Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own.

In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins.

There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free.

It was almost as if the elf was prepared for the attack all along. His luck was notably anooying. Vernon was hoping to not see his attack blocked, but the elf did much more than that. The elf had the audacity to kick Vernon's whipping hand! It didn't hurt much, but Vernon growled loudly and released his grip on the whip. It wouldn't provied much use in close combat anyways. The clawed hand on the other hand would work well under these conditions. Just as Vernon's hand was being kicked, Vernon's tail licked out for the elf's other leg, hoping to bite into the leg with blade. A direct hit would likely be enough to throw the elf off balance and with the continued pressure from Vernon's blade the elf would likely topple over backwards. Vernon's free hand joined in pushing the blade as Vernon roared. If that didn't work, Vernon always had a few more tricks up his sleeve or moreso in his bag. The bag stirred with life as rodents poked their heads out of various holes in the bag.

Aiden found that his attack had worked as well as could be imagined in the situation. His kick sent his opponent's whip to the marsh's surface as their contest became a match of blades and speed. However, Aiden quickly found himself overbalanced as he parrying Vernon's sword strike.

Damn, the elf thought as he finally noticed Vernon's tail whipping in from the side. He grimaced as Vernon's small blade lodged deep into his leg. It's likely poisoned. This fight isn't looking any better I don't think. With both the weakness in his leg and Vernon's overpowering strength, Aiden soon found himself falling backwards towards the murky marsh mud. Keeping his right hand on his blade, Aiden raised his now free left hand and quickly mouthed the incantation for another spell.

"Naur-koron!" he shouted, summoning a fireball to his hand as he hit the marshy mud. He loosed the spell, hoping that the small distance between the two fighters could provide yet another opportunity for an opening. Nonetheless, Aiden knew he wasn't exactly in a position to take advantage of such an opportunity should one come up. What magic he had was likely dangerously drained and the poison that was likely surging through his veins would reduce his physical strength quickly.

Not good. . .

"Timberrrrr!" The flora boomed in unison as the elf fell. Vernon was able to pull out the dagger before the elf fell down, though it would have possibly been better to have left it in. The fall would have pressed the blade in deeper cauing more pain, but probably not enough to disable the leg entirely. Didn't matter now as the Elf was quite at his mercy.

Vernon acted quickly as the elf fell drawing forth a spell now that only one hand was needed on the blade, little did he know that the elf was taking advantage of this final oppurtunity to save himself as well. A thin needle was called to Vernon's finger tip and launched out at Aiden just after Aiden released his fireball. The needle containted a poison that would cause paralysis to flow throughAiden's body. It would only last breifly, but in the few seconds it did last Vernon could have the elf disarmed and tied up. Unfortunately with the fairly quick casting the poison might slowly take it's full effect though if that was the case he would still have to combat the grasping muck.

Vernon was quite surprised to see the fireball. It was too close to get out of the way and too late to try and counter it with aything even if Vernon had something to counter it with. The hot flames struck Vernon in the face and he growled in pain. The smell of singed fur was not a pleasent one, particularly not his own. The flames even caught his whiskers on fire and that hurt like hell. This elf was gonna pay! Fortuneately Vernon had the sense to notice the water was still at his beck and call. The mass of water that had been pooling where the elemenal had died launched itself at the pair in a large wave as Vernon swatted at the flames on his face.

Aiden grimaced as the small dagger was pulled violently from his leg, but refused to let the pain show. He grinned in grim satisfaction as his fireball wreaked more damage than he hoped. Perhaps I can launch another attack, the elf thought defiantly as he struggled to lift himself from the heavy mud. The smell of singed fur hung heavily in the area, causing Aiden to cough hard as he attempted to get back to his feet.

Suddenly, he felt a small prick on his right shoulder just above the armpit. At first, he thought that he'd simply been dealt another glancing blow by Vernon's dagger. However, closer inspection revealed a small, metal needle protruding from his upper chest. Wonderful, Aiden thought, certain that this needle held some sort of poison. His window of opportunity would be short indeed, but luckily, the space between the two fighters was small. His counterattack wouldn't have to travel far.

Raising his leg, Aiden aimed a vicious kick at Vernon's groin and prepared to strike. But before he could launch the attack, a sudden wall of wet muck assaulted him from all sides. Damn, he still held that attack! Aiden thought grimly, remembering the collection of water that Vernon had created earlier. Now, the wet attack had stolen Aiden's final chance for a counterattack.

As Aiden flailed in the brackish water, he could feel his right arm slowly numbing as the poison began to take effect. Thinking quickly, Aiden switched his sword to his left hand, hoping that he could at least defend himself for what few precious seconds remained. . .

The foul waters brought instant relief for all but his whiskers. His whiskers were still in pain, yet notably less with the flames doused. Now at least he could turn his full attention back on the elf before him. Vernon roared and shortly after large squirrel-like creatures emerged from Vernon's backpack. Vernon didn't wait for them to act and immediately swiped his blade at the elf's. "What's the matter? Scared stiff?," Vernon taunted as the blade cut through the air. It was mostly to gauge when the paralysis took it's full effect, but it also served as a distraction from the large musfa that were winding around the elf with rope. If Vernon disarmed the elf in the attack it most certainly would serve as icing on the cake.

The elf wouldn't be the first poor soul the rodents tied up and certainly wouldn't be the last. The nimble creatures moved swiftly and would have the elf's paralyzed arm tied in no time. Vernon wondered if the swift noiseless little devils could get both arms before the poison took its full effect. It was always amusing to see one best in their best efforts, though using poisons to do the work was often easier as well as more fun.

(bleh a bit short, sorry)

Aiden wobbled a little, realizing that the poison was spreading relatively quickly. Then I won't wait for him to attack, the elf thought, preparing himself for another attack.

"What's the matter? Scared stiff?" Vernon taunted.

"Not quite," Aiden muttered as he charged forward, raising his own blade to block Vernon's strike. "Take-" Aiden suddenly stopped, both midcharge and mid-yell as he suddenly noticed a pulling sensation at his feet. "What in the heck is this?" he muttered angrily to himself as he noticed a group of small creatures crawling across his lower body and spreading quickly.

The elf tried to resist, hoping to wiggle free from his bonds, but to no avail. These squirrel-like creatures were surprisingly quick for their size, doing their binding work in a short time. Within tens of seconds, Aiden was completely immobilized from a combination of the poison the bonds that now bound his limbs.

It's over, Aiden thought glumly. Despite the realization, the elf refused to give up, preparing to put everything he had into another spell. However, as he tried to concentrate, he again felt the poison's effects. No magic either? Aiden thought, this time feeling true despair. Well, that's just great. . .

"What? You've never seen rope before?" Vernon snickered in reply as he pulled the sword out Aiden's hands. The fellow wouldn't have much use for it in the few remaining hours of his life. Vernon was impressed with their quick work and thought they most certainly deserved a reward. Easiest thing to do was give then a piece of what they helped to capture. "I think that may be a record, kiddies. Each of you will get a finger and maybe a toe," Vernon snickered to his pets as he ran a clawed finger along Aiden's cheek just hard enough to barley cut the skin.

"What fun events should we try next?" Vernon asked as he made sure the rope was securely tied off. The elf wouldn't likely be able to answer right away, but the paralysis would part in a few seconds. Vernon pondered going about playtime here, but no it was more fun out in the dry islands by the deeper marsh waters. Escape there was impossible.

"Oh, but first tell me your name of lost little elf, dishes taste so much better when they have names," Vernon cackled as he picked up the elf and tossed him in the back of the sleigh. Vernon got in the front of the sleigh as the bat driven sleigh took off through the air while his five musfa got int the back with the elf. The musfa sniffed around the elf trying to figure out which digits they would try and claim as their own.

"Break a leg," The plantlife called out before return to silence for the night. In this case it was literally meant and Vernon would not doubt get to it, most likely while the elf was a alive.

(ah and now the real fun will soon begin  )

As his bonds became tighter, Aiden's mind slowly drifted. He had fully given up, knowing by then just how futile further resistance was. Having used what magic he had in their encounter, the elf had finally run out of tricks. With his sword gone as well, there was truly nothing more to do but wait. So that's what he did--wait.

He said nothing as he was thrown into the back of Vernon's rather odd sleigh. Even when his captor asked for his name, Aiden kept his silence. I refuse to give you the satisfaction, you monster, the elf thought viciously. He bit his lip as the pain of his wounds began to set in once again. However, despite the pain, not one sound escaped his lips.

As the sleigh departed the marsh's surface, Aiden's mind drifted. The elf remembered the forest that had been his home for so long...a home that he'd also neglected in recent years.

A wave of regret washed over the elf as he realized that this might actually be the final time he'd see his beloved forest. Tears came unbidden to his eyes, but he still kept his silence. Heavens help me, he thought as the sleigh carried him to their unknown destination. . .

"Not speaking to me any more? That's alright I know how to loose your tongue," Vernon snickered when he noticed his captive was not at all intent on answering his host. Having goals in torture was always an interesting variance. IT was amusing how much torture was required to gain one's name. Nevertheless Vernon doubted the elf would last too long. Elves had poor constitutions and brittle bones, even the best minds cracked when these were taken advantage of.

It didn't take long for them to reach their destination. The bats were most eager to watch the playtime that was fated to ensue. "Don't cry little elf, we're already there," Vernon grinned as he wiped at the elf's tears with his dirty fingers before sticking them in his mouth. Vernon hopped out on to the island while a vine reached down for the elf and puled him into the air by the rope like a crane. The elf was swung in front of Vernon. The vile master of the marsh removed the elf's boots and decided to start there first.

"Tell me your name kid and this will be a lot more pleasant," Vernon lied in a sing song voice as he trailed his dagger's blade along the sole of the elf's foot. Vernon didn't bother to wait for a response from him before turning his attention to the five eager little Musfa. "Who wants the big toe?" Vernon grinned as he slowly began press the dagger into the toe while holding it firmly with the other hand to minimize the troubles of squirming. The Musfa jumped up and down and made loud chirps and chitterings of joy.

Slow amputations were the best, yet Vernon often was too impatient to make them last too long. "This little piggy went to the market," Vernon grinned as he sawed through obstacle that was bone. With the bone out of the way the rest would be smooth sailing.

Aiden continued to say nothing as their sleigh journey came to an end. I wonder what hell we've stepped into now, the elf thought as they landed on a small marsh island. He was taken roughly from the sleigh and pulled high into the air by unseen creatures. The elf could only assume that these were the same creatures that had tied him up in the first place.

What are these things? Aiden thought, having never seen such vile things in all his travels. I swear that if by some miracle I can come back here, I will burn this vile marsh to the ground with whatever magic I can call upon. I officially hate this place. In all honesty, the threat was a thinly veiled attempt to quiet the fear and despair that raged in Aiden's mind and heart.

That fear and despair only increased as Vernon toyed with a dagger at his feet. He'll have to do better than that if he wants information, Aiden thought doggedly, remembering that he had faced worse than that from his own master long ago. However, he wasn't prepared for the pain that surged through his body once Vernon started cutting.

He bit his lower lip hard, drawing blood but saying nothing as Vernon commenced with his dirty work. . .

Vernon sniffed the amputated toe and then licked it. He then took a moment to lick the bleeding stump before tossing the toe to his pets. Many would would have found the act revolting, as no doubt did the elf who had his foot tickled with Vernon's tongue, yet it was no big deal to Vernon. He dined on every part of the body delighting in even the most vile of parts, though it was unsurprising for one who looked at poisons like candy and rot like sugar. The elf tasted delicious, yet so did most elves.

While the pets fought over the large toe Vernon turned his attention to the elf, who still seemed intent on silence, which would aid him none at all. Vernon could at least pretend to be sympathetic if the man screamed and howled like a wimp. He wasn't sure which way was more fun. "Oh, little elf. Don't be such a tease. You taste simply delicious. A dish so fine must surely have an exquisite name," Vernon remarked before putting his mouth over the remaining toes on the foot. His tongue rubbed against the toes as Vernon slowly clamped down on the digits. Perhaps he should have saved the feet for last, they were so delicious, delectable, and sweaty. A symphony of flavor Vernon savored as he severed their connection to elf and supported the symphony with a chorus of crackling bones.

Vernon chewed for a bit, continuing the sound of crunching bone. "Simply Delicious, but where are my manners? Aren't you hungry? All that magic using must have really worn you done," Vernon grinned while still chewing the toes. They obscured his words a bit, but he didn't expected anything but a scared or disgusted reaction if any out of the elf. Vernon pondered if he was in the mood to share.

OOC: Oh, that's just disgusting lol.

BinC: Aiden's body was wracked by pain as his feet seemed as if they were on fire. The amputations were cruel and brutal, but still the elf kept his silence. Blood was now pouring freely from his lower lip as he bit down to both keep his silence and his sanity.
He risked a quick look down, noting how much joy Vernon was having in this little game he was playing.

Aiden couldn't help the sick feeling that he had as he looked upon his captor. He vainly struggled against his bonds, but to no avail. The pain seemed unbearable as the elf's mind began to wander, seeking any refuge from this torture. What manner of evil being is this? the elf thought angrily, wondering just how anyone could take such pleasure in the pain of another.

"Simply Delicious, but where are my manners? Aren't you hungry? All that magic using must have really worn you done."

Finally, Aiden could take it no more. The sight was simply too disgusting for his psyche and stomach to handle. The elf took a great bit of pleasure as he vomited everywhere, the blood from his lip mixing with the smelly liquid. That might be my last hurrah, Aiden thought, amused in his increasing delusion. . .

( That's just Vernon ^_^ )

Vernon could clearly see what was going to happen next. It was clearly written on the elf's face. Poor delicious creatures were known for their weak constitutions, so it was little surprise. Vernon grinned in anticipation as the volcano got ready to blow it's top, but he didn't have very long to wait at all. Vernon opened his mouth as the vomit spit out and caught some of it in his mouth while the rest was caught by his face and the ground below. He chewed silently as he pondered over the flavors and ran his claws gently up and down the soles of the Elf's feet. He was good at guessing what people had for their last meal, though it was harder if it had been in the stomach longer.

"Blueberry muffin and milk," Vernon said definitively, wondering if it would warrant any response from the elf. Probably not, though he didn't offer much room for reaction before moving on. Vernon stood up and quickly grabbed the elf's left ear. "Come on now, I know you hear me," Vernon snickered as he ripped the ear of in a swift motion. Ears were more fragile than many knew. Just flesh and some weak cartridge held them on. Not much force was required to pull them off. Still, it was enough force to have the elf swinging back and forth afterward.

Vernon bit the ear in half as he peer as the bleeding hole in Aiden's head. "Just as I suspected. Nothing's wrong with your ears, Perhaps I should check your tongue," Vernon snickered, pondering how much he wanted to wait for the elf to speak up.

OOC: ...

BinC: Aiden couldn't bear to watch as Vernon actually ate his vomit. The elf was tempted to do again from the sight alone, but refused to give his tormenter the pleasure...or the sustenance. What a disgusting creature, the elf thought again, his anger boiling at the thought of such pure evil existing in such a way. How on earth can such a thing be allowed by the heavens?

He closed his eyes tightly, trying in his delirium to wish away the pain. However, he knew that such a wish was very unlikely to become real. What a shame that he's dragging this out. How uncouth...perhaps if I tell him that, he'll get this over with

Suddenly, Aiden's thoughts were broken by a searing pain on the left side of his head. His eyes opened wide in shock as he felt blood pouring down his cheek and splattering on the ground below. The monster's ripped off an ear! Aiden realized, silently screaming in pain, but refusing to let a sound escape his lips. However, his blood boiled furiously. While there was little he could do in such a state, his fury manifested as magical strength.

While he refused to utter a word, Aiden simply shouted out what he wanted in his mind. You'd better kill me, you brute. If you don't, I hope you burn to a crisp! The elf's eyes glowed a deep red as he concentrated hard, releasing his fury into the air around him and raising the temperature steadily. Soon enough, it would reach a scorching heat and Vernon would either have to finish this quickly or endure a little pain of his own. . .

He still managed to only muffle his screams?!? There was a delightful remedy to that problem and Vernon didn't mind using it at all. The conjured heat seemed to suggest that the elf was fond of the idea too. If it kept increasing it would become quite the annoyance, particularly given his filthy coat of fur. Still it was nothing Vernon couldn't handle and the heat offered the opportunity for enough fun to make the encounter all the more fun. Vernon grasped the elf's head with one hand and played with his The Flea against elf's cheek. It was warm to the touch and seemed to be the origin of the heat, yet it was possible that the young fire was still vulnerable to his own medicine. If all went well the heated blade would burned the flesh in addition to cutting and delivering it's painful toxin. The poison would put a time limit on the encounter, but it was likely the man would bleed to death first, though the the moistness of the poison would make the pain from the heat all the more worse.

"Awww... We're supposed to be having fun," Vernon said solemnly as he slowly pressed the blade through the cheek. "Why.... So.... Serious?," Vernon asked slowly as he drew the blade across the elf's cheek and towards the lip until a massive grin consumed the right side of the fire mage's face. Now there would be no more muffled screams. The elf wouldn't be able to close the hole in his face so his screams and and wild curses conjured would not be free to rend the air.

"Looking better already," Vernon snickered before pushing the rest of the ear through the hole in the face and moving on the carving out the other side. He was already sweating. If the mage could still managed to keep it up then he might have to venture out to do something about it.
