| Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit. Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own. In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins. There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free. Create a character now! If you're already a member, you can log into your account below: |

Hekto drudged through the snow around Kellen as he left his meeting with Cordella Blacke. She had sent him on yet another errand, one he hoped would not take long. He made his way to the Inn where his brother had taken their payment and gotten himself some milk and some dinner. For being alone with a bag of coin, he was quite responsible. Hekto walked into the door and made eye contact with Maleo. With a quick hand gesture, he motioned for Maleo to pay and exit the Inn. As Maleo walked out, he seemed sad to be leaving his dinner unfinished. "Don't worry little brother," Hekto said, "we're going to get one last trinket and then we'll be eating even better food." The promise of even more delicious meals changed Maleo's mood quite quickly, and he was ready to once again do as big brother asked. Hekto and his brother avoided the roads as they made their way to the location Cordella had told Hekto about. He needed to make sure no one could place him in the area in case he needed to do something less than legal. As they made their way around a collection of trees, Hekto spotted what appeared to be a young woman. She had long auburn hair and appeared to be weilding some sort of bow. Hekto hoped this young lady wasn't going to pose some sort of problem, but these days one couldn't be too sure. |

Slinging her crossbow over one shoulder, Lehona smiled at the target she had just been shooting at. Ever since she had been young, she had excelled in using bows but had decided a few years ago to leave the restrains of the normal bow for the power and ease of the crossbow. So it pleased her that she did just as well with this type of weapon as she had with the other. It didn't surprise her that how dead on she was. While yawning she enjoyed a long, cat-like stretch as she sat upon the turned down bale of hay she had used for target practice. Peacefully content, she combed her slender fingers through the tips of her auburn hair and thought about what she might try next. With the nearing of the new year, there was much to do and so little time to do it in. But she would find the time, one way or the other, just as she always did. Of course, she would have to also squeeze in a bit of time for her spellcasting. Having recently begun to explore this new avenue, she was still excited by the potential of it all. Regardless of how many times she failed at a spell, there was nothing like seeing it finally come to life when cast correctly. That was what drove her on to continue, whether she realized it or not. That and that magic was in her blood, something she would never know. Instantly alert, her eyes narrowed as they searched the area around her. It was an odd sense, but she felt as though there were eyes on her. Obviously no one was around or so she thought, but still she felt uneasy and began to stand to leave. The feeling of being watched did not leave her as she took a few steps in the direction of her home and so she stopped only to turn and search with clever green eyes. |

Hekto watched the young woman carefully as she got up to leave. He had made sure to be as quiet as possible, and even told Maleo to stand back and hide so he would not interfere or give Hekto's position away. This woman knew someone was watching her, and the fact she knew made Hekto nervous. He prided himself on his ability to remain silent and hidden, yet here he was detected, if only in presence. Hekto was sure this could turn into a confrontation. "You seem nervous, stranger," Hekto said in his normal speaking voice. He crouched further behind the tree and prepared to move so he could not be pinpointed. "What's a young lady doing out here in the snow anyway?" As he ended his sentence, he moved as quietly as possible to a new nearby tree. Hekto kneeled down and tried to once again fix his eyes on his target. He was curious if she saw him, or had determined where he was from his voice alone. How good was she, and could combat prove deadly? He asked himself these and other questions as he waited for any sign of a response. |

Intuition had never been her forte so it surprised her to hear a voice calling to her from the night. Tilting her head to one side, Lehona's eyes narrowed curiously as they concentrated on the trees and brush that lay several yards ahead of her where the voice had sounded. To her disappointment, she saw nothing and so she frowned a moment as she stood straight again after having leaned forward a little in as if that would help her to see through the obstruction of leaves. The darkness of night had never been a problem for her, but it was difficult to see past solid objects she mused. "Well, I thought that I had been alone and I..", she was unsure exactly what it had been that caused her to stop. She continued, but slowly, as if she wasn't absolutely positive that she was explaining it correctly. "I felt something you could say. I'm allowed to be just a little nervous when alone and someone's watching. Wouldn't you say?" Her voice was light, untouched by the fear that had already started to prickle at the hairs on the back of her slender neck. She realized that her cheeks were freezing and that they were surely red from licks of the sporadic winds that rose that evening. Her large wondering eyes turned up to look through her lashes at the few trees that stood watch over her ground. He could be anywhere right now, it was almost as if he were stalking prey the way he kept hidden. The village was not far from here, she thought as her eyes wandered back across the trees. She could alert the guard and they would protect her as was their duty. She inwardly gave a heavy sigh. But, she wouldn't run like a scared little girl anymore. This was what she had been waiting for. This was a chance to prove that she was no longer hapless and that she could hold her own when pitted against threat. Lehona felt ready, and as she turned her head and lowered her eyes to listen, she thought of what her father would say. |
