Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own.

In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins.

There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free.

Doguso stumbled along the beaten path. Trees loomed high above his head, all around him to as far as he could see. Nearly tripping over an uprisen root, Doguso sat himself down right up against the tree. Taking out a canteen of water, Doguso put it up to his mouth only to be disappointed, learning that he neglected to refill it. Sighing, he wiped his brow and stood back up.

Doguso saw deer walking somewhere. He figured it might be looking for water or food, so he took to following it at a distance. Luckily the deer was also thirsty, and led Doguso to a lake. In his thrist, Doguso recklessly ran for the lake and started cupping water in his hands to drink. After a few moments drink, Doguso sighed and looked back up across the lake. "Nothing dead here, nothing interesting but animals... guess it's the deer's lucky day for leading me here..." he said moments later, while filling his canteen back up.

Medusa sighed and stretched her legs as she removed her hood from her head, today was going to be one of those days she could just tell. Her blonde hair was still braided in it's normal way and her fingers worked on undoing them as she dangled her feet against the glass surface of the water. After fully unbraiding her hair, Medusa removed her clothing and hopped in the water.

It had been so long since her had gone swimming and the water felt good against her skin as she glided along through it like a water moccasin gliding on the surface of the water (no pun intended). Relaxing and laying on her back, Medusa found herself a rock and lighted up against it to use it as a chair to rest against. Yawning slightly she submerged herself underneath the water to think about things.

It was sometime later that Medusa awoke from her nap in the water, kicking her legs; she discovered that her skin was all pruney from being underneath the water for so long. Blinking the sleep from her eyes, Medusa dove underneath the water in an effort to wake herself up from her nap; the cold water instantly removed all traces of sleep from her body. Popping above the surface of the water, Medusa noticed that there was someone on the shore who seemed to be filling up something with the water from the lake. At first, Medusa hid her face under the water, only to her eyes; however she then changed her mind and swam over to him, hiding halfway behind the rock that she was originally sleeping on. He must not be a very smart kid to notice her sleeping there before. Propping herself up on the rock, yet still hiding her body from view from her shoulders down, Medusa smiled at him and waved. “Hi there.” She didn’t talk loudly, she didn’t need to. The water carried her voice over to him as she waited for a response.

Doguso looked up to see a naked women laying on top of a giant rock in the lake. Laughing, he yelled out, "Are you some kind of siren? Cause that was a weak attempt to allure me, y'know."

Capping off his canteen, Doguso slung it across his chest, the bottle landing gently upon his right hip. Doguso looked around and into the lake. Unsatisfied, he returned his gaze to the women. "What do you want? I don't have lotion if that's what you're wanting. Nor am I one to talk to, since most wouldn't... want my company."

Doguso started walking around the lake to where the women resided, his left hand casually fell towards his hip, but close and tense enough to grab his knife, if need be. Dangerous times it was, never know when one might need a quick block or stabby. "Sides, what would a women like yourself be doing in a place like this... naked of all things, just to wait for a guy, like myself, to come along and you to say hi to, either trying to toy or seduce or who knows what."

Medusa laughed a rather musical laugh and shook her head still laying on her rock. "Do I look like that kind of woman to you?" Tipping her head backwards and laughing again for a good minute, Medusa finally quieted doen and spoke again. "I was swiming if you must know. You don't exactly own this lake, aren't I free to come and go as I like and to do what I wish? If you muct know I feel asleep in the water and I would like to get out now. My skin is pruney, turn your head please I'm coming out."

Swiming to the bank of the lake, Medusa clambered out and quickly hid herself behind a tree before shaking her head like a dog then putting on her clothes. Stepping out from behind her makeshift cover, Medusa bowed to him, her tail flicking back and forth visibly behind her as she spoke in her sultry tone. "My name is Medusa. It is a pleasure to meet you. An know, I don't want you lotion. While I might be possessed by a snake I have to tell you at least my skin isn't scaley." She smiled widely and chuckled at him, meanwhile fiddling with the two long pieces of her hair as she began to braid them back.

"Anyways, I was simply out here for a swim, I could actually be asking you what you were doing out here but I'm not stupid enough to make you state the obvious to me in such a manner like you did with me." Smiling again, Medusa sighed and shook her head, the action sending water flying in all directions and causing her hair to respike. "What is your name?"

"I don't know... you're naked on a rock, what should I think of you? Hahahah." Doguso shook his head, this person was interesting, but something disturbed him about her. "Well, for all you know, really, I could own this lake, who's to say? And who's to say I will avert my attention, what would you do if I continued watching?" Doguso laughed as he turned around and waited. For some reason, he just wasn't in the mood to be perverted, although, she was pruny... would it be the same as an old person then?

Doguso turned around after a couple moments and saw the women come walking out, clothed. She bowed to him, which is something he really didn't care for, but he nodded his head slowly, like a half tried bow. "Well, this snake thing came out of nowhere. Thanks for sharing, although... being infused with a snake demon, or possessed, whatever the difference might ultimately be, is interesting indeed... mind telling me how this came to be?"

"Hahah and as to why I'm out here, nothing more different then you, although I was simply thirsty. Nothing wrong with an elf wanting a little water is there?" Doguso raised his left arm to fend off the water flying at him, his arm now slightly dampened. "Heh, I'm Doguso, and as to me, let's just say death and I have a thing together."

Medusa again shook her head and chuckled. "Hmm, death? That sounds lovely." Smiling widely and grining at him, her eyes glinted with a tell tale sign that she was one, either completely facinated at the thought of death (which she was) - two, not all there in the head (which again, she wasn't) or three, extremely hungry and had to have her POPS (which acually don't exist in Imy so that rules out that choice).

Regaining her composure, Medusa smiled normally compared to the one that she had just done before and planted the tip of her tail into the ground, folded her legs so that they were crossed and placed all of her weight on her tail so that she appeared to be floating in the air. Streching her arms upwards and yawning again, Medusa smiled and shook her head.

"I can't rightly remember exactly how it happened. I do remember that I was a professor. If I remember correctly I found a book about possession and began to study it in great detail. That lead to other things and tah dah, here I am." Waving her arms in the air like she was Vanna White (who again does not exist in Imy), Medusa tipped her head to the side and cracked her neck while humming something that sounded like triumphant music.

"Alright, so you know about me, your turn."

Doguso grinned back at Medusa, "Yes, death is fascinating and beautiful. What else could give such happiness, what else is so forgiving and merciful. In the end, we all die, but those who master death and embrace it, not only be immortal, but gods. Sides, death is just too wonderful!" Doguso started to rant, ever since a kid, he was fascinated by death, may have been his best friend dieing, could be a deformity in his brain. Either way, he loved it too much.

Doguso saw what Medusa was doing and chuckled. What an odd way to sit, like a kangaroo. Doguso saw cross-legged in the grass, staring at this unusual women. "Huh, so you were seeking power? And through your search you found a demon to infuse. What an... indifferent sacrifice to power. Why would you use such an unusual method to find power. I bet the demon in you won't even let you openly use it, am I right? See, as for me, I rather find power in death, not some other being, and tame it to be my own. There are so many values to being undead and having mastery of it, and so many ways. Yet there seems to be few viable... true options to truly owning it."

Medusa shook her head and clucked her tongue at him making 'tisk tisk' noises. "You misunderstand me. I didn't originally become possessed with the intent of gaining power. No, far from it. I was simply curious as to what it was about. I misused the information that I had and ended up losing myself to a being far more powerful than myself." Although this could be somewhat of a sad thing, Medusa simply sat there with a look of bored indifference on her face while she explained.

"However, after becoming possessed I found something better than power, something better than death, something better than life and something better than most other people try to use to fill their time. I found madness, and within that madness I found true freedom." She smiled again and laughed musically before continuing. "You see, someone like me has absolutely no rules, nothing to hold us back. We are different than the rest of the world yes? So we are treated differently. We are allowed more leverage because we are simply written off as crazy. We are not held to the same standards as those of you in the world who are 'sane' as you put it. In fact, the only rules that someone who is like me has are the rules that they place on themselves within their own mind."

Folding her arms and placing them in her lap, Medusa rocked ack and forth on her tail as though she were slightly ansy. It could have been due to the fact that she was trying to get her thoughts together, or that her speech about insanity was forcing hers to come to a head. After smiling a rather evil, wide grin, Medusa settled down and ceased her rocking to talk to the person once more.

"I do not crave power persay. All I simply desire is to show the world how liberating it is to be like me, and the few others who have embraced madness as a gift and not a hinderance. If all were like me, the world would be such a better place." Her voice faded as though she were reminicing about something before she turned her head back towards the boy and smiled again, although not an evil smile but a rather cute one.

"Would you like to try it?"

Doguso sat there listening to the long speech. At first he was interested, but the long wall of sound that came out of Medusa's mouth. He was neither attentive nor spacing out, he was simply, how you put it, bored. Eventually his eyes shut slowly, and his head nodded slowly as his mind slept, so it looked like he was paying attention closely but really his mind wandered off. He thought about girls turning into crazy three eyed demons and guys becoming skeletons, and at the top was himself, a shadowy figure. Not a typical day dream but, who cared, this Medusa was insane, no doubt. He awoke suddenly, his body jerking abruptly. He caught the end, something about him being sane. Then the one thing that did catch his attention, was that someone like her are the only ones with their own rules.

Doguso started laughing at this, and couldn't stop laughing for a long time. If a scholar was around and wanted to be predanctic, he would say about ten seconds, but who's counting? Finally he stopped, and he looked right into her eyes with a grin that seemed to swallow his face. "Oh, who says only madmen makes their own rules. Don't we truly, just follow our own? Yes, most of us will follow the laws, but we are the ones that choose to. Who says we have to? We pick which laws to follow, what rules to follow, and we make our own moral ethic. The difference is, you have no rules, you don't look at laws and decide if it makes sense to follow. You just do whatever. comes. to mind. first. Am I wrong? Hey though, to each their own, certainly makes things more interesting, neigh?"

Doguso laughed at Medusa. In her insanity, she was almost a child. The way she rocked back and forward then stop, she seemed to not stay still, constantly swaying. "I'm sure it is liberating to have no rules, the chaos and death would be delicious, though I don't foresee the world becoming that, as few are that stupid or adventurous to send themselves down that downward slope. However, why must madness run the world? Madness is nice, but death is sweeter, madness is just uncontrolled thoughts that run rampant and can ultimately ruin oneself, becoming a maddening depression. Death is fast, painless, it truly liberates oneself, to not feel at all, and without fear, without anger or love, happiness or pain, how can one go wrong? One can do whatever they please at no cost, because they're already dead. Such is the beauty of the undeath in our world. That's what I seek to bring, the beauty and power that is the unfeeling and merciless undeath, that will liberate out souls and render our emotions useless, allowing us to focus on more, important things."
