| Welcome to Imythess, the border between dreams and reality. We hope you enjoy your visit. Imythess is a creative writing board where you narrate the story of a character in the medieval land of Imythess, on the planet Chaon. Each topic is an opportunity for your character to interact with the world and its peoples by cooperatively writing pieces of a story with other members, one post at a time. We call this role-playing, because you assume the identity of your character as if it were your own. In order to play, you must register an account for each character you would like to write about, and begin their tale by filling out their basic profile information: Race (human, elf, demon, etc.), class (warrior, mage, etc.), physical appearance, and any other personal details you would like to describe. You are also encouraged to come up with some background history information for what your character's life has been like up to the point at which their story in Imythess begins. There is no approval process or application required to join, so long as you follow the rules then you are free to write whatever character details you choose. Registration is simple, fast, and completely free. Create a character now! If you're already a member, you can log into your account below: |

The two Necromancers outside the village watched the destruction for a while before the village started to burn in the defense though it only added to the destruction being caused. One of them gave a laugh at their foolishness. The one in front, who looked older raised his staff into the air, from behind him ripples in the dimension broke open and more Undead minions were cast forth, an army enough to match the size of the one already sent in. These would overwhelm the small amount of defenders. These Undead weren't only consistant of Humans, they were varying greatly on the race. From gnomes to Lizardfolk, all armed with basic weapons given to fodder. These undead were more intelligent but still following the simple order, destroy everything that moved that wasn't one of their own men, then after that was done they were to tear down the entire down. Amoung the ranks of the new army there stood two Skeletal Dragons, nothing but bones made them up. They were former Red Dragons and still contained their breath weapon from life. A fearsome force was being made upon Kellen now. If the army was to survive, which the two Men doing all of this were doubtless that success would be their's, it was to go on and way waste to every other city left standing... or floating in Cascadia's case. After this summoning the Necromancer that did it collaspe to his knees, there was the limit of his skills, he would have to get better at this than he was if he was going to destroy this world. The second one grabbed his shoulders and covered themself in darkness and vanishes to the Shadow Plane and left the Undead Army to destroy. Surely Kellen would fall, but this wouldn't be enough to take the rest of this world. ___ Evals swung her mace crushing many bones and limbs in her wake of destruction. Why won't they just stay down the first time, it was unfair that she had to do this. Couldn't she just let the village burn to the ground. It would be more fun to not get involved. Well, can't say that this wasn't fun ether. Beating the crap out of random things was alwas fun. The Undead girl had done her best to keep the fire off of her, it had come on her once or twice but she had patted it out as best as she could. She also had lost an arm.... just now. Kicking a zombie inwards on itself she retreaved her arm. Time for a retreat it was. Running towards the part of town that wasn't on fire she ignored the angel that was shouting at them. "Who the hell even caress? Save your own ass if you assk me!" She said running behind a building and hoping she would be able to find someone that could reattact her arm, she should really learn how to do that herself. Where had that other two gone off to.. that Human or Elf and that other thing that jumped down near them. She didn't care, just wanted to know. If they died that would be pretty humorful. But now, she had to know where all of these zombies were coming from. They seemed endless almost, the town was being over run. It would only be a matter of time before they could get to her again. In fact only a few seconds. Holding her palm out over the ground in front of her, she was going to let something else fight them off for a while, let something else take the burden of the Undead before them. "Ex cineribus resurgam." she whispered in her death tone. A dark bolt that resembled lightning shot from her palm, it struck the ground and caused some strange markings to form across the dirt. Evil emitted from it, evil that hated the world. Evals stared wided eyed, not the first time she had done this but it still surprised her of the results. Coming up was a portal, a small one at first. It swirled with negative and chaotic energy. It caused more black lightning to strike out of the portal and hit the ground making quick demonic marks in the ground which seemed to vanish like they didn't exist. Out of the portal came a large four armed Demon, it looked like it was cracking with flames underneath it's stoney skin. It stood there and looked down upon the Undead Girl which summoned it. Not giving it a single moment to speak Evals pointed in the direction of the Undead horde and shouted at it. "Go." With that the Demon nodded understanding the orders given and charged into the masses of the zombies and started to torch and tear them apart with sheer might at first. It was going to be well. Evals sat down on the ground and picked up her arm and held it upon her lap. If she had to pay an over priced Cleric to heal this again she would be pissed off. |

It couldn't be possible. There was no way. Not after all the ones they'd destroyed, halted, or otherwise routed. It was absolutely, positively impossible that so many creatures could be approaching Kellen now, in greater numbers than before and with weapons. Some even had different forms; this was turning into a problem much too quickly. "More zombies?!" Seth cried, looking out upon the approaching horde. It was all he could do to look up at a rooftop, using Blink to propel himself to a higher place and away from the encroaching mass. Even the roofs weren't entirely safe anymore, there were remnants of zombie scattered around his feet. Obviously, someone had been here before him. There's no way I can handle this many alone, he thought hopelessly. Was Kellen truly doomed to burn just as Taras? But something caught his eye within the undead crowd. Was that a pit fiend smashing its way through zombies? It was almost as hard to believe as the invasion itself... But no, his eyes didn't seem to be lying. He looked around, finding the point of the creature's arrival: The zombie girl had summoned it. He couldn't help but smile as he looked down upon her, Blinking and standing before her in a flash. "Seems you don't want this town to be destroyed," he said calmly, looking over her wounds. She'd taken quite a beating, it was obvious. If he could have healed them, he would, but there was no spell he knew to heal undead. Not that he had, anyway. No, trying to heal her with one of his current spells would just end in disaster. |

Sitting on top of the statue, Long watched as a large demon was summoned and then began to tear through the zombies in front of him. Continuing to wait, Long also noticed that many of the zombies were now armed and consisted of other races and even some monsters. Spreading his wings, Long waited a few moments and saw two giant skeletal dragons making their way towards the town. Puffs of smoke and flames emitted from their mouths as they marched towards the town, crushing even the zombies on their way. "This could be troublesome if they end up lightning even more of the town on fire... A large gust of wing pushed Long off the statue and lifted him into an updraft. Rising high above the town, Long hid in the night's clouds, making his way towards the two large skeletal dragons. Still armed with the dagger, Long waited for the army to progress closer to his position. Several minutes passed and the skeletal dragons had finally made it into Long's range, leaving a track of trampled zombies behind them. Flipping upside-down, Long folded his wings and began to free fall towards the skeletal dragons, spinning rapidly towards the ground. Several meters before crashing into one, Long tossed his dagger into the spinal column and then spun once more, crashing his foot into the dagger and cracking the bone. Immediately jumping off of the dragon, Long circled around it until he had completely regained control of his momentum. Observing the skeletal dragons, Long saw that the one he had injured was slowly losing fragments of it's back and the other was continuing on towards the town. "I hope that demon can take care of the other dragon..." Flying towards the dragon once again, Long dived to avoid a snap from it's jaws and a spear pierced his shoulder. Crying out in pain, Long rose up into the air, dragging a Lizardfolk zombie and his spear up into the sky. Kicking the zombie off, Long stood still in the air, and slowly pulled the spear out. Gasping for breath, Long placed a hand on his wound and closed his eyes. Heal... The damaged flesh began to repair itself and the hole in Long's shoulder was soon nothing more than a blood-stained patch of skin. Gripping the spear in his hand, Long dived towards the skeletal dragon, weaving back and forth to avoid snaps and fire from the dragon itself as well as the zombies that had halted to attack Long. Tossing the spear into the dragon's mouth, Long heard it snap in and instant. Flying over it's back, Long grabbed for his dagger and after several attempts yanked it out, sending large bits of bone flying everywhere. Flying upwards once again, Long watched as the skeletal dragon's entire body began to crack and fragment. "It's not enough..." Diving downwards, Long went back and forth in front of the dragon's mouth, flying low and near the zombies beneath. After several unsuccessful tries to bite down the flying pest, the dragon breathed fire and missed Long, only to light the zombies on fire. Smiling and laughing, Long flew upwards and observed the fire spreading through the newer ranks of zombies. Sheathing his dagger in his sleeve, Long stood in the air, "This fire should kill at least a third of the army before they can reach the town and then almost all of it once they do reach the center...and it should make the cracks in that dragon even more brittle. But there's too many in the town already, it looks like even this won't save the town." |

*Sometime ealier that night* Thomas Whitman, a wandering peddler, slowly came out of the inn with a look of defeat on his face. He took off his broad brim hat and stratched his head. "Not a single sale, once again another bust..." Thomas let out a depressed sight. "Mabe I need to change my inventory..." He muttered to himself. He then noticed a figure slowly approaching him from the right. He could not make out any of the details due to the darkness, and all he coud see was a humanoid shape. "A CUSTOMER!" He thought, imediately turning frown upside down. He took few steps closer to the man, " Hello, good sir, may I interest you in buying some of my wares? You will find that I carr-" He stopped right in the middle of his sales pitch once the figure a few feet away from him gave off a rather menacing hiss. "Um-uh sir?" Thomas asked nervously, now noticing just how the stranger seemed to be dragging its left foot. The being before him let out another hiss, slightly louder than the first. "Umm, uh-I uh-good bye!" Thomas turned around quickly to put some distance between himself and the scary man. However, he turned around and bumbed into something cold. It was a breast plate, rusty by the looks of it, which was worn by a tall lumbering "ZOMBIE!!!!" Thomas shrieked loudly at the sight of the rotting being before him. *Current time* Thomas Whitman, an rather ordinary man, had little experience in such unusual situations as this. He was no hero. He had never encountered zombies before, although he had heard enough about them. "How did this happen? Why is this happening? What do I do?" He said outloud frantically as he ran this way and that, trying to escape from the village. However, this was a task that was easier said than done. This massive army of the dead were nearly everywhere and now were beginning to suround the village. He had no idea what to do. He had little idea of where to run. Bone dragons, zombies, and he could of sworn that he saw a demon pop up somewhere even. "Run, just run!" He said over and over again to himself as he continued running through the village, looking for a gap in the masses of the undead that he could slip through. His pack was was getting heavier, he had not thought to take off in his panicked state of mind, as he got more and more tired. Eventually he, out of desperation, climbed a tree that had not (yet) caught flames. However, this did not appear to be a solution to his problems as some zombies, armed with axes, began hacking at the tree. Being faced with possible iminent destruction, Thomas did the only thing he could do. "HEEEEEEEEELP!" He cried out at the top of his lungs. |

At last, the drow approached the edge of town - to an even more disturbing site. He saw no end to the zombies heading for the town. He'd need a lot of magic and skill to defeat this army. There were others, true, but he worked alone. Besides, was he really expected to work with an angel, of all people? That filth was even worse than a flaming surface elf! No way in any of the nine hells was he going to go anywhere near that...that... ..that thing. But it seemed that he would have to do something. One building wasn't going to be enough; the fire was spreading to the houses around it, but not very quickly. He'd need to set another one. Fortunately, the drow knew this town like the back of his hand. The shattering of glass was the only indication that there might be someone in the house. The man that came running was holding up a club of some kind and trying to look menacing, but he was rather fat and very slow of mind. He didn't seem to realize that there was more to a shadow than darkness. Searching for a candle, he cut himself on the busted-open door - a product of his haste in trying to find out who was breaking into his house. His midnight snack - a sausage of some kind - he tried to quickly gulp down. His nightgown whipped about as he searched for some source of light. There was a gurgle just as the soft padding of a woman's footsteps made their way into the upstairs hall. There was a loud thump as a body hit the floor. "Danny?" The woman made her way into the room...and screamed at the top of her lungs. The sight of her husband, eyes wide in shock and blood pooling around him, his club laying useless near his freshly deceased hand, was too much for her - but it was only the beginning. She knelt and began screaming and sobbing for help - and then he moved. He slowly stirred and she tried to lift him in her arms. Then he took a bite out of her throat. She screamed no more. Perhaps the zombies were a nuisance, but they could be useful as well. The flames of a candle surged as they consumed the spilled oil the drow had dumped. Leaping through two more windows, this time into the house next to the one he was in, he repeated his actions. It wouldn't be long before the zombies were being burnt up like steaks on a hot stove; plus, the town would be gone - and that was always a plus where humans and other filthy, disgusting, surface-dwelling maggots such as angels were concerned. |

It was a quick response to the calls upon the lands. The Priory was to move as quickly as possible with a spare amount of men they had. As many people in the area were to be sent into a small unit to get rid of the zombies. Hriky was close enough to be pulled into this unit. He raced quickly as he could on foot across the Deborn plains to Kellen. Outside the town by a mile, a small group of the Knights were gathered. Someone was appointed officer according to rank. The fastest muster of forces that could be put together. About twenty Warriors and Healers of the Knights. The company of warriors quickly moved to the other half of Kellen that was being attacked by the Undead horde. When within a few seconds of entering the town, Hriky drew his long sword and buckler. The warriors around him charged into the heat of combat. The small amounts of zombies that were on this side of town were cut to pieces down by the Knights' forces quickly. Hriky first ran in and made an upward thrust severing a zombie's arm off, bringing it down to cut through the center of it's torso. Kicking the remaining legs back down onto the ground. The larger mass of Undead was before them. There were only a few against many, this would get interesting very fast. Cutting into the Undead Hriky tried to thin the numbers down as best as he could. It would take a long time, considering others in the mass were wieilding weapons and seemed to be able to use them well. OOC: Any other people in the Holy Knights that want to join feel free to have come with the compnay I came in with. |

Evals pulled her arm to her socket, sitting on the ground and leaning against a building. She focused the spell Mend Undead which she had heard from some people onto her arm. Hopefully this would work out well enough. After about twenty seconds she let go of her arm and it stayed on very well. She was prepared to smash any Undead that came near her right now, she didn't want to have to deal with any of this. The guy from earlier teleported in front of her and she almost lashed out to punch him in the stomach. he didn't have to freaking scare her like that, he could have been killed if he knew what he was messing with. "Well, I'm jussst not in the mood to have to deal with finding another place to stay for the time being." she said turning away from him. Picking up her mace in hand, she slugged it over her shoulders. Looking out of the alley way she watched as some fighters charged into the ranks of the Undead. They looked Holy, she didn't want to have to deal with them if they mistook her. Standing in the shadows of the alley way she waited a while, hopefully she wouldn't have to get any further involved. Her Demon was already tearing a line in the defenses of the Undead. The Dragons were going to be here soon. "Why don't you go like... help them or something... I'll just watch from here." |

Flying high and fast, Long sped before the now blazing section of zombies and skeletons. The fire had stopped spreading as the newer zombies were apparently intelligent enough to stay away from those that were already ignited. The number of zombies still left after the fires Long had lit were depressing. The fire was still on a number of their bodies, but otherwise barely any had fallen. Shaking his head, Long closed his eyes and tried to rest himself until he reached the town once again. "Yeesh, I takes this long to burn a few zombies into the ground?" Upon his arrival, Long saw a number of armored soldiers near the entrance to the town. These soldiers were fairing much better than the random assortment of fighters that were previous staying in the town. They almost had a shine to them, in fact that pretty much did with the fires gleaming on their armor. "They look pretty holy. Maybe I should warn them about the dragons that are coming." Snapping his attention behind him, Long saw a large mass of skeletons and zombies that were descending upon the town. The sight of them sent a slight chill down Long's spine and he began to tilt away from the main entrance. Then again, it's kind of of hard to miss a giant dragon. They'll be find for now..." Continuing to fly past the gate, Long landed on a town square's statue several blocks away. The zombies that had managed to make their way this far were already heavily damaged and easy to take care of. Landing, Long kicked a skeleton in the head and knocked it backwards into a wall where is promptly shattered into pieces. Taking care of a few more zombies and skeletons, Long stretched his arms and legs. "It should only be a matter of time before some come my way. Until then, I think I'll rest here." OOC: Sorry about the short post, I tried to rush this one. |

Even though he was not officially a knight yet Bakar was conscripted into the unit dispatched to save Kellen. As the band was preparing on the outskirts his instincts told him something far more sinister than a random undead outbreak was going on. As the battle was joined Bakar drew his spear and began cutting down the shambling corpses immediately in front of him. One zombie that seemed more intelligent charged in as Bakar thrust his spear into another zombie forcing him to release it and quickly cast heal at his attackers head, followed by a buckler punch to ensure that it would not be getting back up. Despairingly he realized that the first wave of zombies was giving way to the more intelligent armed zombies. "As long as I served the cause of good I can die happy, but so help me I'll take as many of them down as I can before that happens." he said with grim resolve. As he used the butt of his spear to crush the skull of an undead that attempted to outflank him Bakar heard one of the villagers calling for help and saw him stuck in a tree surrounded by axe wielding zombies. Drawing into a close stance he uses his buckler and spear to plow through the throng to reach the shopkeeper. Hurling his spear he pinned one zombie to the tree and used is momentum to tackle another, hearing a satisfying crunch of bones. The remaining zombie latches onto him from behind but finds a healing spell fired into its hands and arms followed by a buckler to the face. Helping the shopkeeper down Bakar eyes the horde surrounding them. "Are you hurt?" he asks the terrified man as he retrieves his trusty spear from the tree. |

Andras felt conflicted as he watched the summoning. On one hand he longed to feel that kind of power at his command, but those who are the most likely to teach it would also expect him to commit atrocities like the one unfolding before his eyes and Andras didn't look forward to becoming evil. "At least I can see some undead up close, that should be enlightening." Casting barkskin over himself the wizard Stalks toward the town. Catching the column by surprise from the rear Andras fires a sizable magic missile into their ranks, and blasts it through a numberl of the undead, adjusting the trajectory slightly as it flew in order to ensure that it struck squarely on each undead it hit. As the vanguard turned the wizard surveyed the damage. "So only damage to the head will permanently stop their shuffling. They seem pretty strong for rotting corpses, and I don't think I can squeeze out another magic missile before they close in on me. As if on cue an arrow flew through the air striking his chest and knocking him breathless. Andras readied his wand with arcane energy in order to improve his odds in a close fight but he doubted he'd be able to take on the dozen or so undead closing in on him. |
