| Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit. Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own. In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins. There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free. Create a character now! If you're already a member, you can log into your account below: |

It was clear that the flesh was called for some reason as the pool reacted to it almost immediately. Shortly after even more liveliness was shone by the puddle. It certainly was not something gone wrong as their was still a sense of wicked glee plastered upon the mage's face. There had to be something very impressive waiting to greet him. Vernon was glad to hear that it was almost done, but only made him more curious as to what would be fruit of the mage's work. Vernon was amused by the infused's next comment. He had not thought of sacrificing the bats, though this was not out any love for the creatures or need to protect them. Their job after all was to go in harm's way so he was out out of it. "I have plenty of both, but it seemed easier to use something already desecrated and I figured I could part with one of my more desecrated snacks. I'd like to see this Marionette at no less than it's prime after all," Vernon grinned. Vernon was slightly annoyed though. If he could have used one of the bat's that would have been loads better than tossing in such a delicious, scrumptious, and intoxicating snack. Vernon set his mind to his words and convincing himself it was surely going to be worth it. Thankfully, the puddle's scent was still entertaining his nose. Perhaps it was it it's siren call that made him pull out the best of what he had. |

Yulth let out another controlled laugh as the rat mentioned the quality of the creation. "It shall not dissapoint," Yulth confirmed as he watched the ground. The view became more impressive as the moments moved forward. The ley lines were faint now, no longer pulsing. The power had been drained. Yulth was not concerned that they would take generations to replenish. He did not have use for them past this evening, no matter the consequences to the balance of nature in the area. He could not make use of small animals and plants, even if the vermin standing near him had a different opinion. The red-etched fist that had pulled out of the puddle earlier now returned. It pushed its way out of the liquid with a sickening cloud of steam. Instead of being pulled back under, it fell back to the solid ground and held tightly to the path. It oozed with the marsh, but veins of fire were burning through. The likeness of stone could be seen near the flames. It pulled at the ground and a second hand appeared, this one burning with blue flames. There was a momentary pause as the arms seemed content with letting the marsh boil off of them. "Yes," Yulth shouted, "It is time! Rise!" |

The bats stirred and began to make bothersome chatter. Such simple creatures were intune with nature even if they were summoned by Vernon. They did not know it was the drained ley lines that disturbed them. Vernon silenced their noise making with a hiss. Even if Vernon knew the fine details of the effects this would have on his marsh, he would hardly care. At worst it would have his trees craving more blood. Vernon was reminded that it had been a while since he followed through with such a request. He would have to start making his pets water the plant life with the blood of others. It did disappoint, yet at the same time did not. He was hoping to see something that looked akin to it's smell. Even from seeing the hands alone he could see what a marvel the infused's creation was. He had no love of art or stone workings, but he had to admit that the golem was a work of art and likely held as much power as beauty. If the rest of it's body was proportional then it's size was quite formidable as well. He would certainly have to find a way to make a use of this mage. Oh what threads they would cut together? "I am Vernon, Master of this marsh. What shall I call you, who commands such amazing arcane knowledge and power? I'm sure by the success of your ritual alone that it is a name that should be feared in every household," Vernon said as he watched the golem. |

The marsh fled into the air in a sickening steam that brought the stench of the dead deep into the nostrils. Yulth did not flinch as he kept his attention pinned on his creation. Its pause was brief. It pulled against the ground of Chaon and lifted itself from its pit of creation. The ground cracked and fell away with a slogging sound as more of the marsh water flowed inward to fill the gaps. It too came up in a dense steam. The creature was breaking the boundary between two seperate existances. Nothingness and life. The marsh could not survive the transition and was instead ejected back into Imythess. The vaporized water was so thick that the rising creature was hidden from view entirely. Yulth stopped his self-indulgent laughter to respond to the rodent, "Master. I enjoy the sound of that. You may call me as such." The mage grinned to himself. He would see if the large vermin, this Vernon, understood the rules of the game. He wasted no time before continuing his statement. "But you may keep this marsh as your own; there are too many stages and too many plays to trifle over this one." |

Given the creature's overabundance of arrogant comment this did not appear to be meant as a joke, but Vernon decided to treat it as such for the present time. "A comedian as well, oh master of golems? Quite the overabundance of talent," Vernon said emotionlessly. He found it too difficult to hide his annoyance with the mage's reply from his voice. It was as far as he would go to humor the infused. Telling him of the Divschatten was now clearly a bad idea. His only interest in the guild would likely be claiming it as his own. The last thing Vernon wanted was the guild ripping itself apart rather than the rest of the world. Lynth certainly seemed more capable of gathering thinking minions than the infused before him. The question now was whether the mage was going to try to put his golem through it's first performance since it's creation. Vernon wasn't much in the mood for such a game. He ponder leaving the mage be. It was doubtful the infused would tell anyone he didn't end up kill later so there would be little harm upon his reputation, yet the human certainly wouldn't deserve leave free of harm and torment. Perhaps he could settle for disabling the golem temporarily and possibly shutting the mage's trap if it came to such a thing. |

Yulth tilted his head back and laughed as the rodent responded without amusement. It was much more entertaining than if he had fallen to his hairy knees and began worshipping Yulth's very presence. The mage wondered if Vernon's insolence was based out of ignorance or confidence. Either would see his death, but did dictate the manner of his end. Yulth would punish the rat should he be capable of sufficient stupidity to not understand his role in their scene. If this tone came out of confidence, Yulth would put him to the test. He felt himself the Master of the Marsh. He would earn his title or be left to rot upon his throne. Yulth wondered if the rodent would prove himself a star performer. Knowing that the marsh was a source of fear and death at the hand of someone worthy would be a valuable asset. Yulth would always know where to return for another game. "All anyone needs is laughter," retorted Yulth sarcastically. He had kept his attention on the cloud of steam that was now dissipating. The golem had completed his transition between realities, and it stood tall. Veins of fire, red and blue, laced its body. It stood tall, nearly eight feet, and held an expressionless gaze. Yulth grinned and began to mouth words softly. The incantation was lost to the abyss. |

The mage certainly had no lack in that department; Vernon almost made brought up the comment, but thought it would be better to drop it. Vernon's appearance was the only thing that had not been responded to with an outburst of laughter, but the infused seemed just as unamused as Vernon by his tone. Nothing openly offensive out of the fellow yet, though the mage was once again making out some spell silently. It was slightly disturbing that not a sound of the incantation came to his well-trained ears. Perhaps some illusion spell was responsible for that. Vernon decided to ignore it for the time being. He didn't need to make himself look threatened or paranoid, certainly not on his own turf. "So now that your spectacular star is born, when will it's first performance be? If it's soon I might have to make sure to attend," Vernon asked as his tail swished steadily behind him with anticipation, though he had feeling he might know the answer. It was possible that the creature's first performance would be here and now, not that Vernon was in the mood to entertain such an affair. |

Yulth's mouth made one last twitch as the incantation was complete. The moon overhead seemed to give a sly grin as the magic began to take root in the rotting marsh. The golem, seemingly without attention, stood motionless and unaware. It would be shaken awake in only a matter of moments. The ground began to move as nearly translucent arms began to pull out of the ground. They were skinless or badly decayed, ghosts at best. These spirits moved faster and their numbers multiplied until the entire area around the golem seemed to be a continuous see of spiritual limbs. Then, the entities rose, and their bodies and tortured faces began to become clear. They flooded forward and seemed to pile on the golem. The construct, born of an eternal war, raised its arms to the sky and looked to the sinister moon as it let out an unwordly howl. The noise was scratchy and deep, as though a bear lived inside of the beast. Soon, it collapsed to its knees and became overwhelmed by the crushing sea of wailing spirits. "The first scene," Yulth noted, "in which the star learns who is the true master." The mage let loose a hearty laugh as the golem began to appear openly tortured, its flaming veins seeming to pulse with anger. It swiped at the spirits but could do nothing but endure the onslaught. |

All but Vernon's tail tense as the begins of the spell where visible. Tasty looking, yet ether-like morsels rose from the earth. Even Vernon's tail froze in place as he noticed where the beings were headed. They weren't headed for him, but rather the golem that had not moved since its emergence. It didn't take long for Vernon's surprise to flee and become replaced with interest. Vernon's tail undulated as he watched the star get put in it's place. "You do well to prove you deserve your role and your name," Vernon nodded as he watched. He almost wished to aid the mage once more, but it was better to avoid doing so. Aside from Vernon being too lazy to do so, there were of course Yulth's words. Vernon certainly didn't have the desire to be master or part master of the golem. Fun was it was to watch and play with, it didn't spread disease, it didn't decay, and it didn't even wield poison. Vernon favored his crystal spider over the mage's golem, though it seemed possible that golem had the capacity for intelligence beyond any of Vernon's pets. Of course when numbers were high enough, intelligence was superfluous. "I knew of none who could make a golem feel pain. Feel woe and despair, but most importantly hatred. It's not generally an area of my interest, yet the puppeteer does so well to captivate the audience," Vernon mused in a manner that made it difficult to tell if the words for the mage or himself. |
