You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins. There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free. Create a character now! If you're already a member, you can log into your account below: |

Norwood Lake was mildly silent this evening, the twilights light not seeming to be reflecting off any living creature aside from the occasional squirrel or deer. The lakes waves calmly brushed upon the shore in a constant rhythm, the sands beneath it following its pace. The moon could be barely seen in the sky, opposed by the sun. By one of the many shores of the lake, a small girl was looking into the merky depths of the water. She sighed lightly and looked to the sun, knowing that she had to leave before sundown. She lifted herself up before walking to a nearby tree, her pace more like a dance than a walk. She picked up her basket that was filled with herbs and berries, and walked down the shore towards the village. after a few moments of walking, something caught the girls eye. It was the sand underneath the water, or more specifically something shiny beneath it. She reached down and grabbed the shiny object, only to feel a sharp pain throughout her entire body. She squirmed away from the lake and the object, but soon felt herself go limp in the grass below her. |

Dot relaxed beneath the towering leaves of the willow trees, covering just enough of the sun to only allow a few rays peek through. She had found the perfect place to be completely alone, at least today. For all she knew, a crowd o f people could burst through the trees at any moment, though she doubted it. Slowly, the siren began to sing to herself, the words inaudible, even to her. It had felt so long ago since the last time Dot had sung a single tune, or stepped foot in the water, but that was a different story entirely. The sound of the leaves rustling above her and the waves brushing upon the shore beside her were so soothing, she began to slowly drift off into a light sleep. Although Dot had decided to take a nap beneath the willow's shades, Lorelei was still wide awake, and annoyed. Sometimes she truly did regret connecting herself to her sister, but it was better than being dead. She wasn't like her dear sister Dot, all quiet and whatnot, she wanted to go running, hit something, swim. Instead, she was forced to do nothing while Dot enjoyed herself. With a huff, Lorelei gave a shot at what Dot was doing; relaxing. To her surprise, it was working, but it didn't last long. "Who interrupted my relaxation?" Lorelei growled. She was unable to see since Dot's eyes were closed, and Dot was simply ignoring her. "Dot!" Dot opened her eyes and gave a dramatic sigh. She looked over and not too far away was a little girl dancing along the grass. "It's just a little girl, relax." Dot continued to watch the girl with a small smile. She almost, in a strange way, reminded her of herself, though much, much younger. And with legs. "What do you think she's doing here all alone? She looks to be twelve or so." "Who cares? She's just some stupid little girl," Lorelei growled. Dot and Lorelei watch as the girl picked up a basket and began to head back towards the village. "Good, she's leaving." Dot shook her head, and pointed to where the girl now stood in place. "I don't think so..." The girl had spotted something in the lake, and made her way over to it. Dot tried to make out what it was, but she was too far away to tell. Lorelei didn't care much about what the little girl was doing, but she did about what she had found. Perhaps something of value? The sisters could clearly see the object the girl had found was shiny, but then something peculiar happened. The girl dropped the object and fell to the ground, as though dead. Lorelei and Dot were speechless as they watched, frozen in place. As fast as she could, Dot pulled herself up and rushed over to where the little girl lay. She knelt down beside her, too afraid to touch her. "Is she...dead?" Dot asked, looking down at the the girl's fragile body. "Hopefully," Lorelei muttered. Dot growled at her sister's voice, unable to see how she could joke about something like death. "Sorry, but what does this girl matter to us? She's just a silly peasant girl. Let's just leave." Dot ignored her sister and leaned in closer, shaking slightly. It seemed as though the girl was barely breathing, but she could tell for sure. |

The girl, Aurora, was grasping about her mind in a futile effort to regain consciousness. She felt nothing currently, saw and heard nothing. It scared her so much, the brief moments of loneliness seeming like centuries. She felt like crying, but her eyes felt far away, like they were right before her, but outside her reach. She stopped trying to hold herself together, and faded to nothingness. By the lake Aurora slowly began to cry, her tears a mix of pain and desperation. Her arms twitched, her head rolled side to side, and spine cracked. Her body ever so slowly began to go pale, paler then her already pale skin. Her hands grabbed at her heart in pain, both physically and emotionally. In Aurora's mind she felt so old, like she had been inside the darkness for years. Suddenly however, something grabbed at the girl's attention. It was a giggle. Not like a child s giggle, but a giggle of something much darker. The girl looked about desperately, longing for someones, anyones, company. |

The light had slowly started to fade from the sky when Aurea surfaced from underwater. She opened her mouth, taking large breaths of air for a few moments before settling back into a more regular, steady rhythm. She glanced up at the sky, studying it for a few moments before deciding that she'd be swimming for at least an hour or so. Definitely time to get out, she decided even as she swam to shore. When it was significantly shallow enough, she just walked the rest of the way and got out of the water. Her hair looked darker wet than it normally did, seeming to be almost black instead of just dark brown. For all that she shook herself off like a wet dog, both her hair and her clothing dripped continuously. Of course, her clothing was nothing but a long, pale blue long-sleeved shirt that fell to about mid-thigh. The rest of her clothing, including her cloak and her dagger were sitting off to one side of the lake. There was no one else around though, so she didn't feel like she was in any danger. And then she heard a voice and she tensed, looking around for the person. About twenty feet down the shore, she saw a woman crouched over what appeared to be a small, unmoving figure. As she watched, the woman started to shake the body and seemed to be arguing with herself and, yet, Aurea seemed to be hearing only half the argument. Her curiosity now piqued, she made her way over in time to hear the last comment about leaving her. She glanced from woman down to what appeared to be an unconscious little girl and she looked back at the woman. "What happened?" She crouched down beside the two just as the little girl's body began to spasm. With a muttered curse, she used one hand to push the girl's body back down, her other reaching out and checking for the pulse on her neck. It took her a moment to find it, but the pulse was still there. "Did you see what happened to her?" She asked again, looking back up at the other woman. |

Dot felt completely useless. She should be trying to figure out a way to help the poor girl, and all she could do was observe. But what else could she do? She had absolutely no idea if her healing powers would work, and they were weak to begin with. Lorelei wasn’t the least bit helpful; constantly nagging on how it’s not their problem, how they should let someone else deal with it. Dot wasn’t like her sister in any way; she couldn’t just abandon the poor child. "How many times do I have to tell you? It’s not your problem! Can’t we leave?" Lorelei was getting fed up with her goodie two-shoe sister. The last thing she wanted to do was help some insignificant little peasant girl who just happened to fall into some sort of coma type thing right when she was just starting to relax. "No, Rory, we can’t! How can you be so heartless to such an innocent little girl?" Dot cried, almost wanting to hug the fragile body, but didn’t. “Easy, like this: Let’s go. Now!" screamed Lorelei, but she knew it was useless. Dot had control over her body, so no matter how many times she would order Dot to do something, she didn’t have to…unfortunately. "Great, company. You happy?" Lorelei grimaced as another girl appeared beside them. She was drenched; apparently she had gone swimming in her clothes. Dot stiffened slightly, uncertain of how to react towards the new girl. She was shy when it came to being social, even on such a matter as helping the poor unconscious girl. Dot hesitated a moment, unsure of how to answer exactly. "Any day would be nice, Dot," Lorelei said bitterly, wanting now more than ever to leave. Dot took a deep breath and spoke, averting her eyes to the newcomer. "I’m not sure…she picked something up and then…this." |

Aurora moaned in pain and sorrow, the emotions rapping around her in a protective cocoon. Her body continued to spasm, and her arms began to grasp about for something. Suddenly in the shallow water a bright purple gem flipped onto the shore, seeming that a fish pushed it aside. This in turn caused Aurora to grasp about in the gems direction, to week to walk and get it. Inside Aurora's mind she heard the giggling noise once more, time louder. She screamed for whatever it was to come out, but was horrified to only here a soft breath come out of her throat. The giggling stopped, and she felt a warm hand touch her chest where her heart was. "Wake up Aura...your time has not come yet, I need you for a while longer..." Aura suddenly woke up from her mindscape, looking around franticly. After a moment she saw what she was looking for, and grabbed the gem by the shore quickly and put it into her shirts inside pocket. She then looked back to the two women behind her, and sat down to look at them cautiously. |

At her own question, the other woman looked unsure. Aurea watched her face closely before she answered a few minutes later, noticing the uncertainty playing across it. When she finally did answer, Aurea looked around them quickly, trying to see what it was that the girl had picked up but she couldn't find anything. It couldn't be that the little girl had picked up something poisoned, could it? No that was too unlikely, she decided. A moment later movement caught her attention and she glanced over to see a sparkling gem appear on shore. She quickly looked back down, watching the girl's hand reach for the gem but the girl herself didn't move. And then all of a sudden, the girl was up and moving, hurrying to the gem and snatching it up. As soon as the gem had been safely put away, the girl returned to where she and the other woman crouched, sitting down and looking at them. Aurea frowned, studying the girl as she wondered just what had happened. Magic, she finally decided, it was probably magic. If only it had really just been a physical ailment, those were always easier to deal with, it seemed. "Are you alright, sweetheart?" She asked, settling herself down to sit just as the girl had done. Maybe she'd get lucky and it wouldn't be magic but she wouldn't know until she asked. |

Aurora looked to the women that first spoke up. She nodded slowly before examining both of the girls. They seemed fairly normal in her eyes, albeit more of the adventuring sort. Aurora sighed before rubbing her neck tentatively. "I am alright now, thank you for your concern" She responded quietly before touching her shirt pocket gently. She felt much more then alright, she felt warm and happy. Never before had she felt this good, not even when during the annual fairs. Aurora heard a all to familier giggle in the back of her head, and looked about in a scared fashion. "Who's there?" she asked frightenedly. She received no response, only the feeling of guilt and shyness. Aurora looked back to the two girls shyly, expecting them to think her crazy after her outburst. |

Dot sat motionless and she continued to watch the girl, feeling the eyes of the newcomer on her, before she glanced around for the mysterious object. The little girl no longer appeared lifeless for she was now moaning lightly and what sounded as though in pain; like she was struggling within. For once, Lorelei remained silent as well, but only for the reason that the girl was in pain, and she got a distinct pleasure from it. As the child went on with her spasms, something else occurred, her arms flew up and began grasping for something in the air, though her eyes remained closed. Dot looked to the side, towards the lake, and realized that a purple gem had be thrown on shore. "Oh, I want that!" Lorelei shrieked, no longer silent. The gem sparkled in the sunlight as it lay still on the shore. But how it got from beneath the lake to the surface Dot did not know, and Lorelei did not care. Mesmerized by the gem, Dot jumped when the little girl was now awake and scurrying over to the gem, stashing it within her pocket. Dot remained silent, though Lorelei was cursing the girl for taking her gem. "It's not even your gem, so stop whining," Dot whispered, not wanting neither of the other two girls hear her and think she's crazy for talking to 'herself'. "Well how do you know it's even hers?" Lorelei snapped, wishing she had her own body so she could hold the gem and sell it for all it's worth. "I don't but just....Shh! Dot forced a small cough just in case any of the two girl were getting suspicious of something, and observed the girl quietly, as she sat down and stared at them carefully. After what seemed like an eternity to both Dot and Lorelei, the newcomer spoke first, since Dot wasn't going to, asking if the girl was alright. The little girl responded quietly stating that she was alright, though Dot wasn't too convinced. Then the girl asked the strangest question, causing Dot to cock her head to the side in confusion before looking around to see if she spotted anyone. She didn't, only her and the two other girls. "Great, a nutcase. Told you we should have left," Lorelei said, annoyance hinted in her tone. Curious, Dot asked, "What...? Did you hear something?" Her voice was low and cracked slightly. Dot's gaze went from the little girl to the grass she was kneeling on as she began to pick out grass stems, just to do something with her hands while she waited. |
