| Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit. Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own. In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins. There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free. Create a character now! If you're already a member, you can log into your account below: |

As the breeze fluttered past his muzzle, Shintai continued his trek down the dirt road, in search of somewhere to end his journey. The massive Tauren entered a branch of forest, which he would venture into and emerge in less than a mere hour. As he entered, the sky was becoming dim. As he proceeded on his stroll, he began to notice the silence gradually being pulled into the shadows. The rushing of wind replaced the quiet. The sky was now a bit pink. It was slowly turning purple. After so many moments, the wind began to send a chill down the Tauren's spine. He found himself sinking deeper into his old, ripped tunic. The sky was a deep purple now. The sun was, however, sending off the last fraction of light into the atmosphere. It set. The light was gone, the purple became black, and Shintai knew that he was close to escaping this forest. But soon, something began to resound in his ears. It was the howl of a wolf. He soon heard growling. Shintai drew out his axe and found himself surrounded by six vicious wolves. One jumped at him. Shintai pushed it away, but found himself being bitten on the back of his arm by another. He took a swing at it, sending it away, but soon two were on his back. The Tauren thrust himself forward and tackled one wolf. He then rolled over onto the other two and began jabbing the wolf in his grasp with the tail of his axe. The wolf was in pain. Why attack Shintai? Another jumped on his thigh. It took a bite out of his leg. Shintai rolled over once more. The previous wolves crushed beneath his weight were now on the ground, nearly completely flattened. Shintai pushed off the ground and fell back. He wondered what had happened to the other two wolves, but did not think to take his mind away from the battle at hand. He rolled back and stood. The four wolves were now on the ground in pain. Where was the other duo? Shintai began to look around, but his neck was aching. The Tauren began to turn on hoof, searching for the other two. He did not find two, but eight. The wolves had reinforcements. Did wolves fear fire? Shintai snapped his fingers, creating a spark on them, eventually spreading to his wrist. He then began to run with it, trying to escape. He hid behind a tree, ducking for cover. He then touched the fireball to the tree. It ignited. Flames. The wolves began to glare at the fire. Shintai got up and began to sprint. The wolves passed the tree and began in pursuit of the Tauren. For his size, Shintai was very fast. Anyone nearby would hear massive stomps and assume a massive behemoth was coming through if they didn't know better. He then felt the bite. His wrist had taken the teeth. He then collapsed. In pain, Shintai was on his knees. He punched the wolf away. Ahead he could see a village. He began to crawl, as the wolves struck him. |

Nireza had been staying in the Village of Kellen for about a day now. She was hoping to get a job of some sort in the town, or at least find a place to spend the night. Not long after the sun set, she heard a sound of footsteps coming down the path. She looked down the path and immediately saw the spark Shintai had made. With her darkvision, she was able to make out the Tauren without too much trouble. She then realized that he was being attacked by wolves from the forest. She began jogging toward him, not taking the time to think about the risk. She wasn't about to allow the wolves to kill him if it was within her power to stop them. The Tauren fell. She was not jogging anymore, but flat out running. She had to save him. She stopped a short distance from him, pulled her wand out of her belt, and began casting a spell. A few seconds later, she released the magic missile at one of the wolves, blasting it off Shintai's back. The wolf was not dead, but stunned: for the time being it was no longer a threat, or so it appeared. |

The weight left his back. Shintai coughed. He realized there was a bit of blood trickling down his left from his fall. Somebody was nearby, but they could not be identified due to Shintai's vision slowly fading. He began to stand up. He managed to get one foot on the ground, but the other leg remained on the ground. Shintai got lucky. Somebody had managed to save his life. But who? He saw almost nothing, realizing that his eyes were now completely shut. He was tired. "Th-thik kuu," he said, unable to speak due to the blood in his mouth. The sensation on his back fur was definitely cooling mana. This meant that the one who helped him was a magician who shot some sort of missile and knocked the wolves away. Were the wolves dead? Unconscious? Stunned? Or alive but unmoving? |

Nireza heard the Tauren mutter what she believed was thanks, although she could not be entirely certain. However, she realized that the battle was far from over. Six of the eight wolves were still active. She also knew that she was in trouble if more than one or two of them decided to attack her. She hoped Shintai would be able to get back onto his feet to at least occupy the wolves. She said, "There's still six wolves after you. You need to get back up. I'm not capable of doing this on my own." She gathered the mana to cast another magic missile. She then aimed at a wolf that was jumping onto the Tauren's back, hitting it in midair. Its momentum was stopped and it lay stunned just behind Shintai. Two of the wolves changed direction, running toward Nireza. She muttered a curse and pulled her dagger out of her belt. At the last second, as the wolves lunged for her neck, she stepped aside, catching one of the wolves on her dagger. The other struck her shoulder, snapping at it and knocking her off balance. She rolled backward, escaping injury aside from the bite on her shoulder. She was able to roll into a crouched position, from which she turned and prepared to meet the wolf again. |

"There's still six wolves after you. You need to get back up. I'm not capable of doing this on my own," said a female's voice. Shintai knew a she was now involved in this battle. Women and children first was the rule, so he had to put her life ahead of his. He tried to stand, but realized his knee was grinding. Shintai pulled his axe up, held his breath, and hit his knee with the handle of the axe. It twisted his knee sideways a bit. He could then stretch it and give it some momentum so he could kick out his leg and rise. He saw her fighting two wolves, while one lay stunned, and three circling him. Shintai jumped up and kicked one of the wolves away, ducking low and kicking another behind him. He then provided a full circle swing of his axe to knock the two away from him. Taking a step off the third, he made his way over to the action. Shintai threw his axe behind him and grabbed the wolf that bit her shoulder. He then began to spin, followed by tossing the creature at a tree trunk, creating a huff and causing the tree to slightly lean from the force of the powerful throw. Shintai felt a wolf jump on his back. It was the one he had stepped on. It was weakened drastically, but without his axe he couldn't reach it. He dealt with it and ran forward to assist the spellcaster. |

Nireza saw Shintai struggle to get up and quickly dispatch the three wolves circling him. She was relieved that she wouldn't have to fight all the wolves at once. She waited for the remaining wolf to rush her, but it hesitated a moment. That extra second would be its downfall. She watched as the massive Tauren grabbed the wolf and forcefully threw it into a tree, killing it instantly. She then stood up, watching with surprise as one of the stunned wolves picked itself up and launched itself at the Tauren's back. The Tauren ran toward her, the wolf still on its back. She ran around the Tauren to get a clear shot at the wolf and fired a magic missile at it, knocking it clear of his back. She then grabbed her dagger and started slitting the throats of the stunned wolves. "Just making sure they won't try to kill us again." However, one of the wolves had not been fully stunned. When she crouched down to kill it, it exploded into her chest, flinging her into the air. She hit the ground hard, unable to roll out of the fall as she was accustomed to doing. |

After seeing her forceful fall, Shintai, with the wolf taken off of his back, ran towards the last wolf. This was definitely the alpha male. Shintai roared in the air and kicked it before jumping on it and hitting it with his axe. After the attack, Shintai picked up the wolf, began to rotate, and threw it nearly twice as hard as he threw the previous one, causing it to hit a tree and snap the tree. Shintai never realized he was this strong. He took his mind away from the battle and made his way over to the spellcaster. "Are you okay?" he asked, kneeling down by her. |

Nireza lay on the ground, slightly dazed from the force of the fall. She had been able to break her fall somewhat, escaping serious injury. Her light weight had She heard a roar and then a loud crash as the wolf slammed into the tree. She then saw the Tauren kneel beside her and ask if she was okay. "I'm alright. I've been through worse than this." The relief of having survived the battle showed on her face. She felt pain in several places, notably her shoulder and her back, but she would live. A couple days taking it easy and she would be fine. She said, "Why don't we go to the Green Gryphon and get some drinks and a place to spend the night. I could use some rest and I expect you need it as well." She tried to get up, but her movement sharpened the pain in her back. She cursed under her breath and fought the pain. She rolled over and using her uninjured right arm managed to get herself into a kneeling position. "I hope nothing's broken," she said. |

"I'm alright. I've been through worse than this." Ow. Shintai noticed she looked relieved, but pained. "Why don't we go to the Green Gryphon and get some drinks and a place to spend the night? I could use some rest and I expect you need it as well." Shintai nodded, as this was surely true. "I hope nothing's broken," she said. Shintai's muscles were tense. He needed to lighten up, so he pulled out his lute and began to play a graceful tune with no magical, only psychological qualities. |

Nireza saw Shintai nod when she mentioned getting some rest. She saw Shintai pull out his lute and start playing. She noticed the tension in his face. She felt her muscles relax as she listened to the music. After several minutes, she decided that they should head over to the tavern. It was not a good idea to be sitting in the path, especially at night. She stood up and said, "We should get going. If those wolves were sent by someone, he's not going to be too happy. The Green Gryphon will have a place for us to stay." |

"We should get going. If those wolves were sent by someone, he's not going to be too happy. The Green Gryphon will have a place for us to stay." In agreement, Shintai put the lute away, feeling satisfied by his musical performance. He began to stroll along towards the Green Gryphon, but then something came up. "I never did get your name, Miss..." |

Nireza saw Shintai finish playing and put his lute away. She then got up and walked with him toward the tavern. She heard him say, "I never did get your name, Miss..." "Just call me Nireza," she said. "If I have a surname, I don't know it. So where did you come from, and what did you do to get those wolves mad at you?" She thought, He could make a good friend. I maybe should get to know him better. |

"Just call me Nireza," she said. "If I have a surname, I don't know it. So where did you come from, and what did you do to get those wolves mad at you?" This was a very good question. "I am Shintai V'krau," he said. "I come from Arda in search of somewhere to be after the destruction of those lands. As for the wolves, I suppose as a Tauren I came across as a threat to them." "As for... not having a surname..." said Shintai. "What has caused this and why not create a false one to avoid suspicion?" |

Nireza replied, "So your homeland got destroyed and you're looking for somewhere to live. I can't really help you find a place to live as I've been a wanderer for as long as I remember. I remember nothing of my early life. I remember waking up one morning and realizing that I remembered nothing of my past. I was in a house in the city of Taras, which was then a great city, but was recently destroyed. In the hundred and thirty years of my life that I do remember I've never stayed in one place for over a year. I either decide I don't like a place, or for some reason I'm forced to run. I've never thought to come up with a fake surname. It might be a good idea, although its never seemed to be a problem for me. I can't think of anything at the moment, so do you have any ideas?" |

"I can't say I have any true ideas," replied Shintai. "But it should not be an extremely uncommon one as you seem out of place, as if you were just set down alone the ground with no family connections. It should probably be a common one." Shintai made his way up to the doorstep of the Green Gryphon and noted, "Since I have only been here for a short time, I can't say I know any which may be common to this region." With that, he produced a yawn. He was exhausted. |
