| Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit. Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own. In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins. There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free. Create a character now! If you're already a member, you can log into your account below: |

(8)Nocturne started off beside Yaksha and heard him humming a tune under his breath. Nocturne joined in the tune and was soon singing a haunting song. Nocturne’s voice floated lightly on the air around them and even though her song was in a different language it conveyed a feeling of love-lost and deep sadness. Of death and loneliness. Of the final step towards the edge of madness. But then Nocturne’s voice changed slightly and her song gave off a feeling of a newcomer, a love found again, a heart to pull the other back from the edge and into life again. She was sure how long she sang for but when her voice trailed off the site of the drake nest came into view. It seemed like no time at all had passed. They had encountered a few scuffles along the way, but those were mainly with animals that felt the need to attack them. They had been easily dispatched and Nocturne’s voice had sung through it all. Now though she stared at the hideous beast that was the Devious drake. “What an ugly piece of flesh.” The Devious Drake was a large drake that lacked a pair of wings. Its skin was dark like the forest around it. It seemed to be nesting over 4-5 eggs. The eggs were speckled with dark purple spots making them blend into the forest as well. Nocturne opened her pack and drew out a large piece of paper. Nocturne looked over at Yaksha and smiled. “Drakepaper.” She waved it at him. “As long as we can lure the drake onto this I can hold it in place until we can grab a couple eggs and get out of here. It’ll just be getting it onto this paper before I make it sticky. Think we can do that?” Nocturne spread the paper out on the ground in a clear patch near the nest. She caused one side to stick to the ground and then drew Requiem. “Let’s go.” |

Yaksha chuckled, peering at the drake. Its bulbous, corpulent form was sitting contently on the eggs, warming them. Yaksha murmured soft arcane words, sending a tongue of flame at the drake quickly. It struck the drake's arm, wrapping around it and singing it enough to cause its head to snap up. The drake spotted them, and sneered before lowering its gaze to the whip, attempting to dislodge it with fingers, but only succeeding in singing its claws slightly. Finally, the drake closed its eyes, breathing deeply as the flames sank under its scales. It looked up, smiling with a chilling intellect as it let out its breath slowly, flames firing from its gullet and almost striking the two of them. Yaksha lept back, the flames just barely missing him, as he peered at it. He murmured softly, and watched the flames carefully. "My friend claimed when he fought them, that his ice magic only worked on them once. Could these drakes be resistant to magic itself?" He stepped forward, the flames now gone, and approached the drake. "Nocturne, cover me. I want to see what exactly it is that makes these drakes so dangerous." He waved Behemoth forward, and it charged at the drake, the flames from its mouth singing it, but not enough to keep it from barreling into the beast, knocking it off of the egg and shattering one as it passed. Yaksha's eyebrows knitted, and he yelled softly, "Careful with those! We need at least 2 intact!" |
