| Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit. Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own. In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins. There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free. Create a character now! If you're already a member, you can log into your account below: |

Cordella Blacke kicked at the snow because she hated to be kept waiting. Especially when she was waiting for affirmation of a job that she had paid good coin for. No matter, what was a few hours out in the cold when it meant that she would never have to lay her eyes on him again? That thought make her smile, a true smile instead of one she had to fake. She pulled her long violet hair to the front so that she could idly tease at the ends. Oh yes, when the chump finally showed up to let her know that the deed was done, she would be one happy lady. |

Hekto drudged through the snow, every chilling step piercing at his skin as he walked to his destination. His little brother was barely able to keep up with Hekto's speed, as his legs were still short like any child's would be. As he grew colder, Hekto's tempter began to flare up with his yelling, and flashes of red could be seen accompanying him from his eyes. He hated walking through the snow, and contemplated simply not showing up more than once as he continued on his path. Maleo found Hekto's complaining quite humorous, and could be heard giggling as he tried to keep pace. "That woman better pay me extra for this," Hekto yelled back to his brother. "All this snow is beginning to get on my nerves, and it's almost not worth my payday as is." Hekto was never fond of stealing things that he could not keep, but his employer said he would be compensated handsomely, and that made it worth it...almost. Finally Hekto reached his destination outside Kellen. He could see a cloaked figure with dazzling violet hair. "Finally, we're here Maleo. Give me the bag," he said as he reached back. Maleo scurried up to his brother and handed him the bag he had been clutching. |

Midnight swooped down to rest upon Cordella's slender shoulder just moments before the duo had arrived. Just as the raven had heard every word as the two brother's approached, so had she. It pleased her to find that the eldest of the two was in such a dissatisfied mood, almost as much as she was with finally having the work finished. Silently thanking her companion for a job well done, her eyes followed to the bird and Cordella winked. "Do you have what I asked for? Or have you come all this way just to disappoint me Hekto?" Her painted lips curved into another easy smile which chased into her amethyst colored eyes. Goading the hired help was nearly as much fun as watching chaos wreck it's way through an otherwise uneventful evening. The only think that disheartened her from such entertainment was the prospect of actually having to pay the man. |

Hekto's eyed flared a brilliant red as Cordella spoke to him. "Do not attempt to insult me by suggesting I would return without the item, woman," Hekto roared. Maleo could tell his brother was angry, and his eyes flickered a little as he began to fear the possible outcomes. "I spent two days stalking that old man, and for what?" Hekto opened the bag and pulled out a brilliant silver chain with a blue diamond attached to it. "Some trinket for your dinner parties?" He tossed the necklace towards Cordella's feet without breaking his gaze on her. "My little brother almost got hurt climbing through his window no less, but that has nothing to do with our arrangement I suppose," Hekto said as he looked back upon Maleo. He let out a heavy sigh after staring at the child for a few moments. All of this anger was going to do nothing but waste his time, and in the end lessen the pleasure he would get out of his payday. He knew being angry would just mean he would waste his payment on some kind of drink, and that was far from fun. "If you could just pay me now, Cordella," he said as his eyes returned to their calm orange color. "It's cold, I'm hungry, and so is Maleo." Hekto motioned for his brother to step closer, and when he did Hekto rested his palm upon Maleo's head. "What could you possibly want with that little bauble anyway?" |

While Hekto was ranting, Midnight left Cordella's shoulder with indignation to retrieve the blue diamond and it's silver chain from the depths of the snow. Ignoring the flash in both Hekto's and Maleo's eyes, instead she cooed with appreciation to her feathered friend. Waiting until the trinket was in her hand and the raven flew off to the rooftops, she finally spoke in a slow and sly voice that tickled with taunt. "Yes, for my dinner parties." Her long, slender fingers clasped around the shiny bauble as she slipped her other hand into her deep pocket to pull out Hekto's reward which he was so determined to get his hands on. She debated a moment as her eyes narrowed in a mischievous manner, pausing for only a few seconds to ponder what he might do if she completely refused him. But with a sigh she pulled out the very small leather pouch full of coin, weighing it in her hand once or twice before tossing it at Hekto's feet. She would settle for returning the insult and watching him pick up his treasure like a dog with a bone. It was the least she could do especially after all of his whining. Cordella thought him lucky at all, anyone else and she would have found a way to send them on a wild goose chase to find their payment. "You know very well that what I do with my collection is my business alone. And Hekto, if you do not wish to work for me in the future, you need only say the word and I will relieve you from my hire..." Dangling the prospect of work in front of him, Cordella let her humor display plainly across her face. |

Hekto looked down upon the bag Cordella had tossed at his feet with a smile. "Maleo, pick up our reward and head over to the Inn with it will you. The lady and I need to talk." Maleo did as instructed and scampered off as his eyes began to leave a red trail from his excitement. "Now the idea of getting paid even more sounds pretty good Cordella," Hekto said with a grin, "but somehow I don't feel the need to go stealing dresses or a glass slipper for you in the dead of winter." He hated the idea of taking more money to steal useless items. Hekto wanted fun, enjoyment, a thrill. He had no time for running chores for some bored young lady too frail to do it on her own. Hekto began to slowly step closer to Cordella as he smiled. As he reached arm's length from the violet-haired beauty, he stopped. "Now what could you possibly need me to do that's so important, huh?" As Hekto spoke, he moved his right hand in an attempt to touch Cordella's cheek. |

"Now that's a good boy." Cordella crooned, her lips pursing for one brief moment. She knew what he was and swore that even through the bitter cold she could feel warmth against her cheek. But she knew that this affection was only an attempt for him to turn her pockets out again. There was just something about a man in his line of work that had them all greedy for more. Stepping away from Hekto, Cordella made to circle around his back, the snow crunching beneath her winter boots and her cloak trailing as if on a breeze behind her. So he wanted a bit of entertainment in the dead of winter, it was something she could relate to. Still, she only needed one more piece to complete the set and it would sadden her knowing that discord would not have a turn in this last leg of her plot. "No more rules." She said finally, a noticeable change in her tone as she took a heavy breath. "You do this next job without bickering and I will not confine how it is to be done. You will steal me another trinket but you may..." Cordella paused, choosing her words carefully, "liven things up a bit?" Her brow arched as she stopped her pace in the street and glanced over her shoulder at him. |

Hekto let his arm fall to his side as Cordella circled aaround him. Of course he was merely trying to get more money out of her, but there was something about this woman that screamed mysterious and fun. Hekto took in her words for a moment, and weighed his choices. He could head to the Inn and either rest up for a job tomorrow which would mean even more money, or he could look forward to a day of Maleo asking to be bought candy and toys whenever he came across them. The latter did not sound too pleasant at the moment, despite it's obvious root in safety. "So let me get this straight," Hekto said with a smile, "you want me to go grab some other item for you, and on top of that you somehow think you've been confining my methods of execution?" He took a step towards Cordella so he could whisper to her. "What makes you think I've been following some sort of rulebook up until now, dear lady?" He smiled and looked her in the eye. Cordella was obviously a smart and beautiful young woman, but she was underestimating the lengths Hekto would go to get what he wanted. "I do what I want, and how I want, precious." He once again reached out to touch her cheek. "How exactly do you want me to liven this one up anyway?" He smiled and leaned in to whisper in her ear. "And you better make it fun..." |

"There you go complaining about my good, honest work again." She was growing bored with their back and forth and even more bored with the man who questioned her interests. It wasn't that she had to answer to him, oh no because she did not answer to the genasi or anyone else for that matter. It was more of the fact that she enjoyed having her way without fail. Cordella was done toying with the man, she reached to snatch at his wrist and restrain the hand that grazed her cheek. Had he disappointed her? Her purple eyes narrowed again, this time because her temper flared. She did not appreciate people wasting her time, especially those who she paid. There had been guidelines to their little business arrangement. If he had someone screwed them up, she was going to be very unhappy. "Fun? If you haven't been completing what I've asked of you, then there will be no fun. What did you do with the man Hekto?" Her voice was as soft as a whisper, her attention hanging on the heartbeat of a moment as she waited for his answer. Cordella had met his eyes already, but now she pierced them as if searching for the answer herself. |

Hekto took a step back as Cordella's stare changed. He could tell she was getting annoyed with him at the very least, and that could lead to less enjoyment on his part. Afterall, if she got mad, she could cancel the job, and then Hekto would be bored the next few days. That's definately not an ejoyable alternative this time of year. Hekto took a moment to choose his words carefully. He needed to make sure his tactics didn't sound too coarse, or Cordella may walk off. He began to speak, and then paused for another moment and smiled. "Well, the old man came home as Maleo was crawling out of the window behind me," Hekto recalled for her. "He asked who we were and what we were doing, so I told him my little brother was simply playing Hide and Seek and took his hiding place too far." Hekto stopped and started to chuckle for a moment. He remembered what happened next as troublesome, but comical at the same time. "He didn't believe me of course, so he started to run." Hekto started to mimic the man's face and movements as he told the story. "It was actually little Maleo that ran him down and knocked him out, at eight years old," Hekto exclaimed. "He's quite the little prodigy." At this point Hekto started laughing. He knew it may be an issue, but recalling the sight of a child chase down an old man was too funny for him to hold in the laughter. As his laughter began to die down, Hekto placed his hands on his knees as if to catch his breath. "That boy, he's quite fun to have around you know." |

"Yes, that is an entertaining image," Cordella said with a slow, amused smirk. While she did not find it as entertaining as Hekto, she could still appreciate the idea of a small boy taking down an aged man. However, it did not surprise her much at all seeing as extreme youth and extreme age were usually on even ground in her mind. "Now this next job I have for you may be a bit tricky." There was no doubt that Hekto and his brother would be successful, but the young woman who was keeper to the last piece was sly as a fox. And at times she was even a fox in form which could throw off any under-trained mercenary. "Her name is Blair and you may find her here in Kellen though where I cannot be sure. You will recognize her by sight, you may have crossed her once or twice already. Long black hair that falls well below her waist, pale complexion and normally she carries a polearm. She has a ring, much like the necklace that you brought me. I want it and whatever you do with her.." Again she paused, savoring the possibilities. It would be only too soon, Cordella could nearly taste the freedom. "What you do with her is your business. This time I have no specification for the human, you may do as you please and as you say 'make it fun'." Satisfied with herself, the shape-shifter smiled. She cared little for Hekto's entertainment with the mission she gave him, it was up to him to decide the details now. He had already made it plain that he was not one to live by rules and now was an opportunity to prove it. |
