Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own.

In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins.

There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free.

Slavers were encamped near the village of Kellen, prepared to strike at the village and take advantage of the chaos to capture anyone they could, especially children. They planned to make their strike during the next few days. They would have to be stopped, or numerous innocent young children would never again taste freedom.

Nireza was working at the Green Gryphon. She saw a middle aged man sit down by an empty table. His clothes were torn and spattered with blood. He appeared to have been cut in several places. She walked over to the table and said, "Would you like something to drink?" He replied, "Just a beer. Thanks." She went to get the drink. When she returned with the beer, he said, "Thank You. Before you run off, I have something to tell you. Sit down here," gesturing toward a chair beside him. She sat down and asked, "What is it you want to tell me?" He began, "You don't look like a normal serving girl. You seem to be used to hardship and have some combat experience. You might be able to deal with this problem I noticed on the way here. I was traveling down the path, minding my own business when I noticed two suspicious looking men ahead of me. They walked into the forest toward an encampment of some kind. I followed them, curious as to what they were up to. I was led to what appears to be a slaver camp. One of the men said something about taking children from the village. They can only be slavers. I was watching the encampment for more clues when I was spotted. One of the slavers attacked me and caused the injuries you see here. I was lucky to escape with my life. I was able to daze the man for a moment with a punch to the face and then I took off as fast as I could until I came here. The slavers know I found their hideout, and I can expect them to come into this town looking for me. I can probably expect to be captured or killed unless something is done. Can you help me with this?" Nireza had been listening intently to the man's tale. She replied, "I'll do what I can, but I don't think I'm capable of doing this on my own. I'll see if I can find others to help me. I see several people in here who look like they have combat experience. I'll go ask them if they're willing to help me." The man said, "Thank you for doing this for me. You don't realize what this means to me, being willing to risk your life for this. I have little to give, but take this small dagger. It is nothing out of the ordinary, but hopefully it will help." "What if you're attacked?" "There's no way I'm going to survive if the slavers find me, so it's probably best with you." "Thank you very much. I've been needing something like this for a while. I assure you, it will be put to good use. Now I'm going to round up a group to deal with this problem."

Nireza got up and put the dagger into her belt, in a sheath which she had from before her previous dagger broke. She went to another table with a few people who looked like they could fight and asked, "Is any of you willing to fight with me against some slavers hiding in the forest?"

Mithranduir was sitting in the corner of the bar listening to all the chatter of the day and to see if anything caught his tuned ear. It had been quite a while since he had been in this particular bar although it was one of his favorites. This is where he mad the most connections, started the most adventures, and came up with the idea for his guild with his compatriots.

Mith's ears came to one focal point. A waitress that was talking to a blood bathed man that he noticed walked in not to long ago. He couldn't help but over hear the conversation and the call for help to the waitress and then saw her float over to what seemed like so battle hardend adventures. Mith smirked because though he had his hood covering his face he didn't look very battle hardend mostly because he didn't have to. Not much was a challenge to him anymore since he was taught the ways of the wind.

He then tried to get the attention of this waitress without really drawing to much attention to himself. The only way that he seemed rationaly enough was to finish his drink and order another. So he downed it and placed it at the edge of the table and waited for her to come by.

Mith loved mind games but he wanted to be straight to the point with this situation many of these slavers have been popping up lately. In Norwood Forest now here at this rate all of the area will be run by them. So he needs to be apart of this so he can regain the favor of his Celestial. Mith has felt very lonely without him by his side. He has tried and tried but to no avail but now this opportunity gives him hope. Hope to be complete again as an infused windwalker.

On the end of the bar sat a basket-sized ball of white fur curled into itself. Known by the Bartender, but not by the newer waitress, he was left to his own. All who knew him loved him, and all who didn't posed no threat.

An ear perked as he woke midway through the man's story. He smiled in the middle of his furry shelter, body rising and falling quickly as he thought to himself. The victim seemed to have no problem openly stating he'd been defeated so easily. Without opening an eye, the cat began to doze off again as the waitress asked for help. Nobody seemed to jump at the idea. The bartender slowly made his way in the cat's direction.

Knowing he was going to get pulled into this one way or another, the cat decided to feign uninterest. Feeling a prodding finger into his ribcage, piter's eye shot open, stone green orb staring daggers at the man. The bartender cringed, put on a smile and ran a hand over the cat's spine.

Relaxing some, the cat's glare dulled, shaking his head and beginning to lick a paw. 'Please? I'll let your tab go.' The man said with a smile on his face, not looking directly at him. It would seem odd to be talking to a cat. Especially at this time of day.

The housecat stood, stretching coolly and mosying over to the table the woman had approached, nudging her leg with his pink, moist nose, sitting down and looking up at her.

The people at the table didn't seem to pay much attention to Nireza's request for help. I guess they're just interested in their drinks right now, she thought. She was about to go to another table when she felt something touch her leg. She looked down and saw a white cat. It was looking up at her. It seemed to have been trying to get her attention. She picked it up and held it in her arms. "I'll get you something to eat," she said, as though it were any ordinary cat.

She started toward the back of the tavern to get something when she noticed an empty drink set near the edge of a table. She headed over there, deciding that she could get something for the cat at the same time. When she got to the table, she asked the young wizard, "Would you like me to get you another drink?"

It had worked and he smirked beneath the shadow of his hood. Noticing he was keeping the waitress and her new companion waiting he quick replied No, but I do need to speak with you when your not to busy. If that's alright? It concerns the recent mission that man over there gave you. I can wait if you have things you need to take care of. Mithranduir then looked around and it seemed to him that this place was becoming slightly more hostile then before because of a group of people that had entered the bar when he was talking to the waitress.

The snowy-furred cat purred approval as he was picked up. She offered him something to eat. Somebody had instructed this woman on the finest points of gaining a feline's trust. Glancing at the bartender, who was keeping an eye on him, Piter rolled his eyes and looked up at the woman. Deciding this was as good a time as any as she spoke to the man, he licked his jowls.

I've got a similar request, if you don't mind.” Piter said with a wide smile, the voice coming from him seeming oddly large, but quiet enough. As if a cat speaking wasn't odd at all. Hopping from her arms, piter chuckled, sitting on the table and curling his tail around the empty mug, looping it around the handle and lifting it from the wood easily.

Don't worry, I don't shed.”

Nireza was just about to reply to Mithranduir when the cat jumped out of her arms onto the table and started talking. Her surprise showed on her face. "Seems like both of you want to talk about my conversation with the man over there," She said, pointing at the blood bathed man. "Here's the story. Apparently there are slavers hidden in the forest near this village and something needs to be done about them. That guy narrowly escaped death, and it's a good thing, too. Now something can be done about this problem. Now I hate slavery. I don't even like governments much. People should be free. Are the two of you willing to help me? If so, I'd like to know what abilities you have that would help."

If so, I'd like to know what abilities you have that would help. This rang like church bells to Mithranduir's ear he then took his hood off to reveal his surprisingly young face smiling to the statement. I am what they call a wind walker. I have intimate relationship with the wind and all her power and grace. Observe

As Mith said this he looked to an open window and then the air in the bar started to cool down to the temperature outside and you could notice the people were starting to feel it.

Looking over sensing that they were still not convinced. He then used the wind to open up another window adjacent to the window that was letting the cool air in. He quickly then conjured a storm above the bar and made it rain. He then took the rain that was falling outside and tunneled it though the bar using the wind. Snaking it though tables and other bar staff until it reached it's destination through the other door. He then subsided the rain and dissipated the storm above and went back to calmly drinking his cup of water that he filled up while they were watching the show along with the other bar members. And if that doesn't work well I have my swords. As he waved his hand over the table 3 swords appeared magically it seemed and then with his other hand he waved over them and they were gone.

He went back to drinking his water.

Nireza watched with amazement as the wizard summoned the storm and controlled the wind, using it to manipulate the rain's path. She felt the wind spirits calling to the part of her that was wind, even more strongly than during most storms. She couldn't understand what they were trying to tell her, but they seemed almost eager to obey her command. She was so taken in by the experience that she didn't notice anything else going on until the wind walker spoke again. She didn't really comprehend what he said, but noticed the swords appear and then disappear.

"That was definitely interesting," she said. "The wind was definitely trying to tell me something. I've always known that I'm part wind, what people call a wind genasi, but that was just strange. It seems like the wind itself wants me to become a wind walker. What would it take for me to learn how to do that?"

Piter smiled to himself. The man seemed sure of his abilities in combat. Deciding to play a small part for now, piter wore an impressed look at the man's display of ability. Completely unconvinced rain was going to win them a fight. Who knows, perhaps the bandits are scared of a storm. Or allergic to water.

Or dead already.

The cat spoke right after nireza asked her question, interrupting. “I'm a bit of a spell user. A couple spells here and there, nothing too special.” He smiled at her with a look of total innocence, fighting down the urge to break a table.

When do we leave?”

Mithranduir smiled that kind of smile that just warms peoples hearts. He love to help people and never once had he been asked about his power. It made butterflies churn in his stomach he then replied, Hmm.. It takes a certain kind of person to be a Wind Walker. It's really a lifestyle. You have to be able to help people just like the wind does. This isn't a good path for someone who is a show off or is a controlling person. Simply because you have something to take control over already... The wind. He was very solemn about this. If it was important to her it would show in this task. He smiled again, how convenient that he didn't need a place for this girl to prove herself. He then began to reminisce when he wanted to become Sargoth's apprentice or even Ciara's apprentice what a life he had been living. To battle his master Sargoth and lose in a disgraceful way and return to actually thank him for what he did. He then snapped out of this memory and regained focus on what he was saying to Nireza. Depending on how this mission goes will show me you want to become a wind walker. Your heart is in the right place which is good but I need to see you in battle to know if you can really handle yourself. Above all else I am glad that you show interest in this. It warms my heart.

He then looked down at the cat who seemed very unconvinced of what he just did. In time my feline friend you will see the true power of a Storm Kindler. Smiling he added, So two things; My name is Mithranduir StormCrow what are yours? And two, Like the little one said when do we go?

"My name is Nireza. It's nice to meet you Mithranduir. Can I shorten that to Mith? I've always been one to help people who are in danger. That's why I accepted this mission in the first place, although my hatred for slavery is also a reason. I can't stand people who are willing to force others to work for them. People should be free. I don't even like governments much. To much 'do this' and 'don't do that'. And about it being a lifestyle: I'll finally have something to really focus on. I thought magic would do it, but it wasn't what I was expecting. Anyways, back to the task at hand: eliminating the slaver camp. You wanted to know when we'll be leaving. I'd like to try to gather a few more people, but I'm not about to take days about it. I think this would be better done at night, although I'm sure you can make it as dark as night at any time of day. We leave tonight or tomorrow morning, depending on what the two of you and anyone else I recruit says." She was looking forward to proving herself and yet a bit nervous about what could happen if all went wrong. She could lose the opportunity of a lifetime.

OOC: I'm expecting two more people to join this thread. One (Shintai) is waiting for an item from the shops and the other (Kalia) is presumably busy with other RP's.
