated. The blade was wedged, and Brant saw one of the only opening he would get. He stood, preparing to rip the dagger from the creature's mouth, but quickly fell back down again. The world spun once more, and Brant could feel something hot and wet role down the back of his neck.

Upon Brant's final reawakening, the green haired dazzling figure of Nero stood before him, his longsword placed lazily between the creature which may once have been a woman's shoulder blades. Once making sure he had Brant's full attention, he offered the young human a charming smile before plunging his blade forth; piercing the blade through the creature's chest and out in a spray of crimson.

Matched with a sickening gurgling, the silent hill-esque creature spasmed before slipping down with a final grunt.

It was over...

For now...
