| Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit. Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own. In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins. There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free. Create a character now! If you're already a member, you can log into your account below: |

"You know, you could at least try to help me. I don't want to be here either but at least I'm trying." Cordelia stood up from looking in between the various dark plants and turned to face Duo, placing her hands on her hips. She knew she had dragged him here against his will, but hey, she supposed making him do something he didn't want to somehow served as a form of discipline. She sighed and shook her head, stepping over a rather large, dark fern and nearly tripping over it. Luckily her hands caught onto a tree before she could fall flat on her face, but she only rolled her eyes and moved her hands away from it. "Ugh, you see what you made me do, Liebling?" she chided, looking at her hands with her nose wrinkled and the corners of her lips upturned in disgust. She wiped the pieces of the spider web off on her new black coat, figuring it was the only thing she had at the moment. She wouldn't dare try to ruin the piwafwi that was draped around her like that, even if it had been made by people who worshipped spiders - she knew Eliel didn't like them and it was out of respect for him, since he had given her the gift. Cordelia leaned over again, only to stop this time and pull out a pair of black leather gloves from the back pocket of her pants. After slipping them on she continued to pry through the plants, looking for the flower she had come here seeking. "If you help..." she began, hoping this would encourage him, "we can go out to eat in Kellen or Norwood." She turned to look at him, the smirk upon her lips reflecting in her dark blue eyes. |

"I am trying!" he yelled with agitation, walking among the darkly colored flora with his arms crossed. He had to keep moving his hair out of his eyes while he scanned the ground; if he didn't hate haircuts so much, he would have sliced it off long ago. He'd wanted to spend the day hunting, not looking for flowers! Why his mother had even been so deadset on doing this escaped him. Still, he couldn't help but cover his mouth to stifle a snicker as she nearly fell over a fern. Maybe this wasn't going to be completely unbearable. His snickers turned into childish giggles, as he gave a quick, sarcastic, "Oh, I'm so sorry that you can't walk and talk at the same time! Have mercy!" For emphasis, he placed a hand on his forehead and pretended to faint, breaking into fits of laughter on the ground. He shot up immediately, though, when she mentioned dining out. "Kellen? Norwood? I've been in the mood for something rural..." he said with a wide grin, jumping up and beginning to look through the plants with a vigor previously unseen in him. If it meant the opportunity to go hunting with his mother, he'd gladly degrade himself by looking for a flower! Good Gods am I whipped, he thought, as he made his way deeper into the forest. The spiderwebs seemed to be getting thicker, much to his chargin. Still, it was nothing he couldn't handle with a little fi- Wait, no, fire would spread. Couldn't be having that right now... Well, he'd just have to deal with it. |

Feeling the need to have the final word on the subject, Cordelia exclaimed, "Like hell you are!" Bah, trying, just looking around on the ground. That wasn't trying. That was being lazy, unenthusiastic, and acting like a little ungrateful punk after all she had done and given to him. Kids didn't always listen, she understood; but she expected a little more from her own children than from others. Her gaze shot to him when he mocked her. Her eyes darkened and her lips tightened while she growled a soft warning. He was the only one of her children she wasn't afraid of being rough with or hurting in any way; he'd get over it, they were similar enough. "You're such a little ass," she grumbled, but she made sure it was loud enough for him to hear. "You should be nice to your mother." Cordelia rolled her eyes. It seemed he had taken the bait, but that didn't mean she couldn't rub it in his face. "Aww, you won't do it for me anyway? Maybe we shouldn't go out and bother the pesky little farmers..." There was disappointment in her voice, only to be followed by a cackle. "We'll hit Kellen tonight darling. Maybe we can raid someone's house, too, if we're quiet enough." She winked and continued through the brush, still seeing nothing. "This damn thing better not be some sort of myth," she hissed. |

"Bah, whatever," he said with a sneer, rolling his dark eyes. Her threats didn't scare him much; he knew she would carry through with them if she had to, without a doubt, but it was never anything she wouldn't feel bad about later. "You know my undead heart holds love for you somewhere," he said with a smirk, picking himself up and busily dusting cobwebs from his cloak. Blech, the forest around here was disgusting. He openly and very visibly frowned when she joked about not going out to eat, even whimpering a little for dramatic effect. He knew the woman couldn't resist his pouting or the way he could mimic a puppy's eyes; he was far too good at begging to get what he wanted. She wouldn't retract her promise like that, he was certain, but that didn't mean he couldn't play it up for fun. Her cackle was like music to him, even more so when he considered what she said after. "Barbecue it is," he said with a smirk, already imagining the smell of burning villager that they would be savoring later on. They could pass it off as arson, no problem. As he made his way ever deeper into the suffocating darkness of the forest, boots cracking branch after branch underfoot as he swatted away ever-thickening webbing, he couldn't help but get the wildest sensation that they were being watched over by something... Animalistic. Something hungry. Something that, like them, fed off of the lifeblood of other living beings. He smiled. Maybe this wouldn't be such a bad hunt after all. |

"It better hold love for me everywhere," she said in a firm voice. After all she'd done for him and what she served to be in his life, she damn well deserved to be loved entirely by him, not just partly. Deep down, Cordelia knew he loved her. People like her and Duo didn't stick around people they didn't like at least a little bit. His whimper and frown stabbed her heart. She knew it was an act, but it still stung her to see one of her children acting like she had hurt them so. He'd done that pout in the past and despite how cold-hearted and cruel she was, she couldn't resist how cute he was capable of being. Even if he was mimicking an ugly little runt, he somehow made it charming. Cordelia reached out to touch his shoulder, wishing she could ruffle his hair but she wouldn't subject him to getting the spiderwebs that were on her gloves in his hair. "Barbecue?! That sounds yummy," she said, laughing. "You're so terrible, so absolutely awful." Her laughing became somewhat louder, not only at the idea but because she knew they would never be caught. That was the pure thrill of it. Her laughing came to an abrupt stop when she heard something crack under another being's weight. It wasn't her and, unsure of whether it was Duo, she threw her arm in front of his chest to stop him from moving any further. Another snap. With a whispered curse, Cordelia moved her other hand to Borael, moving slowly so she could soundlessly unsheathe it. "Be ready," she said, lowering her arm and preparing her magic. The snapping sound became clearer as the beast neared them. Each of its eight, bushy-haired legs crunched on the ground, breaking twigs, plants, and whatever else they came across. Poison dripped from the fangs that were just outside its mouth, waiting like claws to hook onto something and bring it into its maw. The spider emerged from the trees just in front of Duo and Cordelia and became still, its breathing audible and coming out like a hungry hiss. Poison and saliva dripped from its mouth and fangs as it looked between the two vampires and it inched closer, its vocals escalating into a roar. Cordelia's eyebrows lifted and her gaze shifted from the spider to Duo. If that was seriously the most dangerous thing the forest had to offer she was going to be greatly disappointed. |

"You're pushing it," he said, face blank and serious. It wasn't long, though, before his lips curled into a smirk and he started to laugh. He could never maintain a serious expression for long, not without smiling or laughing. It was just an odd trait of his, and one that so easily separated him from Tristan. The spoil-sport that was his good half smiled very seldom; Hell, he might have even been incapable of smiling. He had to turn his head to look at where her hand was, frowning a little as he noticed the cobwebs that had made their way from her hand to his cloak. He brushed them off with a light sigh, saying, "Look at the pot calling the kettle black," with a smirk. She got just as much sick enjoyment out of the things they did as he did, maybe even more- Okay, not more, but still a lot. That much he knew with absolute certainty. He felt himself walking into her arm, forced to stop. He had already noticed the sounds, like she apparently was now. "Ich bin immer bereit," he said with a smile, reaching into his cloak to draw forth a dagger. His eyes were already taking on a light violet glow, appearing to swirl like mist. He was preparing to exert any degree of his power that was necessary to overwhelm whatever appeared before them. He stared at the eight-legged monstrosity that presented itself with naught upon his face but a slight grin as he tossed his knife into the air. It hovered for a moment, blade pointed at the monster as it roared at them loudly enough to shake leaves from the surrounding trees and make the cobwebs vibrate. As it vocalized its rage, he simply let the dagger fly, sending it flying towards one of the creature's eight eyes. "Mama, do you want to play at all, or should we finish quickly?" he asked with a bored expression, already thinking of how simple this fight was likely going to be. Between their shared arsenal, they could reduce the monster to ash- "Oh, verdammen," he cursed, remembering that they couldn't use fire without starting a blaze in the forest. The thought had likely occurred to Cordelia by now as well, but it was of little consequence. They had other methods, even if those other methods would be less quick and entertaining. |

As intimidating as it was in size, it proved to be something of a downfall when it came to moving around quickly. It was able to register the knife and that it should get away, but the thick brush prevented it from doing so swiftly. The weapon plunged into its eye, causing it to squeal in pain and wriggle its legs. Its green, gooey blood gushed from the wound as if something had been popped, causing Cordelia to raise the piwafwi to shield herself in case anything hit her. A smirk twisted her lips in an elegant fashion as Duo asked what she would prefer. With a soft, melodic, malevolent chuckle Cordelia issued a single word: "Play." She allowed it to hang in the air for a few moments before her lips moved in utterance of a spell, causing her to shimmer out of visibility. "Just for a little while. Then we'll find the flower and get the hell out of here." With that said, Cordelia cast another spell, although this one wouldn't be easily recognized since she was invisible. She reappeared behind the spider, lifting Borael and slashing at one of its back legs. She was surprised that the blade didn't slide right through, but given how thick its legs were she supposed she should have expected it. Cordelia grunted and hacked one last time before the leg was gone, twitching on the ground. The spider roared again in pain and, although it hadn't been her intention, it went for Duo, who it could still see and had moved its focus to in Cordelia's "absence." The fangs outside its mouth began to drip profusely now with poison and it moved in toward the teenager, trying to catch him with its front legs and bite him. |

When he saw how easily the knife plunged into the creatures eye, and how it wriggled its long, dark, hairy legs in pain, he couldn't help but snicker. The green blood that spewed forth from the wound didn't exactly look like it would be appetizing, let alone nutritious in the least, but that didn't stop him from licking the blade clean when he recalled it to his hand with telekinesis. Ack, just as he'd expected, bitter. Well, thankfully, they'd be feasting on something far more delectable after this ordeal in the forest was through. Cordelia's words sounded as a chime on the wind, ringing beautifully for a single moment in his ears before they were gone. Even as she disappeared from his view, he was selecting a spell to use. Just when he'd about decided, he noticed that the beast was charging- well, shuffling- towards him, fangs bared and front legs groping madly through the air for him. Before they could even reach him, though, the teen had vanished from the spot. Unlike Cordelia's spell, this one left him visible, but placed him atop the spider's head- very advantageous. He knew he'd dropped his knife in surprise, but it was of little importance. He decided to change the choice of spell, instead pointing at the spot where the knife had earlier made its piercing wound. He gave a quick, triumphant laugh as a jet of dark purple light shot forth from his fingertip, aimed at the wound from earlier. It wasn't a powerful spell by any means, but it would hurt like a wench. |

Oh, that was absolutely revolting. Who the hell tried spider's blood? Her son was one screwed up young man, there was no way Cordelia could even attempt to deny that. She had done a lot of brutal things in her life, but an insect's blood... that almost made her gag, and there weren't very many things that could put her to that point. "Duo, you're sick," she commented, unsure if he could hear her, but it didn't matter. He knew what she thought of him. The spider howled as the wound that was already present in its eye was irritated further. It began to thrash around, trying to throw Duo off of its head. It moved its body and it's legs, even its head, until it got an idea. The spider ran toward a tree, hoping maybe knocking against it would send its assailant flying. Cordelia shimmered back into visibility and reached into a pouch at her belt, removing from it a small bottle. She popped the lid off and took a small sip from the berserk potion, watching with half-interest as the spider tried to fight Duo. She was tempted to help him, but then again she figured that Duo should be able to do this on his own. With a hum, she conjured another spell, this one causing green liquid to slosh above her palm while it formed. In a few moments the venom bolt was prepared and Cordelia sent it at the spider, hoping the acid would land and begin to eat away at its skin. She always loved causing slow, painful deaths. |

"I feel just fine," he retorted, knowing full well that wasn't what she had meant. Truthfully, he was actually feeling a little bit sick to his stomach; the blood had been horrible to taste, but he hadn't given any consideration as to what else might be horrible about it. Hopefully, he wouldn't suffer too badly for daring to sample such a small amount of blood. Still, the pained howling noises it made helped him to feel a little better. Even as it thrashed around, he cackled, kneeling on top of the creature's back and gripping into it tightly. No matter how the monster thrashed or bucked, he held tight, though found himself needing to cast Bull's Strength to keep a truly firm hold. The moment that it impacted the tree, though, he found himself losing his grip and tumbling to the ground. Even as he fell to the earth with a dull thud, he was beginning to pick himself up; being a vampire meant things hurt less, which in turn made him able to recover a little more quickly. He heard the spider yowling in pain once more, apparently forgetting about him in its agony- Cordelia's spell had hit home, beginning to burn a hole into its side. There was blood, as well as the smell of seared flesh and hair, but he ignored it. The game had drawn on long enough, hadn't it? He teleported again, standing next to Cordelia and gazing at the exposed flesh and internal organs of the creature. "Time to end it?" he asked a little sadly, a red glow entering his eyes. He outstretched an open palm towards the creature, bathed in cascading shades of red light; within seconds, the creature's insides would be nothing but an inferno, if all went right. |

She felt so utterly twisted when she saw the hole begin to burn into its skin. Eating away at its flesh, tearing it apart; it was such a beautiful sight to behold! Cordelia giggled girlishly, a rare act indeed for a woman like herself, and sighed contentedly. Performing such acts of violence always filled her with the fluffiest feeling in her tummy, regardless as to whether an animal or a living being was her victim. Her gaze was peeled from the agonized spider to her son, who now stood at her side. "So soon?" she asked, her lower lip poking out in a pout. She was hoping they would get to act even more brutal... but it seemed it was not meant to be. Knowing full well that this needed to be ended sooner rather than later, Cordelia nodded once and stepped back a little to allow Duo the honor. If animals could scream, then that was certainly what the spider was doing. Its insides were cooking, suddenly searing hot. Steam and smoke rose from the pores of its body and it writhed, trying to escape an inevitable fate. Within sheer moments the creature was dead. Cordelia's eyes were wide with delight and her mouth fell agape, her voice picking up in a cackle that rose in volume until it resonated around their small area. She threw an arm around Duo's shoulders and proceeded to ruffle his hair. "My son is a little genius!" she praised. "Burning it from the inside out, do you know how proud I am of you? That was absolutely wonderful!" She leaned down and kissed his head, releasing him and turning away. "But now we have to get back to looking, liebling." |

How amusing, his 'mother' was giggling! Her laughter proved infectious, and soon, Duo himself was chuckling, just like a little kid that had heard a funny joke. He laughed a lot in his life, usually because of violence, but it wasn't often that he got to laugh in this way; usually, it was much more sinister. In any case, he was enjoying himself. This hunt for a flower really hadn't turned out badly. But what the Hell was this? Saying 'so soon,' and pouting? Who was the younger one here, himself or Cordelia? He honestly had to wonder sometimes... Bah, like he actually cared. It was invigorating to know that there were adults out there like him, ones that were actually worth letting live- Not that the thought to kill Cordelia had ever crossed his mind after she'd turned him into a vampire. Much as he hated to admit it, he relished the time he spent with her, killing bandits and townspeople alike. Of course, as the creature began to burn up from the inside out, twitching and writhing as it tried to escape the flames that slowly engulfed its body- how beautiful and ironic, the predator had become the prey!- Duo completely lost it. What had been small fits of innocent, childish giggling turned into bouts of manic laughter as Duo threw his head back, echoing through the dark forest as he wiped tears from the corners of his eyes. The red hue had mostly faded, though it still lingered as his magic carried on, making him look more demonic than usual- granted, he usually looked pretty human. As Cordelia ruffled his hair, he felt himself calming down just a little. Words of praise from his beloved mother, a chance to murder an irritating creature... This had turned into a great occassion. He was beaming with pride, especially when she kissed his forehead, for the first time in his life. Never before had anyone complimented him on his work; he'd always been the underappreciated artist. Even after she let go of him, the feeling didn't fade. It was undeniable, he was in a good mood. Until he remembered that he had dropped his knife somewhere. He gave an exasperated sigh as he began walking throughout the area, scanning the ground for any glint of metal. Of course he made sure to check near the spider's body, but he found no sign of the weapon there. No, he had dropped it earlier... Back when the monster had been charging at him. Finding his way back to that spot, it wasn't long before he located the knife- the spider had kicked it up when it was running, likely, making it stick into the ground before a tree. Even as he crouched to pick it up, he felt a tingling of magic. Someone casting a spell? No... A magical animal? Possible, but unlikely... He scanned the ground again, more closely, until the sight of black petals caught his eye. "Found it!" he yelled excitedly, hurriedly taking his knife in hand. With one stroke, he cut the flower free from where it had rested, picking it up by the stem- Ouch! Thorns! The damn stem had thorns! What the Hell kind of flower hurt people?! It was definitely black, a dark green stem... What was it, some kind of twisted rose? Well, maybe his mama would like it. |

An eyebrow lifted at his sigh. Not only a moment ago he had looked content, perhaps enough to even be considered happy. Cordelia followed him with her eyes as he began to walk around, scanning the ground. Was he already going back to looking for the flower? She would have thought he'd relish in the spider's death for a while; he should have been enjoying their shared accomplishment. There was no reason to hurry, they had all night to finish their task. She watched him, deciding not to bother him since he seemed so engrossed in what he was doing. With a shrug of her shoulders Cordelia turned away from him, perfectly fine with the idea of not searching at his sides. However, Cordelia wasn't given very long to scour the plants for the flower when Duo called for her. She was numb with excitement at his two simple words and she perked up, looking in his direction. Without a second thought Cordelia practically ran to him, leaping over a bush and grabbing him by the shoulders once she was behind him. She leaned down so that her head was next to his and looked down at the flower in his hands. Glee sparkled in her eyes and a grin tugged at the corners of her lips. The grin slowly morphed into a smirk and she stood back, ruffling his hair again. "I'm so proud of you," she cooed. She wasn't sure if that, specifically, was the flower - but it had to be. It was the only flower they'd come across in these woods, this had to be it. Cordelia then noticed that he was bleeding and pouted a little. "Be careful, sweetie," she said. "Do you want me to carry it back so that you won't hurt yourself anymore?" She knew he wasn't frail, but her words were meant only half-genuinely; the other half was mockingly. |

He might not have seen it, but he could definitely feel the wave of excitement that was washing over Cordelia as he called her over. They didn't share a telepathic bond for nothing, after all- of course, they shared a blood bond as well. He turned his head just in time to see her leap over a bush, clearing it rather easily. When the image registered properly, he burst into small fits of chuckling. The fact that Cordelia had just practically sprinted to him, all because he'd found a flower... It was ludicrous! Still, the minor pangs of discomfort from his hand made the laughter subside quickly enough. The look of joy in her dark eyes, though, made it worthwhile. He still sneered at her when she made her snide remarks, of course, but it wasn't as mean as it would usually have been. He carefully took the flower by the blossoms, still being gentle enough not to crush it- fighting the urge to was bad enough- and holding it out towards Cordelia. "You have gloves, you carry it," he nearly commanded, a purple light beginning to bathe his wounds. Within a few seconds they'd be gone, and he'd be free of an irritant. "Let's get out of this damn forest now," he said, heading off towards where he figured the edge was without waiting for her. She's a big girl, she can catch up, he thought with a smirk. It wasn't long before they delivered the flower to the Archdruid that went by Icheb. Duo had mostly waited outside, unable to bear the aura of happiness and life that the man projected; he wasn't 100% evil, mainly because of Tristan, but he still had his damn dignity. As they departed the sickening area, he found himself walking slightly ahead of Cordelia, enjoying the night air. They would soon be in Kellen, feasting to their heart's content and enjoying a wonderful evening of mother and son bonding. It made him tingle with anticipation, though he was quick to realize that something else was making him tingle as well. He stopped in place, closing his eyes for a moment, before finally breaking into a smirk. "Mama, I think we have a change of plans!" he called back while still smirking, as he finished breathing in a very powerful demonic scent. One he'd smelled before in the dark, twisting halls of the Choronzon Gebaeude, but only in lingering amounts- now it was strong, approaching, fresh. The best part was, it didn't seem as if their guest- or was it enemy?- was alone. |

He had heard from someone that his best friend was there in the forest, the spiderhaunt woods, a place he had only been too once when Mara had him kill one of large spiders for one of her little spells. It had been an annoying job, though done quickly and he had been out of here a hour later. Now today though, he had different plans instead of just killing a spiders. Brooks was here, and she had something he wanted. Immortality. Live forever to wreck havoc sounded like a perfect plan for Fehade since he only had the short lifespan of a human, even with Drow blood it wasn't enough to give him a longer life, and even with elf blood, he would still die later on, and he couldn't except dying, it was one thing he feared the most, being so weak that he would die, that was one reason why he was addicted to get power, so he wouldn't be weak to get killed by someone. But becoming a vampire would be one way to assure himself that he'd live forever, if he wasn't killed, but he tried to avoid that thought as much as possible. He was even weary of what he decided, sure it was mainly Rraezanons's idea to become a vampire, for a long time the demon had been nagging the tiefling about it, until recently, shortly after Fehade last encounter with Cordelia, he had decided to become one. There were many vampires in Imythess, but there was only one that he wanted to sire him, and that was Cordelia, because he knew she would hate him even more, maybe become disgusted with herself, and to show her that he was stronger then her, this encounter will be different, much different. Fehade walked on foot, holding a pair of reins in his hand, the reins led to a dark horse that looked rather out of it, often staring into space, though, that could be because it had no eyes. The horse had the stink of death around it, with multiple places were old cuts were with dried blood, there was even some places that seemed to be rotting away. He named the Hellsteed, Daeth, seemed fitting for a zombie horse, even though the horse was rather more intelligent then he looked. A top the horse was a girl no more then sixteen. Her name was Cassiel, daughter of Seth, the man that kept getting in the way when Fehade was playing with Nikkolai, at least he did recently, and he brought a water creature up from the lake that ruined Fehade's fire, and that angered him. This was his way to get back at the man, he would hurt little Cass, he was hoping to feed off her when he got changed to a vampire, then dump her body in a alley near Seth Tertius house, sounded like a good plan to him. The girl was gagged, and her hands tied together to the horn on the saddle so she wouldn't be able to yell for help, her jump off the saddle to run away. Walking beside Daeth was Evier in her human form, but instead of wearing her original dress, she wore heavier clothes, pants and long shirt, a cloak over her shoulders, the hood up over her head, shadowing her features, and a veil covering most of her face, all black. Mainly to hide the burnt marks, but since she was originated in hell, and fire is a part of her true form, she was slowly healing and wouldn't look burnt forever. Fehade smiled to himself. They were getting closer, he could feel them. He stopped, and gestured for Daeth and Evier to stop as he moved on ahead, letting the hood of his pwifwi cloak fall. He took his time as he made his way towards the place where he figured Brooks would be. He stopped again when he saw her, and another boy, who he recognized as the new member from Divschatten, he had seen the boy at the hall, but had never let himself be seen. He didn't like the guild, so didn't stay long, and defiantly not long enough to let people see him and start talking to him. He only went there when he needed something from his room he had there. Grinning to himself, Fehade stepped out of the shadows, stepping carefully towards the two. "Cordelia Brooks, I've been looking for you." Fehade called to her, stopping then, some feet away from the two vampires. His hand rested on his katana as he glanced around the place, webs and trees everywhere. He wouldn't be able to use much fire here unless he was sure he had good control over it, but he still had dark magic which would work just as well.
