| Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit. Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own. In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins. There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free. Create a character now! If you're already a member, you can log into your account below: |

Erin had never ever been into the marsh in her life and she had been happy that way because of the many stories she had heard about the animals living in the area. When one of the other members from the guild became sick from a rare herb she had desperately tried to find some kind of cure for him...she had searched around in the library at the guildhall for days without anything that could be useful. Then one day she thought that she would go to the academy of magic and have a look there for something useful in there section of poison. She had more luck there and found out that the herb the friend had eaten was of a rare kind that grew only in the marshlands...the thing was that the cure grew next to the poison at all times...very useful if one knew where to herb itself was. That was why Erin this day stood at the edge of the mysterious marsh, her eyes examined the area in front of her as she stood there....she heard the many sound from the marsh and some of them made her shiver slightly. The wind genasi took a deep breath to focus herself...then she began to walk forward into the marsh. She was on edge all the time because she did not want to be trapped by something or attacked by some hungry beast. Think happy thoughts now Erin...happy thoughts....you are doing something brave and will make so many people happy if you make it though. |

A large form hid beneath the marsh's murky surface. A large dire crocodile rose slowly from the depths and spied on the surrounding marsh with two large eyes. Two nostrils far apart were also visible as Vernon tested the air. The marsh had gained a new guest. Air gensai, it would seem. Not the most appetizing dish, but perhaps he could drag some amusement out of it. She was part human so perhaps she could make a decedent meal, but a young girl like her would likely be able to provide entertainment for more than his tongue. She wasn't far off either. He decided to pull off one of Munwithurix's old tricks, playing with the guest in disguise. He vanished into the marsh and surfaced later as a wood elf near the road with a curious beastial charm about him. She wasn't far away, in fact, it seemed she was just around the bend of the road hidden from view by elderly cypress trees. It seemed she was even headed his way which saved any need of picking up his pace. Vernon walked along the road in her direction, curious as to what nature of fool intruded upon his marsh now. He'd figure out his next course of action after seeing what this young woman was like and own best to deal with her. |

Erin did not know anything of Vernonīs plans or what the rat...creature was doing. She continued to walk and she made sure not to make more sound then what was needed. The disguised lord of the marsh came into her vision as she walked around a turn in the road close to the old cypress trees. The girl was very surprised and for a few seconds the air around her began to move in a strange way....but then she noticed that it was not a beast...it was an elf...wood elf by the way he appeared to be. The wind genasi placed one hand on her chest and took a deep breath, she closed her eyes for a few seconds. As she gathered her thoughts for a few seconds she had the time to take a closer look at the man...he had a very beastial charm around him. Her first thought was that could this be someone living in the marsh? Since he was a wood elf she would not be surprised at all, they lived in the woods most of them and why not a marsh. But how was she going to talk to him? She had never meet a wood elf before in her life...elfs in general was a little odd...and because most of the men looked so cute Erin usually was very shy around them....but this was for her friend and she had to find the cure. Yes Erin was a very naive girl...she did not think about the things her mother told her about not talking with strangers in the forest on the way to grandmothers house. ((:P)) "You startled me" she said, more as a reaction then that she had thought out it. "I was not expecting to meet anyone like this....." her voice died away since she did not know what to say...she noticed that a slight blush began to appear around her cheeks and ears. |

(Yes that was indeed an lol moment) She seemed quite surprised to see someone other than herself on the road. Perhaps she was merely surprised it wasn't some beast with a taste for her flesh, though she would be quite wrong in her assumption. "I did not mean to, but how were you expecting to meet someone?" Vernon asked curiously as he tilted his head slightly to the side. He knew the answer was close to the expectation of the dark and gruesome to be the ones to visiting her rather than one as marvelous and stunning looking as himself. "I suppose that's of little importance," Vernon shrugged after offering little time for a reply. "What brings a fine lass like you to a place like this?" He still had to figure out how he was going to answer the question himself. Chances were he could use her reason or swiftly weave a lie of his own if needed. Her answer would also serve as a got measure of how much fun she would be and how long it would likely be before she was staring down throat of some big bad wolf. Perhaps not Rabid, his other pets needed play time and feeding too. Perhaps he could show her his cute little kitty that seemed not to fit any three of the words. |

It took her a few seconds to understand what he had just said. "How did I expect to meet someone? Well...I....I do not really know...I mean I hoped I would meet someone who live in this marsh...but I did not think it would go so quickly I guess" she moved one hand though her hair as she was talking...she was a little unsure what she would say. But before she had more time to talk he continued to talk and she was happy to leave the subject behind. His question did not come as a surprise and she had after all been looking for someone that could help her find the herb she was looking for. "I am here on the account of a friend that has fallen very ill from a herb coming from this marsh" she picked out a few notes she had inside of her dress and looked at it for a moment. "It is said that the antidote to the herb is another herb growing right next to it all the time....I know you will most likely say something like that someone like me should not walk around in such a dangerous place....that is why I hoped to find someone who was living in this march, someone that could help me find this antidote." she smiled a slightly unsure smile as she looked at the stranger. She found it that he was looking at her in a weird way....but she decided to ignore that for now...since he seemed to be a nice person. |

Looking for one who lived in the marsh? Did she truly value her life? Did she have any idea what would likely when she met one who actually lived in the marsh? Didn't she know of his reputation? Her naivety showed clear and true when she spoke of actually helping someone, someone who was poisoned no less. Why on earth would he ever consider aiding some for such a frivolous matter. The twit was dumb enough to get poisoned, let him solve his own or die trying. The options he was left with were clear, trade the girl's blood for the cure, kill her scare her off, or send her of with a false cure that would only matters worse instead. He knew the herb she spoke and it might not be so difficult to convince her that she should instead be living with another more baleful herb. "Trust me when I say you have no desire to meet any that call themselves living in this marsh. Only one person lives here and he would sooner eat you than aid you. Surely you have heard the horrific tales of the Master of the marsh? Luckily for you I found you before he did. Fortunately for you, I know of the herb that will heal your friend as well, though it is not located next to the toxic herb as you heard," Vernon explained calmly. "Follow me and I can help you find the antidote and get you of here safely," Vernon lied as he turned in the direction she came from, though he was not sure which part he was lying on. He wasn't sure he was going to kill her here or let her flee with the new poison. |

Erin looked at the stranger..."Yes I have heard of him, and I`m sure he is very dangerous...but I have to do this and help my friend....he really need this cure and I do not care if the lord would find me...besides I think that even he canīt be all bad? He lives in this beautiful swamp where there is so much life and not in some old graveyard....a person like that canīt be all bad" she nodded slightly to herself as she said this. She smiled and was happy she had meet this stranger to help her...she quickly walked after him as he began to walk...it was still not all lost then...she was going to help the man. Her eyes moved around as she walked...this marsh was creepy but with a natural beauty to it...all the sounds of birds and different animals...she liked it. |

How deliciously naive? Just because there was life in the Marsh did not mean it's master was by any means kind. The ruler of a graveyard had nothing to rule. Not to mention 'citizens' were always treated differently from unwanted guests. He wanted to sample her naive innocence which was sure to taste exquisite. Yet, he was more inclined to let her see her friend die despite her best efforts. Her compliment to the marsh may have added a few years to her life. "Even if he weren't all bad, chances would be against you seeing his good side," Vernon said as he somehow contained is laughter at the irony. Technically there others who managed a peaceful audience, though it was laziness to blame not any sense of goodness. "But, enough about of him. What about you? Where do you come from? You clearly aren't native to norwood," Vernon asked trying not to overload her with questions, though even then Vernon doubted she would catch the malignant intent behind them. As the saying went,he'd have his cake and eat it too. Find out were the little lass lived and perhaps he could make a visit later and sweet little treat that she would no doubt prove to be. |

"Even if he weren't all bad, chances would be against you seeing his good side," Erin thought about these words..."Might be true" she said calmly. "and with my curse I guess the chances would shrink even more" she shook her head slightly, with all her bad luck that was true. "I only hope I will not make enemies here today...there is to much death in the world as it is." her gaze examined the area around them as they walked. The marsh was a beautiful place with all the growing things and such....why people did not like this place was unknown to her anyway. "But, enough about of him. What about you? Where do you come from? You clearly aren't native to norwood," Erin smiled slightly and shook her head to his question. "No that is right, I am not from norwood, I was born and grew up in Taras with my mother. But I also spent much time with my father at the wind temple." she did not say that her mother had been a human and her father an air spirit. But since she was a wind genasi it would not be to hard to figure out..."There is not much more then that to tell where I came from really." she liked this stranger and he did not seem like a bad person really...and he was somewhat good looking to. |

Too much death? there was no such thing, even when the four horsemen would awaken and ride to ravage the land and usher in Apocalypse, there wouldn't be too much death. Death was the only unquestionable reward of living. Even the so called immortal were destined to die as all would in the moments of Apocalypse. The tale of where she came from was hardly useful at all though it did give way to his next question given state of what had once been her home. "Ah, I hope no one was at home when that horrible incident befell Taras. That would make the loss all the more tragic," Vernon noted as he wrapped his arm around her consolingly. The smell of her sweet innocence was all the more tantalizing up close, perhaps letting her leave the marsh alive was a poor idea after all. Vernon breathed in deeply almost as if enamored by her. "But where do you stay now? Surely not in the ashes of Taras," Vernon asked. He was rather amused that she was quite content to leave him to do the asking while staving any curiosity of her own. Such a foolish trusting nature, only made her all the more appetizing. |

Erin did not reply to the question that man asked at first...she had lost someone....her mother had been there during the attack. She sighed slightly, she was such a useless child if she could not even be there to protect her own mother from something like demons....she really was useless just like her mother always complained about. "Mother was home when It happened, she was killed in the fire...she used pretty strong medicines against her rheumatism, to help her sleep. The only comfort I can have is that she most likely did not feel anything" her voice sounded sad but there was something empty about it to...hard to tell why. Erin could not be sure if her mother had been in pain or not....but she only made a wild guess. She was glad that the man changed the subject since she did not want to think about what had happened before. "No I do not live in the ruins of Taras, I live in Cascadia now." she made a pause and then she remembered that she still did not know the name of the man at all and she had not told her name to him. "How very rude of me not to introduce myself. My name is Erin Shander" she smiled slightly at the man. "and who might I have the honor of meeting in this marshland?" she was curious to know more about this man...he seemed mysterious...and why was he here in the marsh anyway? Weird. The thought that it could be the self proclaimed lord of the marsh did not strike her at all. |

The best Vernon could do was look away as she spoke of her mother. He could get his face to show remorse. He couldn't even hide his cruel grin very well, though it was only a slight grin. Pity it wasn't likely she was in pain before she was reduced to ash. Vernon looked back when she mentioned her name. Fairly insignificant, though it certainly would make finding her in Cascadia much easier. Now it was his turn to give an even less significant name that was not his own. "Harvar Inolas, and I wish we were to meet in a less hostile environment. I neither of us would make such rude mistakes if that were the case," Vernon grinned as he pulled away. Chances were he would forget the name in minutes, though it was not likely he would have to use it again. "Hold, there is something amiss," Vernon said as he moved to halt her with his arm. Nothing was, though Vernon intended to change that after creating the opportunity. "Can you defend yourself if it is one of the marshes hungry denizens?" Vernon whispered as he looked to her with a false hint of worry. Whether the answer was yes or no, he intended it to use it to make his temporary escape would allow to call forth marsh dwellers seeking a meal. He'd let her live, but that didn't mean she would be unharmed. |

Erin nodded as he told his name. "Very nice to meet you Harvar" she said with a smile. "Yes I agree that it would have been much nicer to meet during other times. But things rarely go in a way we would have wished for these days." her gaze calmly looked around as they walked. She looked at the elf for a moment to....she did not see anything to special about him apart from the fact that he was an elf of course. He seemed like a nice person and Erin was happy she ran into someone to help her. She stopped as he stretched out his arm to stop her, she quickly looked around but did not see anything special at all. What was she going to say to his words about if she could protect herself....yes of course she could...a little....but she was not at all good at it...she was a healer and not a fighter after all. "Well maybe a little" she said as a reply...but she did not sound to sure of that. "I mean I can do some things....but you know nothing major like many others....I`m a healer after all....I do not do very much fighting." her eyes looked around again for a moment and then they stopped at Harvar again. "What you think it was you heard?" |

Not sure of her self at all, that meant the answer was no. Hopefully she was more than just a novice healer, at least for her sake. Either way he was sure to see her screaming and possibly bleeding. "I'm not sure, yet seems eve the trees are ready to pounce. Wait here, I think I heard something up ahead," Vernon instructed before he stealthily advancing down the road by moving for tree to tree to hide from a foe that didn't exist. He halted just a few feet outside her estimated ear shot. He remained out of her sight as he began his spontaneous yet malicious plot. A low grow rumbled through the air, enough for her to hear as well as Vernon's pets around the marsh. A call to arms understood only by the beasts. Results were almost immediate. The force became alive with wild howls and growls and other animalistic callings. Behind Erin two large eyes surfaced out of the water as they drew steadily closer to the road. The large crocodile silently closed the gap between them before suddenly lurching out of the water and towards the healer with its mouth invitingly open for it's newest guest. Vernon would have to return to her soon to be convincing, but first a plant to further the poison rather than stop it had to be found without her catching sight of him. Not that that would be too hard a feat, he knew the Marsh as well nearly as well as his own hand. |

Erin listened to the elven man as he was talking. "Okey, please be careful" she said as he walked away, she followed him with her eyes until she could not hear him anymore...then she looked around the area around her...she had not seen or heard anything...but Harvar might be better to spot things then what she was. She jumped a little when she heard the strange sound, then she looked around as it was followed by the sound of different animals....right that was very weird. Erin did not see the crocodile right away, but she turned around when she heard the sound of it moving though the water...her eyes widened slightly and by instinct she raised her hand and fired of a blast of wind...this would only force the animal backwards and did not do any damage. Erin quickly began to walk backwards away from the dangerous animal...this was no good! She did not want to harm it even if she could do so...her wind powers was useful but the damaged it did was not very great....and she did not like to use them. She wanted to shout at Harvar to get his attention...but if there was something even more dagnerous up ahead she might endanger his life if she shouted. |
