Sain had been wandering through the marsh all day, lost, he hated this place and he had been forbidden to go in here by Fara're's orders but he had to pass through to get where he needed to get to. Which meant most likely he'd have to meet Vernon. Sain, or rather providence, made sure he'd come prepared. Two bandits attacked Sain on the way and Sain had no problem in taking their lives. He heard the master of the marsh like fresh meat, fresh mammal meat, so he figured he'd take two warm bodies along and if he didn't meet Vernon he'd live the bodies and a note and pray for safe passage on the return trip. So Sain was carrying two bodies on his shoulders and letting the small waft through the marsh, yep Vernon would have had to have a cold not to smell the smell of freshly killed meat. "Oi, this is tiresome, this better be worth this trip through this place" Sain didn't complain about the smell because he had smell worse in the city of Ilmpere where he had to crawl through a bloody swear to slay an overgrown leech thing. Nasty stuff. |

An odd scent. Vernon recognized it immediately yet it was still foreign. It was Yaksha, yet at the same time wasn't. It was some lively member of Yaksha's kin. A half-brother. A full demon, albeit a mutt demon. He make a nice addition to the Divschatten, but given who his brother was he would certainly make a better chew toy. The scent of death flowed with the demon, human and orc. The bodies however were lamentably only recently deceased. Likely some barter for some meeting, probably something to do with the pain in the neck half-brother. How anyone could stand being around Yaksha for any extended period of time was a most intriguing question. Vernon jumped from tree to tree, rustling the leaves as he closed in on his latest prey. He didn't bother too much to try and make his movements subtle. "This has something to do with Yaksha doesn't it?" Vernon asked as he neared the demon. He still wasn't entirely sure which weapon he would use against his latest victim. Perhaps the brother of Yaksha deserved to be assaulted with acidic pellets. Or perhaps Vernon could practice with his new fork..... or not as he was notably horrible with the weapon. Better to save such practice till after the demon was bound and disarmed. |

"I can smell you a mile away" Sain said noting the sudden change in the pungent smell of the swamp. The smell was more acidic now, like rotten eggs, like sulfer. it was the smell of hell, funny how the rat carried such a smell and yet it was oddly fitting seeing as how he sent most of his victims into Sain's birthplace. In any case Sain stopped walking and dropped the bodies on the squishy ground and sighed. "I'm just passing through the swamp to get to Spider Haunt Woods, there's an old witch who lives there, Baba no Yaga, supposedly she knows the location of a certain family heirloom of mine. A way to power my sword Kan'na up. I seek that power, a seek power in general. I do not seek conflict with you master of the marsh therefor if you let me pass on my way I will make sure to bring you something yummy to gnaw on on my trip back, deal?" though he could not see Vernon he could smell him, the smell wasn't nearly as bad as the sewer of Ilmpere but it was pungent enough that it served as an irritation to him and his senses. |

Of course Vernon could be smelled from a mile away, Strong odors were supposed to do that and Vernon took great lengths to ensure that his stench was the strongest. Hand to hand combat seemed like an interesting way to start things of and Vernon pulled out the Desired weaponry as the demons continued to speak. Two rotted hands one elven and one dwarven. Vernon tossed both at the demon's head, hoping both slapped the fool's face and with his aim it was quite the possibility. Still Vernon was intrigued by the demon, he could hold him off the menu for now and it seemed there was even room for him to possibly be on the guest list. Vernon jumped down and hung along the branch of the tree by his tail. "Tasty treats are best decayed, poisoned or diseased, or of course all of the above. Those bodies do little to grant you safe passage," Vernon grinned as he gestured to the dead bodies before he pulled out his favored toy, the Leech. "I don't see why you risk it all to go see that fraud of a hag anyways. She knows nothing of power nor how to obtain it. If it's power you seek, come closer. I can teach you things even your brother was too feeble to learn," Vernon mused. If the demon's word's were true he could be of some use. Vernon was begging to like the small collection of sentient pets he was gaining. The demon would might make a nice addition, though this one seemed to need a touch of the were. |

"If you mean to turn me, even in this human form, the daemon kraft that runs through my blood prevents such an occurance. If I would have known you liked corpses I would have dug something up, so sorry" Sain bowed just in time to duck the oncoming projectiles that Vernon had thrown at him. When he raised himself again he smiled. "If that is the case do you know the location of the Eye of Atasosh? The artifact I seek. It once belonged to my father but he lost it in a game of chance to Rusafiel who is now dead thanks to my son. Anzell didn't talk much, said he sold the thing to a warlock. I snapped his neck, I don't need the same problems as Yaksha has in reigning his seed" Sain's tone was harsh, cold, and full of malice. "You say you know of power? If you are so mighty why do you hide in the marsh? No offense meant, but you strike me as the kind of person who would rather be out in the world doing misdeeds than couped up in a marsh with only your animal friends and the gnarled trees to keep you company. Why not set out for bigger and better things then being the king of a single place when you could rule the whole world?" |

His demon blood was going to save him was it? Foolishness. There were ways around such feeble defenses, though Vernon didn't care for them at present. Giving the demon the powers of the moon was not important at present. Vernon's attention was caught when Sain spoke of Yaksha. Not only did that mean he knew were the eye whatsamacallit likely was, but it also meant that there was room for more fun with Yaksha. Killing little brats would be a heck of a lot easier than finding some random gem with a half-demon's soul in it. Vernon would have to inquire about the little seeds later. Vernon growled when Sain had the audacity to say he hid in the Marsh. Such a foolish remark. "Don't mix laziness with cowardice or weakness for that matter. I most certainly don't hide here either. Everyone knows I can be found here. So many tasty bounty hunter simply dieing to meet me, why should I disappoint them? Besides ruling the world is too much destruction is and chaos are much more entertaining and rewarding," Vernon answered before noticing he was notably off track. This was supposed to be about his guest not himself at this moment. "But I digress. Forget the eye for now. The question is are you hungry for the power I have to offer? Or are you a sniveling coward like your half-brother?" Vernon asked. So many options with either choice, though the answer seemed obvious enough. The other was just plain stupid among other things. |

"Sorry my mistake Lord of the Marsh" Sain said with an apologetic tone. He did not mean to offend this man, rat, thing, he actually seemed to hold the rat in high esteem, maybe because of how worried he had Fara're. Speaking off...nah he wouldn't go that far, even if Fara're could only serve one possible use for him he wouldn't go as far to betray her or the guild, for now anyway. He thought over Vernon's question long and hard before answering. "My brother, I wouldn't call him a coward persay, he's just drunk on his own arrogance and doesn't see how the world moves with or without him. I have many things to learn from him as well so I won't directly insult but I will say this, I seek power at any cost but one, my emotions, my ability to feel them is what seperates me from your average monster who hides in the guise of a human. I'll rip off my facade if you want; show you the monster I really am. If they want, the world, I'll tear apart the curtain and chains that hold Hadesifiel back and show them what the one true ruler of the pit can do. Of course you need not teach me anything, I seek only the imformation to obtain power, I need not burden you with having another pupil to train. It seems like it might be something too tiresome for you anyway and besides my alligence rests with moon child, the guild I founded, of course how long and how strong that alligence will last and is remains to be seen if the person I left in charge doesn't wake up and realize that one does not obtain what one seeks by sitting around and playing with their thumbs... ...Power is obtained by those who seek it, those who possess the drive to grasp it. All others simply do not have what it takes to stomach it. True power belongs in the hands of those who know how to wield it for the greater good. For this reason my ultimate goal of course is to acsend into the new patheon of gods and show those who would harm what I hold dear the true meaning of fear". |

Things became more and more interesting as the demon spoke. Vernon didn't care for what was said about Yaksha or of emotions, but Vernon was quite interested when the demon spoke of the Moon Child. He'd been looking all over the place for that rag tag dump. Of course Vernon couldn't help but laugh aloud when Sain spoke of what true power was and of becoming a god. It was simply hilarious. "The eye has found other uses for the time being, perhaps later you can convince me that I no longer need it. But I can show you hope to unleash all of your potential and surpass all your chains with out the heirloom. No cost to your emotions either, in fact they will be useful tools in wielding your power. The time for facades is over I want to see the real you in your truest form. But if you need a better reason to agree then I must tell you I might decided to cast away my laziness and terrorize the moon child a bit if my attentions aren't occupied elsewhere," Vernon replied as he tapped his chin. There was though the awkward question of who he was going to get the desired information about the guild out of the demon. Torture was cliche. He would have to find a way to turn the guild against him. Vernon licked his lips as the delicous thoughts rolled through his head. So much for a boring day. |

"Fine then" he smiled darkly, "The keep is right here in Norwood forest but attacking it is suicide Master of the Marsh, plus the guild is currently in a soon to be formed triple alliance between it, Contego Mundi and..." he paised before spitting out the last guild with clear venom in his voice, "Divschatten" his eyes grew dark and he sighed audibly. "I do not approve of the last one and..." suddenly the ground began to quake. "What's that?" ((Figured its time to get the drake ball rolling)) |

(meh given Sain's talkativeness and how many post we still have left. The drake fun is still isn't entirely here yet ) "The fruits of laziness," Vernon answered. He of course was aware of the happenings of his marsh. There were few secrets that the marsh could keep from him. Vernon spoke of course of the Sludge drakes. They grew to quite formidable sizes when properly fed and Vernon had a surplus of elves and bounty hunters. Apparently table scraps went a long ways. "Even if your Moon child were too strong to take head on they can easily be removed one by one. They can't be together all the time. The Contego Mundi poses as much threat to me as a flock of sheep, and they taste just as scrumptious. Seth in particular tasted most delicious. As for the Divschatten you would be right to disapprove of that arrangement. I work with the guild of demons and can tell you that it is merely a temporary treaty to keep the Moon Child out of the way. Once the time is right the treaty will be discarded. Pity the person you left in charge was such a fool to fall for the deal. Don't expect any particularly useful aid from either organization," Vernon snickered. "But since you insist upon refusing my offer I suppose you have bigger concerns to think about," Vernon laughed before suddenly reaching out with his clawed finger. He was too far of course to have any hope of touching the demon, yet that wasn't purpose of the action. Vine whipped out all around Sain attempted to snare him in their grasp. |

Sain dodged the vines and sighed, "Hey...I didn't refuse your offer, that kind of thing requires time to think about. Its apparent to me that you would easily be a boon ally, are you willing to leave your marsh from time to time?" he asked but then said, "Nevermind, this marsh must be your treasure, leaving it unattended would be a foolish error" he sighed then commented on what he said before. "Ah so thats what happened to his eye, I always wondered about that, too bad Nikkolai's wasn't your fault I would have loved to hear him scream and cry as you plucked it out. He may not deserve it but other's deserve to suffer the cruelty of seeing him missing an eye and knowing that the great master of the marsh had something to do with it. As for Divschatten I won't speak ill of them in your presence master of the marsh" he bowed then thought it over. "Before I agree to it what is it you can exactly teach me?" |

Vernon wasn't too surprised by the evasion. He wasn't trying to hard. Why he was still merely toying with his victim. He was amused by the demon's words though. Vernon didn't care for the demons indecisiveness, yet he was amused by the darkness that was inside the demon's mind despite the creature's desire for good. Perhaps it was just something to stroke his ego, Vernon couldn't say he minded that either. "Anyone who thinks I spend all my time in the marsh is some one sorely mistaken. It's not like there's anything precious here that can be stolen or corrupted while my attentions are elsewhere," Vernon explained. "As for what I can teach, as with any good teacher the question is instead what can you learn, after all there a great many secrets I have that could be passed on," Vernon replied. It was an odd question, comparable to asking how many stars illuminated the sky. For all the boot-licking the demon was doing the answer should have been obvious. "But as for the offer, if you desired time to think about the offer then you most certainly should have come with something well decayed. You walk a very thin line. On one hand you become my pet, grow in power and aren't considered an intruder in my marsh, on the other hand you become an unwilling toy and nice snack if luck doesn't favor you. Choose now or I might have to do so for you," Vernon snickered. |

So this was the game he was going to play? Not that it mattered Sain came here knowing exactly what he was going to do. Vernon had called him out on his ruse for all intents and purposes, Sain wasn't suprised, after all this was his ultimate act of defiance against Fara're. For the darkness had long consumed his heart with hate, Kan'na was proof of it. What he told Vernon was a lie, truth was... "Truth is I don't care much about this world or the guild. I can show you the way there but its still hard to find, it would be best to send someone else, a small child perhaps, to find it. The spells that protect it are quite formidable but still I feel that you could bypass them given enough time" he sighed then smiled as his form changed to his latest form from that of his blue haired one. He then bowed and dropped to one knee in a similar manner to how a knight swore allegiance to their king. "Vernon, you will teach and I will listen, I will serve and you will impart the knowledge I seek upon me. Pet, knight, servant, apprentice, I need no title nor rank" his head rose and his eyes gleamed with the darkness inside them. "I am your blade, your guillotine, tell me where to chop and drop and I will lay men and women as corpses beneath your feet" Vernon had his answer. |

Vernon wondered if this was some lie, or other form of trickery as well. A chance to betray Vernon and win back his guild perhaps, not that such a chance existed in hell. Still that didn't matter to Vernon. He just wanted minions to beat and send off to sow chaos and destruction. Perhaps if he gathered enough he could hasten the coming of apocylpse, but if he'd still have a project to amuse himself with until that time came. Loyalty wasn't entirely a requirement after all the loyalty Vernon required would come from his whip, but if the show before Vernon was more than an act Loyalty wouldn't be much of a problem. This was a most interesting development indeed, though Vernon couldn't deal with the Moon Child right away. He would have to honor the truce while it lasted, but that didn't mean Vernon couldn't offer reasons for the truce to dissolve. It would take some thinking to figure out how to manage to do it behind AD's back. But Perhaps with Sain he wouldn't have to worry about even trying. "Good choice, my pet, though sadly not as tastey. I suppose that means I have to conjure up some sort of intiation," Vernon said letting out a sharp whistle. The whisle was shortly after answered by a series of Sreeches as Vernon's favored means of transportation began to make its way towards them. "To make this most interesting.... Tell me where your strengths lie. I've trained mages and fighters but each must be dealt with in different manners," Vernon said as he let go of the branch and dropped to the ground. Chances were it would make little change in the 'initiation' unless it inspired Vernon to think up something intriguing, which Vernon doubted. |

"I am a fighter, a swordsman, that is my strength and with it I shall serve you Vernon" he smiled and raised one hand and reached back to the package he had been carrying with him. Surely Vernon had noticed it before, now though he would get to see what was inside it. Unwrapping it revealed an elegant blue staff that appeared to be made of water. It was beautiful but in Vernon's hands it would be come a weapon of ferocity and not beauty. "The Medusa's Tear, a staff that can be used to in conjunction with water spells to create illusions of those spells. I think it would best if it belonged to someone who dwells so close to water and earth instead of my hands" he got up and handed Vernon the staff. "I was going to give it to Baba no Yaga but seeing as you are now my master I think it should be my first act to increase your power but not only giving you a warrior but a weapon. I hope this will make up for my lack of bringing you rot infested body to chew feast upon". |
