| Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit. Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own. In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins. There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free. Create a character now! If you're already a member, you can log into your account below: |

Along the dust-ridden walls of faded paint and crumbling stone ran the whispers, rushed the silent screams of the souls as they fled through the invisible gateways opened by the Plane-Rider. His servant's victims lay with painted screams of horror upon their death-ridden faces, their bodies littering the corridors and rooms through the large cabin. It was a lonesome cabin, old and run-down, set deep in the heart of the swamp the noble had taken refuge in to hide from the attempts on his life. His had been a path of war, one that had made him a target. His greed and lust for power had made him weak. So it was that he was the one chosen by Calh'ca'dorr'nar to be Rorschach's second. The boots of the drow made not a sound they strolled as casually as a young girl on a hunt for a good book through the library and study of the noble. Into the bedroom they carried him, drawing ever nearer to the cowering fool. In his fear, he had forgotten to lock his chamber door. Good for Rorschach. This would be an easy kill, even easier than the first one had been, for this was no barbarian or fighter. The doorknob turned in his ebony-skinned hand, the door creaked slowly open, and his hand removed itself from the cool brass. The hooded figure came into view and the bolt was loosed, but a small mace flew quickly through the air to deflect it. Amid his cries and fumbled attempts to reload, he begged for his life, whimpering pathetically. The fat man with his useless tears pooling on the ground around him, soaking into his fine clothes, wrinkling his face, giving him lines that would set into his decomposing corpse after he was dead, could not have been a more pathetic target. Yet this man had changed the course of an entire country, had in fact manipulated its fate for decades. Now it was time for him to pay the price. Now it was time for Calh'ca'dorr'nar to pull the strings that would put another man in power, a man he could control. It was already done, but there was just this one loose end to tie up. Now in the mortal world, it was difficult to believe how easily he controlled these pathetic mortals - and yet he did. Rorschach was just one more to control, but he would be a general in Calh'ca'dorr'nar's armies when the time came. In a flash of sudden hatred, violently raining down upon the noble's screaming skull came the iron head of a deadly mace. Again and again it came down, and amid the silent laughter of a demon-wrought grin of arrogance and delight, the blood and bones and brains of the soon-to-be-dead middle-aged human fool covered the floor, the walls, the bed, the bureau, and the killer with a slick, slimy ooze. When the final stroke fell, there was no more sound. There were no more screams, no more look of horror, no more begging and pleading. There was only the gleam of sadistic pleasure in the eyes of one who looked upon that sorry soul as it fled from the freshly dead body of a man whose bashed-in skull no longer resembled any kind of humanoid being in the world. Now it was just a broken, chaotic mess of bodily fluids and pieces scattered about like sticks strewn on the floor by a child - only these sticks weren't meant to be picked up again. The pointed, elongated ears of the dark elf picked up the sound of footsteps within the confines of the dead noble's hiding place and the drow's grin slowly faded as he listened. The soul of the noble was gone now, through the gateway and into the belly of the Plane-Rider as the drow turned to face the unknown guest. Uninvited it was, this guest who stepped lightly - a woman, no doubt, but whom? And what being would come here, into this place, deep into the swamp as it was? Ah, but he had come, and Rorschach had business here. Perhaps this person did, as well? Only time would tell the tale... |

Offical. Lost. Guideless. Three words that all described Evals position in these woods. She was offically lost and guideless. What a pity, well. As long as nothing came up, she would be just fine until she found her way out. Thinking about it better, she might rather like it here better than in that Desert valley. More darkness here and less sand. The sand was just plan irritating and hard to walk through, or fight in. Standing now, she looked at her surroundings. Thick twisted trees, ancients were hear at one point with the carved stones that were left lying around. Strangly in the thickets of the woods there was a house of all things. A Manson even, what was such a thing doing around here anyways? It was big and not so well built. It drew her closer, rather be inside than out here when she could go inside and ask for directions. The undead girl walked up to the manson, the door was already opened, by force. It looked rather unpleasent when she had entered the room. So many people lay dead all over the place, the dead people on the floor were bloody all over. What was this? What happened here? It was all fairly recent as well. Following the trail of blood she walked up the stairs dragging her mace along the steps uncaringly. Upon entering the room where there was at least a little movement, she saw a Drow. He had just killed someone in cold blood, it looked quite fun. "What are you doing here?" she asked curiously, not sounding very much if she cared or not. |

((Translate here if your char doesn't know drowish, which I'm assuming she doesn't. Just copy/paste the speech.)) A zombie, it seemed, had stumbled upon the drow in his entertainment for the afternoon. The sun did not reach this place, but it didn't need to for the drow to know what time it was. The grandfather clock in the corner of the room had chimed three only a few moments before, when he'd been mercilessly slaughtering the none-too-innocent servants and guards of the fat man whose blood, near-headless corpse now rested in death behind him. His lips curled into a half-smirk, half-sneer as he saw the creature come into the room, as obviously uninterested in the corpse as Rorschach was in humans, yet inquiring nonetheless. Clearly, the creature had possessed a curious spirit in life; now, it possessed only the physical tools of a body long ago turned undead and forced now to wander the earth. "Vel'bol 'udtila ol lor saph, elghinyrr uss?" was the only response me made to the undead thing before him, his words arrogant and snide. It was impressive to the drow cleric of Calh'ca'dorr'nar that the zombie girl could speak at all, let alone coherently or with any kind of intelligence. Yet she had done just that, and now he had responded. If she did not know drowish, Rorschach would have to try another language - perhaps the common tongue? Yet that, of course, was assuming the creature understood that he'd said anything at all or had the ability to respond to that question. Either way, what followed would no-doubt be an interesting encounter with a strange individual. |

Such a doomed structure. It was doomed even before it's foolish recent construction. Any building build here was doomed to wind up eaten by the marsh and age well beyond it years before it's demise, just as this building had and would though that was not the only thing that doomed and cursed the house. After peaceful negotiation and several gifts from the noble, Vernon had permitted this perverse intrusion upon his land. Vernon of course had no intention of keeping his word. He had intended to clear out all the bodies from the profane cabin, but it seemed some intruder had beaten him to the chase. The Marsh proclaimed that it was a dark elf, likely a cleric of some sort despite the death of the gods. Vernon could see what sort of entertainment this fool could provide while aiding the Marsh reclaim the land she guarded so jealously. The house was doomed to sink into the marsh and had already begun to do so in the back, but the was a bit Vernon could do to speed up the process. Vernon slipped inside through a 'secret' back entrance that Vernon assumed the noble had hoped would never be found out by any, let alone Vernon. Vernon's own scent heralded his coming as he tracked the scent of the dark elf. Soon delightfully delicious scent crossed along the path. Vernon was glad to not have is attentions torn away from his prize by this rotted corpse that was moved around the house. Likely a zombie accomplice of some sort, yet the Marsh did not mention the dark elf traveling with company. Rabid and Ritz trailed at Vernon's heels. The large foaming wolf's size was nearly matched by large dire rat and bother were eager to get a bite out of something. Amidst his brief tracking he summoned rain to bless this cursed house, though the the rain was benign in few means of the word. Little drops of acid clattered against the house, slowly but surely eating away at the house. The dark elf and walking snack would be safe for now, but not for long. Within minutes holes would form along the ceiling to invite the baleful droplets inside and soon after that the buildings outer walls would give way. Vernon's profound stomach churning stench rolled into the room in full when Vernon entered, though the song of this herald fell upon deaf ears against the zombie with no functioning nose. Vernon's eyes caught sight of the snack that looked as delicious as she smelled. "Hmmm.... It seems that twit attracted far much more attention than he was worth. A pitiable reason trespass upon My Marsh, but I might let you off easy," Vernon mused before taking the whip from his side and drawing Scourge with his free hand. "Tell me your worthless little names and more importantly what brought your ill will against the doomed dunce of a fool who owned this house. Be quick about it though, I've not in the mood to kill or re-kill either of you, though if don't cooperate I'm sure that might change," Vernon demanded as he pointed his blade a them. The dire rat and wolf moved towards them, though the creatures were presently more interested in the dark elf's most recent kill than either of the to uninvited, though both love to feast upon Eval's flesh if Vernon would let them. Vernon was curious what would happen if he held the dou up her until moment's before the house collapse. The dark elf would likely die and and zombie might even be destroyed in the process. Still, at present he was pleased with the dark elf's work and leaned in favor of letting him at least survive. |

Evals looked upon the Drow who then went and spoke to him. The language, familiar. She had spent a good amount of time in Menzoberranzan to recognize it as well, though the fact that he was a Drow pretty much had given it away. She stood thoughtfully and shook her head. "'It looks something, Dead.' All I got out of that sentence, you know the common tongue or something I can understand at all?" she asked him before rain started to fall heavily on the house. Where did that come from? More was in the house now and coming towards them up the stairs. It came to them and started to speak. A giant rat, it reminded her of the one she rat a while ago in Taras. There were other large rats with him, on the ground anyways walking like normal ones. This one spoke to them casually. She stepped back and pulled her mace up. "Well, lovely talking with you both. For your answer my name is Evals S'arual. As for what I am doing here, leaving." she said carefully before she walked over to the back of the room. She kicked the corspe on the floor over to the rat to make sure the others wouldn't come after her instead. It all was the same to those things, walking or lying on the floor. She kicked it only hard enough to land a few feet in front of him, it tumbled on the floor. The undead continued towards the back of the room carefully, she brought her mace down upon the wall of the room and it shattered under her strength. Bits of wood and other building materials flew outwards. It was luckily leading outside into the heavy rain. From the talking of the giant rat he didn't like this guy at all, so destroying his house couldn't really matter that much. Evals was going to jump outwards but held her mace upon her shoulder and looked back at them quickly. She waited to see what was happening, if anything made a movement towards her she was going to be heading outside. |

The smell mingled with so many others, so it was not immediately that it was noticed in the old mansion. But the rain was heard. Rain, here? It was almost impossible to get rain through the treetops to reach this decrepit house, yet there was...wait...it was...sizzling? That was no ordinary rain. He smelled the burning wood now, heard it begin to creak, heard the acid pouring through it. It was an acid rain. He scowled deeply. Who was trying to kill him now? Returning his gaze to the situation before him, however, he was about to reply in the common tongue when he smelled the rat (literally). He was foul and perverse in his stench and appearance, but it was his words that irritated him. His hand grasped the faded, tattered quilt on the bed as he replied to the rat instead of the now-fleeing zombie. He wasn't about to be burned alive by acid from some freakishly huge vermin intent on killing him. He could have stayed, of course, but the acid was a bit daunting. "Yugho xund, jor, drill dos orn screa naubol dal uns'aa." With that, he turned and leapt through the window, whipping the quilt over his head as he did so. Landing and rolling, he rushed off into the shadows of the swamp and soon disappeared... [OUT] |
