Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own.

In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins.

There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free.

Little feet stirred leaves as a small figure rushed in the direction of a rabbit, strangely enough not alarming the preoccupied rodent. Cassie gave a squeal of delight, brown hair floating behind her as she ran, hazel eyes squinting in delight.

From the brush to her right, an arrow flew swiftly, the metal head burying deep into the rabbit's neck, severing the spine. The rodent was thrown back several feet, landing on its back with its head at an odd angle.

Cassie's eyes opened wide, sprinting into the clearing as fast as she could, worry flooding into her mind, corrupting her joy. She stopped next to the corpse, lifting its head in her small, delicate hands.

“Oh, Mr. Rabbit... don't go to sleep...” She said sadly, in a sort of whine. A man with a bow stepped out of the brush, frowning at the sight before him. Deciding it was best to leave and find some other dinner, the hunter took off the way he came, nocking another arrow and hoping the little girl hadn't seen him.

Cassie lifted the rabbit to her chest, pulling the arrow from the lifeless, motionless body. Hugging it to her chest, she closed her eyes, not noticing the blood leaking and staining her white blouse. Humming a tune, she rocked the motionless body back and forth, feeling a tingling warmth running through her hands.

When she stopped and opened her eyes, the rabbit's ears were perked up, the gaping hole in its neck gone without a trace. Cassie felt a little dizzy, but highly pleased that the rodent was alive. “yay! You woke up Mr. Rabbit!” She squealed, squeezing it to her before letting it go, watching the resurrected bunny hop away.

The sounds of a child's pleasure floated on the wind, carrying through the forest. In the process of chasing yet another butterfly, Mahea stopped in surprise when she heard the delighted squeals. Despite the fact that her memory was atrocious, she'd recognize that little voice from anywhere. True, she'd only met its owner once before but she'd taken a sure liking to the girl and she had, in fact, wanted to claim the girl as her own. Several events at the party had prevented her from doing that but nothing would stop her now.

Mahea raced through the forest, the skirts of her pale pink dress dancing around her legs as she ran. Wearing a dress while around all these bushes and trees probably wasn't the best of ideas but she somehow managed to keep her clothing from catching on any stray branches, some random trick she'd learned decades ago.

She arrived at the clearing and immediately went still, gold eyes taking in everything as she scanned the area. Cassie stood, clutching what appeared to be a rabbit's limp body to her chest, distress visible on her face. A few feet to her left, a hunter had appeared, stepping out of the underbrush to claim his kill but he retreated back, apparently unwilling to attract the young girl's attention. Mahea's lips curled back from her teeth, her fangs bared at the man even as her anger grew. He'd harmed her Cassie and for that he would pay.

There was an odd darkness that always lurked beneath the gold of her eyes though it was hardly ever visible to others. Only sometimes did it occasionally peak its head up so that a hint of it could be seen. Today, it rose to the surface, expanding until the whole of her irises were encased in a strange shadowy blackness. Her child-like mentality faded away beneath the onset of her anger and her fury and she launched herself after the man, her feet silent beneath her. Within moments she had located the hunter and, using only the momentum from her leap, she knocked him to the ground. Her claws sliced past the barrier of his clothing and armor, digging deep into his flesh even as her fangs located his throat. She'd ignored his struggles before, her demon strength easily keeping him pinned, so when she went to bite his throat, he wasn’t able to stop her. She ground her teeth in deep before jerking her head back, taking with it a large chunk of flesh and blood, leaving behind a gaping hole where the man's throat had previously been. The man let out a gurgle or two before falling still and Mahea spit his flesh out, rising to her feet gracefully.

By the time she'd returned to the clearing, Cassie was squealing happily again. Mahea stepped forward from the brush, skipping towards the little girl. "Hello sweetheart," she crooned to the girl, the darkness fading from her eyes until only the gold remained and it appeared to glitter in the light. She'd wiped the blood from her face and hands but there wasn't anything she could really do about the blood on her dress right now and had, in fact, already forgotten it was there.

Cassie giggled as the rabbit disappeared, off to return to its life without knowing what had been avoided by cassie showing up. Giggling, she turned to walk away, just in time to see mahea walk into the clearing. Giggling, the little girl ran up to her, burying her face in the woman's dress.

“Mahea!” She squealed, hugging tightly, noticing the blood on her dress. Frowning, she poked it. Some of it came off on her finger, shining red on the pale white skin. Sniffing it, she puckered her face, forgetting she had blood on her own blouse.

“You have people juice on you miss mahea.” She said worriedly. “Did you get hurt?” She asked, looking the way the woman had appeared from.

Mahea looked surprised but it soon turned to pleasure as the little girl ran up to her, throwing her arms around her and hugging her tightly. She smiled down at her, automatically wrapping her arms around Cassie's much smaller form. She vaguely remembered having scared the girl with a single touch last time so she'd apparently done something to make the girl really like her. She wasn't exactly sure what she'd done as she couldn't really remember the specifics, but that was alright.

"People juice?" Mahea frowned, looking rather confused for a few seconds before she realized that Cassie was referring to the red stains on her dress. She laughed, pulling the child back close to her body with another hug. "You mean blood and no, I'm not hurt. I just met someone that wasn't very nice... He was a meanie," she added with a little giggle, pleased again when she found that the girl was worried about her. "And besides, you've got blood on your shirt too." She almost started to get angry again at that but she remembered that the hunter had been taken care of and that the bunny was apparently alive again, so all was well.

Cassie looked alarmed at her explanation. “Is he hurt?” She asked, eyes wide. “Is he asleep?” She squealed, grabbing handfuls of Mahea's dress and squeezing. Frowning, cassie jumped to the side and ran the way Mahea had come from.

Cassie came across the body soon enough, seeing the gaping wound in his neck. Frowning, cassie walked over to the corpse's side and knelt down, eyebrows knitting together. Not bothered by the wounds, she placed both hands over the man's throat, concentrating, trying to touch the tingling feeling.

Slowly it built up in her palms, feeling warm again. Cassie let the spell go, the healing spell working fast. The man's throat healed itself, flesh knitting back together, reforming seamlessly. He lay quietly, still lifeless.

She couldn't explain why, but she knew what to do. Cassie placed a hand over the man's heart, the next spell building up. Taking in a slow, deep breath, she released the next spell, calling his spirit back to his body. The man gasped for air, sitting up and coughing.

Cassie fell backwards onto the ground, eyes clenched shut, head spinning. The man got up, seeing the bloody girl, and took off as fast as his legs could carry him, terrified of this little girl.

Unlike the rabbit, he knew what just happened.

Cassie opened her eyes, smiling as the trees spun around her. “Mahea, the trees are being silly. Tell them to stop dancing.” She giggled, sitting up, swaying in place.

“Let's go swimming!”

The alarm that was perfectly visible on Cassie’s face had Mahea instantly tensing up, her eyes scanning the area in search of whatever it was that had bothered the girl. But then she spoke and she looked down at the girl, confused. Had Cassie missed the part where Mahea had told her that the man was a meanie? Why should she care if that jerk was hurt?

Mahea trailed after the girl, looking rather puzzled. She moved at a slower pace and so, by the time she arrived, the corpse was no longer a corpse. Well, it was still technically a corpse but it had been completely healed. She studied the girl curiously; the child was obviously quite powerful that she could resurrect the dead at such a young age. If she hadn’t wanted to take the child as her own before, Mahea definitely wanted to now.

She tensed when the man suddenly gasped for air, first sitting and then leaping to his feet. She had to force herself to stay still, to keep herself from going after him. She however, couldn’t keep herself still when she saw Cassie fall back, collapsing. She’d obviously overused her strength but that didn’t keep her from worrying. Mahea was at her side in an instant, kneeling down beside the child. She felt some small relief when the child sat up but she reached out, drawing Cassie to her when she started swaying in place.

Cassie’s comment surprised a laugh from the demon and she smiled, hugging the girl close to her. “The trees aren’t dancing, silly, that’s you moving,” she told her as one hand absently began stroking Cassie’s hair.

“Swimming? I love swimming!” Mahea squealed, her worry replaced with a good dose of excitement.

Cassie frowned at Mahea's explanation. “But I'm not moving. I'm lying here. So it must be the forest dancing around.” She said, stony in her child's logic. Things slowed down and she sat up, still lightheaded, but still alive. At the most, at her age Cassie should have been able to heal bruises and scratches, maybe a semi-deep cut. But she had healed a torn body and brought back two beings to life today. And as Cassie didn't usually use magic, it would suggest that this was special.

Perhaps not all of it was spells.

Cassie giggled, light returning to her eyes in full force. “Yay!” She squealed, hugging Mahea and standing up. Thinking about what had happened, Cassie felt a little embarrassed she had fallen over. If she was going to do what she did, she couldn't be falling over all the time.

“Miss Mahea?” She asked, a little shy now. “Can you teach me to help wake people up better?” She asked quietly before giving her a big toothy smile, eyes shining in a puppy-like fashion. Laughing, she spun around, giving the woman no time to answer before speeding down the trail in the direction of the lake.

"No silly, the trees aren't dancing. They can't dance," Mahea explained, just as set in her own logic as Cassie was set in hers. "Trees are rooted to the ground. You aren't moving either, but your brain is." She nodded at her explanation, as though it made perfect sense. If one understood the complexity of the brain, then her reasoning did actually make some bit of sense, though her explanation would be considered crude at best.

Mahea stood when Cassie did and she smiled down at the girl, pleased that she was feeling better. She was thrown off balance, however, when the child asked her to teach her how to 'wake up' people better. She understood what Cassie meant as soon as she said it, that she wanted to learn to revive the dead better, but Mahea was still left rather unsure. Considering the damage that had been done to her mind, there were many things Mahea simply did not remember how to do. Her magic was quite limited for the most part so how could she possibly teach the girl ways to improve upon her talents?

Mahea was saved from answering as Cassie ran off before she could even open her mouth to speak. "Wait for me!" She called out, the child's eagerness infecting her and she raced after the girl. It was only a matter of seconds until she caught up of course, but Mahea enjoyed herself anyway.

"Ready to swim now?"

Cassie squealed as Mahea ran after her, catching up quickly. When she called to wait up, Cassie only ran harder, tired muscles being re-energized in waves. Once she broke the treeline, the girl walked calmly towards the lake, wrapping two hands around mahea's right.

“Yes!” She smiled wide enough to push her eyes closed, bouncing on the balls of her feet as she walked. Letting go, she ran towards the water and jumped in, putting her hands in front of her to go in deeper, diving to the bottom.

Coming back up, Cassie laughed. “Come in Mahea!”

She’d called to the child to wait up and though she had actually caught up with her, Cassie only ran faster. Mahea kept up with her with little difficultly but she did feel some small pleasure that the girl was able to run for as fast and as long as she had; she was in quite good shape. And that was a good thing, a small voice whispered in the back of her head, it meant that she would be able to run and more than likely escape from anyone who meant her harm. Not that Mahea planned on being away from her long enough for another to try and harm her.

They broke the tree line then and Cassie’s hands wrapping around one of her own brought her back from her thoughts. Mahea smiled back down at her and then watched as she ran forward and jumped right in. She laughed as Cassie resurfaced, poking her tongue out. “I’ll come in as soon as my dress is off... I don’t want to mess it up ‘cause then it wouldn’t be pretty and I like pretty things.” Even as she spoke, her hands were reaching up and behind her to grab at the laces holding the pink dress to her form. Though it took a try or too, she managed to untie the knot and then loosen the dress enough that it simply slipped off her form, pooling around her feet. She stepped out of the circle, straightening her sleeveless white, thigh length shift as she did so.

Once Mahea had that taken care of, she skipped forward to the shore. She dipped one pale foot in to check the temperature before jumping in as Cassie had done moments before. While still underwater, she swam beneath the girl to tickle at her feet before surfacing beside her.

Cassie giggled underwater as Mahea tickled her feet, watching the pretty woman rise up. Cassie followed suit, breaking the surface. The fresh air assaulted her face with a wave of cold, waking her up completely from her metaphysical weariness.

“Do you like swimming, Miss Mahea?” Cassie asked, nodding herself. “I do. I feel like I can fly! Like the dirt isn't trying to hug me.” She frowned. “But dirt can be fun! Especially when it gets wet and slimy!” She closed her fingers around an imaginary handful of mud, squealing with delight, laughter akin to the pealing of bells.

Pretending to wash imaginary mud away, she moved forward to hug Mahea, stopping her kicking as she forgot how to stay above.
