Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own.

In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins.

There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free.

Yaksha laughed softly, shaking his head. "It CERTAINLY wouldn't hurt, dear! You may have bathed, in the lake, I imagine, but when's the last time you had a warm bath? Or used soap to clean yourself off?" He gave the sort of grin a cat would've been expected to give a cornered mouse, and he waved at the stairway. "First door on the left; try to enjoy yourself up there. I've got a lot more to cook, so take as long as you like, I'll be here." He turned back to the steaks, turning them in the pan as he began to hum. The smell of sizzling meat was almost unbearable now.

Yaksha turned from the bowl again, reaching into the icebox to pull out a large stone bowl, which he lifted with surprising ease. He set it on the countertop, and a glance inside revealed a brownish liquid, most likely soup. He turned to her, and smiled toothily, waving to it. "We could always use a little appetizer while the steaks cool down. Try to enjoy your bath as much as you can, and call if you need me."

  • It seemed pathetic, the answer she conjured for him in her mind. She honestly couldn't remember the last time she had, it had been so long! That was one thing about extended youth that didn't do her any justice; he memory already wasn't exactly fabulous, and the fact she had lived over half a century did not help the matter. She chuckled lightly to herself as she innocently tucked another bit of her hair behind one pointed ear. "It has been a while, I will admit.. Okay, I suppose I will then." She couldn't help but feel the man had genuine sincerity with his words; she'd enjoy this bath. She smiled lightly, the smile continuing to her eye, which sparkled extravagantly.

She watched as he lifted the bowl with ease, and her brow raised. This man was not all that his outward appearance told, she knew that much. Behind his attractive visage was most likely a very powerful soul, one she knew she should be watchful of. But even still, she couldn't help but feel comfortable in that environment of his. She watched him, almost forgetting about the bath before he reminded her of it. She nodded to him and turned, heading in the direction of the bath as he had mentioned. She looked over her shoulder, however, both wondering if he'd be watching her as she left and also.. well, just because.

She crept into location, curious and cautious as she took it all in. She would soon find that the easiest task was removing her accessories and garb.. However she drew herself a bath, and found herself quite enjoying it. She loved swimming about in cool lake water, but warmth was a change she welcomed. And soap.. What a heavenly substance! She wished to take longer but chose not to, quickly dressing herself in her dark tunic and pants as she finished off. She chose to remove more of her "fancier" accessories from her rucksack, decorating her dreads, darkened from the water that remained about them, with gold and wooden beads, and a bit of dark red silk ribbon she had bartered from a travelling salesman a bit back. She also added all of her bangles, bracelets, and other accessories onto her wrists. She gathered all her remaining things, cleaning up what she needed before returning to the other room, where he hopefully still was.

Yaksha placed the stone bowl over the flame, setting the steaks aside to cool as he chuckled softly. "I do hope Raschagal has a good time tonight. I think she could use a few more happy memories with others." He looked up at the ceiling as he spoke, his eyes shifting into another plane of vision, as he watched her beginning to fill the bathtub with water. He nodded sagely, then turn away and dipped a finger into the soup. "Hmm...I think another minute will be fine. Soup and steaks seems like plenty for lunch. Think I'll make a salad for myself, as well..."

He opened the icebox a third time, and pulled out a small container full of mushrooms, red berries, and thick green lettuce. He grabbed a mushroom, popping it into his mouth and chewing furiously. "Yes, that's it. This is going to be a meal Raschagal will never want to finish." He laughed again, his voice drifting up to her happily. "Dear, the food is ready! Whenever you finish your bath, feel free to come down!"

  • As she drifted downstairs toward where she had left Yaksha, the sweet smell of the delicacies within found its way to her nose. Immediately she could feel her stomach move about in protest, asking her why the heck she had not chosen more.. gourmet food to add to her collection in the past. Much of her diet consisted of small animals, fish, and plantlife. What he was dishing up was much more intricate and complicated than a simple hare cooked over a small fire she drew up, and boy did its scent give it justice?

With her things tucked under one arm, Raschagal finally returned. The smell of the dishes was even stronger up closer, and her mouth had already begun to water. It seemed that since meeting Yaksha, all of her senses had heightened somewhat.. She had become alert to his every movement as she watched, his every sound, and now.. Her sense of smell made her desire lurch forward, calling her out to the food almost. Boy, was she hungry!

"I have finished," she allowed herself to say, allowing herself to speak up more than she had before in his presence. "I thank you.. For allowing me." While her words were few and possibly not the most extravagant, she had complete sincerity in what she had said. She appreciated the fact he had taken her in, even if it was just for the day. It was good to know there were possible allies among her, even if she was not completely sure of his intentions just yet. But as time wore on, she begun to care less.

Yaksha turned away from the food, already digging into his salad with relish. He spoke quickly, between forkfuls, yet somehow he managed to keep food inside his mouth. "It's as much a pleasure for me, as it is for you. Your company is like a fresh breeze in this stale home. Your beauty makes this home seem positively drab in comparison, and yet I can't get enough of you. Come, sit, sit. We'll eat, and you can tell me more about yourself." He had devoured his salad already, and there was red juice around his chin, like blood.

The lich grabbed the steaks, gliding towards the table and placing the plates on it with lithe grace. He seemed to give off an air of competance in everything he did, as if he was a man used to success. He sat down, waving her towards another table and chuckling. His knife and fork seemed almost to materialize into his hands from the table, and he began to cut into his steak quickly, rolling his eyes and making noises of pure enjoyment with each bite. "Delicious." He stared at her from across the table, and something told the elf he wasn't referring to the food...

  • That was definitely a compliment, if she had ever heard one.. and she hadn't heard too many in her life time. When he compared her somehow beautiful appearance to his home she had to take a look around, to make sure he was referring to his own home, the place she had been in just before.. How could she be better than that? Her brow furrowed as the looked to him, and she clenched and unclenched her fists at her sides. It was odd, something she was not used to, but she could definitely get used to him. Giving him a look-over, she decided she could definitely get used to him! It was so unlike her, feeling that way.. But she was not complaining. "I don't have much to tell you. My life isn't very exciting at all, sadly.. It would be a boring tale to tell."

A small smile found its way to her lips without her knowledge, and she moved to take a seat. She was clean, at least; that meant she didn't need to worry about dirtying up his fine furnishing. Besides, he did say that it wasn't something she needed to worry about, didn't he? That seemed to calm her significantly. But even so, she felt so out of place in the home, while it was all so inviting. Her insecurities found their way to the surface, and she tried her hardest to hide her scars.. The worst one of all, as she thought it anyway, was always hidden. Her eye could not be seen. She was sure there were probably ways to fix it, but.. For some reason she didn't wish to.

Raschagal at first looked at the steak, taking it all in. She was actually going to eat STEAK! She was as giddy as a little girl, goosebumps raising up on her arms and her posture straightening as she prepared herself. She grabbed her cutlery as well, but paused, as she realized she didn't exactly know how to use them.. God, was she pathetic, and in front of Yaksha! She disgusted herself sometimes.. But still, she wanted to dig into that steak! She watched him cut at his for a moment, imitating him as he did so. She tried not to make it visible that she was purely imitating him, but she probably looked foolish anyhow.

As she was looking down his gaze went to her, and she caught it almost instantly. She smiled lightly, shifting in her seat. She got a vibe from his word, a simple word she thought had been directed at the steak purely.. She decided to actually take a bite, pressing her fork into a cut slice and popping it into her mouth. Immediately her sense of taste leapt for joy, and her smile widened as she chewed..

Yaksha had already eaten through his steak, and he pushed away the plate, chuckling wryly. He held both of his hands up, grinning as he said, "Well, that's it. Oh, and Ras, dear?" He leaned forward, his hands placed on the table as his face broke into a toothy smile. "You don't have to use silverware if you don't want to. I like a woman who knows what she likes, and I daresay manners are somewhat lost on a woman who's spent so much time by herself." He chuckled, and waved at the steak. "I'm sure you could tear that meat just fine with your teeth." A soft, hissing chuckle escaped his lips, and the glint of twin fangs was just slightly perceivable.

He leaned back in his chair, murmuring softly as his fingers began to make odd signs under the table. His grin remained as wide as ever, and as he finished casting his spell, another wave of heat washed over Raschagal, almost enough to knock her out of her chair. Yaksha looked almost hungry now, his voice resonating with something that caused the heat inside of her to writhe and almost black out all rational thought. "If you'd like, I can show you my bedroom after you eat. I'm sure you'd favor a short nap..."

  • Raschagal paused her eating for a moment after he mentioned how.. well, how she normally ate. She was not a very pretty eater on most occasions, not in the slightest bit; she usually gnawed on the bones of her latest meal and tore away flesh from them. She let her wrists sit at the edge of the table, utensils still in hand and slightly raised from the surface. Well, what could she do? She didn't want to look like an animal, holding the nicely-seasoned steak with her hands and gnawing at it like she had no taste at all. No, she actually wanted to impress this man (for some reason), and she knew that would not be how. "Well that wouldn't be very lady-like of me at all--"

He grinned, exposing in the slightest bit a pair of fangs.. As a result she set down her cutlery, rethinking the whole thing. Did he want to see if she would do it? She probably would have, if, after a pause from thinking over the matter of hand, she hadn't felt a wave of sensation overcome her. Raschagal sunk down into the chair, her hands flying to grip the back of the chair. Her elbows were bent back in such a manner that seemed almost impossible to do so; yet she was different, having acquired a fine flexibility over the years. She watched him, her free eye wide, and she bit at the tip of her tongue behind her lips.

Nap.. she thought to herself, churning the word about in her mind as she processed it. She eased in the chair, her hands sliding down the back to grip at the actual seat. She straightened her back as well. Golden gaze remained locked on him as she nodded. "That.. would be nice." She fought back a yawn that randomly found its way to the back of her throat. Her mind was playing tricks on her, it had to be.

Yaksha smiled evilly, and waved at her plate, his voice almost drilling into her head. "Finish your steak, dear. You'll need plenty of food so you can survive on squirrel and rabbit when you go back in the wild. Unless you'd prefer to stay here for a time. I'm a very fair man, I don't ask for much if you want to stay here." He pushed away from the table, grabbing his plate and taking it to the sink as he continued to talk. "Just make sure you and your room are presentable, and help me clean this home if I may need to do something. Other than that, you may have free reign of my place."

He returned quickly, looming over her even as he fell into his chair once more. His eyes seemed almost to drink her up, his gaze not even attempting to hide its lascivious nature. "You know...I'm a little tired myself. If you'd like, we could both go to bed together; it's got plenty of room." His eyes almost bored into her spirit, daring her to turn him down.

  • Raschagal readied herself to tear into her steak, a whiff of its delicious scent finding its way back to her snout. She paused when he mentioned squirrel and rabbit, two things she actually had very often out "in the wild".. Staring at the steak, she wasn't liking her lifestyle too terribly. For seventy years she had missed out on such delicacies; all because she, for one, was naturally drawn to the forest, and also because she was abandoned by her stupid mother. She sighed mentally, running the tip of her tongue against the front of her teeth, her lips still together. She looked up when he mentioned her staying with him, and the corners of her mouth raised somewhat, showing that she liked the idea. No hesitation showed, though there was a part deep down that quivered with it, hidden behind a new wave of excitement. "You'd let me stay here? But we've only been acquaintances for..." She paused again, her eye drifting down to her plate momentarily before it raised, her chin remaining lowered. "..not very long at all."

As time wore on, the idea of a nap got increasingly appealing. She stretched a moment, arching her back forward, at the same time puffing out her chest as her muscles tightened. Her eye caught his expression and she slumped back into her normal posture, her gaze locked on that exact expression. She gulped, not wanting to exactly deny his proposition.. But at the same time, goosebumps rose on her arms. She was nervous. "Well.. It's your bed.."

Yaksha rose from his chair again, his grin almost demonic as his hand went to her wrist and closed tightly around it. He lifted her bodily, his voice husky and soft. "Oh, my dear, that doesn't matter in the least. In fact..." He leaned within an inch of her, the scent of blood and jasmine drifting from him. "You love me, Raschagal. You love me so much, it's all you can think about when we're together. There's nothing in this world you wouldn't do for me..." His words seemed to fill her world, and his eyes locked onto hers, sucking out her will as his words rang out, soft and calming.

"You love your master, and you have since you first met him. He keeps you safe, clothed, happy, and he gives so much more than what he takes. Nothing he asks is too much, and everything he does is in your best interest. Saying no to your master is as unthinkable as saying no to growing older, or to gravity. Your master loves you, and only wants you to be happy." His words carved a path through her mind, like water through a valley, and he finished by running a finger down her cheek and across her chin. "Now...let's go take a look at that bed."

  • Raschagal's innards sank when he arose again, her teeth clenching together. Her gaze followed him as he walked to her, and it fell to her wrist briefly when he grasped it. As he began to speak she could feel every muscle of her upper body tighten, and though her face was generally emotionless her one good eye told it all. She was completely entranced by the words he was saying, and unknown to her that was how it was supposed to be. Everything he said about her sunk in and she felt it with every fiber of her being. She loved this man. He was her master. She was, more or less, his slave.. Raschagal had been under his spell this entire time, and yet she had no idea just what the spell really was. All she knew was that she loved him.

As he continued, speaking of the things he did for her, she got chills up and down every limb and her spine, and her heart leapt from her chest. Everything he was saying was completely changing her, and she had no idea why. It was all a blur in a sense. She wasn't entirely sure of some things anymore.. All that she was sure of was her lust for her master's affection, as her love for him rose beyond thought. It was almost unthinkable.

The entire time she was silent, his orders sinking right into her flesh. As his finger moved across her chin she let it raise, her eyes narrowing in a somewhat sultry manner. She had no real idea of anything he was plotting; she had lived out in a world, sheltered from human contact, before she came to her master. With a gulp, she prepared herself. Raschagal lifted herself from the seat, standing at her full height -- which, thanks to her genetics, wasn't very tall at all. "Yes, sir.."
