| Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit. Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own. In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins. There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free. Create a character now! If you're already a member, you can log into your account below: |

Beside the Hauntwood March sat a wood, not even large enough in square miles to be called a forest. It was dark and twisted, as if the very fabric of evil had tainted it beyond repair. Small webs could vaguely be seen across the branches of the trees, and covering the bushes and other assorted plants. The wood was tightly packed together, with the winding trails barely being even manageable. The branches scrapped and snatched, seeming to be trying to take travelers into it's being. As the day goes by in this eerie destination the sounds of crows and incests, while in the night many very stange things could quite possibly be heard. In a rare clearing inside these woods was rooted a great willow, its branches spread out high and wide and without a single leaf on its entirety. Below this tree sat a small girl, her hair glowing a deep violet and her eyes wandering about her surroundings in amazement. So this is the Spiderhaunt Woods huh? Its so big! The young girl, Thursday, thought to herself as she let her eyes roam about as she stared at every small feature that could be seen. She was both disappointed and excited at the same time. She was happy to have finally found this place, but was a little sad that there weren't any travelers around. Well...not any ones that were alive anyways. Thursday could only shrug at her situation. "Might as well play around for a bit, I don't want to leave just yet" the young girl said to no one before pulling a leather black case that was on her back and placed it next to herself, and opening it: revealing a polished black violin. With a small smile etched suddenly onto her childish lips Thursday picked up said violin, placing into position below her chin. A matching bow seemed to appear into the girls hand, and with a slow flick of the wrist she began to play. The began as a faint whisper in the wind, but slowly began to rise in volume as the entire section of the woods was soon filled with the eerily beautiful sound of the ebony instrument. It grabbed everything's attention, both people and monsters alike. [Theme of Topic/Song of Violin: Here ] |

A spider the size of a grown man's fist dropped out of the woods, landing perfectly on Serindė's shoulder. She didn't even start, looking rather delighted instead. She cooed to it, murmuring little nothings to it as one might do with a pet or a small child. When she wandered farther into the woods, another spider, smaller this time, dropped to perch on her other shoulder and she looked ecstatic. This was a sign from Lloth, showing that she was favored, that she hadn't displeased the Goddess when she left the Underdark. Haunting music, the crying of a lone violin echoed through the area and the spiders that she'd collected scurrying off, returning to their webs. Serindė's head wiped around, wondering who or what was creating that music. After a moment, she convinced herself that she needed to go and investigate. What if the person making the music somehow harmed the spiders? Lloth would never forgive her for that! Serindė followed the music, stalking through the forest, dodging spiderwebs and low hanging branches easily. She faltered when she entered a small clearing. How odd, one wouldn't think you'd find a clearing in a small woods such as this. She shook her head, reminding herself to focus because there, sitting under a willow tree, another oddity in these woods, was the source of the music. Serry stood at the edge of the clearing, eyeing the young girl curiously. What was a child like that doing in a place like this? And where had she learned to play like that? |

Thursday continued on with her simple performance, the bow flowing smoothly with each pivot. It was an oddity in her eyes really, how it was that this music had such an effect on her and the creatures around her whenever she played. It had a calming effect, but it also excited as well. It was an oddity, but still she continued to play. Although unnoticed by Thursday, many creature were in fact in a state that she was used to. All reacted differently, but one thing was for sure: It had a charming effect. Unbknownst to the young girl, A single ordinary spider slowly descended from the great willow. From the one soon came more, and about two feet above Thursday was a several dozen spiders moving towards her. Thursday twitched slightly, feeling a tiny movement on her neck. She stopped playing, but soon passed it off as the wind. As she continued her playing a smaller sized spider moved from the girls neck to her shoulder. Thursday shuudered, but continued to assume it to be some small, uneventful thing or another. The spiders, unaware of the young girl's discomfort, all moved up and onto her neck, shoulders, and head. Thursday promptly reacted as any civilised young lady wood: she jumped up from below the tree, dropping the violin into the case with a plop, and let out a screech. She attempted to muffle herself, but it was still rather loud. When reality checked back in Thursday stood stark still. If I don't move, than they probably will just lose interest..or was that bears? I cant remember. I wish it was just bears, I could deal with those Thursday thought, completely forgeting her position as she dazed off dreamily at the thought of a mass genocide of cave bears. |

Serindė leaned back, resting against one of the twisted trees, her arms crossed over her chest. She listened in silence, making no further movement or sound. For all that it was an odd sight to see, it was enjoyable, the music pleasing to the ear and she didn't wish for it to end quite yet. She wasn't the only one who had been drawn by the music, Serindė noticed as multiple small spiders descended on silken thread from the willow tree. Most chose to remain hovering above the girl but then one seemed to gather the courage to drop down, moving closer. She watched as the girl twitched but kept playing even as the spider continued down her neck and onto her shoulder. When that first spider was not denied, the rest of the spiders soon joined it, crawling all over her head and shoulders and Serry had to praise the girl. Many people couldn't take have spiders on them but this human girl seemed calm... or unaware. Unaware, she decided, as the girl promptly jumped up and let out a rather loud, if somewhat muffled, screech. She winced, the sound painful to her sensitive ears. She should probably do something before the girl killed all those little spiders. Serry straightened, letting her arms drop to her sides and she closed the short distance between them. "Well, I was considering helping you.. But you don't seem to be afraid anymore." And the girl didn't, she had this weird look on her face, as though she wasn't currently present mentally. |
