Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own.

In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins.

There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free.

Valen and Ornell had ventured out to Norwood forest and she had sent up camp near a tree with a low hanging branch. She was careful to avoid the roads and sat perched on the low branch watching the swamp from just outside it's boarder. Her small red wings fluttered slightly as she saw a movement. Then a small rat crept toward the camp that Valen was busy setting up. Rune waited silently as the rat crossed onto the dryer land of the forest. As soon as it was within reach, she scooped it up. It sweeked in anger and protest until she gave it a scrap of raw boar meat. The rest of the boar was strung up in a tree on the other side of the camp.

The rat was quick to accept the offering and was eating it as she spoke to it. "You're a smart one. Tell you Lord that he has a visitor at this border. I would like to speak with him." Without any doubt that it would work to bring the large rat Vernon forth to visit with her, she let the rat go to scurry back to the swamps.

Her first meeting with the human sized rat had been shortly after she arrived in Imythess. Valen had still been young then. He had been rather clumsy. Rune smiled at the memory. She only hoped that Vernon remembered her and even more so, might be able to give her a hint about her foe. Beyond what she already had that is... Rune tucked her legs up on the branch, crossed her arms about her knees, and rested her chin on her arms. Now all she had to do was wait.

Vernon’s latest project was making a belt out of various hides of all his favorite races. It was made most doable thanks to the many thick-skinned races that Vernon fancied. Skinning the victims was a most amusing task, better done while the being was still alive. The begging, pleading, and howls of pain were a pleasant ensemble to bring into the marsh and accommodate its dark pleasures as well as his own. Vernon fiddled with his present collection of hides when one of his spies came to inform him of some intrusion upon the marsh. Hopefully this intruder was a wild or dark elf; that would aid him complete his collection of elven skins. Perhaps he could use some of the skins to make genuine elven boots with real elf hide, instead of the cruddy farces people tried to sell off as elven boots.

Vernon followed the rodent which lead him dutifully back to where Ornell had been met. Before she was visible a foreign, yet familiar scent came to Vernon. It took him a while, but he finally identified it as belonging to Ornell, the unfortunate elf Lady Era hadvisted him. Apparently when Lady Era became a mockery of divinity Ornell gained sentience as well as a copy of Era’s mind. Lady Era had apparently fled the plane, but what curious purpose did that mean Ornell was presently here for? Oddly enough he was expecting Yaksha to return to him with her hair and blood, but obviously the fool was all talk and no show to have accomplished nothing so far.

Vernon was amused to find Ornell perched in a tree outside of his marsh. Such discpcable show of manners failed to give Vernon a reason to use his whip which had been craving for a victim. Perhaps he could draw something useful from her and the efforts against the fell entity that apparently sought destruction and chaos. He might even be able to convince the Divschatten to undermine her plans. Valen was nearby but out of view, though it seemed by his scent that he had matured more than he should have since their last encounter. It had been a while but not long enough for a normal wyrmling dragon to grow up this fast. “It’s been quite some time since I last saw you, Ornell. What brings you to my beloved Marsh," Vernon asked.

She could hear Valen setting up the last bits of the camp behind them. The dragon then paused and said in a curtious tone, "A spark for the fire if it's no trouble." She looked behind her and gave a slight smile. With a flick of her wrist the fire sprang to life.

"Don't cook anything yet though Valen." She said and he nodded before settling himself on the ground. He leaned back and wondered at his choice. He didn't doubt that the decision had been, and in many ways still was, the best choice he had ever made. There was still a bit of... curiosity perhaps? Would it have been better to let his childhood be even though he walked beside a Goddess? Would he have been able to do more if he was smaller and more agile? He doubted it. Making that promise with Ornell, even if she didn't remember it now, was his choice. They were a team now, Rider and Dragon, and she knew that somewhere...

A smell reached Ornell then, one that was very different from the undead that she had crossed paths with out in the desert. Rot. Decay. She straightened, looking out to the swamps. Why anyone would want to rule over the swamps had always been a puzzle to her, but it seemed natural for a huge rat to want it. She had no reason to dispute the claim. It wasn't as if she had any reason to want a swamp. Nor did she know anyone else who wanted it... then Vernon spoke and she was able to pin down his location even if she didn't see him clearly.

She rose from her seat and dipped a abbreviated bow in greeting. She had pants on instead of a skirt, so a curtsy simply wouldn't do. "It has been some time and things seem to have changed quite a bit for me. It doesn't seem that things have changed too much around here though, if I'm not mistaken. Do you have a moment to spare?"

A foolish question. Would he even be here if he didn't have a moment to spare? The choice of words was quite redundant, but then again so was most of the 'highclass' etiquette. He wouldn't hold such insolence against her though, he had opted to try and tolerate those who acknowledged his title and none did this better than Ornell and Lady Era. Not to mention attempting belt out of her would notably be far too much work than it was worth. She might not be a goddess or avatar of a goddess anymore, yet she was still imagined as quite formidable where as Vernon was quite lazy.

"Nature is in a constant cycle of change. It is for this reason it is unchanging," Vernon mused as he leapt to a branch several feet in front of her. It was amusing, his very existence itself proved that even the perpetual cycles of nature in time would meet their end.

"Under present circumstances the marsh would have little to change it anyways. The interest of the gods and demons has always been foremost in the cities. It's little surprise the effects of the demon attacks or their overlord have not been seen here," Vernon replied hinting at the changes he presumed she was peaking of.

"Of course I have time to spare for a little chat. What was it that brought you here?" Vernon asked, annoyed that he had asked the question before though he did reasonably well to hide this from his tone of voice.
