Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own.

In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins.

There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free.

He stepped through the woods, pressing his hands against the trees to guide him through. More then once, he had to wide some cobwebs from himself, mostly his face. He kept his red eyes open, scanning the zone as if they could actually see, perhaps in an attempt to scare away any creature that would dare call itself brave.

He pulled his hood down, letting the wind blow over him to give him a bit of guide of direction, "West," He spoke aloud.
His fanged teeth were showing as he sighed, the gloom of this forest slowly washing over him. Normally, such a place was more to his taste, but not when he was constantly assaulted by foliage, bugs, and all the likes of the forest.

Stopping for a second, he ran his fingers through his white hair, pulling another web from it. He couldn't help but laugh at the monotony of it all. He growled a bit to himself, "I seem to wander into such strange places lately..."

Perhaps this place would reap beneficial, however, he thought to himself. Unlike many of the places he had been to, this place gave him a feeling of dread, which would be bad... If you weren't Graham Sideas.
Dread almost always meant there was something to be learned from it.

AD was perched up in a tree grinning to herself as the small steel dragon caught spiders twice it's size and made them into a snack. Now it had started going after the smaller and faster ones and had not yet caught one. Turin, the small copper fly dragon, zipped around and snagged a few smaller ones in passing. He was faster then anything and insects were always a welcome protean in his diet.

The sound of someone declaring 'West' below her. She signaled for the dragons to be silent and peered down at a stranger far below. He was partly hidden in cobwebs and seemed to like talking to himself. There didn't seem to be anyone there for him to talk to.

Wait! What if he was infused! AD grinned again and called down from her perch, "Excuse me. My I ask who you are speaking to?"

Turin landed on AD's shoulder and hid himself under her braided hair. The baby dragon saw this and decided to follow sute, her steel colored tail and wings sticking out from under AD's hair where the baby dragon was curled up between her shoulder blades. If AD could have seen the baby dragon, she would have laughed. Turin just gave it an odd look, wondering why it was trying to fit in the same place he already was.

Graham was a bit startled by the voice from above, although he did little to show it. He moved his head up slightly, his eyes closed as he did. The figure didn't seem to be alone, he noted... he should be on guard in case.

Keeping his hands at his waist, he smiled, "Merely talking to myself, seeing as there was no one else here until just now."
His voice was a lot nicer then it's usual monotone, his recent encounters with people noting that he should keep away from insults, especially with people he had not yet weighted properly.

He raised his hand up to his face, running his fingers through his hair again, a rather annoying habit he had grown of late. His mind wandered for a moment, leading him to question where it had begun.
After a few moments he shook his head, smiling upwards once again, "Why do you ask?"

Experience told him, always question motives of others, no exceptions, just do it nicely.

She listened to him for a moment before shrugging slightly. "Ok. I was just curious. Seeing as there are giant spiders further on I figured you might be with someone. If not though I guess you must be looking for the giant spider. There is supposed to be some black widow spiders around here too. Turin and I were hoping to find a few big enough to get venom from."

For a moment, AD wondered if she should go down and talk to him, but it would take a while to do without getting sticky cob web all over her. This stranger already had a few stuck to him here and there. That didn't sound like it would be too useful to her. On the other hand it would make a rather useful disguise in a place like this, cobwebs that is. She didn't know if she would want any spiders on her though.

"Oh! You wouldn't need any help, would you? I'm a bit tired of looking for spiders I can't find..."

<AD, I don't know if it's a good idea to offer help to someone when you don't even know what they are doing...> Turin told her telepathically. AD just gave a slight shrug.

Graham smiled, for once, someone else who had been taught manners. His eyes opened slightly, glancing to and fro around the area. Shrugging, he called up, "I'm really just wandering around, looking for anything interesting. I'm a bit of a researcher, but if these spiders are as interesting as you say I might have to find one, we can look together if you'd like."

It would be a lot easier to spring on a creature like a spider with someone else, Graham thought. A corpse of one of those spiders would prove to become quite a subject to examine, really. Perhaps a bit of venom could assist in some of his spells, even.

He raised his sleeved arm, pushing some of the webs aside. Looking back upwards towards the voice that called before, he spoke again, "Although I will warn you that you will have to lead, My eyesight is rather worn these days."

He began to wonder how many times he had to warn someone of that within the last few weeks, there were at least four occasions other then this, he thought.
Bringing his arms down, he began to tap his fingertips against one another as he waited for a reply.

AD shifted her weight slowly and smoothly as not to unbalance her draconic piggy-backers. She made her way down from the tree in the easiest way she could see without making too much noise. She didn't like to make noise. She let herself drop to the ground when it was mostly clear. She had to twist some to avoid a rather obvious strand of web from a larger spider. Her landing was easy enough though and she stood as the baby steel dragon decided to drop to the ground to go after yet another spider.

It made a funny squishing noise and AD giggled a little at it. She turned her attention back to the stranger. "So are you hoping to find anything in particular and do you want it captured or killed?" She asked him. She decided to ignore the fact that she had not been given this man's name because she disliked giving her own. Too many people knew who she was by name only now and she preferred to avoid that when possible. Who knew what false information people would have spread about her and the Divshatten. She wasn't some psychopathic killer or ruthless monster like so many stories played her and her guild of demons out to be.

Graham smiled to her, keeping his hands cupped inside of his cloak. In truth, he really had no goal as of yet. He had not been given one from his master, or otherwise. This world was very calm for him, for now. His ears flinched a bit at the sound of the spider being squished, although it was hard to notice. He "looked" deeper into the woodland before speaking, "I'm not really after much of anything. To be honest, I'm traveling for things to find me, things magical or strange in nature. But, if you have a goal here I will gladly offer my aide."

He nodded his head in a sort of respectful bow, his smile not diminishing. He would have to add another tally to helping someone on his list of actions. Bringing a hand up, he itched his chin almost quizzically, scrunching his mouth into a small grin.

Looking out into the forest again, he spoke, "Perhaps I can be of aide in hunting this spider you talked about. I do not know much magic, but what I know could be of use miss."

"Oh." The disappointment in her voice was not very well hidden. AD was confused now. She had assumed he was here for a reason. So many people were after all. She didn't like being wrong and not being told sooner. She stood there a moment while she puzzled out what to do.

After a while she decided that perhaps going after the giant spider would be fun. It was supposed to be a big as a wagon or something. If she was lucky she might even find some eggs and be able to take them to her guild's hall to become demonc guard spiders. She grinned at that thought and said in a more cheerful tone, "Alright! I need to find poison from black widow spiders who's bodies are at least as big as your fist and I'll need to find some spider eggs from the bigger spiders. I have a friend who thinks that the larger the spider, the less poisonous it is. So I need to find enough different sizes as I can and he is going to see if the poison is weaker in the larger spiders. They know it's true for scorpions, but not for spiders. There is no time limit or anything. You up to it?"

Her tone had become hopeful the closer it got to the end. She wasn't sure even who this was, but if he was up for killing spiders and such, she was not going to pass up the opportunity. It was always so much easier and more interesting to do things with others after all.

Graham smiled at the almost childish undertone of such a rather dangerous test. Clenching his fist a few times, he held it up, closing his eyes for a moment. He could hear some ruffling of trees and the like, though he couldn't tell if it was spiders or the wind.

Tapping his chin, he spoke slowly, "There may be some to the east, though it could possibly be a different animal, if those are still alive here. Or even the wind, I can't quite tell... As for the larger beast, that may require quite a bit of hunting."

He stopped himself for a moment, blinking a few times. Smiling again, he looked to her, "And I apologize, I seemed to have lost my manners. I am Graham Sideas, a, err... Mage, we'll leave it at that."

He smiled again, his eyes staying closed as he scanned around, craning his head to allow his hearing to detect things up in the trees more easily, or even on the ground more easily. Hunting for spiders would be a good change from the rather climactic adventures he had had of late, or even the battles he had had.
