Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own.

In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins.

There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free.

Aiden moved silently along the treeline, his eyes searching for any sign of his quarry. It had been two days since he and a small group of elves had been sent from the Norwood Village. And yet, after two days of searching by some of the most experienced hunters in the wood, there had been no sign of the female, green-eyed elf they were looking for.

I wonder what's so important about one woman anyway, Aiden thought as he stood still for a moment and looked around. Surely one elf can't pose such a horrible threat to the village. Aiden quickly shook his head, trying to both focus on his mission and to remove any doubts from his mind about the village. If the elders wanted this woman, there had to be a reason. It simply wasn't Aiden's job to figure out why.

Suddenly, Aiden heard a soft whistle relatively close by. Hoping that one of his companions had found their target, Aiden grasped the hilt of his blade and moved quietly towards the sound. He walked quickly through the grove of willows by the lake, hoping to catch a glimpse of either his companions or his target. But after he had walked for a few hundred yards, he saw nothing.

Aiden, deciding he might have mistaken the whistle for the singing of a bird, stopped moving and leaned against a nearby tree. He bowed his head in both thought and frustration as the sunlight filtered gently through the willow grove. . .

Fara're was well aware of the elven hunting party. She sulked in a tree as she watch them. She could see them but they could not see them. Her long tail swished back and forth in an agitated angry manner.

It has nearly been a year since she had first entered Norwood. The weretiger has spent months hunting down bandits and ridding the forest of their nuisance. Spent all that time working hard to gain the trust of the elves. It had worked and she was now accepted amongst them for the most part.

But it seemed some of the younger elves were foolish enough to think she was a threat to them. She studied them carefully for a little while. She only recognized a few of them. She figured most of them were not from the village at all. Instead it had be just a few of the more racist elves who had gathered up some folk form outside of Norwood to hunt down the 'threat.'

She shook her head. The fools. The whole lot of them. They would never be able to find her. Not unless she let herself be found. She was a Shadowdancer after all. Had this group actually been any kind of a threat to her, she would have just remain hidden. Or if they were a threat to Norwood...well they would already be dead. But this time she just needed to teach a bit of a lesson.

She slipped out of the tree she was perched in and came into full view. She glared at one of the young elves, on of the ones she recognized. "Andrie..." she said. "How long is it going to take to get it threw that thick skull of yours that I am NOT a threat to your village. Most of your kin have accepted me already."

Andrie thought he recognized the voice that came suddenly from behind him. Nonetheless, he didn't move his hand from the hilt of his sword. "Sorry, but I'm not exactly doing this for personal reasons. The elders want to see you. Why they want to see you or why they've labeled you as a target isn't my business."

He turned around and saw that the Fara're had come into full view. He opened his hands peacefully and even moved away from his sword. "Would you simply accompany me back to the village? Whether or not I agree with what the council demands...a job is still a job. And besides, I'm sure that if the full Elder Council has asked for your presence, they can't be summoning you for something bad."

If they were, they would've sent a proper hunting party anyway, he thought. He stayed silent, allowing Fara're the opportunity to reply. . .

Aiden still had no idea what had made the whistling sound he had heard earlier. Dismissing the sound to a bird, he continued his search, moving stealthily along the tree line near the lake. He had decided to return for the village for a while to restock before beginning his search again tomorrow.

But as he moved, he suddenly heard what sounded like a conversation nearby. The other elves? he thought. Perhaps someone had found their elusive quarry after all. He hurried through the trees, abandoning his silent movements for the speed of a run. As he drew closer, Aiden could recognize one of the voices.

"Andrie!" Aiden whispered loudly as he moved. Suddenly, he found himself in a rather small clearing. A quick glance revealed Andrie's tall form, his hands raised and in a non-threatening pose. Across from him stood a shorter, tailed form; a female...with green eyes.

"Fara're?" Aiden asked, his hand straying to his sword hilt. This is who we were sent after? Aiden thought, recognizing Fara're. How odd. . .

Fara're's turned her head as she heard others coming. Her skin rippled as she morphed to her hybrid form. Her bright emerald eyes shifted in color to a deep gold. Orange and black fur now covered her whole body. Normally she would have been in the form anyways. But for some reason just did not feel like it. Now that she felt like a fight might occur she preferred being in her more tiger form.

Andrie spoke something to her and she relaxed her stance. She cross her arms in front of her and her long tail swished back and forth in a casual manner.

"If the elders want to speak with me, then I will come hear what they have to say," she said. "Sorry for the rude greeting then. But you must understand how difficult it is to live when fools come to hunt after you. It seems you are not as much of a fool as I first thought."

She then looked over as a new elf showed up. The man seemed to recognize her and said her name. She flashed him a smile.

"That would be me!" she said happily. "But you seem to have me at a slight disadvantage...I do not know your name."

Fara're's sudden smile disarmed Aiden...for the moment. Whether or not the council wanted to see this person for good reasons, she couldn't be that bad of a person after all.

"Forgive me for my rudeness," Aiden said, taking his hand away from his sword. He formed a fist and placed it over his heart as he replied, "My name is Aiden, a ranger rather new to the Norwood Village. I was appointed the leader of the party sent after you two days ago." He looked over at Andrie and nodded. The younger elf hestitated for a moment, but slowly lowered his hand. There was no need for such a disarming gesture when there was no fear of an attack.

Turning back to Fara're, Aiden said, "If you don't mind me saying this...you are a vary tough quarry to track." He flashed a smile of his own as he continued, "The fact that it took us two days to find you is a little...surprising, really. The people I find in this wood never cease to amaze me, really."

A series of short whistles sounded from nearby as Aiden finished. He glanced to his left as a group of elves began to emerge around the small clearing. Apparently their conversation had drawn the other members of the hunting party.

"Well now that we're all here," Aiden said with a hint of sarcasm, "We should get moving to the village. I'm sure the elders won't like that they're being held up like this. . ."
