Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own.

In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins.

There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free.

(Melmoth, redFiver, Fara're, Swordhunter and Herbert. Despite the large number of participants I'd like to keep the topic active and will push things along where needed.)

Rith was waiting at the designated meeting grounds just out side the corrupted forest. He was in the form people were expecting to see, the form of the charming aristocratic fortune teller commonly known as Sarro. As usual his garb seemed more fitting of a fancy party than excursion into dangerous territory. He sat on top of an elegant riding bird with beautiful black feathers. On top of his sleek black hair rested a black top hat that fit nicely with his outfit. Provisions from the trip had already been packed ahead of time even for those who would be coming with nothing, though they would still be carrying their own needs. Thankfully Rith had a few... 'shortcuts' in mind to insure that they reached the destination before provisions ran out and of course to insure that no one had means of returning to their location.

Rith had caught each of their attention in different manners, but the story remained the same. They were headed deep into the Corrupted Forest in order to retrieve ancient artifacts from an evil race of dark creatures. The lure of treasure found at the their destination and the lucrative amount of gold for simply accepting the quest were likely enough to win the attention of most of them. This was all true, yet many other details were avoided. Chances were that the questions about the details would never be asked, so he didn't have to worry much about the answers he would give.

Not much more waiting was required before action could be token, those who would be joining him would no doubt be appearing shortly. It was an interesting crowd though it was mildly randomly selected. He was surprised by the potential of some who had picked up. He wouldn't have much trouble keeping the party alive.

Fara're rarely came near Calmonah forest. She did not like the place in the least. It was dark and filled with creatures that would not think twice about attacking her. She came because of the notice she had seen. Someone seeking adventures for some 'treasure hunt.'

Now she was not one truly interested in treasures and wealth. What she cared about more was seeing what this evil race was. She also wanted to make sure that nothing from with in this dark woods would venture out into the rest of the forest. Bandits were one thing, insane forest fae a completely different story.

The weretiger came out into the clearing the group was to meet. She looked around to see if anyone else was here but only saw a man sitting on a strange bird. Kaess had let her know he was coming on this as well. She let out a sigh, the half-dragon had likely gotten himself lost. She knew she should have traveled her with him.

She figured he would come in for a crash landing soon enough. Her golden eyes came to rest upon this man. She did not know who he was. But she figured he was the one who was to lead this little excursion. She cocked her head to one side as she studied him. His garb was odd. Why would someone wear such fine clothing for traveling? Was he simply a merchant who wanted treasure and just needed a bit of muscle to help him? She had a feeling she would have to keep close watch on him.

"I take it you are the one who wanted some adventures?" she inquired. "I am Fara're." She said with a smile, showing off her pointed feline teeth.

She stood there awaiting his reply. As she waited her ears twitched to and fro. Listening for anyone or anything approaching them. She had the grace of a hunting cat, seemly perfectly relaxed while at the same time always ready to spring.

Kaess was unsure why he was comming, but he supposed there were many reasons. The artifact intrigued him for one and it was in a place he hadn't been before. 'Well there is good reason I haven't been there before, but hey time to go I guess.' Next there was the fact you couldn't really leave artifacts in the hands of an evil race. In addition the man had been interesting and Kaess wanted to know what caused that interesting feeling he got off the man. There was also the fact that when he had talked to Fara're she had said she was going and he supposed he should go too. Oh and the reward was always a nice bonus. He supposed there were a few more reasons, but that was enough thinking on it for now. He had set out early so he would arrive on time, but it was a long trip through the forest and he did get turned around a few times. He almost passed the clearing when he heard Fara're speaking to Rith.

He came into the clearing with a few sticks stuck to his clothing as evidence of getting lost several times. He also had packed a good amount of supplies in his bag of holding. He looked at the man he had met before '.... now what is his name and I should know hers too...... and only three of us total so far' "Ah here we are, I almost passed it if you hadn't spoken up. Thanks Faren.... no Fara'sa .... no darn...." Looking a Rith "Oh hello again you are the one we are adventuring with right? Anyone else coming on this trip? ..... Dear me I seem to have forgotten your name too, my apologies. I am Kaess if you remember." He cursed himself a bit and wondered if he would ever remember another person's name. Sometimes he came close, but never got it right.

He then leaned against a tree in a relaxed stance that still allowed him to react quickly if anything happened. He had a feeling that this trip was not one to let you guard down.

Herbert walked in to the clearing, completly ignoring everyone else other than the man in front of him. The nymph walked in as himself, a rare occasion, but he did not want to burden himself of staying within character if the evil he was about to face was as strong as Rith had mentioned. If he had come as Gabe, he would be limited to simply being a floramancer, while Berko was over all just weak. Jaka was quite strong but that would still force Herbert to possibly make the decision of risking Jakas character's integrity or risking his life.

So Herbert came here dressed in one of his more tight fitting robes so that he could and would be able to move about in combat with ease and with his orange and black mask hung on his face. His glaive was currently stored within his bag of never ending space but utilizing some of his spell blade magic, he could have it in his hand with in a momementcs notice.

"Good day," Herbert said to Rith before he stopped under a tree with out even looking at the two other members of the group. He did not care for them as he could only assume that they were the fodder who would be used to set off the more deadly arcane and physical traps. They were simply here to die but then again, Herbert had to wonder what Rith's plans were for Herbert. Was he merely a pawn as well or did the Lord of Whispers actually respect his talents?

Fara're was first. He was amused that she had been enlisted. He knew fortunate things would come from forming a party but he hadn't expected getting a chance to pick her brain to be one of them. She seemed to be the only one of the group with noble intentions for the quest. Despite the number of dark hearts she joined for the mission Rith was sure she would not leave unsatisfied if his his divination had been remotely correct. "As surely as the dawn chases away the night," Rith winked as the bird made a bowing motions that accompanied the tipping of his hat. Before Rith could say more two more arrivals neared.

Kaess was next and curiosity was his calling, though there were other weaker factors. How he got to the clearing without was a question in and of itself, albeit an unimportant one. How he could forget the name of his guild master was a better question, but it was also an unimportant one. Rith was glad no one's survival depended upon the half-dragon retaining any given information for a domed result was likely to follow it would seem.

Next was the one who called himself Derethal, the most informed of the group, yet Rith could tell that questions still drifted through the fey's head. Derethal had other motives for joining the group, different still for all the others and the reward of course was also greater than the others would see.

"Greeting to you all. I am Sarro and with me is the ever graceful Niuve. We shall be guiding you on this journey through the dark woods," Rith said with a tip of his hat. "We seem to be four eyes short, but we may be leaving without them should they not appear soon. No problem with beginning introductions now though."

"The adorable Minx is Fara're. The forgetful half-dragon is Kaess. And of course the enigmatic mage over there is a bit better at his own introductions, try not to get on his bad side," Rith smiled as he gestured to each of them respectively with an artistic black cane, no doubt brought only for flair. He expected that the archmage would prefer the name Derethal, but was unsure if another alais would be used in it's place, though that was highly unlikely.

OOC: Sorry for my lateness, I've been dealing with a bit of schoolwork. I should be fine now tho.

BinC: Aiden sprinted through the tall grass, uncaring of the rather noticeable sound he was creating as he ran. "Late!" he said angrily to no one in particular, "Always blasted late. I can never go anywhere without arriving there after the appropriate time. One would think I would learn by now, but noooo."

The elf berated himself both silently and aloud as he moved towards the designated meeting place. For some reason he had been picked by the elven elders in Norwood to go on a rather odd quest. Both the name of the name of the benefactor and the full nature of the quest had been withheld, but Aiden wasn't exactly one to ignore a formal request. Nonetheless, he couldn't help but wonder exactly all those who had been called would be hunting.

There's nothing but danger in that forest, Aiden thought, referring to the numerous horror stories he had heard about Calmonah. He knew that many elves tried to avoid the place altogether if possible, and if it wasn't, they always traveled as a large group for protection. The fact that a small number of people had been picked to go on a mission both worried and intrigued the elf. He supposed that most of his questions would be answered eventually, but nonetheless, he couldn't help but think that there were ulterior motives that weren't being revealed for rather sinister reasons.

Aiden was broken from his thoughts as he approached the designated clearing. He could make out a number of forms, perhaps four or five, that he assumed were the other members of this traveling group. Please don't let me be the last, he prayed silently as he approached the group. He continued running for a few more meters before slowing to a jog just a handful of yards away.

"I apologize for being late," Aiden said, speaking slowly in order to catch his breath. For some reason, as he looked around the elf felt the need to introduce himself. "My name is Aiden Tengwar," he said, "Nice to meet you all. . ."

Fara're crossed her arms and rolled her eyes as Kaess once again forgot her name. "Fara're, Kaess, it is Fara're," she said. "Really my name is not THAT hard to remember."

She really doubt that he would ever get her name right. And if he did...she might die from the shock of it. But she turned her attention from her friend when other people began to arrive.

She watched Herbert as he walked up and greeted Sarro. She raised an eyebrow as he did not give his name. Their informant then introduced himself and gave the new comer her and Kaess' name. Her golden eyes rested on Herbert, waiting for him to finally formally introduce himself.

A sound in the forest made her twitch her ears and look up. Someone else was approaching. A few moments later and elf ran into the clear. She recognized him. They had met only briefly a few months back. She nodded to him as he reintordouce himself.

"Good to see you again Aiden," she said. "It seems you have been well since we last met. I am Fara're if you do not remember me."

Now it was time to get some answers from this Sarro. "You said you are named Sarro," she spoke. "Well met. If you don't mind I have a few questions I would like answered before I join you on this quest of yours. First of all what is it we are looking for? And what kinds of dangers are we expected to run into? I will not walk blindly into the enemies lair without good reason."

Herbert almost began to laugh when the new comer entered the copse of dense trees. That very same man had entered into a battle against Herbert out in the desert's surrounding Istan. While Herbert certainly believed that he had one, he had refrained from killing the man. It would be interesting to see what this noble elf would do when he was forced to work with a man who had tried to kill him only a few weeks ago. Herbert cared little about the man seeing as he had assassinated the aristocrats a few days later with complete ease but the nymph was surely looking forward to the elf's reaction.

"Why don't you tell these lovely people what my name is, Aden," Herbert said with a chuckle before turning back to the werecat. Herbert knew the lady as Fara're, the fearsome leader of the Moon Child, seeing as Jaka had once went into the area to kill off a member and spark a fight between Moon Child and the Shadow Society.

"Don't worry, I'll protect you," Herbert said with a disturbing lick of his lips and a wink of his left eye. It would send a shiver down anyone's eye thanks to the magical effects of a spell he had caste through a combination of mental energies and a small hand motion.

Kaess apologized again for forgetting Fara're name yet again when she told it to him. 'I really must get it right one of these days.' Still he waited patiently listening to their leader as he talked. He was a bit curious when the other man's name wasn't mentioned. What is different about him I wonder. He was also bit surprised was Aiden showed up. 'I haven't seen him since that entire episode with my dad the demon and such ... well at least there is another trust worthy ally here' "Hello Aides... no Alen... umm there goes the forgeting names again. Anyways I haven't seen you for awhile glad to see you are doing well. I wasn't aware you were comming with us, but it is nice to see a friendly face and you know Fara're too how interesting. " He was happy for a few moments when he heard some speaking up.

Kaess then turned at the voice of the man yet to be named and listened to his words. He got the distinct impression he wouldn't like him. This was soon confirmed by a chill in his bones that set his blood boiling and his instincts saying to watch out for this one. 'I wonder what I need to watch out for though...'

He soon after decided that he now wanted to know the same things Fara're did. Turning to the one called Sarro, "I too would like to know what we are getting into if you don't mind explaining in more detail?"

Aiden stood off to the side as he caught his breath. As time passed, he realized that he knew quite a few people in this group after all. He waved to Fara're and Kaess politely, remembering them both from past travels. He couldn't help but smile when Kaess struggled to remember his name. Still haven't mastered that art, I see, the elf thought with a slight chuckle. No matter his lack of memory, Kaess was still a powerful ally to have when things were tough.

As he continued his quick survey, Aiden spotted the man he knew as Derethal as well. He bore no ill feelings towards the man personally--the last time they met, they had been doing a job and nothing more. The circumstances now were similar, even though they both happened to be on the same side. He nodded politely, but did little else.

"Why don't you tell these lovely people what my name is, Aden,"

The elf wondered whether or not his former opponent had gotten his name wrong on purpose or if the slip was unintentional. I'm sure remembering someone is hard when you've killed so many, the elf thought angrily. However, he kept his cool before replying calmly, "Under normal circumstances, I would say that your name is Derethal...but I have heard that you have others. So I shall leave your introduction...to you."

Aiden wouldn't allow himself to be used by this man during this journey. For now, he thought it would be best to stick with Kaess and perhaps Fara're for the remainder of the escapade.

"I too would like to know what we are getting into if you don't mind explaining in more detail?"

Secretly, Aiden was glad that someone asked the question that lingered in his mind. I see that others are disturbed by this as well, he thought as he waited for an answer. . .

Aiden was next... and late. A poor way to represent his elders, which of course was the sole reason why he was here. Rith had spoke to them as Sarro. They were convinced that it was prudent to send aid for the same reasons Fara're was here, though it seemed they avoided giving the fire mage any of the details. Didn't entirely matter why they chose not to do so. It was amusing and unintentional that Aiden all ready knew all in the party save Sarro. So long as Aiden didn't spark something with Derthal, things would be well enough.

Rith both annoyed and entertained by Derethal's skill attempt a intimidation. The taste of the conjured fear was delightful, yet the act it self was likely inappropriate. Rith could have stopped it if he had so desired, yet there was little harm in the act.

"That's quite enough of the name game. His name is Derethal, let's leave it at that and move on. Much more pressing matters to tend to," Rith remarked after Aiden spoke. This neither the time or place for such childish tit-for tat remarks.

"Speaking of which it's about time I tended to those hungry seeds of knowledge. I've foreseen the rise of Cascadia and the fall of Taras, with inaction another such event could occur. Deep within forest lies a mysterious tribe of dark fey. In one of their strongholds they hold a very disturbing artifact. I'm not entirely sure of all it's capabilities, but it seems to be a device for teleportation on a massive scale. Obtaining that is our primary objective, though for for those who could care less of such noble goals it will be found in a treasury along side other goodies," Rith explained.

"This is to be a covert operation, mind you and as such I've managed to find us a trail that should keep us mostly encounter free through the dangerous woods. We could encounter anything that calls the the woods home though my path should keep us clear of most of the more dangerous creatures. Regretfully I can not tell what these Dark fey exactly are or what they are capable of aside from some unpleasant dark magic. Optimally there with be as little fighting them as is possible. Any other questions? And of course is everyone ready?" One was missing. It was a pity, but he wasn't entirely needed. He would have to do a better job of catching the demon's eye next time it would seem.

"Ready to go here," Herbert said with a laugh at the small banter between himself and Aiden. The name had been a small joke at the dragon seeing as he could not even begin to remember names. However, Herbert had been offended by Aiden's comment about him having various names. Someone would have to have a very unfortunate accident during the trip. Herbert was sure that the fey's would oblige. Feeling necessary for some subtle revenge on the comment made by the fire mage, Herbert sent a small mental nudge to Venata who slowly marched in too the group and made an exaggerated movement of rubbing against the elf. Venata had slashed Aiden's chest in their last encounter so Aiden had returned in kind with a fireball. A few splotches of fur had still not grown back.

"Well I believe I am all ready," Herbert said with a chuckle, as he leaned on his incredibly powerful glaive. Herbert had taken the silent cue from the Lord of Whispers to stop such antagonistic efforts so he decided to wait quietly with Venata purring at his feet until they moved out into the wilds of the forest.

(Wow that was a horrible post >.<)

Kaess thought about things for awhile tapping his clawed finger on his chin for a bit. He only came up with one question which he asked shortly there after. 'I can't let anything like Taras happen again, though where did he get this information, well I will let that go still I do need to ask one more question.' "I think I have one more question before we go on our way. If needed are we capable of destroying this artifact? I can understand wanting to recover it, but we may not be lucky enough to steal it away. So I would prefer to destroy it then let it be used to create another event like Taras. I never want to see that sort of thing again."

He watched their leader cautiously seeing how he would respond. Kaess knew he would act differently on this mission depending on the answer to this question. "Once you have answered this question I will be ready to move out whenever you are." He moved away from the tree he had been leaning against showing a readyness to leave soon, but he kept a watchful eye on Derethal who he still didn't like. 'I am starting to be vary glad I know two of the people here. This is going to be a tough journey.'

Fara're did not trust either Derethal or Sarro. She just had a feeling that nothing good would come from them. But Kaess and Aiden were friends and she knew she could trust them. She had come her to see what this whole thing was about, and she was not going to leave before it even began.

"What do you plan on doing once we retrive this item? Use it for you own purposes? Destory it? Or if it is unable to be destroyed, hide it away where no one else can use it?" she asked. "I don't want to go hunting for something that will just end up in the hands of someone or something worse than where it currently resides."

She walked next to the half-dragon and the elf. "I will come along, so long as these two do," she said. "I will be ready to leave once my questions are answered."

She would stick close to her allies, and keep an eye on ther other two. Should they make any actions she did not agree with...there could be problems. She knew Kaess would follow her, since she was his guild leader. But she could not say the same for the elf. Though he did seem to get along well with Kaess.

Only time would tell what would occur here.

Aiden looked towards their 'leader' and waited for his answer to Fara're's and Kaess' questions. He quietly noted the fact that Derethal hadn't raised any questions at all about their quest. That alone was enough to make Aiden wonder at the relationship between the two men. Either Derethal already knows Sarro's objectives and plans to go along, or he has his own, ulterior motives for coming along, the elf thought. Either way, it doesn't look like either can be trusted for the most part.

He looked over this Sarro character with close scrutiny, wondering just how he 'forsaw' this event that was supposed to befall the land. While he had heard of magic which could interpret the future, Aiden had always understood was that such predictions were always in flux and that individual actions could change future events. He secretly wondered if their quest would stop the horror that Sarro predicted...or hasten it.

For now, Aiden decided that he had little choice either way. The elders had sent him here--they apparently trusted Sarro enough to send a ranger to help him in his quest. Nonetheless, Aiden would be sure to keep his eyes open for any sign of trickery. He would also make sure to stick close to Kaess and Fara're for the duration of their trip. Having already fought Derethal, Aiden knew very well that he would need a bit of help if they came to blows again in the future. . .
