Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own.

In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins.

There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free.

Aiden's body trembled slightly as Vernon came closer, wielding a wicked looking weapon. He made a silent prayer as his brain deciphered what would happen next. Heavens above, give me strength, he thought, beads of sweat pouring down his face. For a split second, he thought about casting a powerful spell and ending it all then and there. Even if Vernon didn't die, at least the pain would be over. However, the thought was erased by the sudden appearance of pain once again as Vernon stabbed his weapon into the skin above Aiden's jaw.

This time, the elf couldn't contain himself and his piercing screams filled the air. However, the elf didn't stop there. If Vernon was forcing him to speak, then he'd simply use it to his advantage. "Monster!" he shouted as blood ran freely down his cheek. The elf felt drained, but his anger became a source of determination which helped him concentrate on the task at hand.

"Enflammez!" the elf shouted through the pain, dropping his head tiredly afterward. His chin dropped heavily between his shoulders as he waited for his fire spell to take effect. The ambient temperature dropped slowly as Aiden put all he had into the attack, simply aiming at the ground below him. He knew that the attack would be powerful enough to kill him...and perhaps hurt Vernon quite badly in the process as well. The blood continued to drain from his wounds, making the elf feel lightheaded and his limbs heavy. Either way, he wouldn't have much longer here anyway; he'd either die from blood loss or from Vernon's treachery. And the elf would much rather end the suffering now than leaving his fate in the hands of a madman.

"I'm done playing," Aiden said, his voice a weak, yet taunting whisper. "I'd suggest you move before you become a scorched rat this day. . ."

Monster. Vernon laughed at the word. It was an insult compared to what he truly was. Vernon's amusement with the word though was short lived thanks to the following word. Obviously magic and the sudden normalcy that returned to the air's temperature emphasized that. The Spell couldn't be too strong. The elf was restrained and hadn't tried anything yet. Still unlike most of his victims the leech had yet to taste him, a foolish mistake. Weak or not Vernon had had enough of fires for the day. He called upon the waters of his marsh but it was possible it would not come soon enough to save the elf, but even if that were the case the elf would have the pleasure of boiling and drowning in his last moments alive. With any luck the elf would be alive afterwords and there would be a little bit of play time left with the elf, though not much as the elf was already in a drained state.

Not wishing to burnt up by whatever attack the mage had formed or swept up by the wave of mucky water and leeches, Vernon Backflipped out of the way. After landing on his feet he figured he was safe enough distance from whatever the pathetic little elf could muster. It was not time to see if the elf was going to boil alive or if his final attempt to fight back was washed away. Vernon hoped for the later, but the former would at least prove amusing to watch.

Aiden's breathing slowed to a crawl as he made a silent prayer. His mind was slightly unfocused as he prepared for death. This isn't exactly how I expected it to end, the elf thought as he waited. The air began to heat dramatically as the smell of brimstone began to fill the air. A quick glance down revealed a circle of red growing above the marshy surface.

Vernon's sudden movement drew Aiden's eye, but not for very long. Once the elf realized what Vernon was doing, he only chuckled softly. "There's no point," he muttered weakly, "I'm obviously not aiming for you anymore." Aiden looked up, a fire blazing in his eyes as he continued. "While our time together was quite fun, I'm afraid I'll have to end it for now. Too bad I couldn't take you with me...maybe next time."

Aiden looked down, noticing the odd movements of the marsh below. His rather rudimentary knowledge of magic led him to believe that in Vernon's last move, he might have used a water spell in order to stop Aiden's fiery plan. But, unfortunately for both, it was too late. Goodbye, was the elf's last thought as flame engulfed his body and his bonds. True to form, the elf suffered silently as the flames ate away his clothing, his hair, and finally his skin.

An acrid smell filled the air as the elf burned. This wasn't helped by the musky smell of the wave of swamp water and marsh life that eventually crashed into the burning mass. The force involved snapped the smoldering bonds holding Aiden's body in the air. The flames were extinguished, but their work was already done. The elf's corpse floated in the murky water as a still silence engulfed the marsh. His charred body looked like another piece of debris floating in the marsh. . .
