Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own.

In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins.

There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free.

Aether Draka had decided to try and find out where Vernon actually lived and to her surprise she was pointed to the swamps. Apparently there were many rumors about a giant rat in the swamps and AD found it funny that in all of her visits to the swamp, including the one where she had first met Yaksha, she had never crossed paths with the creature. She wondered why that was as she shadowjumped to a nice place fairly deep in the swamp. It was into the branches of a large tree, it's roots creating it's own island. She wasn't far from the forest area with all the spiders. She had found a few passages into the lands claimed by the Dark Elves in there.

AD shrugged and hopped from the higher branches to a root that rose high above the muck below. She didn't make a sound when she did it and she rose to her feet then to look around. It was getting dark very quickly, the sun already hidden behind the treetops, even though it hadn't passed the horizon yet. Turin poked his head out of the bag at AD's hip and crawled out and up to her shoulder. <Should I look?> he offered and AD grinned at the fly dragon and nodded. She then moved back into the shadow of the tree and knelt down before disappearing completely in the shadows.

Turin zipped among the trees as he looked for the large rat known as Vernon. Fireflies flickered in the early evening air as night slowly made it's decent over Imythess.

A familiar scent came to Vernon's nose, Lynth's number two. She must have teleported as the scent was much too strong for her to be far. He wondered if it was by chance or watchful eye that she teleported so close, but there was little he could do to find out. Vernon followed her scent while masking his own, he certainly didn't need to be too offensive with her granted she was in charge with Lynth vanished. He'd have to gain his good standing all over again, and it would no doubt be harder this time around.

The moved quickly through the trees, leaving more marks from his claws on their limbs. It was not long before she would have been in sight. Yet, she wasn't. "Did you come to play hide and seek, AD?" Vernon mused as he scanned the area. She had to be invisible or something like that. He'd sniff her out if he needed to, she could fool the eyes but not the nose.

Turin landed not far from Vernon, above the large rat's head. He pointed him out just as Vernon spoke, and felt silly about it then. AD grinned, finding it amusing. She leaned forward, sitting down on the root she had been perched on, swinging her feet off the edge, all the shadows leaving her form when she moved and through her will didn't try to cling back onto her when she had settled herself once more.

"Not right now Vernon. Perhaps another time." AD said with a grin, the look in her eyes saying that she wouldn't mind the challenge. She liked to know when she was doing well with her abilities to hide and knew that her hardest thing to beat was scent. She only knew one way to best that and that was to never emerge from the shadows once she shadow jumped. Because, if she moved, her scent would appear and would linger near. That would make her presence known to those who paid attention to that sort of thing.

"Actually, I'm a bit curious. Why was it that you were in Taras when I met Lynthaer there and how come you came with him to the guild hall? I was going to ask him, but we had other things that had to be dealt with last time a spoke with him and he is out of contact for the moment. So I decided I should ask you because you're a bit easier then Lynthaer to find. I wonder if it's another plane that he wanders off to..." She shook her head and then looked at Vernon expectantly.

Vernon disliked the confident look in eyes as she spoke or the sneaky grin that brought out the words. Summoning he could deal with but illusions were a notable bother, even if Vernon had his ways around them. Illusions fell to echolocation which showed the truth vividly. Even if she some how manage to mask her scent, her body would still give her away.

"I am Vernon, Master of the Marsh and Sovereign of the Sewers. I was in the remains of Taras because the remains of Taras are mine. All that's left of the city are the sewers and that library, though how the books avoided getting roasted eludes me. I was taking nap in my sewers when I chanced to hear Lynth speaking with that double-faced twit, called Yaksha. I saw the opportunity to help from their conversation. I convinced Lynthaer that I could be of assistance, and after speaking with you and Alice he dragged me through the plane of fire to the guild," Vernon explained from his perch upon the branches. It only skimmed the details and likely didn't hold all she wanted to know but it was a start.

"If you want more details on what was said I'll most certainly have to offer you a seat," Vernon grinned almost reluctantly. With a snap of his fingers a large dire bear appeared in front of AD, lazily laying on it's stomach. Warm fur would likely be more cozy than hard bark.

Aether Draka ignored the bear after it did nothing threatening. She grew up in the forests and what she found comfortable was not what most others found comfortable. "I already have a seat, but that you." She said, her feet still swinging off the edge of the root, a good distance from the water at the moment, most of the soil the tree had once grown in was long since eroded away by time while the tree simply pushed itself deeper and deeper into the ground.

"Yaksha. I should have killed him. At least he knows better than to return to the Choronzon Gebäude. I will kill him then, and he better stay dead or he will wish he had never lived to begin with." there was a dark venom in her tone, the words soft and calm, very matter of fact.

She shook her head then, the memory of Yaksha being pushed away from her mind so she could focus on what she was here for. "The Taras Library stands because I protected it during the attack. Most of what I have learned of Imythess I first found clues on in that place and I was not going to let something as trivial as hellfire and demons who don't even know what they are doing take it from me. I still go there frequently to make sure things do not get damaged. It holds too much information I have yet to learn yet. I would feel better if I could get the books moved safely away from there so they are better protected." She sighed, debating moving the books to the guild hall somewhere for a moment.

"So, what did you say that made Lynthaer believe you could be of assistance? Yaksha promised the same after all and how well that worked out is fairly clear."

"Suit yourself," Vernon said before shooing the bear into a puff of green smoke that dissipated harmlessly into the air around it. Vernon was quite pleased to hear he wasn't the only one annoyed by Yaksha, though sadly there wasn't much to be done about him any more. Even grinding his bones to a fine pulp seemed not to remedy his existence.

"Yaksha no doubt made a lot of promises he couldn't keep. He wanted attention, but he wanted it for free or at least for his bragging to get him the attention," Vernon replied. He decided not to comment on the library or her love for books. Vernon would have preferred to see the building burnt to the ground along with all the knowledge inside.

"Lynthaer was pleased by my work at the arena. It was clear I more or less had something I could teach. But my advice was more so what what him over. It's obvious the being that fooled Lynthaer is still looking for something. With the gods gone he would have no opposition, but still none of his plots have come to the surface. I would highly doubt a being of that power sacrificed his life to destroy the powers of the divine. Should we find what he seeks, the roles would no doubt be reversed and we would become the puppeteers. I would guess Lynthaer has left to take on the task of finding what the entity seeks himself. I was also able to inform him well of what he had missed while he was gone. That must have won over his trust even if minimally," Vernon explained as his tail swished to and fro like pendulum. The truth was good enough that a lie wasn't needed.

Aether Draka looked at him for a long moment in complete silence for a long moment, much longer then most would deem necessary. Her emerald eyes were locked on him and she didn't even blink as she looked at him. It was as if she was taking in every detain of him, not just the words that he said. Large rat or small, she had not been impressed with him what so ever. She didn't understand why Lynthaer had been. It made little sense to her.

After that span of time grew into an uncomfortable silence, AD finally spoke, blinking as she started to speak. "I don't see what that has to do with anything."

She stood and stretched, reaching her arms above her head as she did. Turin flew over to AD then, landing on her lower arm upside down and wrapping about it like some sort of arm bracer. He tucked his wings in tightly as her arms went back to her sides, turning the small fly dragon right side up. "I'm sorry, I really don't see how you could be useful with just that sort of information and skills. I need someone who can go where I can't and do what I can't do. I doubt you are that creature. Also, I'm in no need for an adviser I barely know, which is one of the reasons Yaksha didn't get very far in the guild before his removal. I already have someone who can give me advice when I need it and who, I'm sure, knows a lot more then you."

She was surprised that Vernon honestly thought, with how pissed off Lynthaer was about the entire situation, that he hadn't gone out to destroy something. Part of her wished she could have gone with. No, she had taken on the task of finding out what that dark and sinister being was up to. How dare that thing pull such a stunt on them, on Lynthaer. A flicker of anger shown in her eyes for just a moment before it was gone, like it never had been there. She offered a smile, one that lacked the falseness many like her often had, "If you have nothing to offer the Divshatten, I'm afride I will have to request that you do not show up in the Choronzon Gebäude. It's a living thing, so I'm sure it will tell me if you do show..."

He wanted to stab her, maim her, or use any various poisons that would turn her babbling to screaming. It was horrible not being on the end that called the shots while still needing something from the other side. He didn't need the guild per say, but access would prove useful. Blast Lynth for leaving so soon. Catching his interest was easy, he didn't even know where to begin with his number 2, a pesky little demon child that dared to insult him in his own home. Fortunately his rat-like face did not do as good a job of showing emotions compared to normal humaniods.

"My dear AD, you are much too hasty. Often a boon that will eventually deliver rotten results,"Vernon grinned calmly as he stretched along the branch, hiding his anger behind a placid grin.

"You've asked me what I told Lynth, not what I have to offer the guild or you for that matter. Each person sees different needs and every moment calls for something else. You have not asked me where I can go and what I can do, nor all I have to offer the guild. It's more than what Lynthaer heard I assure you. While it was my advice and words that won him over, I made no claim to be his advisor and I'm sure Lynthear would not address me as such. I'm much better with the art of combat as my performance at the arena did well to show. Training is what I'm good with. I may not have much to teach Melmoth, Lady Alice, or yourself, but not all are experienced as you. I'm sure you likely have better tasks for ones as skilled as Melmoth and Alice than training others in the guild. Proper training might have easily prevented the scattering of most of your lesser members after Taras fell," Vernon explained, hiding his annoyance with her. She probably had a bone to pick with him since the moment he was seen with Lynth. It wouldn't be the first time a first impression had been sour.

"As far as where I can go and what I can do, perhaps it would be easier for you to state what you are lacking, for I have a feeling I can only imagine the places you yourself can go and I doubt your talents are only found in illusions, summons, and hiding."

"I can't go into the Black Mist Mansion without permission from Draco, mostly because I don't wish to piss him off unnecessarily. And I cannot get near the Temple of Unity, but nether can the now ex-Goddesses, the ones that still live." That was an assumption on her part, but she was fairly sure it was true. "I also do not have access to the elemental planes of Water, Earth, or Air, though I'm sure I could gain access to them if the need arises." She said calmly and shrugged, dismissing the facts she just stated as if they didn't matter in the least.

"As for the idiots that got scattered after the fall of Taras, I find it rather fitting. If they are too weak in mind, body, or soul to not stay with the Divshatten then I don't think they should be part of it. Yaksha simply didn't know that he shouldn't be there. It's something I'm going to have to take up with Fehade also, when I'm done here." Depending on how her encounter went with the demon, he too may be removed from their numbers, though he might prove her wrong. It didn't seem Vernon was... She found it a bit annoying talking with him for so long. She was getting board and didn't really want to be there much longer.

She sighed, "You do realize that I am giving you a chance to prove your worth here, don't you? Stop being so anal and be glad I'm not being hasty and removing your chance to enter the guild hall simply because you are not a member of it. And if you call me dear or any other name but my own again you can forget it."

Bothersome. She even contradicted herself. How was she to find one who could go where she couldn't when she claimed to be able to go everywhere? Vernon was now convinced that she was toying with him, though for what reason he could only guess. "My apologies. I do realize that if you were entirely hasty you would have left by now, but you did take my words out of context as I explained before. Regardless, it is rare to find one truly strong of mind, body, and soul. Training allows for any such descrepincies to be fixed and a unity to be forged between the members, but nothing is proved with words. If you wish proof then let us use action instead. Best Duo Animus with one of your summons. I will train Duo for whatever amount of time you think is good. Afterward if he does not defeat your summon you will have two birds removed with one stone," Vernon replied. It was putting a lot on the shoulders of one with a few screws loose in his head, but it was his only option. Words were not his forte and neither was getting on people's good side. The longer she stayed the more she'd be pushed away. Sure it meant not being lazy for a bit, but Vernon had to admit that he loved having oppurtunities to put his whip to good use.

Aether Draka smiled, it wasn't locations she was looking for and it seemed he didn't understand that. That meant he wasn't too much use to AD herself. She was very pleased that he wanted to show her instead of telling her though. Actions spoke louder then after all. She had no problem with his terms. "Sounds like a plan to me. You may show up when you feel he is ready. The hall itself will inform me that you have arrived. There is an arena in the Choronzon Gebäude, the match will be there." She tucked her hair behind her ear, brushing her levitation spell. She walked off the root into the air, and gave a little wave. "I'll see you then."

Aether Draka gave a small wave before the shadows themself reached out from under the foliage and wrapped about her. "one truly strong of mind, body, and soul", seriously? She said or, not and, but if Vernon could pull it off she was not going to tell him he couldn't. It was going to be interesting. She shadow jumped, leaving no hint as to where she was going behind her.
