| Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit. Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own. In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins. There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free. Create a character now! If you're already a member, you can log into your account below: |

Fara're knew Chris had visited Erolam. She was upset he had gone behind her back once again. She did not trust the goat. True he could no longer harm them due to the collar she placed on neck. But his words could still turn Chris against her... As she moved through the forest she picked up his scent. So he was still in Norwood. Why did he stay here? The weretiger turned and began walking in the direction of his scent. As she neared she heard the sounds of splashing water. It was not long until she spotted him. Erolam was now stuck in his drow form. And he was on the edge of the lake trying to fish, in a cat like manner. She could not help but smirk a bit. It did look a little funny to see a drow trying to fish like a cat. After watching him for she stepped out from the concealment of the trees. She stood there casually with her arms cross. Her long tail swayed back and forth behind her. She was perfectly calm. After all, he could not harm her so she knew no battle would happen today. "I see Chris has taught you a thing or two," she said. "That boy just won't listen to me." |

Erolam's fingers trailed over the water slowly, darting every so often. A single fish was hanging around, looking interested in the bug-like motions. Darting, his hand dove under, his razor sharp fingernails digging into its sides. Pulling it up, he snapped its neck with his index's knuckle. Looking at the fish, he shook his head. The was Chris showed him wasn't working too well so far. In a couple of hours, this was the only fish he'd caught, and it was rather thin. Sighing, he tossed it over his shoulder, hand freezing mid-throw when a scent hit his nose. His back tensed, spinning at the same time as he started his semi-transformation. His horn nubs on his head sharpened and burst through, growing slightly. He could feel his skeleton thicken, growing stronger and more durable. His form grew slightly, spinal bumps growing a bit. Fat dissolved and muscle grew. His hands became longer and more muscular, nails turning to ivory claws. “You!” The fish in his hand gave a popping sound as his fist squeezed around it, eyes bursting. He stood from his crouch, heavily scarred chest shining in the sunlight. He walked towards her, hair on his head and neck thickening and lengthening. A pang of hurt echoed through his body at the fish's death, but it was small. He lifted a hand to punch her, a wave of brain making him hunch over, still approaching. Rage burned in his eyes, lips pulling back, showing sharpened teeth. Without any further words he gave a sort of failing lurch as he tried to leap on her, the waves of pain and nausea rushing through him at the intent to hurt her. |

Fara're rolled her eyes as Erolam tried to attack her. He could not harm her in any way. She lifted a hand and increased the gravity on the collar around his neck. The added weight would likely make him face plant into the ground. She released the effects almost immediately. She had merely done it help knock some sense into him. "Oh calm down would you," she said. "You know you can't hurt me. And trying to attack will only hurt you. Besides I am not here to harm you. No point in that anymore." She looked at him. How had she ever feared someone like this? Now he seemed to much weaker than her. She was also confused as to how Chris could see good in him. That boy saw 'good' in everyone. "I know you have still be seeing Chris. He thinks that merely not telling me will keep it hidden. He has yet to understand I can smell his 'friends' on him when he comes back home," she said. "Don't you even think about poisoning his mind with your words. Remember who you will have to deal with if you harm that boy." She knew Erolam could not physically harm Chris no matter how hard he tired. The collar took care of that. But she had no control over his tongue. A small part of her wanted to believe Chris' trust, but the larger part of her saw it as foolishness. Erolam did not deserve trust, he had killed to many innocents for that. |

The demon felt the gravity's pull on his collar, throwing his balance off. He fell to the ground, lying there on his belly. He looked at her as she released the pull, an eyebrow cocked. She didn't seem to want to fight him this time. He considered letting it go at that, until she mentioned his not hurting Chris. He hated the fact that people assumed he was going to kill Chris, that he wanted the boy dead. The comment angered him further than he possibly could have hated her at the moment. Once she'd finished her sentence, he was moving. The intense pain running through his body was nauseating, keeping him on the ground as he crawled towards her, digging into the ground with his fingers and using his body's need to curl up to inch forward, blood pounding in his veins. His anger was evident in his eyes and in the tone of the few words he could squeeze past the pain. “Wouldn't hurt.... Boy... you... b--” He was cut off as a particularly painful wave ran through him. He lay there, the pain subsiding as he panted for breath, fingers limp. She might have been spying on her own son, but she obviously wasn't paying attention to him. To think he'd defended her, was offering help to her son on how to fix their relationship... Erolam spat on the ground at her feet, sighing. He lay for a moment before his hand darted out to grab her pant leg, the collar not pausing the action. He gathered the strength to speak. “You keep an eye on him.” He said, a menacing tone to his voice. Purely on Chris' behalf, he was able to show his concern for him. “I can't hurt anything thanks to you. But there are others that would, and will.” He hissed his words, making them sound more like a threat than a demand. |

Fara're watched him as he tried attacking her again. She pulled her leg back as he to a hold of her leggings. She crouched down and looked at him in the eyes. "You are angry I don't trust you?" she said. "Our previous encounters are what makes me suspect the worst from you. Did you think it would be any different? I don't know what kinds of things you have said to Chris. I have more important things to do than spy on the boy. But should he keep going behind my back...I will give him less and less freedom. If you see him again, let him know that. The more he deceives me, the fewer opportunities I will give him to do so. He does not seem to listen to me." She stood back up and walked past him. "The pain will lesson if you stop thinking of hurting me," she said. "I would like to believe what Chris has said about you...but you have given me no reason to. It is because of him I put that thing on your neck. I am giving you a final chance because of that boy. Use it as a chance to redeem yourself. I am not one to hold a grudge against those who have truly changed. You can still earn my trust. But that is exactly it...you have to *earn* it." She looked out over the lake. She glanced down the fish he had caught. It was small indeed. The way he was trying to fish would do him no good. It took cat like reflexes to fish like that. His reflexes were good...but not the right kind for this. She let out a sigh. "If you will let me, I will show you a more efficient way of fishing," she said. |

Erolam shook his head. “No, Fara're. I'm not mad you don't trust me. I'm mad you don't trust Chris.” He felt the pain subsiding further, almost gone now. Erolam sat up, cross legged. “I understand you doing what you had to in order to keep me safe.” His body began to return to a more normal state, back to its elven figure. “So don't trust me. But at least do something for me. Listen to your son.” He said quietly, half hoping she didn't hear him. He placed his forehead in one hand, rubbing at his temples with thumb and pinky. A throbbing headache was raging about his head. “I'm meeting with your son. There. Now it's not behind your back, is it?” He asked coolly, pained by his head. “Funny, you don't think he listens to you. But why should he when you won't listen to him?” He asked, eyes flashing. “Me and Chris are alike, you know. More than I care to be true.” His tone changed as he spoke about Chris. The hardness was gone for a moment, a caring quality to his voice. Listening to it could make it difficult to think he'd just attacked Fara're a moment ago. His gaze focused back on the woman, returning to his previous state. “But how much would you know about that?” He snapped, voice hard again, angry. His personality was shifting quickly now, nicodemus' power giving way to his old self more and more as time went on. Certain things gave each power, his love for Chris reinforcing himself, his anger with Fara're backing his violent side, his rage. “That would be... welcome.” He admitted, looking at his starving frame. Since he'd been collared, he'd been having trouble finding food, giving him a sickly look. |

She looked over to him. "I do listen to Chris," she said. "But he has done several things that have lost my trust. He acts behind my back when there is no reason for him to. He trusts too quickly and won't listen to reason. First he met a bandit and lied to me about that, only to be captured later. Then took lessons from a mage without telling me, when had he mentioned he wanted to learn magic I would have helped him find a teacher. And befriend Duo, who has harmed a dear friend of mine on more than once occasion. Not to mention his many trips outside of Norwood without even telling me where he is going. Then you...going to meet you even after I forbid him from doing so. The sooner he stops sneaking behind my back, the sooner I can trust him again. Should you ever become a parent you might understand." Her words were not harsh, just spoke mater of factly. She truly wished she could trust Chris. The pain she had from this showed in her eyes. Chris wanted freedom, but only sought it by deceiving her. She was trying to make him understand that the more open and honest he was with her, the more privileges she would grant him. "I don't doubt you care for him now. Your tone does not lie," she said. "But I sometimes love does not mean giving a person what they want. It sometimes means denying them that pleasure because it is what is best for them. Chris needs to learn to judge people first and then give them trust. Not the other way around. He has been lucky thus far...but I fear he will end up dead if he does not learn this lesson soon." When he accepted her offer of an easier way to fish she nodded to him. She walked over to a tree and snapped off two long branches about an inch in diameter. She took off her cloak and pulled out a dagger. The cloak held little value to her so she had no qualms about destroying it. She used her dagger to cut a large piece of fabric and began tying it to the branches. The make-shift net made, she set it aside. She picked up the small fish Erolam had caught and began cutting it into small pieces for bait. Take the bait and net over the water edge she motioned for him to come over. "Sink the net down to the bottom," she explained. "You can get better material for it later, but this will do for now. Best do this close to a pod of fish, but that is a bit obvious. Drop in some bait and wait..." She dropped in the pieces of fish meat and waited. A few minutes later three fish came over and began nibbling at the food. In a quick motion Fara're pulled the branches together and out of the water. The action caused the net to close in around the fish. She set it down on the land and opened it up. Three fish flopping around inside. |

Erolam closed his eyes. “Chris is trying to become his own man. The more he tries, the harder you seem to be holding on. And he keeps trying harder to break free.” He opened his eyes. “But it's getting dangerous for him. He's getting lucky with me every time we meet. No matter how hard I try, there's still a part of me that wants to kill him.” He shook his head. “Can you talk to him? I tried, had him promise me to be more careful about people. But I can't do as much as you can. I think he's worrying about how much you love him.” Erolam's tone was back to its soft form. He was talking about Chris. He followed her to the lakeside, watching as she used a net to pull up three fish. Smiling, he saw how it worked out. “Very nice.” He commented, offering no thanks. His tone was hard. Erolam's eyes floated on Fara're for a moment, something new, yet not so new, showed in his eyes. His lips pulled back. Out of nowhere he lifted his hands to his collar, choking and grinding his teeth in pain. He fell back, breathing hard as the look left his eyes. Erolam cursed. “Don't take it off.” |

"I know he wants to be a man, but he still acts like a child. Avoids his chores and skips his training lessons. He is cute, but he needs to mature a bit. I have talked to him about, and will continue doing so. Loving as a mother is a hard thing to do. Because there are times you have to give harsh love, and a child never likes receiving that. I fear the only way he will learn is if he does trust someone who intends to harm him..." She looked over to Erolam as he suddenly tried to attack her. Her gaze hardened, but something seemed different. He was calm one moment, then seemed to completely change. She suddenly remember that his demon side...was because he had bonded himself to the creature. Could that be behind this seemingly split personality? "I am not taking that thing off anytime soon," she assured. "Not until I can be sure you won't try attacking me again. Its that demon isn't it? You are still bonded to him." |

Erolam watched her, eyes hard and heated. “There's nothing wrong with me. I'm just...” He trailed, not knowing what to say. He wanted to deny it, a part of him didn't want to mix with other beings, he wanted to change, to be like Chris wanted him to be. Sitting up, he clutched his head again, feeling something pounding at his skull. It was like when he and abe were having fights. “I don't--” He started, but couldn't finish. “wait...” He said, freezing where he was. When he and abe were together, they sometimes had fights over various things, and the disagreement made their souls repel one another slightly, usually taking form of pain I his head. “I've been having... Headaches...” He frowned. “Since you put the collar on me...” He was only half minding what he said, thinking this over for himself. If these headaches were the same as the ones he'd had before, and they were hard to forget, then that could mean he wasn't alone. “Makes sense...” He muttered to himself, rubbing his temple. Since he'd been collared, he'd stopped communicating with nicodemus. But he still felt him there, though he'd been feeling somewhat bipolar. |

Fara're studied him for a moment. If there really were two personalities in him...perhaps that meant they could be separated. She wanted to believe that it was the demon that was the murder and the monster. Wanted to believe as Chris believe. But all their battles made it hard for her to do so. She rested her head in her hand. "I'll do it for Chris..." she said softly to herself. "I will make an offer. It is completely up to you. I will do some research into how to separate you from that demon. But you must *want* that to happen. And somehow show me that 'Erolam' can be trusted, and that is is 'Abe' who wants me dead," she said. "Should I find away to separate you, and you still seek my death...I will kill you," she said. "I have already promised the same to someone else...so it is not like I would be going out of my way or anything." She looked at him. "So what of it? Do you want to be rid of the demonic taint? Should that happen and you earn my trust, that collar will be removed," she finished. |

Erolam watched her feet, nodding as she spoke. He froze at the start of her offer. He knew it wasn't Abe. Abe was a full other soul in him, someone he could actually communicate with. This... was not whole. It was stronger and bigger than his own, but it lacked the total sentience of a completed soul. This was only a portion, one that changed who he was, one that backed certain parts of him. He let her continue, having worked out what happened, why he'd been so bloodthirsty after he was returned. Why nicodemus could make him do what he wanted. Shaking his head, he waited until she was quiet. “Fara're. For one thing, yes. You're partly right. But it's not Abe. It's... something worse. But the worst part is...” He sighed here. “It doesn't make me do something. It only makes urges that are there stronger. I'm still mad at you.” He shook his head. “It might work... but you'll have to promise me that after its done, you leave the collar on. Don't take it off.” He bit his lip, hating himself for this. His captor had just offered him the key and he'd rejected. “But please. Get him out.” He groaned as the headaches returned. |

Fara're looked at him with her golden eyes. It was not Abe? But something else? What ever it was it did not truely matter. So long as it could be removed. She hoped that Erolam was not just trying to fool her. "If you do not want the collar removed then it will remain," she assured. "I can't make any promises that I will find away to remove the demon. I have already been looking into that for someone else, and have yet to have any luck. Though...with some new friends of mine I think I might have access to some other options. When I find away, I will come find you." She gave him a smile about his comment about him still being mad at her. "I would not expect you to be any different. I am still angry with you as well. I just refuse to let anger cloud my judgement. I am trying to see past that demon, for Chris' sake. Don't make me regret that choice," she said. She rose to her full hight once more and turned to look over the lake. "With that collar on I guess it is fine if you stay in Norwood. You will still be able to hunt just fine...you just will have to learn a different way that you use to use," she said. "But you won't be seeing Chris for a while. He will be too busy doing chores and the like as punishment for delibertly disobeying me." |

Erolam shook his head. “Thank you. I think in the Divschatten I observed a spell. One that trapped the soul of its target in a gem. If there's two of us in here, maybe you can get us both out. You'd have to find out the details somewhere else.” He remained grim for a moment before offering a smile. “Fara're... Thank you.” He said quickly, looking like he'd never said anything. “Just know that I'm going to continue seeing Chris. Perhaps when he's done with his punishments, but I will see him again.” He nodded. The drow stood, rubbing the nub of his horn. |

She just nodded to him when he spoke. "I know I can't stop you from see the boy. But you will be seeing less of him unless HE stops lying to me," she said. "So long as he tells me what he is doing, where he is going, and who he is seeing, then he will have more freedom." She turned her back to Erolam and began walking away. "I have other things to take care of now," she said. "I will look into this soul thing. But since I trust no member of Divschatten, I will seek others out for their aid." Without another word she walked back into the forest. As soon as shadows fell over her, she seemed to meld into them. With in moments she there was no trace of her, she was gone. The weretiger stepped out of the shadow in the courtyard of the Moon Keep, a several hour walk from where she had left Erolam. Well, she had work to do. And she had to find Chris... |
