Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own.

In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins.

There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free.

Kona stalked through the swamp with a look of distaste on his face. It was not that he minded the danger that surrounded this place; in fact he had already managed to make one of the dangers into a trophy. The elf was clueless as to who would be angered by the killing of the swamp’s native beasts, and the fact that said person considered Kona’s idol a pet.

There was a shuffling nearby, and after a quick glance to ensure his target was of a decent size he hurled the spear into its side. The beast wailed and writhed in death spasms before succumbing to the blade and the cold grip of death. Kona stalked over to the corpse and yanked the spear from its side. He knelt down by the thing’s mouth and pried a fang from it. Kona then held it up to what little light there was and gave a soft whistle; it sure was a beauty.

It was time already, pity. He really did need to work on a better way to train the mutts. After that he could have more of his pets foaming beautifully. Before Vernon could get to the creature Vernon was warned of an intruder, A wild elf by the smell of it but still different from the elves of Norwood. He was on the outskirts of the marsh, but so was Rabid. Vernon decied to greet the intruder before the elf got the chance to use his brain and flee to the safety of the woods. The sleigh was the best means of getting there swiftly, but it was deeper in the marsh. Vernon called to the bats, but Vernon would be able to reach the elves befoer they got there. Vernon followed the scent by him self jumping and swinging from tree to tree with acrobatic grace.

He came upon Rabid in time to see the elf try to play his hand at mortician and denist. Quirky. A bit more interesting than the other elves. Vernon figured he might decided to keep him as a pet. Made perferct since for him to be made a pet. Vernon needed a new pet to replace the slain beast, even though the foam-mouthed canine was going to be brutatly murdered before night's end anyways. "Who are you to dare and intrude upon my marsh and even have the audacity to hunt within it," Vernon boomed from his tree top perch that overlooked the elf. Now the question was what was the best manner to decided whether to keep or kill the elf.

Kona admired the tooth again before fashioning it to his necklace with little ceremony. He jingled then necklace and took pride in the number of teeth that were strung about it. Many appeared to belong to animals, vicious carnivores at that, but then a number of human teeth almost equaled the beasts in number. The elf’s ears twitched when he heard sounds about him. It signaled the arrival of another and the voice quickly reached him.

The elf grinned as he was questioned by the rodent, “I’m Kona… wish you had a nicer pelt…” it gave the clear intention that he was mildly interested in a bout and all that kept him from striking out immediately was the rodent’s fur. The smell he could get rid off, but years in this swamp would probably have tarnished it far too much to clean. He sighed and, with his spear dug in slightly at the dirt underfoot, leaned against the weapon.

Vernon took interest in the teeth along the elf's necklace. He could somewhat identify most of the small beasts and some of duely noted that some of the teeth were humaniod in origin. He'd have to take a closer look to better identify them, but Vernon was still interested enough that it wasn't likely the elf would end up eaten. It was quite notably clear that the elf needed a good beating though when the creature spoke. He'd dared to both insult his fur and and reffer to it as a pelt! Such Insolence! Nothing was wrong his his fur, Vernon thought while ingoring isn't vile odor, and the collection muck, blood and dead parasites. "I think I'm going to pull a tooth or two out of your mouth," Vernon grinned as he leapt down from the tree while drawing his blade. He could have assulted the elf from a distance and waited till the fool threw the spear and left himself disarmed, but he was moreso in the mood to give his blade some action. He began casting a spell immediatly afterword and would likely finished before the elf closed the gap between them, if the elf were to take to immediate action.

Kona’s grin widened at the acceptance of his challenge. He gave a quick prayer to the war god which held more in common with a war chant than anything. The elf bounced back a step before recovering the distance as he began to throw the elegant spear he held. It was another step, muscles shifted, and the spear was thrown hurtling through the air right towards Vernon.

Kona noticed the casting of a spell and he immediately began evasive maneuvers as he closed the distance to his target. Even without his spear he was still quite deadly, not that he would be without the weapon for long. However, that was a card up his metaphorical sleeve that he wanted to keep from pulling as long as possible.

Kona grinned at the threat, good yet also annoying. A pet that gave up too easily was of little use, yet having it at this stage meant that Vernon had to beat past it... without killing Kona no less. Vernon struck the incoming spear with a deft blow veering the weapon of course and into the muck. The Vernon's backpack exploded with life as the spear sunken into the ground and bats simultaneously spewed forth from Vernon's backpack. They'd wouldn't win the fight, but they'd be a tireless distraction for the elf, not to mention they would no doubt go unguarded against Kona's back. Course Mitz would help by slowly bringing energy from Kona to Vernon as the vampire bat sucked the elf's blood.

Done with his spell Vernon keep his free hand ready. The unarmed elf was drawing in and likely favored unarmed combat. A dagger or claw would be of much more use if they ended getting that close, though the swarm of bats might completely unravel the elf's battle plan.

Kona’s eyes darted around to take in all that was occurring. His ears were also listening to whatever sounded, in particular the flapping of bat wings. He growled against the use of such tricks and it went against his warrior’s code of honor. The elf was expecting a one on one fight rather than the use of any outside help. It wasn’t going to stop him though and he quickly recalled his weapon. It took a brief moment due to how deeply it was embedded in the muck, but it quickly returned once it was free.

The elf grinned at his little trick and forced him to break his charge to evade the pestering bats. They bit at him and caused pinpricks of pain wherever they bit, but he was able to regain his momentum. The elf gave a battle cry and he stabbed forwards towards the rat with the spear.

Kona's charge was broken, but only briefly. At least he had the sense to focus on Vernon and not the bats swirling about. He did managed to apparently pull out the little secret of the spear a bit early than the elf may have liked. It wasn't an extremely noteworthy enchantment though. So it could be called back to his hand, it would help the creature much when his hand was completely paralyzed. "Show me your best," Vernon called out as Kona neared.

Fighting against a good spear-wielder was an issue though. Keeping a safe distance away meant you would be able to attack. Best way to handled them was up close and personal. Vernon decided to use Kona's momentum to his own advantage. Vernon also charged and struck Kona's spear once more to try and push it to the side and out of risk of impaling him. With their momentum each of them would still be drawn closer. Vernon's free claw was ready for that moment. He'd only get one shot, if that before the elf drew back and regained a distance where the spear could effectively be used. A good swipe stomach held the opportunity of disemboweling the elf, but Vernon doubted he would have the elf in close enough for dramatic wound.

Kona eyed Vernon as the rat made a charge of his own. Anticipating that he would try to close into a rage where his spear was not nearly as effective, the elf began to back off. However the rat made up the distance too quickly and escaped his striking capacity. This was of little concern to Kona; only that the fight would take longer at this stage registered to him.

The elf let his spear be diverted, as all he could do with it at such a range would be to beat at the rat with the shaft. He preferred other means in that regard. Kona lashed out with a kick aimed towards Vernon’s midsection. If it hit, he would both use it to propel himself back to a better spear range and also knock the rat to the ground.

Vernon's swipe with his claw missed, but not by much, but what was worse was that the reckless attack left himself quite open to attack and that opening was taken advantage of with a swift kick. Vernon growled as he stumbled backwards, yet regained his balance quickly enough that he didn't fall. It was enough time for the elf to back off unfortunately. How annoying that his haste had accomplished nothing but a blow to his own gut. He might have to be more careful in the future.

Vernon's free hand pulled the Flea off of his belt. He attempted to pull off another spell before his opponent could make his next attack. This one would much more than an annoyance and a distraction. Time was on Vernon's side and should Vernon feeling like calling, so was the entire marsh, yet for now Vernon felt like handling the little brat himself.

Kona shifted as he began to anticipate what the smelly rat was trying to do this time. He smelled magic in the air and grew rather suspicious. Magic was like voodoo to him, and he was never comfortable around it. This suspicion would only be remedied by the elimination of the magician, and in this case that was Vernon.

While the rat was distracted with his spell casting Kona took aim and threw his spear again. If it missed again, it was of little concern and if the rat managed to pull off his spell Kona would be in a much better position to dodge. Spears, while effective as weapons, can be so hindering to one’s agility at times. When it came to evading a spell aimed for him, he’d prefer to maximize his evasive tendencies which he could now do. The elf made a move for the three, and planned to take to its branches as soon as a spell came his way.
