| Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit. Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own. In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins. There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free. Create a character now! If you're already a member, you can log into your account below: |

Her eyebrows rose high on her forehead. Lehona was not quite sure what to think at the moment. There were questions that burned to be answered in the back of her throat, but Master Yaksha continued too quickly for her to let her curiosity out. It sounded as though he lived a tortured life until recently. Killing and not wanting to take a life must have been a terrible thing. A wave of calmness cooled her emotions and though she could not settle down for more of the bruschetta. "It was just startling was all and.. well.. you have to know that it is sometimes difficult to read your intentions. You come off very cryptic.." For a few moments the only thing that moved was her voice. She stood in the doorway but had no intention of leaving. Before her was a man, just as any other given a few differences here and there. He looked unreal, like something out of a horrid child's nightmare, but still there was something about him that kept her intrigued. "You know.."She said as she moved from the way out toward where he sat in his chair, "You don't have to hide who you are if I have already seen.." Reaching out, she moved to push the hood back again to reveal the startling face the hide beneath it. Lehona looked down at the man and parted a small sympathetic smile. As her fingers reached toward the fabric, the half-elf tilted her head slightly to one side as she pondered his last words. "What exactly would there be for me to forget?" It was obvious that he knew more of her than she of him. Why had been answered, though still she wasn't quite sure why that was. How was still unresolved and when had not been touched yet either. In time he might share the answers with him, but for now he required something else. Lonely, she thought, he seemed very lonely even though he was surrounded by his own servants. Besides, everyone needed a friend? |

As Lehona reached out, Yaksha waved a hand with shocking quickness, and then let out a soft cry. As soon as he spoke, the air around him seemed to shimmer, and as the hood moved down, a pair of muddy orange eyes peered at her hopefully, and with a warmth that was shocking. Rather than a terrible skeleton, a monster from some child's story, a man of 20 stood before her, his hair raven-black and slicked neatly. He cocked his head at her, then let loose a soft chuckle. "Surprised you, did I? I felt you may be more familiar with a form like this." Yaksha's skin was haggard and stretched taut over his face, and he still seemed to be corpulent, but his form now seemed much more normal. His eyes bulged and watered, presumably from the pressures going on inside his body. He spun on the heel of his foot confidently, giving off an aura of simultanious calm and limitless energy. He seemed perpetually on the verge of breaking into dance, but instead he simply settled on whistling softly. He looked over his shoulder, and chuckled wryly. "More bruschetta, love? I've made plenty." Yaksha vanished into the kitchen, leaving Lehona to her devices for several moments, before returning with a plate, laden with several more slices of bruschetta. "You asked what you had that you wanted to forget. I beleive that's the sort of thing you should be telling me." He slid the plate onto the table effortlessly, and then sat across from her, his silken voice beginning to draw her in once more. "No one should ever be completely content with how their lives. There must be something you'd rather not remember." His hand snaked across the table gently, beckoning her to take it. "Spend the night. Let me know what it's like to be cared for once again." |

The hand that waved hers did not shock her as much as his cry did. For a moment the half-elf thought that she might have hurt him. Lehona knew that she had hurt him, but not physically by her touch. This new face was easier to look at, but being a woman with a curious nature, she had hoped to look at his face instead. This was good though, a break from the unnatural would also help to calm her nerves and steady her breath. Everything seemed to be happening very quickly and she forced herself to sit back down to make the dizzy spin stop. Her stomach wasn't quite settled either, not from his looks but from the up and down of the evening. That, mixed in with the dizzy spell, Lehona wasn't quite sure what was what. And when he offered her more of his delicious dish, she wanted to refuse. The smell of it still lingered in the room and the taste on her lips, but eating in her current state seemed a poor idea. Even as she opened her mouth to protest, he had whisked away back down the hallway before the words could be spoken. While he was away she turned over the pet name that he had used just before he had left. Her father used to call her mother Love so much that she had once thought, when she was very little, that it had been her mother's name. The thought both warmed and chilled her and as a result goosebumps prickled up and down her arm. She rubbed her arms vigorously to make them go away. He entered the room with another plate of bruschetta which smelled even more delicious than the last. There was no way that she would be able to sample more of his cuisine with her dizzy head and fluttering stomach. Lehona told herself to calm down and get a grip before she was sick or worse fainted. Part of her wanted to run, run far away without looking back. But that would be too cowardly and cowardly was not the way she wanted to live so she continued to sit, her eyes drooling over the food he had prepared for her though she did not have the stomach to consume anymore at the moment. "It would be unreasonable to think that I could make it back to my home this late in the evening. The closest inn could be just as near as the Cottage, so it looks as though I will be staying for the evening." She spoke to him with an air of fact as though she had carefully thought things through. He had already asked her several times to stay the night and she evaded answer every time. Still, he was persistent and it was only logical that she stay with it being so late in the evening. He asked for her hand without words and as she stared into his eyes, she yielded it to him. Her shaking fingers resting delicately in the palm of his hand. "As for forgetting things, some of us are content with our lives just the way they are. Why forget anything, even the hardest moments if given the chance. Our entire life molds us.." It was something that her father used to say and the thought of him pained her. Since she was already thinking of him, she thought of how long it had been since she had last seen him. It seemed ages ago, she thought with a simple smile. Lehona's mind turned over a dark thought as she sat neatly holding Yaksha's hand, one that she would share with only herself. If she were the type of woman who chose to forget the bad, she would forget his face and her initial reaction. But even if she were to forget, he wouldn't. She could only try to make that up to him now with the damages already done. Perhaps he was the forgiving kind, he sure acted it. |

Yaksha leaned forward, his eyes calm and mesmerizing. He grasped her hand between his, and began to intone once more, the words and his gentle grip beginning to draw her in once more. "Lehona, don't stay because you have to. Don't MAKE UP reasons to spend the night with me. Don't say you have to stay. Just...stay. We don't always need to justify ourselves. Sometimes, it's enough to just want to do something." He rose a hand to her cheek, running it along her cheek softly. Despite the fact that he was nearly dead, there was no scent of death, only of sweat and lye, of lavender and honey. Yaksha's hand drifted across her lips slowly, sensually, and he began to whisper at her lovingly. "So young, so sweet. I could spend all night with you, Lehona." His other hand went to her hair and began to run through it slowly. "You're a beautiful woman, Lehona. Please don't just think of this as an inn. I'd like to be your friend." His smile was cool, but hid a deep and powerful lonliness, a hunger and desperation that was almost heartwrenching. "I've spent too long in this place alone. Too long in this LIFE alone. Surrounded by friends, but always so very along, Lehona..." Tears began to spill forth from his eyes, and he turned away quickly, his voice cracking under the weight of agony and his hands flying to his face. "I'm sorry, dear. That was way out of line for me, and I wouldn't expect you to forgive me. It's just that...I've never really had someone like you around me. I can feel my heart cracking every time you smile, and I just want to know you're happy. Even if I've nothing to do with it, I want to see you smile." He turned, giving a warm smile as tears continued to stream down his pallid face. "You're better than any celestial when you smile." |
