| Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit. Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own. In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins. There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free. Create a character now! If you're already a member, you can log into your account below: |

Tracyn shuddered as he stepped out of a surprisingly deep puddle. Something about this place just got to him, it felt so evil. The polar opposite of the rest of Norwood it would seem. The land was gradually disappearing as he continued. The fellow hated to admit it, but his was lost… so very, very lost. Tracyn looked around himself and hoped that he wasn’t going in circles because that one tree looked oh so very familiar. There was also the unnerving feeling of being watched that one often had when being in a place like this. The groans and chirps of various swap animals were slowly grating on his mind and he wrapped his arms around himself in response. This wasn’t just a feeling though; there was indeed a creature that was rather keen on having him in its clutches. The healer paused as the land completely gave out before him and he found himself suddenly waist deep in muck. Tracyn groaned and began to slush his way out, though the muck was very stubborn and thus was a slow and tedious process. “Wasn’t this hard to get in it…” he managed to free himself and sat down by the bank and sighed. Maybe Fara’re would find him? That was wishful thinking and would also be very embarrassing at the same time. Well he had left saying he’d go for a quick stroll so maybe she’d guess that something was wrong. Either way he was very content to just sit here for a while, as unwise at it may be. |

Vernon's spies dispelled the night's silence. A new fool had decided to be his latest victim. A frail looking human it appeared. Vernon was annoyed that the intruder had come while he wasn't so hungry, but he certainly one to shirk his duties, particularly when they were so delightfully fun. Vernon made his way swiftly towards the intruder with the aid of his minions. For some reason the human was making his way deeper into the marsh, yet even the smartest of his pets could find no hint of weaponry or gifts on him. Perhaps he was a mage of some sort. When Vernon was closer he could clearly discern that the human was also a werewolf. Excellent, Vernon could always use more slaves and pets. Vernon masked his own stench as he approached and cover the sound of his own movements with the sounds of the other denizens of his marsh. The inflicted human came into view "My, my, my. You'll take a lot of work if you are to be any good as a pet, and still a lot for you to be a proper slave," Vernon grinned as hung before Tracyn from his tail. The branch he hung from was fairly sturdy and he was far enough from the werewolf to allow time to deal with any sudden aggression. Of course the werewolf had come to be his pet, why else would be sitting there waiting. Pity if he came seeking death instead, as Vernon was not quite in the mood to deliver it. |

(I’m going with Tracyn not hearing what Vernon had said as that was what I thought you were going at) Tracyn blinked, as it took a while for him to register the rodent now dangling before him. “Whu…. How’d you get there?” at first he didn’t realize the being for what it was. To him, on first glance, it looked like just another ordinary rodent. Then it dawned on him that this wasn’t just any rodent, “Oh uh, sorry. I didn’t realize that you a bit more civilized?” he hoped that wasn’t taken in an offensive manner. He never liked giving the wrong impression to a new acquaintance. The healer glanced around, “Well um… I’m Tracyn, a healer and I’m a little bit lost. Might you know the right way out?” He smiled and stood up as he began to scan for a possible route. “Oh, and I’m sorry if I’m intruding on your home or anything. This place looks the same no matter where I go to me. I guess if you’ve lived in it though it would become home sweet home right?” he smiled and put his hands in his pockets, but not before scratching an itch on his left arm. |

(actually he was supposed to hear it, but this works too) Vernon was insulted. He could hardly state which words which words insulted him more. Likely it was the fact that this werewolf was a healer, an insult to self-respecting were creatures everywhere. His utter ignorance was also greatly appalling. So many wrongs that needed to be righted. He wondered if there would be enough time in the creature's miserable life to right them. Vernon would have to begin curing this poor healer right away. His tail let go of the brand and he dropped to the ground beneath him. "Leaving so soon? No, you're here for very clear reason, and by the looks of it you'll be staying for quite some time. A werewolf and a healer? Just because there are wolves in sheep clothing doesn't mean there need to be Sheep in wolf clothing. For shame, For shame. You are an insult to Lycans everywhere. There are two ways we can remedy this," Vernon growled as he stepped closer to Tracyn. "The easy way, and the fun way," Vernon snickered as he drew his blade. He was curious as to how much resistance the healer would present if any at all. He'd probably take his punishment quietly like an obedient little lamb. |

Tracyn paled slightly when the rat spoke. Something about the words that came from its mouth felt like they were dripping with toxins ready to weaken any who heard them. The healer backed up slightly and rubbed his arm while looking for the best exit. “Well um.. I’ve kinda got to go so I’ll just find my own way out if you don’t mind…” he began backing up some more before making a move to leave. His worries were confirmed when the thing drew his blade in a fairly menacing manner at that. The healer continued his rearward retreat, checking both where he was going and back to Vernon quickly. With a ruffle of cloth he was off in a runner’s sprint, it was probably the thing his body was best at: running; bandits, grumpy dragons, trolls, you name it and he’s probably had to run from it. A scary rat was no different. |

The terror within the human's eyes was wondrous and made Vernon salivate. Pity he would not be making a meal out of this one. Though perhaps that would be easier than fixing the wimpy werewolf. The creature then took the most foolish course of action and fled, though it wasn't too much of a surprise given the healer was a sheep-blooded fool. Vernon didn't act immediately, and of course didn't need to. Two large beasts swiftly chased the healer down, a massive Lion with a mangled dirty mane and a hulking wolf foaming at the mouth. They knew their prey was not to be killed, but they were allowed as usual to use unneeded force in halting the runner. They would at least give the healer the chance to stop before doing so by more amusing means. They'd caught faster prey, and Tracyn would not be the first to flee the marsh on their watch. Tracyn's sprint was doomed to be a short one. Vernon let out a screech and moments later it seemed duplicate hundreds of times behind Vernon. Vernon leapt upward and landed within his large sleigh. Screaming bats drove it onward towards the abomination of a werewolf. "I wouldn't suggest that, chasing makes my pets hungry," Vernon snickered of there screams of the bats. |

Tracyn finally stopped; the lions would catch him anyways. It would be better to not be exhausted when they finally caught up. Tracyn turned around and sighed, “I suppose you’re right.” He ran a hand through his hair and glanced up to the rat suspended in air by his transport. “So what do you want me for? Surely not healing, all you’d have to have done was ask for that. You want gold or anything?” Tracyn paled, why a rat would want the gold of a healer, with whom it was pretty obvious that he was dirt poor, was beyond him. Then there was a far more sinister option. The healer rubbed his arm and glanced around again. If that were the case then he was in far too deep this time. If only Fara could find him; she’d surely make for a grand escape from this master of the swamps. If he ever made it out of here, he’d ensure that he never made another attempt at a pleasant visit. It didn’t even to have to be Fara’re really, as long as someone helped him he’d be quite grateful. The healer wasn’t exactly in the right situation, nor with the right characteristics to do much about it. If only he had mastered his transformations like Fara had, then he could have easily outrun the bulky lions. That was a lot of if’s though, and none of them were likely to happen. |

The Lion and wolf growled in fury as their fun was halted by their prey stopping too soon. They stalked closer as the sleigh did likewise. "Speak of your healing abilities once more and I might see how well they work on a removed tongue, and you probably haven't got a copper to your name. You act in a manner completely unfit for a were and you will be excepting my help in a retraining program, starting now," Vernon grinned as one hand reached for his whip while the other scribed archaiclly in the air. Moments later a large frightened sheep appeared before Tracyn with patches of its dirty fleece missing. "Kill it," Vernon demanded as he pointed at the sheep. Hopefully he would do as he was told, though Vernon had a feeling this was a test the feeble creature would fail. He would certainly need to take a new approach if Tracyn hesitated too long. No matter the reaction pulled out of the healer he would make sure the were wolf got a taste of his whip, though it would of course be more if the reaction truly was unsatisfactory. (sorry for making ya wait) |

The healer looked at Vernon with something akin to pity. Perhaps it had been traumatized at some point and sought refuge in a place where he could control, and where none questioned him? That poor creature, it was so twisted and cruel. Tracyn sighed and looked at the sudden appearance of yet another downtrodden animal. Tracyn heard what Vernon had claimed, and had a feeling retribution would fall in shortly should he disobey. Kill something though? That was out of the question, it was something he’d never willingly do. Even so much as just an animal, it was killing one way or another. In his act of defiance he simply pat the sheep on the head and gave Vernon a calm and serine stare. |

The poor creature was addled even more than Vernon had initially expected. Vernon shook his head, but not before letting the whip lash out to the back of the poor excuse for a were's hand. The would would no doubt heal itself given that so few healers did not heal through magic, though that would make the pain no less intense. He jumped off the sleigh and landed behind Tracyn, quickly readying his whip again. He growled softly before letting his whip reach out once more, aiming for the back of Tracyn's back, or his face if the wimp had turned to face the main threat. The lion and rabid seemed to understand Vernon well and advance slowly to the little lamb and Tracyn as if stalking wounded prey. "You disgust me. You couldn't even offer the thing a painless demise," Vernon growled, both annoyed and amused he could use such words. "Pity, it's going to feel itself being ripped limb from limb," Vernon snickered as the hungry jaws came even closer to the frightened lamb. |

Tracyn gave a hiss of pain and his hand recoiled on instinct as the whip slashed against it. The healer gave it a numbing stare and was going to heal it, but there was something else he was going to do first. His hand ventured back down and began to pat the poor sheep again. By work of subtle magic he calmed the terrified sheep, although not eliminating its evasive tendencies, and cast one more spell which was even less noticeable than the first. It was a trick he had used only once before, and it had left him rather burnt but it was worth it. To give your own wellbeing for another, even something as low down as a sheep was still considered a proper act to the healer. That was exactly what the spell did; any harm to the sheep would land on him instead. Perhaps the reason why that worked so well was that, despite the pain, he could heal himself and the sheep couldn’t. The healer closed his eyes as he heard the whip moving again as he steeled himself for what was coming. He gave a grunt as the whip caught along his back and tore the shirt where it went. Pain, it was only pain Tracyn thought; he could heal it easy when he had the chance. Conquering the pain was all he had to do at the moment. |

(That shield other was mean :o, and made me have to do some thinking) Vines crept in on the sheep fater than the two beasts and swiftly bound the sheep's four legs and pulled began to pull them in four seperate directions. The lamb was distressed once more, yet clearly not in pain. The pain would have been enough for a notable reponse out of the sheep, but not likely out of Tracyn. The odd connection created between the pittiful excuse of a werewolf and the sheep was fated to becomore apparent when The lion and Wolf both bit into the side of the sheep. nothing of note came oout of the sheep, though the pain would not doubt pull a reaction out the werewolf. Annoyed with the obvious use of magic, Vernon flogged the healer again. Vines crept around Tracyn to attepmting to tie him down and make any hope of escape lost to the distant past. Having him tied down would allow for whiping Tracyn's from side which was more sensitive and much better for scarring. He could keep it going untill every last drop of ther creature's magic was spent, then then spell would likely fall apart. If not then he making the creature pass out with pain would always work. Given that option wasn't as fun as having the werewolf watch, Vernon bid his pets to wait while his whip devoured what remained of Tracyn's magic. He wouldn't stop until the the blade left bleeding cuts that signalled the deed was done. It wouldn't take many lashes even with the strogest of mages. |

Tracyn eyed the vines and beasts as they crept up upon the sheep and steeled him for what was to come. The vines weren’t unbearable, but rather just a constant discomfort in his legs, but as the beasts bit down his sides lit up in pain. He let out a slight gasp as he adjusted to the pain, as hard as that was. It didn’t help that Vernon decided to punish him for his actions. The healer tried to shift from the blow but found himself bound to the swamp that was underfoot. The next blow came and then the next which brought forth what was almost a canine whimper. Yet his will wasn’t broken quite yet, there was a good deal of defiance to Vernon that he wished for the sheep to live no matter the odds. So it nearly brought him to tears, more for the knowledge that the sheep was doomed and that meant that Vernon had only won over him. It was a battle of life versus death in a way, and no matter how hard he fought to keep the spell running he knew he would fail. The lashes were growing crippling and he felt warm liquid dripping down his sides, no doubt his own blood. The spell would hold so long as he could sustain injury, but that time was up. Tracyn groaned as he collapsed in a limp heap on the muck below and the spell shattered leaving the sheep open for the fangs of Vernon’s pets. There was a feeling in Tracyn’s gut that it wasn’t just the sheep that was doomed here either. |

Vernon was annoyed there wasn't more screaming from the abomination before him, yet the invigorating energy and magic stolen from the werewolf was enough draw a sadistic grin. "Mmmmmm... You taste Pretty delicous for pathetic little pansy," Vernon snickered after he licked blood off the whip's blade and Traycn's wound. From there Vernon's hand went for a fist full of Traycn's hair as strong Vines pulled the shapesifter upright by pulling on his arms. "You could have painlessly killed it by snappin it's neck. Let's watch what you failed to prevent, shall we?," Vernon laughed as as he pulled the head back so that's Traycn was facing the doomed lamb. He gave the werewolf a few overly firm 'pats' on the cheeck to ensure the pansy was still awake and watching, before snapping his fingers with his free hand. The vines around the lamb seemed to suddenly kick into overdrive and made sickening pops as they pulled the lambs legs in unnatural posistions. The lion and wolf seemed to pay the oddity no mind at all as they resumed tearing into the lamb's side. The lamb was no acting appropriatly for a distressed creature that was taking on serious injury. Screams that could wake the dead, and perhaps they did and encouraged the dead to grin as another came to join them. |

(Bleh post but oh well) Tracyn gave a half-conscious yelp as he was yanked up by his hair and the vines. Oh how he wished he could have just fallen unconscious right then and there, but Vernon’s actions ensured that his eyes were glued to the poor lamb. Its cruel fate made Tracyn sick as he watched with remorse. Why did it have to come to this? He could never kill, yet by not doing so its fate was far worse. The cruel irony made him sick as well. Why did it have to go on like that? Why did any of this have to happen? Why did it happen? There were so many “why”s and some with answers, others without. It was how the world was, and he was trapped where it made the least and most undesirable sense. |
